You are still shamelessly promoting the Bit-X scam without asking the valid questions about them.

There goes another irony-meter.

In any event, scumbag, you're not an 'investor' you are a shill for ponzi-schemes attempting to masquerade as legitimate cloud mining services..

I did not even mention Bit-x.... you are up above delivering messages for a site.  Again you like to throw insults... that does not help anyone.   Can you anwser what I asked above:

What is old hardware you were using?  Also what will be the new "high performance miners were ready".  With being ready seems you could say what miner your using.

To be able to say you have new high performance miners you would have to know what miner it is to make that statement true.

The great thing is I am able to speak my own opinions.... if I send someone to cloud mining currently it would be hashnest.  And I make 0 off that comment.   You always have a reason you cant back up what you say.  And it's normally name calling.
2922  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Dec 31 to Jan 12 Diff thread picks open. on: January 07, 2016, 09:10:38 PM
Coinbase is at 456 currently.  So we had a nice little jump on price.  I hope it slowly continues.   But still nice to see it happen.
It's a bit of a double edged sword.  Sure the higher btc price makes mining more profitable and able to support higher network difficulty, but it also attracts more miners and turns on more machines, thus increasing network difficulty and requiring a higher price to support it.  A bit of the ol' snake eating it's tail...

But generally I agree, much better to be sitting mid-400s than mid-200s like we did for so long.

I think a lot of the ones pushing it so much are commercial set-ups with ton's of machines.  I don't think it's a bunch of small hobby miners or home miners causing it.  So even at the higher price I'm not sure how much of a effect it has on attracting more miners.

Also I am still wondering if any of it could be China market putting more in it with stocks doing pretty bad there - http://money.cnn.com/2016/01/06/investing/china-stocks-halted/ .  The halting of stocks twice in a week is huge on their market.

On second post it now deals with using the Ledge Nano on a Android device - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1305888.msg13375015#msg13375015 .  It is a nice feature to have.  If your a mobile user on the go a lot I suggest you check it out.

I like the realtime numbers I hope it's closer to that then my speculation.  Would be nice to have a under 5 change.
2925  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [Hands On] Ledger Nano Hardware Wallet - Notlist3d on: January 07, 2016, 07:46:59 PM
The Ledger Nano is still working very well.  I recently tried using it with android mobile phone and it is a nice feature for those who need access to it on the go.    A update to hands on is coming to show that.

There is a reason I save those posts under Smiley.  I do intend for it to be there in the near future.
If you loose the ledger nano and you don't have another one can you still backup the wallet?
Can you backup the wallet only with the 24 seeds in another client or mobile app? as PIN is used only with ledger

The good news if you lose it you can restore with seeds on another wallet here is official response: "In case of loss or theft of your Ledger Wallet, or at any time, you can restore your entire balance either on a new Ledger Wallet or on any BIP39 compatible software wallet such as Multibit HD or Mycelium."

So the pin is just used as extra security on the hardware wallet.  Those seed's should be stored very safely as it is the way to restore your holdings.

I read fast in their FAQ and was thinking why should i order 2 (1 active and 1 for backup)
Checked in Mycelium and they support restoring the wallet with 24 seeds from Ledger thanks for the helpful info.

My biggest advice  for someone getting Ledger Nano is go ahead and also get the Ledger Starter - https://www.ledgerwallet.com/products/7-ledger-starter

It is a nice metal usb with 100 percent safe and offline OS for 5.50 euro.    But this ensures your seeds are secure and even if PC was infected since booting up this live linux OS your Ledger Nano is still secure.
2926  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [Hands On] Ledger Nano Hardware Wallet - Notlist3d on: January 07, 2016, 05:15:32 AM
Looks like the Ledger Nano is the perfect way to bring some bitcoin along on a holiday or travels for instance.

For more demanding stuff, like have traffic through the wallets in the device, it would be better to use something like a Trezor which does not have the weakness of potentially revealing the secret card code after several uses.

It's all personal preference.  If you need more security you will find a post I talked about linking wallet with phone.  - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1305888.msg13384208#msg13384208

Read that post I don't want to clutter it up and explain it twice.  But the short version is you could link it to your phone and you would never share more then 4 of your codes, so that weakness really can be whipped away if using phone to verify.

2928  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best bitcoin wallet? on: January 07, 2016, 04:56:25 AM
XAPO is the best with cold storages and insurance company support.

I would argue that that is not the best cold storage. I think paper wallet if done right is better.  You control it and can import into ton's of different wallet's when needed.

I am moving more and more twords hardware wallets.  But I still see value in paper wallets to.

Thanks for keeping this thread going I really do enjoy looking at it.  Congratz to all those who hit it this week.

It looks like 3 hit it?  Has this been the most in one week that have been being tracked?
2930  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: How to power antminer s7 in the USA? on: January 07, 2016, 04:45:55 AM
I'm running my S7s with EVGA SuperNOVA 1300 G2 80+ GOLD currently.  So far no problems - but you'll need to get 2 additional splitter cables (PCIEXSPLIT6).  There are more discussions about this on the forum here.

What batch do you have? Newest batches need more than 1300watts

I don't like the idea of splitting PCIe cables at all that is a no go for me.  To spend so much on a miner then to do that seems like cutting corners.   The best thing to do is have 220/240 and be able to use server PSU's.

If your stuck on 110/120 I would go 1600 EVGA that is like 400 dollars or so... which is pricy.  I think if your serious really look into 220/240 in  all honesty if you are thinking of S7's.   Might look at Avalon 6's if your stuck on 110/120.
2931  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: VERIZON Jetpack Hot Spot Mining Rate Hike!!! on: January 07, 2016, 04:42:01 AM

Has anyone else mining through their Verizon jetpack Hotspot that noticed recent change in how they bill for data usage?

I am being logged for data now going to "gaming" and the only thing I can figure is they
changed the way they log data usage and the mining is showing up more.

MikeMike

Seems a little crazy to have all your internet through a mobile hotspot.  Are you able to use a VPN or something to send all your traffic though?

If you have a good VPN then it seems they could not charge higher, unless VPN is higher on it.  I personally have stuck with mining on a dsl connection.
2932  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: January 07, 2016, 04:38:34 AM
not mine, my friend's s7, not b8 though .. for your viewing pleasure :

I only see 2 PCIe connectors in it was the person running with 2 by chance?  Or just was able to get one out and they ran with 3?

But I hope they are in warranty that is a ugly one.  I think me and everyone would love to hear exactly what happened.
2933  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 16nm ASIC, 10THS/MINER,100w/THS on wall. on: January 07, 2016, 04:37:10 AM
Can Bitfury confirm this...I don't see them selling chips to a company without press about it...

I would agree Bitfury does confirm in cases of sales, I know they did it for Bit-X when it was doing cloud mining.

I would not touch this product at all.  My rule is if just rendering I do not buy no matter how good it sounds.  Just to many scams have used renderings and never have a product.

For the life of me I cannot get the Rpi update to work.  I have tried flashing both images to the corresponding Pi and cannot get it to work.  If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it.

Thanks...in advance

It should be a easy process to do.  If it does not work I would contact BlockC.   It's been a really long time but I know Ehash did a remote connection once when I could not get my RPI to detect a 4.1  (was quite a long time).

But they were great and helped me out.   I imagine which ever distributor you got it from will be just as helpful.
2935  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Should I Buy used or new miners? on: January 07, 2016, 04:31:10 AM
like i said new is NOT always good, for your viewing pleasure

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1165628.msg13466880#msg13466880

Did they try to power it with only 2 pcie cords?  I only see 2 in pictures that they cut out.  I would be interested to know if they did not follow the 3 rule.

Bitcoin did do pretty well today it's currently on a up swing as we speak... so that is nice for those holding BTC.
2936  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining solo with an Ant S7 on: January 07, 2016, 04:28:18 AM
I recently bought an S7 ANtminer. Do you think its a good idea going solo with this equipment?

so it cost 1,300 and psu is 150 so out of pocket = 1450 maybe 1500

it burns 32 kwatts a day or 960 watts a month  say 10 cents = 96 dollars round to 100

so 1500 out of pocket 100 month to run 1 year later no block = loss of 2700

one year later you hit 1 block when ½ happened so 12.5 coins = 5000 in pocket.

really good luck you hit 2 blocks at 25 coins each 20,000 in pocket.

up to you to decide if losing 2700 is something you can afford to do.

I personally would not do it unless you had a large set of miners.   If you can point majority at a pool and make some profit there to cover the miner then sure if you want to try.  But if just 1 miner I personally would not solo mine my one miner.

But everyone is different you might enjoy soloing enough to lose a decent amount.  Phil did a great job on math.    I would suggest against it and find a good pool.  If you really wanted to seriously solo mine I would look into renting large amounts and trying that if you serious..... but again expensive very quickly.
2937  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What would be a good asic miner to start with? on: January 07, 2016, 04:24:21 AM
At this point in the Bitcoin mining game I would say the best miner to start with would be the SP35 Yukon Power miner.
https://vimeo.com/114685493

It's $2,235
Which is expensive but it will pay off, now that the halving is coming we really have no choice but to buy expensive ass hardware.
I've had some success with it.

Really??? Even better than S7???
Can you tell me what's the hash rate???
Or are you trying to sell it knowing that you committed a mistake buying it yourself??? Tongue

It's not better , for that amount of cash you can buy two S7 and more then likely make it back in a few months if you do it right .

Mining is not longer a few month's.  It's a longer process unless your talking about mining and selling.  Some have done good with mining with current gen and selling.  But some when Bitmain did price drops got stuck with inventory higher then current price.

I would not promise normal mining being a few months on ROI.

lol even the legit companies have there payouts under stress with difficulty rising so fast and people are posting unproven sites. My payouts at both gighash & genesis mining dropped by almost 50% in last 3 weeks. I hope either diff drops or price rises.
So, GigaHash & Genesis Mining are two super legit cloud mining company. Ok Sir. You enlightened me.

sin that is always sent from China, I got tired of paying so much money for shipping and customs charges

I deleted one post as it was same thing.  They actually don't ship all from China.  China is covered by Ehash.  BlockC covers everything else:
BlockC - Global Master Distributor: http://www.blockc.co/collections/blockc-co-shop/products/avalon6-bitcoin-miner
Ehash - Sales within China: https://ehash.com/product/avalon6-v6-0/

So Europe should go to BlockC.   As far as customs that is your country not the miner company.   I can understand it stinks to pay it... but your country is one doing it.
