2921  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling - Cheaper fees on: September 23, 2017, 10:18:54 PM
Anyone got news about bitcoin hard fork in November, confirmation, another Bitcoin???
Much appreciated

It has all the makings of a perfect shit storm. Very weak replay protection implemented on both sides. If you thought claiming your bitcoin cash was complicated, if two distinct chains are established between Core and segwit2x, it's going to be real difficult to avoid replay unless you don't move coins at all.

Just to add to this if you do try to split ONLY move to another wallet you have the keys for DO NOT try to make your first transaction on ANY chain to an exchange or similar

So safest best is to wait maybe a few days-week after the hardfork for things to settle, and then move your coin to either an exchange or another bitcoin wallet???
Much appreciated again.

I would get a Trezor and move all of your BTC to those private keys and wait for Slush to come up with an easy solution. (Just a personal preference though.)
2922  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HASHNEST Discussion and Support Thread on: September 23, 2017, 03:06:45 PM
China may ban mining:

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/bitcoin-mining-operators-in-china-could-be-next-target-why-it-does-not-matter/
http://www.trustnodes.com/2017/09/19/china-bans-bitcoin-executives-leaving-country-miners-preparing-worst

This seems understandable, because when exchanges are closed the Chinese still may buy asics and mine Bitcoins (effectively converting yuans to crypto).

Is Hashnest going to move its facilities to another country?
Please correct me if I am wrong but Hasnest is owned by Bitmain and Bitmains mining operation is located in Mongolia (Source). Mongolia is neither part of China or Russia. Mongolia have their own Government and President which is Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj so in terms of moving to another location, I don't think that's going to happen because of Chinas new regulation to ban Bitcoin.
No they are in Lower Mongolia which is part of China. Just like New Mexico is part of the US. But no need to worry. I'm sure Bitmain has the capability of moving operations if need be. You don't think Bitmain is just going to give up, do you?
2923  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 23, 2017, 02:16:20 PM
Had a nightmare that I woke up and the price was ~2,2k so it was quite surprising to see this upswing.

That's not a nightmare; cheap coins would be awesome.  I want to get my 21 coins!

2.2 K would be great. May even tempt me to start accumulating. Grin

Well it appears, today, the Yobit wallet is no longer working. Looks like the party may be over. I put in a support ticket, but we know how that goes with Yobit.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCPqaG8sVDE

Edit: Maybe it's not so bad. It appears the vast majority of wallets on Yobit are in delayed status, at the moment. This even includes BTC. Hope they get it fixed, soon.

Further edit: All fixed now. that was faster than expected. Smiley

~1.3% hashrate for BCash Alt-coin  Cheesy

They have two emergency difficulty adjustments coming up, soon. It appears that the magical mystery miner(s) are back online after cooling off a bit to make the EDAs happen. Now the magical mystery miner(s) can resume mining the vast majority of the blocks, without being bothered by the vulture miners, since the profitability with be just lower than parity for BTC.

Edit:It appears they may have allowed the difficulty to go too low. Expect a big increase in hash rate within the next couple of blocks... It's going to be kind of close though. May be just below parity if you consider transaction fees for BTC.
2927  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 22, 2017, 01:23:03 AM
If China bans the Chinese miners and they have to shut down and move, that would be short term bearish but soooo hella bullish in the long term.

Think about it. They would have to move equipment from provinces where they are essentially getting free electricity, to places that would actually charge them money per kwh. It would level the playing field with other miners scattered all over the world. They would then have to hold more and charge more for their mined bitcoin.

I could be wrong, but I do not see China banning Bitcoin mining. There is no "capital flight" when miners are exporting Bitcoins for Euros and Dollars. Any Yuan they might spend for operations, is kept inside the Chinese economy. I'm sure the PBOC will welcome the importing of Dollars and Euros.
China could do a take over of the mining operations to make sure it's running in such a way to be in line with China's economic goals, however...

BTC moved to Bitfinex, confirmed fast, sold, done.

BCH moved to Bitfinex, only 2 confirmations after what 3 hours now?

Let's just say, I have my doubts about BCH now. This will cost me a lot of money.

I will ride it for trading but when push comes to shove, seems like BTC is still king of the hill, sadly.

2 emergency Difficulty Adjustments have just been locked in. I expect the magical mystery miner(s) shall now return to help the blockchain along. They don't want the difficulty to go down too much to prevent vulture miners, if possible. At least that's been the plan for a while.

1 EDA is locked in. Wonder if the magical mystery miner(s) and BTC.TOP will allow for a second one. Smiley

Edit:Two locked in, but it does not appear that we will getting a third.

BTFD mode aKtiv8ed!

Yeah, I'm smelling a pretty weak attempt at a dump so far. I guess we'll see.

Incidentally The Club did their usual drive by on Gold and Silver today. Managed to get Gold sub 1300, but by the looks of it I don't think it will last long.

There seems to be a longer game at play here. Somethings brewing within the next 6-10 months.

But I want the BTC back that I sold at 3300 USD.  Cry

I wouldn't read too much into it but if true then i would be surprised I would say down to point 2 at the most

1/ For people asking about China update, our contacts say we haven’t seen the worst yet. More below (note: this is all unconfirmed for now)…
2/ The most conservative outcome being that all OTC trading is banned which indirectly kills all miners (can’t sell mined BTC).
3/ The most aggressive outcome is a straight takeover of mining facilities by the State.
4/ Our sources say we’ll see extreme punishment for some crypto execs that invested client funds without their consent
5/ Also hearing reports of a LOT of mining equipment available for sale at STEEP discounts for anyone that wants to own the risk.
6/ Note again, that this is all unconfirmed and should be considered a speculative rumor for now. There's a lot of rumors floating around.

2- imagine that..cant sell mined btc = no miners dump and less coins on the market  Shocked
5 - steep discounted mining equipment....where lol, lemme buy it  Cheesy

my take on this stuff is...
i dont care, when i look all alternatives...nothing offers me long term security as much as crypto. (pm's are 2nd)

fiat ..esp $$ is doomed, a currency that has been propped up by wars, created out of thin air..(frb,qe) is something i dont want ,
everyday more and more countries are becoming fed up with this.

As i have said many times, if china leaves any crypto spaces, other countries will take over.

I dont think China will leave the crypto space completely. They want to be in it too, probably with better regulation all around. If they decide to leave Japan and Korea will surely take over.

Bitmain probably has operations elsewhere and can have someone run their hot and cold wallets from a location outside of China. So they can dispose of their BTC via any exchange the wish. China probably doesn't mind Dollars or Euros being imported, anyway.

Anybody that remembers this sound is too damn old now.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFBLiHpkcOk

I also remember downloading porn pics with my 2400 baud modem. Was like a strip tease.  Grin When I upgraded to 14.4K, I thought that I was really flying. A 10 sec video clip only took about 30 minutes.

Those were sexy times lol.

The AOL chat rooms really helped my sex life.  Grin

Last video game I played was Ms Pacman.  Cheesy (Although it was only a few weeks ago.)

That pill-popping hussy ruined my childhood.

Don't talk about my girlfriend like that.  Angry She was my best friend in High School. I had some good friends that were D&D characters, but they kept getting killed off.

^hopefully loud , so i can hear every satoshi being mined  Cheesy

Maybe the Japanese will stick a 7mm on a USB stick. Then I'll be happy. Although I probably won't earn much, still. I wonder how hot the USB stick will get though with a 7mm. Had to use an oven mitt to remove the old bitfury usb stick miner.

I bet them 7mm ASIC chips are huge  Cheesy I think you mean nm

Yes nm.  Cheesy

Too bad that I live in apartment, and Antminers are way too noisy from what I hear. I personally can't stand the sound of high pitched computer fans. Kind of like scratching a chalkboard to me. When I ran my Rockminer back in the day, the fans drove me crazy. Had to relegate it to a utility closet. Can't imagine what a Bitmain rig is like.

Is anybody watching this? BTC is going down, BCH is going up! Shocked

Good, I hope the BCH supporters keep pumping this up. An increase up to .16 BTC should make this worthwhile for me to use some of that spare BTC that I have on MMR. I'm keeping a close eye on this.  Grin

Does somebody know how much time does one BCH transaction take?

Can I check that somewhere?

Thanks in advance  Smiley

http://blockdozer.com/insight/blocks

this'll tell you how fast blocks are arriving. the exchange you're using will tell you if they want a high number of confirmations.

Thanks Smiley ... than one Block takes approximatelly up to 30 min ... if I need 4 confirmations the transaction will take ~ 2h?

Am I right?

This may give a better idea of the current generation time. 4 confirmations are taking a little less than an hour at the moment.
