2921  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: For those who wears a signature of gamble service campaigns on: February 29, 2020, 10:24:35 PM
You know, you hit the spot here:  Some even make the mistake of speaking against gambling while they are carrying a gambling signature.
You can't pretend you like gambling just because you're wearing a gambling signature. Unless it is stated in the campaign thread, I guess we're allowed to speak freely about it.

It`s a subject for another thread, but I don`t know if people will be totally honest to answer if they believe in the service they are promoting
~
More than 50% of the things people promote are likely not something they personally like or use. If ChipMixer had accepted you in their sig campaign, I'm more than sure you'd accept it even if you do not use/support their service. The amount of BTC you're going to earn will trigger a positive answer to their offer. It's a psychological thing we do as humans.
2922  Other / Meta / Re: Total count of received & spent merit in the last 120 days on: February 29, 2020, 09:58:19 PM
Thanks! I had a feeling you guys must've had some hippity hoppity kind of tools to save precious minutes of my life doing some calculus.

Now based on the received answers, I'll make a summary of the four methods and I'll add this post to OP in case others need it:

METHOD I: BPIP (thanks o_e_l_e_o)
   1. Go to this online calendar to find out what date was it 120 days ago: https://www.convertunits.com/dates/daysfromnow/-120
   2. Go to https://bpip.org/smerit.aspx?to=YOURUSERNAME&start=YYYY-MM-DD (change YOURUSERNAME to your BTCTalk username and YYYY-MM-DD to the date from above)
   3. At the bottom of the loaded BPIP page, you'll see the total Merits you've received in the last 120 days.

METHOD II: GreatArkansas' Telegram Bot (thanks Rikafip)
   1. Go to GreatArkansas' thread and follow the instructions.

METHOD III: Loyce Club (thanks o_e_l_e_o)
   1. Go here: http://loyce.club/Merit/history/806196.html
   2. Look at the sum of merits you had earned 120 days ago.
   3. Look at the sum of merits you have earned today.
   4. Subtract the two.

METHOD IV: tranthidung's unofficial service (thanks hosseinimr93)
   1. Go to this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5211129 and follow OP's instructions

I can trigger an update on a file on loyce.club to count this after every post made in this topic. Shouldn't take too long to make if anyone's interested, and it'll update within a few seconds after posting.
I can also get 120days.tk for it.

I'm going to get booze now though, so it won't happen tonight.
Only if you wish. But I think it might be better if you start a new thread on your own account for that - I want your acc to take the deserved merits for the work, not me.
2923  Other / Meta / Total count of received & spent merit in the last 120 days on: February 29, 2020, 09:13:03 PM
Quickest way to get your sent/received merits for the last 120 days:
LoyceV has created this handy tool for this purpose. Instructions are very simple:

Quote
Update: Post in this topic, then go to loyce.club/120days
This shouldn't take more than a few seconds to update.
Since this subject has been discussed in more topics, I can link this functionality to other topics too. Feel free to send me requests.

Another very quick way to get your sent/received merits for the last 120 days:
PrimeNumber7 has posted a method giving you the total received merits for the last 120 days in a matter of seconds. The steps are very simple:
   1. Go to this website, but make sure you change UID to your BitcoinTalk User ID: https://bitcointalk-merit-api.herokuapp.com/api/v0.1/received_recent/UID
   2. Bookmark the website
   3. Enter the bookmarked link whenever you need to check your received merits!
You can find more information about other functionality of the API in the below thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5232108.0

UPDATE: Here is how to get the total number of earned merits in the last 120 days - all credits go to the users below:

METHOD I: BPIP (thanks o_e_l_e_o)
   1. Go to this online calendar to find out what date was it 120 days ago: https://www.convertunits.com/dates/daysfromnow/-120
   2. Go to https://bpip.org/smerit.aspx?to=YOURUSERNAME&start=YYYY-MM-DD (change YOURUSERNAME to your BTCTalk username and YYYY-MM-DD to the date from above)
   3. At the bottom of the loaded BPIP page, you'll see the total Merits you've received in the last 120 days.

METHOD II: GreatArkansas' Telegram Bot (thanks Rikafip)
   1. Go to GreatArkansas' thread and follow the instructions.

METHOD III: Loyce Club (thanks o_e_l_e_o)
   1. Go here: http://loyce.club/Merit/history/806196.html
   2. Look at the sum of merits you had earned 120 days ago.
   3. Look at the sum of merits you have earned today.
   4. Subtract the two.

METHOD IV: tranthidung's unofficial service (thanks hosseinimr93)
   1. Go to this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5211129 and follow OP's instructions

METHOD V: TryNinja's Tampermonkey script (thanks TryNinja)
   1. Download the Tampermonkey extension for your browser
   2. Go to this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5148488.msg53143412#msg53143412
   3. Add the userscript from the post above in Tampermonkey

METHOD VI: DdmrDdmr's Merit Dashboard (thanks DroomieChikito)
   1. Go to this online calendar to find out what date was it 120 days ago: https://www.convertunits.com/dates/daysfromnow/-120
   2. Go to DdmrDdmr's Merit Dashboard
   3. On the right side of the page, insert your username in the "To User Name" field
   4. Change the data range to start from the calendar date you have found from step 1
   5. Under "Total Received" on the right side of the website, you'll see the total Merit received in the last 120 days.

METHOD VII: Import Theymos' dump merit into Excel (thanks DroomieChikito)
   1. Go to this post and follow the instructions.

Original post:

Every time I want to know how much merit I've spent or received in the last 120 days or a campaign asks me to write that into the participation post, I have to manually add every single number on a calculator to get a total result.

I suggest adding the total count of merit received and spent in the last 120 days, I think it would be pretty useful to quite a lot of members here. In my mind, it's just a little formula the administrator could add next to the "Received in the last 120 days" text.. something like "Received in the last 120 days: 252 Merits"

In my mind, it sounds like a rather simple formula that could be added on the Merits page. I've looked for this number many times but have never found an easier way to get it.. Thoughts? Cheesy
2924  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: The US closes big sale of $40 million Bitcoin on: February 29, 2020, 08:21:25 PM
Probably not. I don't think bidders are worried about government surveillance.

I believe bidders actually pay a premium above market for government auctioned bitcoins since they are whitelisted and there is no possibility of unwanted taint. They are buying from the government so they can hold and sell the bitcoins out in the open using traditional legal channels.
It'd be a very stupid move to buy coins off USMS and try to then go off the government's radar. That is consciously getting yourself in trouble.

Even if you pay a premium, you're not on a loss. To buy $40M worth of BTC, it means you have to either keep fulfilling the cheapest Sell Orders from the order book until you get to fill your $40M order (which most likely means creating a long ass candle on the chart and buying at exaggerated prices) or you have to become a buy wall (which is not necessarily a bad idea, but you get the point).

Through auction, your "order" (bid) is fulfilled instantly. There's no time to wait - you win the bid, you get the coins.
2925  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Selling unloaded 5casascius physical bitcoin on: February 29, 2020, 04:19:52 PM
The forum has had way too many scumbags not to put a question mark above Newbies asking for money. If you think it thoroughly, I'm sure you'll find out is a very normal procedure to warn newcomers about Newbies who may be trying to trap them into a scam. New members here may think the forum is very strictly moderated, when in fact it offers you a bit higher-than-usual dose of freedom which allows you to take advantage of the forum to propagate a shitty scam.

If your intentions are good and there's no negative intent behind what you're doing, I apologize in advance. You have to understand our point too. Better to prevent than not. Smiley
2926  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Selling unloaded 5casascius physical bitcoin on: February 29, 2020, 04:11:40 PM
I only said the selfie & today's date does not help in your case. Your rush triggers a big question mark about your intentions.
2927  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Selling unloaded 5casascius physical bitcoin on: February 29, 2020, 03:58:17 PM
Looks like the only thing you want to do here is ask for money for 2 different reasons (Casascius + Loan) and crying because people are suspecting you. You're a Newbie. It's more than normal for people to doubt you. And by the way, this is a public place. Anyone can give a shit about what you're doing if they want to.

If you ever want to do some business here, you better start slower.
"Today's date" and "selfie" does not help with anything.

Screenshot in case the other post is deleted.

Archived the loan thread and this one with the replies so far.
2928  Economy / Speculation / Re: How will the Halving affect the BTC price? on: February 29, 2020, 03:33:28 PM
Well, I am pretty sure there are way more miners going for speculation than you think. That's how it most likely became popular to mine BTC: whoever mined BTC in 2015 when a Bitcoin was worth $170-200 had their mined coins become worth 100x more two years later. Think of how many have invested in BTC when its price was between $10k and $20k hoping another 10-100x increase would follow - I could easily link this to what happens with mining.

The title asks about the way halving affects the price and the post asks how will it affect miners... which one do you want to know? Cheesy
2929  Economy / Economics / Re: Money value inflation Feeling that money is not worthed?? on: February 29, 2020, 03:19:45 PM
Absolutely. It's a quite smooth transition from today's purchasing power to tomorrow's weaker purchasing power, so on a daily/weekly basis it's not that big of a change.

I don't know if countries using USD or EUR feel the same, but 10 years ago here in Romania you could've filled a shopping cart with ~100-150 EUR while today you'd fill half of it with the same amount of money.

Inflation is very real and a very legit problem we're most likely all experiencing. I've always admired this following statement: "Gold does not become more expensive. It's fiat losing its purchasing power."
2930  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will the difficulty change and block halving take place on the same block? on: February 29, 2020, 01:03:40 PM
This is the correct answer. You can see a list of all previous difficulty adjustments, including the block numbers as multiples of 2016, here: https://btc.com/stats/diff
~
Thanks, I was looking for that link to make sure I'm not writing bullshit but couldn't find it anywhere. Cheesy

That is the target, but it is usually less than that due to the hashrate increasing the majority of the time. If you take a look at the link I shared above, you'll see the average block time (certainly over the last 20-30 difficulty readjustments) has been less than 10 minutes. If we look at the last 20 adjustments, they cover a period of 271 days (May 30th through February 25th), instead of the target 280 days.
Interesting to know.
2931  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will the difficulty change and block halving take place on the same block? on: February 29, 2020, 12:20:25 PM
The block difficulty changes every 2016 blocks. That means the difficulty will be changed on block #628992 and block #631008. Therefore, the difficulty is not adjusted with the halving at the same time.

It's a simple calculus:

Divide block #630000 by 2016 and that results in the following number: 312.5.
312.5 is right in between 312 and 313, so multiply 312 and 313 separately by 2016 and you'll get the following numbers: 628992 and 631008.
630000 is in between these two numbers (block heights), so they will not coincide.

Edit:
In other words, difficulty adjustment will happen 1008 blocks before and after the halving.. or approximately a week before and after - as far as I know, it takes about 2 weeks for 2016 blocks to be solved. Smiley
2932  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-02-28] Can Bitcoin Be Seized as Self-Proclaimed BTC Creator Craig Wright C on: February 29, 2020, 11:40:57 AM
If we ever reach the times when BTC could be seized, I will change my view on Bitcoin as in I will think BTC is over.

There is absolutely 0 point in seizing something that is supposed and created to be decentralized. If we take decentralization and the trustless feature of BTC away from it, the only difference between the crypto king and fiat is going to be the non-physical existance of BTC and transparency (although BTC wouldn't be transparent anymore if I, as an authority, can move coins to the wallets according to my liking).

To me it seems like CShitW is trying to act as if he's supporting regulation 100%, but that contradicts the facts. Trying to play innocent doesn't work very well for him.
2933  Other / Off-topic / Re: Windows 10 update can delete your files! on: February 29, 2020, 09:33:06 AM
I always keep 2 backups of all my files just in case. I've had enough hard drive failures and silly mistakes that cost me either money or some very important data.

Now I've moved from Windows to Linux and it's not only so much smoother but feels safer too. Smiley Backups are golden when shit like this happens.
2934  Other / Meta / Re: [LOG] The ranked up members - Congratulations! on: February 29, 2020, 12:18:24 AM
I now have enough merits to become a Hero too, but not enough activity. One more month and I can celebrate the rankup. Cheesy
2935  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New Bitcoin ATM map on: February 29, 2020, 12:15:48 AM
Every stinkin' one I've ever encountered in the USA wants some form of ID
You gotta give Europe a visit then. Here we have quite a lot of them with no KYC up to a certain sum per tx or no KYC at all. I haven't tried cashing out though, that might be a different story. I have never encountered a KYC situation when buying though.
2936  Economy / Services / Re: [ENDED] EARNBET SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN | SENIOR, HERO & LEGENDARY MEMBER | on: February 28, 2020, 10:32:30 PM
Do we have any update regarding the 6th week payment?
2937  Economy / Economics / Re: Corona Virus is a Fake Flag to destroy China! on: February 28, 2020, 09:04:27 PM
As far as I know Corona Virus won't survive in a hot countries so there are countries that are exempted with the target of this virus. The media are making this kind of virus as lethal as much as they want when in fact there are most lethal viruses that already existed before.

Although it is now considered as lethal since scientists and doctors haven't found a single anti vaccine for this kind of epidemic. There are ways too to avoid of being infected with the said virus, so why are these people are too afraid and starting to panic when their government is trying to prevent it from spreading?

1. The virus is now present in Africa: Egypt (apparently the case was solved through recovery), Algeria and Nigeria. Out of these 3, Nigeria has the highest temperature. I'm curious to find out what's going to happen with the infection from Nigeria. If that survives and turns into an African Coronavirus outbreak, it means the virus can become resistent to heat.

2. People are panicking because this is something most of us haven't been through before and panic + hysteria is propagated now on a worldwide level. Take a look at stocks and see why people are panicking. If the virus isn't fatal, the crash happening today will be fatal for the global economy. Only few are ready for a month-long (or longer) quarantine and I've heard many people around me running out of money because of the large sums they had to spend on supplies. The worst part is, most money is spent on the wrong stuff. Guess what happens when everyone is running out of money..

3. The governments are trying to prevent it from spreading, but keep in mind that the quarantine cannot take place forever. At one point, the quarantine will have to end and the virus could still appear from one place or another.

I currently fear the virus has been a plan (USA or any other world power, doesn't even matter anymore) and the more the time passes, the stronger the virus becomes. If this is a laboratory invention, at any given time they could create and release a stronger version of it. Take a look at Event 201. Add that to the population reduction ideas of some of the most influencing personalities in the world and it starts to look and sound like a pretty scary scenario.
2938  Other / Off-topic / Re: [Info] Brave Browser Turn Out To Be The Most Private Browser From The Study on: February 28, 2020, 08:40:50 PM
I installed the browser only once a few months ago just 'cause I was curious about it, but once I found out that KYC is a requirement to earn BAT I said no thanks and uninstalled it straight away. Cheesy It's the biggest turnoff for me. I understand the regulation-friendly purpose of this KYC implementation in the browser, but giving away my identity for a few bucks per month is a silly move that makes no sense to me.

My identity isn't worth the reward of $10 a month (took this figure from this website).
2939  Other / Meta / Re: Can you create a signature campaign for OP posts? on: February 28, 2020, 08:25:34 PM
If a campaign asks something like this, people will create a thread for every news headline there is.
~
We have enough members already doing that. Take a look over the Bitcoin Discussion board and you'll get an idea. I think more than 70% of the topics there are articles.
2940  Other / Meta / Re: Can you create a signature campaign for OP posts? on: February 28, 2020, 07:31:38 PM
This most likely leads to an insane boost in new created threads and nobody will participate in others' threads because their only interest is to create new ones themselves.

I don't want this to become the next CryptoShit forum. We're already having enough members leaving their crap to dry everywhere on the forum. Not to mention newbies will start creating threads instead of posts, thinking the campaign managers will accept them only if they have some long-ass useless threads hanging around the forum.

Moreover, I believe there's a difference between creating a thread and writing a reply. Creating a thread needs a pretty good structure (I have some shitty threads myself). How will one qualify for a campaign (or how will a manager accept someone) without the participant spamming with new threads?
