2921  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies: Stay away and avoid all bounties! on: May 09, 2022, 08:48:17 AM
Take a look with this user Smking1212 he's a bounty hunter maximalist where almost of his posts posted on Bounties section (1296 from 1308 posts or 99%). Currently he already have 518 activity which is enough to become a Hero Member, but he never earn any single merit even he's an active user, that make he's still a newbie rank.
This is one area that the merit system has been very productive. Though subjective, it has helped to discourage spamming. No matter how anyone wants to help that user, they're likely going to find it difficult what post to merit. It's that bad. There were occasions in the past that I took it upon myself to look for users who had zero merit but enough activities to senior rank so I could merit them. Sadly, most of those I found were users whose posts were basically bounty reports.

OP, all you said about bounty not worth it is true. Bounty this day is like faucet.
2922  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can i transfer from private wallet to CEX privately? on: May 09, 2022, 07:58:20 AM
My innocent question would be – Why use Cex if you seek absolute privacy while you can do your transactions on Dex, OP? Even on Trust Wallet app, you can do your business without anyone peeping. Even if they peep, no one sees anything. There is BTC option among others. Come to think of it, if you go the way of Cex that doesn't ask a KYC now; there isn't a guarantee that they wouldn't in future. I remember getting on Binance in 2017 without a KYC but look at where we are today with Binance.
2923  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to Create a Quality Post (Topics). on: May 08, 2022, 06:14:17 PM
See a thread in this forum where a mistake of misspelling, became one of the most quality posts in this forum and a monumental word in crypto. Instead of HOLDING, he spelt HODLING.
I AM HODLING
Honestly, GameKyuubi's post started as a jab but later found lines among posters who loved out of the box kind of stuff. They saw his error as something they could embrace and soon turned it into reference point. The comments there were really refreshing and a reminder of our inability to truly know what the future hoDls. I'm sure that's the post with the highest number of merit earned till date (I suspect it is, anyway). This is the reason I advise posters to just be themselves and write as their spirit and ability allow them. Don't struggle to please anyone. Try to better yourself but certainly not to please anyone.
2924  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want to know on: May 08, 2022, 04:19:34 PM
To Rank up your forum account merut is essential.Because when you will have some merits and activity you will be promoted to a higher rank. And to earn merit you have to contribute in forum by helping others and spreading knowledge.
Well, just contribute constructively anyway as that will help sieve spammers from genuine posters. That's basically all that is to the merit system. Anything else is an addendum like when some posters got their alt accounts exposed through merit abuse and they were proven connections to them as they strived to earn merit at all cost.

Besides how to earn merit and what it stands for, OP should equally know that merit giving is subjective and that also makes what is "constructive"  subjective. It completely depends on who is reading your posts to pass that judgment. Don't pressure yourself into trying to please anyone so as to earn merit and rank up. It doesn't work that way. Just be yourself and do your normal posts which should be aimed at helping others solve a problem or two.
2925  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Few Steps To Avoid Losses In Trading. on: May 08, 2022, 03:25:00 PM
OP, your points are apt and that's true to be successful in trading those salient points must be adhered to. However, you should also have to add a complete control of "emotion" during trading. Lack of self control over one's emotion will mess up an entire good trading plan.

these shitcoins makes really awesome movements which is what actually attracts traders to them. It's a dilemma.
Exactly! You can't compare the level of volatility of such tokens to that of Bitcoin. They give better ROI than Bitcoin and can only be less risky to trade them on short term. Anything short of that isn't advisable. We've to remember that there are many investors who have good memories of them just the same way a lot of others also have sad and regrettable memories of why they invested in them.
2926  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The Signal to Start Trading and the Signal to Close Trading on: May 08, 2022, 02:51:12 PM
Trading is not so difficult as it was told. But the difficult part in trading is when to enter the market and when to Close the market.
So, what else is trading if not those two difficult parts you rightly mentioned? Basically, that's what trading is all about. It's about buying and selling. Entering and exiting the market skillfully is what makes someone a profitable trader or a loser. Those two are germane and extremely important to surviving in trading.

To survive getting burnt, only take trades from higher time frames. Chances of making profit from higher time frames exist and are more realizable than those of lower time frames.
2927  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sending Crypto to the wrong address on: May 08, 2022, 01:59:09 PM
  • Did it happen to you?
I'm a very meticulous person when it comes to finance. Yet, I did happen to me but that's once. I hope I don't get to count another incident of that. Luckily for me it was to a contract address I sent the token and it reverted within a few minutes. I held my breath while all that lasted as soon as I realized my mistake.

Quote
  • How comfortable are you every time you transfer to a remote address?
I bet you, nobody would be happy or comfortable if it happened to them.

Quote
  • What do you use today to mitigate this risk?
I like to crosscheck the first four letters of the address, the middle and then the last four. Other times I just zoom out on the numbers to compare them side by side with the apps I'm sending from and to when I've pasted on the send tab. I truly take my time whenever I'm transacting. The principle of "No hurry in life" should be aptly applied to crypto transactions, honestly.

So far, so good for me. I'm okay doing the check myself and not likely to need a helper.
2928  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Some annoying things that beginners do (but also some old members) on: May 07, 2022, 06:47:47 PM
Of course, this is not always the case because some members do not know that there is another way - here is one case from yesterday that obviously annoyed a mod so much that instead of merging posts, he simply deleted everything.

https://archive.ph/d6Q4R
This is the reason that I don't like viewing and rationalizing things conclusively without leaving room for benefit of the doubt. In the case of the member whose post as archived you've shared here, we can see that it was done ignorantly as they couldn't have been in a campaign at the time owing that it's a newbie with 23 posts. Account was registered in March 2022. That's less than two months. If the member were high ranked, we would've summarily concluded that it was to boast post count whereas that could've been done ignorantly. Oh, yes! There are countless high ranked users who aren't conversant with rules of this forum.

Reading the word "Sir" when you're not is pretty funny.
I guess you've countless laughs on that too 😆. It's the same way Lauda would've had it as many of us couldn't tell whether they be male or female.
2929  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is your bitcoin hero (excluding Satoshi)? on: May 06, 2022, 05:08:39 PM
They distributed or sold for peanuts tens of thousands of their bitcoin to ensure that Bitcoin did not become centralised.
You can't be certain that was why they sold. For me, off course I know they didn't sell off all they had just to ensure that Bitcoin doesn't become centralized. Nope, that's not true. They would've sold to take advantage of the market for profit. At the time, virtually nobody had an idea that Bitcoin would be this big the way that it's today.

i mean 'michael j. saylor' of 'microstrategy', he's a true believer of bitcoin.
Definitely, he is. I read a post a few minutes ago where someone calculated how much Microstrategy was losing in this ongoing bearish momentum. Those who jeer at him now should also be willing to praise him when price bounces back to profit.
2930  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MicroStrategy Finance results unveils how whales suffer big loss. on: May 06, 2022, 04:08:57 PM
At least, for a change someone is seeing a perceived investment loss for a whale and not the regular sob story of how a whale is manipulating the market. We often think that whales are immune to losses. However, no one loses until they sell and I don't think whales panic as much as retail investors do. With a long term mindset, I don't believe Microstrategy will even be bothered with what's happening in the market ATM. Long term hodlers are diamond hands and not paper hands.
2931  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Bitcoin teaching approach on: May 06, 2022, 03:17:20 PM
OP, go ahead with your aspiration to teach Bitcoin to them. The students should love it, provided you're going to make it less confusing like mathematics. You know how students dread maths; it will be better you teach them aspect of Bitcoin that will interest them. The interest will then spur them up to further research on it. You should start with the financial capabilities of Bitcoin or entirely dwell on that aspect. It should interest them. Most students don't like anything that will stress their reading habit. Just go light with them. Again, don't panic that the school authority will prevent you from doing that. Just let them know what you want to do and ensure that you cover the school curriculum and your work load. They will be fine with it. I'm talking from experience.
2932  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where Bitcoin has been googled the most? on: May 06, 2022, 02:49:32 PM
It's highly refreshing to know that Nigeria is number two in countries that have searched more about Bitcoin in the world. It's the same way Nigeria ranks high too in forex trading. We've the enterprising and entrepreneurial spirit which has continued to further the "I can do" mentality. Despite not having the best of political leadership, Nigerians have continued to prove themselves worthy of emulation. I don't care the stereotype our inept and corrupt political class has thrown the rest of us into that has often made us laughing stock in the comity of nations (even here too) because of prejudice as if those who sneer at us are more sanctimonious than we are. Nigeria is a great country, only our politicians are the rubbish in it.
2933  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP ] BestChange Signature Campaign | Sr Member+ on: May 05, 2022, 06:38:11 AM
Ok no problem, I didnt know what CFNP meant.
Oh, really? That's very interesting to know for an account that has been here since 2013.

This means you are still fluently speaking German language, or you suddenly suffered some terrible disease that affected your memory of your previous life?
Hopefully, the user says Yes to the first question while No to the second 🤔.
2934  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Some annoying things that beginners do (but also some old members) on: May 03, 2022, 07:53:40 PM
I think the Oxford dictionary agrees with my definition of the word 'sir'.
Quote from: Oxford dictionary
Used as a polite way of addressing a man whose name you do not know, for example in a shop/store or restaurant
I'm not sure anyone will dispute the correctness of that usage. What I tried to explain (as advanced by some users too) is that it's not necessary using "sir" on social media where people are seemingly faceless.

BTW, you just committed one of the things the OP pointed out – Posting multiple posts in a row
Is that correct?
I already answered your question in the above. However, I think where such doesn't count as an offence is in the local board. Though I see a lot of veteran users do that in other boards too.
2935  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pi network on: May 03, 2022, 07:12:28 PM
I got upset and deactivate my account with them, all the months I have minned Pi, never knew the Project was a scam.
I try as much as I can to avoid any project asking me for a KYC while not listed on reputable any exchange. Even when I want to compromise my privacy, I raise the bar doing it. I once enrolled in a bounty here and at the end of it a KYC was asked for before distribution could be effected. I opted out, forfeiting my reward. It was a difficult but nice decision I took as those who submitted theirs didn't finally get the reward. Pi smelt of scam right from the beginning. I wonder why many didn't see through it.
2936  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: TA or FA which is a better choice for market speculation. on: May 03, 2022, 05:33:34 PM
I'm more of a TA than FA person. I recognize that the two work together for the same purpose of achieving gain, and that's the manner I use them. No TA person relies on TA alone but an FA person can rely solely on news and still be profitable. The only time a TA person doesn't reply on FA is if they're going in on long term. They tend to look at trend from higher time-frames of Weekly & monthly, discover it and ride on it without minding momentary news. If charts are plotted well, price is expected to follow that path either slowly or quickly. That journey of when price will finally hit target from the eye of TA depends on news. This is why support and resistant lines are very important in charts.
2937  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Some annoying things that beginners do (but also some old members) on: May 03, 2022, 02:20:51 PM
~
In my neighbourhood, I greet every male occupant with Sir and they reciprocate by replying with sir. Things goes well especially when you don't know their names and does not wish to know.
Then, when I worked with a company, everyone is addressed by their names including the CEO.
The situation I described in that quote is one that deals with online and social media. You hardly know the ages of people you're dealing with. However, if I happen to guess than a user is older than I am maybe because I've seen their real picture on Facebook or on other identity revealing sites, I won't hesitate to address them as sir. That's my point. Of course, in real life we know those who are older than we are and it will be disrespectful not to acknowledge that all in the name of sounding woke. I won't do that.

BTW, you just committed one of the things the OP pointed out – Posting multiple posts in a row
2938  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be patient, don't get discouraged. on: May 03, 2022, 10:51:38 AM
maybe one of the reason they left because they can ranked up it just my opinion, cause some people join this forum to do bounty work like i do. and lower rank usually get little reward especially signature bounty
No doubt, it's highly possible they left because they felt ranking up was an uphill task. However, they ought to persevere and in the awareness that nothing good comes that easy. I'm sure they will feel worse when a few months or years later they return to find users they knew were on the same rank with them have ranked up, way above them. It's like a man getting sapped of his ego. They lose ranking up as well as the knowledge they would've gained during the period.
2939  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Some Errors We Make In Trading Crypto on: May 03, 2022, 10:35:52 AM
  • Going all in- it a very bad habit, never ever put all your eggs in one basket. it's a popular saying.
To be sincere with you, there are times I regretted not going all in. Those were times when tokens I invested low did extremely well. There have been several instances like that and it hurts to know that one could've made a kill out of it but missed because one wanted to observe the not putting all eggs in one basket thing. How would you feel if a token you saw at $2+ and you only threw $20+ at it. A few months later that same token went up as high as $370+. That is my story with CiFi. So, sometimes it's good to break out of the box and stereotype. Do the unthinkable sometimes but make sure you don't get deeply hurt if it goes awry.
2940  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: So Many Exchanges out there on: May 03, 2022, 09:43:51 AM
OP, it's indeed a newbie kind of question you raised here. However, no one truly knows it all. There are so many pointers from other users above which already should've answered your question. So, I won't belabour it

You can use instant exchange like changenow or changelley, but you can be asked for KYC at anytime.
Oh, I remember how Changelly have me my first start in crypto exchange. The site was user friendly and transactions were speedily done. Then, there wasn't any need for a KYC. Just an email for registration, that was all. I used to exchange my earned BTC from campaigns to Dogecoin on the site. There were few cryptos I knew back then and I felt those penny coins would explode like Bitcoin was doing at the time in 2017. Dogecoin and Lisk were among them. I later got onto centralized exchanges and began real trading and almost forgot about Changelly. Fast forward, a few years later I tried using Changelly again and discovered that it had added requirements that made privacy meaningless.
