2921  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: March 14, 2023, 12:30:30 PM
I am not sure if the experiment would be beneficial - when one country host an event they are solely responsible to take the advantage of it
How would this be helping 3 nations. It is beyond my understanding.

I am against the idea of granting hosting rights to 3-4 countries. Look at the 2022 world cup. All the matches were hosted by Qatar and the fans were also happy about the travel arrangements. During the 2026 world cup, the fans need to travel many thousands of miles to watch the matches. The venues are spread all across the North American continent, from Canada in the north to Mexico in the South. The hosts will obviously benefit, from increased tourist revenues and exposure. But for the fans, it is an exhausting task to reach the destinations on time.

I understand your reasoning and plight towards the combine hosting of the next world cup in Usa, Canada and Mexico by 2026 regarding the logistics and all the challenges you perceive around such kind of hosting but for me I believe all those logistical assumed challenges won't matter because there is a long time of planning from now towards it. The countries that are having this combine hosting are also in same locality and zone, so travelling in between them won't give such problem and majority of the games are going to be played in Usa and it is not like the teams are going to be traveling at intervals of a match, it is well organized. The benefit of this is to give a new taste to the world cup and allow more countries the feel at a go. Remember many countries are now interested in bidding to host the world cup and when the bidders are from close locality, they can possibly grouped together for that particular tournament hosting. But this will not be the first time for a FIFA world cup combine hosting. It has been tasted and was successful with Japan Korea in 2002, Brazil won the tournament for the fifth time that year
2922  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Some of my big losses (Gamble Responsibly) on: March 13, 2023, 03:34:25 PM
The lesson is not to over shoot the betting budget just because of the estimated reward. Some bettors don't really look at the risk of losing but are so eager for how much potential is there at the end but unfortunately we know with experience that no game is a guarantee winning because the element of hard luck can outplay itself against a "sure bet" just with what op posted on the games he expected to win. Another point is that the difference between huge win and small win is in the staking power, so keeping it gradual and betting according to what we can lose or forfeit and not according to our risk appetite because every person would like a high risk appetite.
2923  Economy / Economics / Re: Lending money or damaging family bond ? on: March 13, 2023, 01:57:23 PM
While lending out money there is no rule that says we have to be stupid, we can only act wisely. However, have you personally known this family member to be untrusted from your previous financial dealings with him or you just relied and concluded from what was said about him by others? This question is out of the misjudgement we have on others especially when we have not had that kind of personal bizarre encounter with them. Well in this kind of situation what people who fear about refund but desire to help do is, to give part of the loan money that you can afford to lose as gift not to be returned and by that you inform the receiver you don't have all of the money but that you can help with this little. Believe it there is need to keep family going rather than severing it totally by our action or inaction.
2924  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A costly gambling mistake on: March 13, 2023, 12:14:15 PM
The ToS and terms and conditions are very important to go through in whatever registration we are doing online but we seem to neglect and not read them. As for gambling, we know the anxiety that involves in it as we are always wanting the process to go very fast so that we can start gambling immediately like all the money would have been made if we are not fast enough to get in. The worse of it is where money is involved, we always seem to push the right things behind and that is the problem. It is not only newbies that neglect that important aspect of registration.
2925  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The fear of KYC requirements on: March 13, 2023, 11:30:19 AM
What I know is that some casinos conceal the withdrawal aspect and they don't make it open to the public at the point of registration and when you have made profit to withdraw then you realize the limit to withdraw without KYC and limit with KYC. This I think should be explicitly stated so that bettors will have an idea what they are registering on.
2926  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Either the Presidency or CBN should update Nigerians on old #500 and #1,000 on: March 13, 2023, 08:26:48 AM
Court should place an order than whoever refuses to collect the old money be it individual, business firms, financial institutions should be arrested and send to jail for not obeying the supreme court judgement.

My brother no be so oo. Masses no go be scape goat na when govement demselves be the culprit, dem go dey make people confuse. You see say even banks no dey collect money wey dem dish out to you and that na my earlier point as some don confirm am to be true say banks never gree accept old note. This country don dey enter anarchy small small.
2927  Economy / Economics / Re: Why do people stay poor? on: March 12, 2023, 04:37:40 PM
You don't have to go far to get some answers. Start from yourself for instance. So how is your financial status? Or those around you from families to friends. You have to also get the knowledge that everyone in the world will not be rich or on the other side poor. If you have it that way then nobody would be doing services for each other, you won't have someone called "boss or servant" etc. It all existed in the bible, example Abraham was rich in animals, gold and had lots of servants.

To deal with your question anyway, the world is not fair. It doesn't present same opportunity, challenges or circumstances to everyone therefore we deal with what is presented to us differently and we can move out or in of different financial status depending on how we handle what opportunity presented to us. Like you know of certain rich person or family in the past that were rich but today they have turned poor either because they didn't manage what opportunity they had very well and plan ahead against different government policies, environment change (world's global changes) while some poor people take those opportunity to be rich. There are different examples you can find, investment in bitcoin at the early stage or now is opportunity, taking advantage of mobile office or online businesses are some of the world's global changes.
2928  Economy / Gambling / Re: How succesful will AI projects be to win the house? on: March 12, 2023, 03:48:37 PM
As much we can try to win the house with Al by creating whatever bots to do that we can't have a satisfying win all round at every gamble we make. Gamble is a lucky based fun game and nothing beyond that, you win today, you lose more tomorrow and the circle returns to someone else. I watched some of the YouTube links you sent but they are all talking of bots and when talking about gambling, bots don't have that high performance to win against the house. Regarding to football gambling, how will the ChatGPT react to emotional challenges of players that would affect their performance on the field because even football commentators and analyse on television do make reference to all that and how it relates to their performance.
2929  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Either the Presidency or CBN should update Nigerians on old #500 and #1,000 on: March 12, 2023, 02:00:20 PM
I don carry eye look at the thread wey @ Agbe dey talk about and I know really tink say na same thing wey I ask be the same matter for there, that one make me reopen this thread.

Obviously we all sabi say supreme court don give judgement regarding the use of old naira notes to 31st December this year but this thread na to know the hardship occasioned by the non acceptance of the old 500 and 1,000 wey be the bone of the matter as I hear say some banks go give you old 500 and 1,000 but if you want still deposit those denomination, the banks no go gree accept them and that informed my topic.

So how the matter of accepting the old 5h or 1k notes be for your end?
Na the simple question be that wey I like make we focus on and no be supreme court judgement.
2930  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don’t buy Bitcoin when FUD is over on: March 11, 2023, 04:19:04 PM
Don’t buy Bitcoin when FUD is over because it’s very hard to timing when will it happened or else you will be buying at high price.

Who knows when the fud is coming or over? What are the signs for them? The timing for any of sort is never accurate and with that I think DCA is still the best way to measure out some profit at any major bull run if you already hodling. Looking for an appropriate timing will turn you into s spectator outside from the market. Only buy when you expect price can run with your hodling and you can cash out if you are not in for the long.
2931  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Is for the strong. on: March 11, 2023, 02:50:13 PM

But then he asked me' bro assuming I had gathered all these money I have lost through gambling and channeled it into some sort of a little business or project, wouldn't it have been better!  At that moment I never knew the exact word to give to him as I never expected such deep a question, for the least I replied him was "hmm I can't really say".

There come a time in the life of a repented gambler and he will start thinking he is not going the right part for him and that is the stage that your friend is and this is because he is not making profit and having a quiet moment to having a rethink with you as a second party seeking approval. He simply needs a help and willing to try the help but remember a gambler is always a gambler, he might still go back to it and this time with greater commitment with the brightest hope of winning big. However, if he will win big or not depends on his renewed strategy.

With this, I wondered if other person's here in the forum that are into gambling too has at any point in time thought or felt that way, particularly when the losses are becoming overwhelming. And in that case, should such person stop gambling and rather divert such monies into something else since he/she ain't making corresponding wins or more, checking his bet history, Or he should carry on with hopes that winnings will start creeping in someday gradually?

There are people that will go through that because it is normal to do a check on yourself after sometime but in gambling, the real addict don't see anything wrong losing because they always understand there is a winning day for them. Gambling is getting more popular and it is as old as humanity so you always have more numbers of newbies than the numbers of quitters and quitters later rejoins.
2932  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will Gambling Legalization Reduce Gambling Rings? on: March 11, 2023, 01:03:37 PM

Do you think that there is a role that gambling legalization will play in reducing the activities of gambling rings?

You could have made a distinction in your enquiry regarding those countries that have legalized gambling system and those that have not legalized it and not to ask a general question like every country is in an unlegalized gambling environment.

However to your question, IMO I don't think legalizing gambling will stop gambling rings or those who try to benefit illegally by deceiving bettors on their reputation. We have had questionable gambling casinos even in this forum existing side by side with legalized casinos.

Scammers will always find ways to beat the legal system. To create a strong law against scammers to punish and prosecute them when proven on their attrocity will help but yet won't stop gambling rings.
2933  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is money ruling the world? on: March 10, 2023, 06:01:31 PM
Money is important in the earth we live. It is that important because it is manipulative, it can be used to change people's opinion , however some few people may not allow the influence of money on them.

Currently my country government has turn humans to museum, moving without no direction, helpless and monuments because for over 3 months now the government has seized to release money in circulation, banks refused to fix money in ATM's, no canter payment.

I think you are making reference to the Nigerian situation when you said 3 months. Well the Nigerian situation is political which started just as the 2023 federal elections started getting attention at the last quarter of 2022 but where it will eventually lead us to we don't know yet. The elections saw a high level of rigging by the ruling party (APC) against the people's choice candidate from (LP). The manipulations of the new designed currency on the election is yet to be unravelled and unfortunately, money can influence people against their personal and collective happiness.
2934  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do you think about stop gambling services issued by gambling platforms? on: March 10, 2023, 04:56:08 PM

In this case is it possible for gambling platforms to provide stop gambling services to help gamblers reduce their desire to gamble, as in the context of cigarettes, every tobacco company always provides smoking cessation services either by telephone, clients who want to quit smoking can be given counseling and guidance, as well as referrals if you need follow up.

This is a different situation IMO. Cigarette disclaimer is concerning health directly but gambling isn't even though a gambler can get depressed and cause another thing to happen to them but that is extraneous event not directly causing harm to health and I think that is why the tobacco companies are regulated by law to always informed smokers the danger of their products to their health.

Having said the above, gambling is strictly for the purpose of business to both giver and receiver, in this extent the bettor and the owner of the casino respectively. So the owner is out to make profit likewise the bettor playing to outsmart the owner of the business for his own profit. Therefore I think making such kind of publicity on addiction may mean the owner shooting himself on the foot.

Moreover, if that was to be done, it would have been easier to limit the number of times an account is allowed to bet in a particular casino at least to help bettors not to be an addict  Grin Addiction is a personal responsibility and an addict should get help through people around.
2935  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: BREAKING NEWS: Old naira note remain valid till Dec 31 2023 by supreme court. on: March 10, 2023, 03:57:25 PM
This our country don dey become crush oo. The government and CBN never really let us know where we dey go with the naira especially 500 and 1k wey government been announced say don seize to be legal tender. Since 3rd of March wey supreme court don finally rule on the application of the states wey drag government enter court, say the 5h and 1k go still be legal tender until 31st December of this year, the status of those notes still dey cause problem among naija people because some dey refuse to collect them while others dey collect and with condition say you go either buy costly on their own price before them go collect the old 5h or 1k and some self go refuse to give you change. I understand say those states wey carry the matter go court dey use the old and new notes together without ish but some states no be like that and for such state say bank dey dispense old notes but dem no dey gree collect am. Na this confusion make me say either government or CBN need to update Nigerians on the status of the old 5h and 1k.

2937  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you Bet on a Fight that is Scripted? on: March 09, 2023, 10:47:31 PM

The bet would be same

I  don't that betting on a scripted script would be the same feeling to betting on a real outcome based on real performance. I think it would be difficult to have a real wrestling match on a bet and the only way to get to that assumption is the scripted form so it won't have same appeal.

but I doubt it would have good odds and outcome.

On the contrary, I think it will have good odds to spice people up in betting on what is not real, that high odds will cause more fans is not to be argued because gamblers seem to glue to high odds game.
2938  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you Bet on a Fight that is Scripted? on: March 09, 2023, 08:15:45 PM
And then what? Who will be the first wrestler to fake an injury?

I think this won't even be a big problem for the programmers to wrap their heads over because such injuries won't be severe or gory and life threatening. Such things as injuries do occur in nolly wood and other film making countries and the actors and actresses still come out of such injuries to carry on with the shooting. If WWE is to be scripted, it is just being made public because large number of people believe what happens there doesn't go beyond entertainment.
2939  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you Bet on a Fight that is Scripted? on: March 09, 2023, 06:04:55 PM
Wrestling fights for what I hear people discuss on it and opinions about it is that greater part of is fake and I also think so myself that it is for entertainment. Therefore if that is introduced into gambling and it finds it way, people will bet on it  So whether the allusion of being scripted or not, people will bet on it. After all wrestling will not be the only scripted option for gambling betting. For example there is visual soccer which is also scripted and many gamblers like and see it as favourable betting option. I think the point is people choose to bet on what they get lucky and favoured on into profit, nobody would like losing his bet.
2940  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling advertisements: A big trigger to gambling addiction. on: March 08, 2023, 05:02:44 PM
Something caught my attention lately and I haven't been able to shake it out of my mind. It is this topic, but I don't know if it has been discussed here.

Let it not bother you and you definitely have to shake it out from yourself because it is actually nothing to bug about. If you were around during the ico and IEO then you will understand when something is the talk of the town as they say. Just maybe gambling and gamble is the talk of this time.

Question to answer is how many signature campaigns are running through gambling companies and how many others are existing that are not through gambling companies.

It concerns gambling advertising and its impact on gambling addiction.

As far as we can discuss this, I don't think we can do anything about this and like I was making a point above, the gambling business is fast growing and such companies scout for customers everywhere, moreover social media is the first soft spot because it is the abode of the young people who are mostly first line customers. One of the factors that have made social media grow very rapidly is the smart phone technology and so gambling companies like I said reach out to customers via smart phones to market themselves easily through their ads.

Regarding addiction to gambling, I think it is a decision to click and follow the directions of any ads. You have the instructions to follow and provide certain information or data like names, email address etc, so you can actually stop or resist it at a point if you don't want to.
