I use 12.75 for block reward and 650 for coin price

Do you use 12.75 instead of 12.5 because you're counting on fees?

yes  we seem to do that on kano on average
29222  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Can I offer the use of my electricity? on: July 22, 2016, 08:02:39 PM
Really new to the whole concept of Bitcoin Mining, but we have very cheap electricity where I am (Approx 4cents/kwh).
Can people take advantage of this if we setup a Mining Pool or something like that? Huh

A lot depends on how much power you can provide.
Also how good is your internet connection?

Also  where are you?

USA a state is enough info.

Not USA what is your country?

4 cent power is good.

So pretend you have 3x 30 amp circuits of 240 volts.

that is 90 amps .

an s-9 is a modern miner it uses about 5.5 amps at 240 volts.

so 4 miners is 22 amps a 30 amp circuit  that is  good since 24 amps is max to be used on a 30 amp circuit.

you could do 12 miners safely     15 miners  not so safe.

so the 1 miner cost for a month at 4 cent is  40 usd for you you want some profit  so 60 usd would mean you make 20 bucks a month  on each one.

that rate of 60 for an s-9  is very competitive with other hosters.

Not sure you want to charge that low so 65  is 25 a month for each miner in your pocket.  I do not count anything but power.

no net costs no other costs.

Plus people do not know who you are and will not want to send gear to you.

Lastly these miners are really loud and really hot. So dealing with heat and noise will matter if you run 15 or more.
29223  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: July 22, 2016, 07:30:46 PM
Is it ever worth buying overpriced ones from eBay? The price direct from Bitmain is already overpriced; adding more on top of that is shooting yourself in the foot.

Sometimes, but certainly not now.

Some ebayers get very  good coupons I just got one for 8% it expired  yesterday.

this is 2200 - 8% coupon =  2024   and I can get 1% off via ebates so -22 = 2002   and  I can get 6 months to pay it  at 0 %

so 2002 net cost and 6 months to pay with ebay protection and this was close to worth it yesterday.

Coupon is gone so it is not worth it.  But yesterday it was close to worth it for me.

29224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Eth Coin Poll on: July 22, 2016, 07:19:46 PM
So Eth coin is on a solid rally.  Market cap is  big  so big it  is huge.

Still BTC has a 79.38%  share and ETH coin has about  9.06%

So to put a true Hurt on BTC

I would say ETH coin needs to get to 20-25%

Opinions guess and thoughts are welcome.

Lovers of ETH are welcome as are haters.
Lovers of BTC are welcome as are haters.

Fusionists (Loving both coins) are welcome
Lastly Divisionists (Hating both coins are welcome)

I self mod only to delete upon very rare occasions

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Market Cap>>>>>Coin Price>>Actual coins

1   Bitcoin ------------$10,369,093,820---$ 657.42---15,772,332
2   Ethereum -------- $ 1,184,673,989---$   14.40---   82,240,471

Entire market cap = $13062570120

29225  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 2000W Power Breakout Board (DPS2000BB to PC-Ie x12) on: July 22, 2016, 06:48:16 PM
Can't wait to see it with cleaner cabling.

Yeah  he needs these cables. Roll Eyes

They are 3 foot long look like 16 gauge and have a nice wrap.

All kidding aside  a very nice build

29226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Mixing your gpus. MY thread on r9 390's with rx 480's any mismatch is welcome. on: July 22, 2016, 04:48:00 PM
Okay  you got a r9 390  and low and behold you scored a hard to get rx 480.

You want to run the cards on your rig.  I am getting really good results.

With amd 16.7.2 and with Claymore dual miner only eth coins.

BTW eth is over 13 usd a coin up up and awayyyy!!!

Give me time to set this up.

I self mod but I almost never delete.

so here is my mixed rig.

1 r9 390 with 1 rx 480

a gigabyte b75m mother board
2  4gb sticks of ram
a silverstone 700 watt titanium psu
a corsair case? Don't remember
case fans are silverstone 141's
cpu  is intel i5 2500t
got to check this as I can not remember since i have a few pc's

this shows I am running around 56-58 mh with the two cards

power is from my 240 volt pdu reads 2.1 amps  so 504 watts.

I have overclock the r9 390 hard.

the rig is in the closer case

overclocked  r9 390   and   stock clock rx 480  (power limits at -28%)

So use amd 16.7.2  go to amd settings and click gaming

next click Global Settings

this brings up the r9 390 and the rx 480

29227  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can I mix different graphic cards ? on: July 22, 2016, 04:14:54 PM
My rx 480 and my r9 390  run great together..

but  and a big but ,

claymore dual miner

amd 16.7.2

wattman + powertuner?

 to tweak

wattman tweaks the Rx 480

powertuner tweaks the  r9 390

I will photo all info>

Why the blocks are taking so long? (In the network I mean)

There are a lot,of s-5s and older gear being turned off.

Before the 1/2 ing an s-5 at 6 cents power made money.

Now after 1/2 ing all gear older then the s-7 or Avalon 6.

Is losing money.

So we have downward pressure on hash rate.

There is close to 300-400 ph in old gear even if s-9 are coming on line a lot of old gear is shut down.

Thus slower hash rate

so with 3 cents power s5's are still viable?

well here you go 1 s-5 at 3 cent power mining at kano pool.
I assume 0 cost in that you paid it off already.
I use 12.75 for block reward and 650 for coin price
1% for pool fees
2% for diff growth

So it would be good for a while still.

29229  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Should i get APW3-12-1600 or other PSUs? on: July 22, 2016, 02:29:37 PM
It's advertising a server PSU and breakout board which is, overall, better than Bitmain's PSU. The conversion efficiency is a few percent lower but the total power, reliability, flexibility and price beat it.

If you're in the US and wanting to buy S7 from Bitmain, I can probably hook you up with undervolted units that run 85% hashrate at under 70% power versus stock units, with a power supply, for about the same price you can get just a new S7 shipped from Bitmain. This makes 'em more efficient than an S7-LN and can also be run on 120V.

I've read the post again.. Is the PSUs mentions DPS2000BB ?

Also, why would we need the breakout board in addition to the PSU?

I'm actually located in Southeast Asia, Thank you for the offer though  Wink

Based on your location and parts availability you are best off with bitmaintech.

If you were USA based I would say go with the dps-2000 and set up that way.

But  your location means the bitmaintech psu is easier.

Sidehack's  modded s-7's and his power supply is also really good, but once again cross shipping  China to usa to asia is an issue.

Why do want s-7's do you have cheap power?
29230  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: S9 11.85TH/s for sale today in China on: July 22, 2016, 01:07:11 PM
After halving day, is mining with this machine is still profit?
I have 5 units S7, and my earning drop up to 75%, and a week ago I shut off 3 units

the s9 may work for you if you power cost is 5 to 8 cents  per kwatt  USD based money.

If you are over 8 cents USD per kwatt maybe not.
If you are at 12 cents USD per kwatt   most likely  a loser.

See chart:

S-9 a money maker or not.

under 5 cents     strong yes
5 to 8 cents       maybe yes.
8 to 12 cents     maybe no.
over 12 cents    strong no.

Just an estimate nothing certain about my estimate.
29231  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Should i get APW3-12-1600 or other PSUs? on: July 22, 2016, 11:16:19 AM
We are new to mining, but have been monitoring since Dec'15. We're prepared to purchase S7-LN as it came with power supply so it seems like a good purchase. However, S7-LN recently went out of stock.

We're looking to purchase S7s now and considering PSUs for our S7s. Should i get PSU from bitmain, or should i go with other PSUs like EVGA Supernova 1600?

first question do you have  220/240 volt power?

you should not get bitmaintech  or evga 1600 if you have 220/240 volt power

read this thread  far better to use this system to power s-7's and or s-9's

New gear is welcome.   I would pick up a piece or two.  I would also run a group buy like I did with the  Avalon6
29233  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Help me... minergate software says no GPU available on: July 22, 2016, 03:29:37 AM
I just bought a desktop system with Radeon HD 5450 GPU Card

after installation of minergate software, it says no GPU available. so only CPU mining available.
i want to mine eth. or other cryptonotes with GPU Card.
i don't if the new Radeon HD 5450 i bought is not GPU or cannot mine with minergate or minergate disable GPU mining?

Help me figure it out.

What did you pay for this system?

What is the CPU?

What windows do you use?

I will not tell you get a good gpu  and mine eth coin with Claymore miner.

Since I have not a clue how old and out of date the rest of the pc is.

Right now just list the cpu
The ram
The windows
 the power supply
The motherboard.

We know the gpu is too weak to do this work.
We do not know any other info.
29234  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Hi chip temps on s9? on: July 22, 2016, 03:21:18 AM
I am pushing 99 ? Is this normal? Worried. Its fairly well vented but could be better

I'd say its normal.

Here's a screen from my S9:

During day time it pushes 107C.

PS: I do have a dust-filter in the front, that restricts the airflow some.

Edit:
You can see that the hottest board is the one producing the most HW errors..

I would change freq to 593 .

What is your fan setting? 85% manual?

Another 999 S9's will soon join the network. I am so disappointed that they will be sold for cheaper, with a bonus AWS-1600 psu, and a 300 yuan coupon for future purchase. Anyone know if international buyers may receive similar benefit in the near future?

Links please

https://www.bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020160720030451168OpKu9Hc60687
Sales start at July 21 14:00 Beijing Time, which is in 2.5 hours from now. Shipping on their Friday this week.
Did anyone outside China actually try to order one? If I had seen this sooner, I would have tried.

it sold out so fast .... lame

They are selling the gear far too cheap . I simply do not understand them  they are giving the gear away.

999 units sold in under 12 hours .

Phil... In many different contexts you referred to them as cheap. Just for clarification, I assume you are referring to cheap in terms of potential market demand but not ROI, correct?

Roi is next to impossible if they sell tons of s-9s fast.
There is zero need for an ASIC war as they are the only ones with guns so to speak.
They are the only company with .1 watt miner.
So they can sell slower .

Selling 1000 units in 12 hours for 2.7 btc means they underpriced it in terms of demand.
1000 units in 36 hours at 3 btc is better for them. I'm convinced they will do what they think is best. For bitmaintech my plans as to what is best for bitmaintech mean nothing.

I see a lot of moves they can make.  They purchased block trail. A few other things were done.

But 1000 s-9s are 13ph less then 1 % .

Still they set a lower price floor on the s-9  for no reason that I can see.

Here is the main address they use

https://blockchain.info/address/1KwA4fS4uVuCNjCtMivE7m5ATbv93UZg8V

but  one interesting thing no large coins went here in the last 25 -30 hours

looks like if there really were 1000 units sold they were sold via bank transfers.

I wonder if it was posted up  for 10-12 hours then listed sold out.  When in fact nothing happened at all>

While I can't decipher the Chineese web page, my simple view of it is that it is priced in CNY. In other words, the price is a fixed fiat price, and the BTC amount can "float". My recollection is that the English pages that used to be up for the S9 had a fixed BTC price. Unfortunately I can't confirm my memory since the English pages appear to be gone.

some were fiat
some were btc

As a Mets fan I should say no ,but your Yankees are not winning much so here goes.

........

hehe.  finally got a series win on ya from the cubs:)  tough team on us last few series.  got a quick question.  s7 what is good freq to go with .. its nasty today and next couple days here.. heat index of 110f.  humidity if off the charts.  im already pushing 70 c only on the center board and outer boards are a couple c less.  running at 700mhz but from my tests at home it seems 600 would quit hashing after a while.  Also same with 625.  what is min i should go with and not have issues?  Thanks

on the diff.. looks like we seeing a drop.. hope thats not a precursor to the price;/. i was hoping to see a nice upswing but seems to be struggling.. eth is just blowing my mind how well its holding and rising.. coinbase just added it to the coinbase.com side.https://blog.coinbase.com/2016/07/21/coinbase-adds-support-for-ethereum/. Makes it easier on me.. although ive had a very pleasant experience with kraken.  Nice to be verified at both anyway.

edit> on the drop i see it aswell on the zeroblock app for iphone.. they used to have a website but its no longer.. only for android iphone now.> good feed for news too

yesterday it was showing about 12 min avg block times.. today its showing 10 min.. i do believe its based of last 24 hours but im not 100% on that

Best Regards

  IF YOU have batch 9 or newer 650.0, 656.25 , 662.50, 668.75, 675.0

As for diff calcs yeah I have found a few inconsistencies here and there before the ½ ing  but nothing major.

@ Mikestang  you have a good question as  when I do real world real time numbers they are always close but don't quite match the sites.

And I know I am consistent and my real time method is accurate.

pretty simple  144 blocks per day is  0%  so take the time expired from the diff to the current time.

  Example  say 3 days  so 3 x 144 = 432

so 420 made
    432 = 0%

420/432-1 = 0.972222 -1  = -0.0277777   x 100 to convert to percent = -2.77777 %
so if last diff was

 Jul 18 2016   213,492,501,108   0.04%   1,528,238,850 GH/s

just x the numbers above to get an answer .

so current diff would drop to 207,562,153,854
current hash would drop to  1,485,787,431

but those real time numbers I just gave are true from the start to the 3rd day

I know bitcoinwisdom shows 3 hashrates  :

504 blocks gray line which was wrong
1008 blocks blue line which looked okay
2016 blocks red line which is accurate

since the blue and gray change a lot  they are at multiple points in time and the chart does not show those times.
