Brooklyn is now disbanding as well with Kryie and KD might be leaving soon.
There's no reason for the management to keep them as they are already demanding a trade.
However, it's still the management's decision if they will let go of them or just wait until they can find a great trade opportunity.
I have read an article online, and you might want to read it if you have time. Here is the link: LINK
On that article, there is one tweet saying:
Quote
“Everyone pretty much knows KD probably isn’t winning any titles, not without Steph, which is why no one wants to mortgage the farm for him.”
I think this is the reason why Durant isn't being traded until now. Many teams believe that Durant can't carry a team, and I believe too that he can't. He tried in OKC, and he failed, he also tried in Brooklyn, and he failed. He only won a championship when he went with the Warriors with Steph.

With this, there might be a chance that both Kyrie and KD might stay with the Nets because there are no traction or news regarding them being traded.

Harden will be 33 this August and after 2 years, he might be leaving his prime and his body will start to deteriorate and will be slower. If Harden is that desperate to win a title, he must do it in the upcoming season or next season or his chances to win will decrease. Harden's performance in the Sixers last season isn't the same as he is in Houston or even in Brooklyn. I hope that him and Embiid will be a good duo now that they have more time playing together and I hope both of them will not get any injuries because both of them are injury-prone.

The addition of Tucker is good actually because he is a good defensive player and a decent three-point shooter.

Harden has already been out of his prime for at least two seasons. In addition, his performance in the past playoffs was one of the worst in his career. By the way, it seemed to me Embiid was also disappointed in Harden, given that Joel said that Harden is no longer the same as he was in the Rockets. Anyway, it will still be interesting to see if Harden is able to improve his performance and win the first title next season or not.
If only Westbrook played a very good season last season, Harden might be the center of criticisms right now and not him.

I agree that Harden wasn't the same as he is in the Rockets in his last 2 teams maybe because he isn't the first option offensively in both of them. In Nets, the first option in scoring is Durant and in Sixers, it's Embiid and that might affect his whole performance.

I don't know but I still believe that Harden can still put up the numbers he is getting when he is in Houston or might be a bit lesser but nevertheless, I also believe that the time they spent last season and this off-season is enough to make some adjustments and will make some improvements.

2945  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: This clearly damage the gambling. on: July 19, 2022, 06:39:08 AM
Watched the video and 4 days after uploading, it only has 12k views so I assume that this is an unpopular match and it is a lower league tournament.

I believe that game fixing in lower league tournaments still happens and I already saw some game fixing matches here in our country (many times already Cheesy). If the management of the game is corrupt, obviously they will not impose any sanctions to these players because they already fixed it at first and it's obvious that he did it intentionally. Well, if there is a sanction between players in this tournament or none is the thing that we don't know but betting in lower league tournaments like this is extremely risky because of game fixing.

As for this damaging the gambling, I don't think so and maybe after this, gambling sportsbooks will make an adjustments and just limits the number of games to bet in their websites. It's very sad to see this happening though. They are professional players and yet, they are doing things like this for the sake of money.
2946  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Advice from a stranger on: July 19, 2022, 06:18:45 AM
Is it true that new altcoins are the best to invest in right now? Someone said you can easily make better profits from new projects than investing in old altcoins that have already x their values already, what do you think? Good or bad idea.
Yes and NO.

Yes to part where you can make better profits from new projects than investing in old altcoins because you are the pioneer of the project and if it becomes successful, you will be the one who will get the most profit because you bought their token at the start of the development of the project.

No to the part where new altcoins are best to invest right now. New altcoins are very prone to scam and only a few projects are becoming successful. Many projects only live for months but because of some factors like lack of community, lack of investors investing in their project and the developers themselves, often times it ends up as a scam or a rug pull.

Is it a good or bad idea? Well, in my perspective as a conservative investor it is a bad idea investing into new projects because it's very risky for me and I only have limited budget to use for investing. I'd rather spend my money into old altcoins that has values. Yes the profit might be lower but it's safer than investing into new projects. If you have some spare money then you might try to invest into new projects but I'm not advising it especially if you are a type of investor where you are easily affected by losses.
2947  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 19, 2022, 02:56:58 AM
There is an interesting article on nba.com about James Harden. I was quite surprised that he is on the verge of making a new deal with his team that instead of getting 46 million dollars next season, he is helping the team and making a deal for two years that will get him 32 million dollars next season, and it includes a player option for the second season. He is really trying to show everyone that his mentality is different and he is focused on a better team and winning. I genuinely tried to remember any player who did this but I can't remember a big player doing such a thing. Good for Harden. There was a huge hype about him in the last season and he played not bad, at least better than how he did in Nets. I like his new attitude.

I like James Harden to stay with the Sixers. He is quite going along well with the team, especially with Joel Embiid. Their duo is even much more effective than the famous Embiid-Simmons duo which turned out to be the worst after several seasons.

Since you have mentioned also that he has the player option for the second year, then it's possible that if the Sixers turned out to be bad next season, James Harden will leave the team and find another one that will suit his needs.

Harden went to Philadelphia because of his personal ties with people in the city.  He wants to spend his time there.  That's why he took less money to be on the team.  He wants to bring a championship to Philly and be the man on the party scene there.  For that reason, I don't see him leaving for basketball related reasons.  I think his deal was a good one for everyone and I hope that it turns out better than his time in Brooklyn with the Nets experiment.

This could be his last chance to win a ring, wth the Sixers. Still build around Joel, but Harden could be the missing pieces that they needed. They just feel short last playoff, but you can't blame Harden totally. Now that we will be healthy (hopefully, no hamstring injuries), then we will see how he really wanted to win and push himself and be the number 2 guy in this team.

2948  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Largest exchange in Philippines to list SHIB !!! on: July 19, 2022, 02:29:30 AM
Coins.ph isn't an exchange but an e-wallet where users can buy, sell and pay bills using their platform. Coins Pro is the name of their exchange.

Now with regards to Coins.ph listing SHIB, it doesn't surprise me at all. Weeks ago, they listed LOOKS that only has around $200M market cap so they are just expanding through listing different altcoins. Will this listing help SHIB? I don't think so because most of us are just using Coins.ph to convert Bitcoin to fiat currency. I don't know how many is using Coins Pro but I believe there are only few that are using it.

They are planning to list SHIB but they don't have plans to list DOGE. This listing for sure doesn't have any impact on the price of SHIB at all.

In Kyrie/Lakers news...  It seems the Nets are still unimpressed by the trade packages that the Lakers are offering them for Kyrie.  I'm not sure if I want Kyrie to go to the Lakers or not, but it would be one hell of a move for them to get Kyrie and lose Russell's contract with one move.
Still to early I guess and with what is happening right now between two teams, I believe that they will meet halfway and there will be a trade that will happen. LeGM and Kyrie the Lazy wants a reunion and the Lakers doesn't want Ninja Turtle (Westbrook) in a Laker uniform anymore because of how he played last season so I believe in the next few weeks, a blockbuster trade will happen between the 2 teams and same with KD as well. Many are waiting where Kyrie and KD will land this time including me. Smiley

I see an unmotivated Russ so yes it's bad for the team but it's also bad for him. He really wants to be out that's why he fired his agent who suggested he stays. Westbrook is not some no name and newbie anymore. I think he is already at a point where he cares more where he can play happily than the money he gets.

Russell Westbrook just needs some push. I don't see him as a hindrance to the Lakers' success. Maybe give him several games to work again on his consistency. Westbrook is still one of the most athletic guards in the NBA today. He also understands that he needs to cooperate with LBJ or AD and last season, he didn't show the behavior that he is the main scorer on the team. He just does his usual Westbrook stuff although the problem is, he is not consistent.
Westbrook is 33 years old already and near to past his prime. He is athletic I agree with that and yes he is one of the most athletic and most explosive guards in the NBA. The problem is that, he doesn't fit with the system.

Remember when Westbrook is with Harden in the Rockets, many expected that they will be an explosive duo at that season but what happened? It's a disaster and they aren't a good duo together. Same situation here but this time it's 3 of them. I don't know but LBJ and Russ kinda have the same way of playing. Scoring and passing and maybe that is also a reason why we don't see any chemistry with the team. No one wants to make adjustment for the betterment of the team and look how they played this whole season. I don't think some push is necessary right now because I think the Lakers are doing everything just to trade him. On the other hand, Westbrook also wants to be out in the Lakers as well and play with another team.
2950  Economy / Economics / Re: What are your honest thoughts on Crypto in the future, given what is happening n on: July 18, 2022, 06:19:34 AM
I'm gradually losing faith in its long-term viability.

What are your thoughts on this?
I'm not pretty sure but base on what you shared to us, it's pretty obvious that you are just a newbie and it's your first time seeing what is happening right now.

I will share my own experience. It started in 2018 where the bear market started. I've seen Bitcoin went to as high as ~$20k but it didn't matter to me because at that time, I'm still learning the basics (even now). Here comes 2018 and I've seen red candles in the charts. I've seen Bitcoin went to as high as $20k to as low as $10k months after. I've seen it went down from $10k down to $5k and as low as $3k and I've felt the same as well.

I lost faith with the crypto in general and I thought that Bitcoin is dead already because I've seen so many negative articles regarding crypto and Bitcoin. To cut the story short, I didn't lost faith and still learned crypto and Bitcoin and it's the best decision that I've made.

What I'm trying to say is, it's your first time to see what is happening right now that's why you are saying things like that. Give it some time, you might want to see the charts if you want and see what happened in the past. Just be patient, accumulate if you have spare money and just wait for the bull market to happen again. Markets are moving in sideways and in the long term, Bitcoin and some cryptos will give you profit. Just look on S&P500 and DJI in the long term. They only move upwards but it's a bumpy road. It's the same with crypto. It will be a bumpy road but it has only one direction and it's upwards. Relax, don't panic and stay invested Smiley.
2951  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Countries have banned Bitcoin; Do you believe is because of criminal activities on: July 18, 2022, 06:11:38 AM
Government = control. They want control of their country and that includes the currency that they are using.
Obviously, governments can't control Bitcoin thus, they are banning it because they don't have any choice. Governments can't regulate it as well for some reasons.

Criminal activities? Maybe but even Fiat currency is being used in criminal activities as well so what's the difference. Another reason is they can't get some tax from it and it will give the country a lesser revenue.
2952  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Ryan Garcia vs Javier Fortuna - July 16 on: July 18, 2022, 03:37:23 AM
I say just average performance by Ryan, sure the power is there, but I think Davis has more power than Ryan. He doesn't have that head movement, he just keeps coming straight. And if he fight like that against Davis, who is very cerebral in the ring, for sure he will get knock out by that. It's a win though so no question about it, but it's just a so so performance and everyone expected that he should knock out Fortuna which he did.
Just by watching Garcia's fight against Fortuna, I don't see that he can beat Davis. Maybe that's also the reason why he added some weights because he knows that he can't beat Davis. Davis is a very good and strong counter puncher and just by looking on how he defeated Romero in his last fight, I don't think Garcia can but anything can happen. One punch can change everything. Many are waiting for Garcia-Davis fight and if they will fight this year then it would be a fight of the year candidate Cheesy.

2954  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 16, 2022, 12:57:01 PM
^^ Really hard to digest what really happen to the Lakers last season and how it become toxic. Although it was really evident that in the beginning, something is not right as even in the pre-season with all eyes on them and high expectations there were already signs that it might not work and that what happen. And then Lebron injured himself and so is AD, Russ games didn't flourish, the supporting cast is not performing as expected etc etc. There is no single point of failure, just a culmination of bad timing and maybe bad decisions.
They don't have good supporting cast because they traded the ones that were really a big piece of the success of the Lakers. Now, they realize that they don't really need another superstar, in fact, Lebron and AD is enough because both have already won a championship together with the Lakers.
The Washington-Lakers trade really is a bad trade if you will ask me, or it really is a bad trade just because of what happened with the Lakers.

The Lakers traded some of their young and best bench players like Kuzma, KCP and Caruso which is one of the best in defense just to get Westbrook. Turns out that it became worse for them. The players who helped the team get a title got traded to different teams just to get a player where they expect that will help the team get another title again, but it didn't happen.

The good thing now is the Lakers are doing some good things, and they started it to get a new coach in Coach Darwin Ham. One thing more is that they got star-studded players like Pippen and O'neal (you know what I mean with this one Tongue). Well, I just hope that the Lakers will make better decisions this off-season and will be better this upcoming season and will not repeat what happened to them last season.
2955  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 16, 2022, 08:49:14 AM
Also just to add, I saw a post on Facebook regarding a proposed trade between the Pelicans and the Nets.
The Nets asked for Ingram, Nance Jr and multiple first round picks for KD. The Pelicans declined on it. Does this show that KD's value in the market really is that low? Any thoughts.

I do not think that this scenario speaks of Durant's value but rather than the capability of the Pelicans to acquire Durant. Pelican is just a small market team, and we all know that they already signed Zion to a maximum rookie extension. And I do not think that giving up their young assets is a good move for them.

Plus, do you think Durant would want to play in a small market team?
Obviously no and I don't think that their superstars will compliment with each other. Zion, Ingram, McCollum and KD? I don't think that they are fit with each other as well and yes I don't also think that Durant will play in a small market team like New Orleans.

Russell Westbrook just fired his longtime agent who wanted him to stay in LA and finish his contract. This is leading to speculation that Westbrook might be open to a buyout and a new contract, which would obviously mean his agent taking less money. I’m sure Westbrook feels like his situation in LA is toxic and he’s willing to do whatever to get away, including giving up money. I guess him and his agent couldn’t agree on that strategy. His agent released a good statement about it. Worth reading…
It has always been toxic since he went to LA.
I don't know the exact reason why it became toxic, but I think that the Laker fans have huge expectation with the team with the addition of Westbrook, and they felt that the team didn't meet that expectation, and they started to criticize the whole team and that is also the reason why Westbrook is feeling that he is toxic when he went to LA.

Looks like we will see another saga again. We are watching the KD Saga and where he will be landing. At the same time Kyrie is silent but many are still waiting on where he will land as well. Now let's add Westbrook in the list and let's wait where he will be landing. Will Westbrook be traded knowing how much the team will be paying for him this upcoming season, or he will stay with the Lakers.
2956  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do Anyone Think Luna Will Recover? on: July 15, 2022, 06:30:29 AM
LUNA, LUNC or USTC are just a pump and dump coins now for me and they have no chance of recovery at all.
What does recovery mean to you OP? Do you mean LUNA will reach it's ATH at around $110? Just look at the current supply of it and you will see that it's impossible to happen at all.

Trust is a big factor to every crypto project and the trust of the community towards the project is already broken. Though there are still some who are solid Lunatics (that's what they call to their community), still I don't see any recovery for the project at all. I'd rather invest my money into meme coins like DOGE than investing a project like LUNA or LUNC or anything related to Do Kwon. I'm still waiting for LUNA to crash again or at least become a dead project or an abandoned project. It happen already and I believe it will happen again soon.
2957  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Luna Classic - Thoughts? on: July 15, 2022, 05:49:40 AM
I have invested £150 into Luna Classic since their crash which is a gamble I know but is a gamble I am happy taking.
Well, you said that you gambled on it and you are still ok and happy if you lost on your gamble so I have nothing to say but LUNC is a shitcoin for me Cheesy.

Do we think it is over or is there a possibility of recovery?
We have our own opinion when it comes to a recovery of a certain coin but in the case of LUNC, I don't see any recovery of it or if there is, it might recover if we are in a bull market but aside from that I don't think a recovery will happen and knowing what happened to the project in the past, investors are reluctant to invest into the project because it might happen again.

Some people are saying £1 is possible but I have 3 million so even reaching a penny would be great for me.
There is this imagination of an investor where if it reaches a certain price and they are holding a huge amount then it will be a huge profit for them. At it's current price and it's current supply, do you think that it will really reach a penny? Well, anything can happen with crypto and this might happen but the chances of it are low to near to zero and I'm not expecting it to happen as well.

So what about you ? How would you make Bitcointalk better if you were the Boss ?
-Security would be the top priority so maybe 2FA or some OTP that will be sent in the email would be the first one. I've experienced my account getting hacked already without any notifications whatsoever and luckily I got my account back after a week or more. This will prevent hackers hacking accounts here especially those high ranked ones.
-Maybe a mobile app would be nice as well. Though we can still access the forum through our phones, having a mobile version of it would be better Smiley.
-A local forum for each nationality would be nice as well.
-Maybe a section where users can be updated with what is happening with the crypto world. On that section, we can put some sub sections like for Bitcoin and some altcoins where we might put articles or videos out there like documentaries. It might help newbies as well since they can watch documentaries at read articles there.
-Users with negative trust will not be able to wear signatures. Well, there are some exceptions to it like for example, the user who put negative trust to you permanently left the forum forever. I think this might be hard but I think it's doable.

Shots fired:

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/34242899/phoenix-suns-deandre-ayton-signing-4-year-131m-maximum-contract-offer-sheet-indiana-pacers-agents-say

Pacers sign him to a max sheet.  Now Suns hands are tied.  Let him him go for nothing or sign him to max and not be able to use him in a Durant deal.  2 days tick tock Phoenix.  Should be interesting to see what happens here.

Ya, this is bad news for Phoenix. I think it basically gives them 2 days to get Durant or else they have nothing to offer. Ayton was one of the main factors in the run to the Finals for them and they might end up losing him for nothing. This is going to set them back quite a bit. They are terrible at managing their picks. Just a reminder that they could have had DeAaron Fox & Luka Doncic and instead those two picks wound them up with nothing (or maybe Durant, we’ll see.)
It turns out that the Suns matched the Pacer's historic $133M offer sheet for Ayton. Now the Suns will keep Ayton and will prohibit him from trading without the player's consent for a full year.

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/34245243/phoenix-suns-match-indiana-pacers-4-year-133-million-offer-sheet-deandre-ayton

The Suns lost McGee which is a huge addition to them defensively and losing Ayton means they might be at the bottom spot next season defensively. I'm not hearing any news regarding Biyombo if they will resign him. I also don't know what will be the future of Ayton with the Suns after what happened with him and Coach Monty against the Mavericks last season.

Also just to add, I saw a post on Facebook regarding a proposed trade between the Pelicans and the Nets.
