CBN ban accounts for trading cryptocurrency

The way things are moving in this regime, be like this government and their goons are determined to frustrate everyone to untimely death. This is the most confusing and disorganised democracy ruling I have seen.

According to Director of Banking Supervision, J. Y. Mammanand instructed the commercial banks to close down accounts trading cryptocurrency.

Quote
You are hereby directed to close accounts of the underlisted bank customers and place the funds in the accounts in suspense accounts for engaging in cryptocurrency trading in contravention of CBN Circular BSD/DIR/PUB/014/001 dated February 5, 2021

The listed accounts belong to two individuals, Nnamdi Francis Okereke and Nwaorgu Kingsley Chibuzor, and a company called TVS Hallmark Service Limited.

I'm not sure if this is Nepotism, because this government is very good at it, blacklisting just 2 accounts is strange. I hope we are all safe, man cannot carry gun or steal, man want to survive in legit and government no get head to help youth. Sad<>

Confidently implemented but why this happened?

I have tried to access the website but it seems down, they deactivate their website but as quoted from new York Post.

Quote
The issue could be tied to an “anti-dump mechanism” that the creators of the coin describe in a white paper associated with the cryptocurrency.

I read that the smart contract used to create that token was setup so that only certain people were able to sell. I understand that only the creators were able to sell and those that bought after a certain time could buy but not sell.

There was no audit report for the project, but the team strategy was on track and being confidently implemented while investors were busy buying.

This is a warning for meme coins lovers and users who love to follow twitter hype and quick to get profits from hype projects, a popular project with one of the popular Netflix series Squid game has plummet 99.99% of investors after the investors saw a big profits to a price level of $2,861 but unfortunately couldn't sell because of lack of transparency of the project, it has taken  negative dive and crashed below 1 cent. its currently trading below $0.005 as seen some few hours ago.
Twitter has also restricted their account after the incident.

It is a disappointment that Tatcoin failed to be the proposed Africa's cryptocurrency. I was happy that such technology was coming from us the giants of Africa. I didn't know it wouldn't last

The truth is this, I hardly invest on Nigeria crypto project and no cap or hard feelings. Nigeria has a long way to go and a reputation to build and this is why they are still far above the oyibo guys.
I have met some start up with good Idea about crypto project and Defi but it's lacking finance and angel investors because of what we represent and the experience. There is this project I was following, they called it Credit. The project was physically marketed to many Nigerians and also sold in many p2p's. The volume is zero with a 15k market cap.
There is another one, they called it Markaccy, they did a private sales and listed on Hotbit and MEXC, they manipulate the whole coin to $2 and it was later dumped by team. they locked about 81% of some presale and till today, they have abandoned the project without any development.

It's not easy to manage crypro project sha but we still have a long way to go when it comes to digital currency. CBDC wey every country they manage, e reach Buhari turn, the thing no work. Grin

Na pure cruise seriously. When I be see the news for punch newspaper about the CBN's eNaira app been removed from play store after negative reviews, and poor rating. I begin laugh seriously. I trust my country Naija. We Nigerians don't take rubbish when the government or someone f up big time. We go drag you with whatever stood for

I will only download that App when they start referrals, like 1k per invite will not be bad.
2947  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria (Naija) on: October 28, 2021, 10:09:28 AM
^^

I checked and it looks like they restored back the App, it's still available but may be during that time it was actually removed.

Enaira na failure, see the number of downloads, the rating self dy discouraging. There is nothing to review about the App as many could not register on the App.
This country na pure cruise and this looting dy reach every ministry, God save us.

But based on rest of your post, you're implying that KYC does more harm than good things. KYC stop few scammer, but it compromise privacy of all users while more vigilant scammer could use stolen account/legal document to bypass KYC verification.
I have edited the previous sentence, it's supposed to be kyc should be discouraged.

Suggestion : You need to resize your images.
I have resize the images. Thanks.

I greet everyone!
Bad actors in cryptoland are a constant threat, you must maintain vigilance in all you do.
I want to share something with the community that happened in a peer-to-peer transaction when I attempted to convert my BUSD to fiat.

First, I'd like to quote one of the top members here, Charles-Tim, from one of his posts.

Kyc is extremely dangerous
, but not to the bad actors as they are the criminals making use of fake information for kyc purpose and they are using it for fraudulent activities.

KYC is actually good, it reduce the rate of criminality and fraudulent activities but that doesn't mean you and I are completely safe and the same time, KYC is bad and not good for exchanges, the person you trust today may turn out to be the must dangerous scammer you will ever meet.
A scammer can get your attention, win all your trust and everything just to get back at you and by the time they attack you, it will be once and when they do, they make sure they completely drain you of all your pocket. This is what some scammers has been doing in p2p communities especially Binance exchange.

I have been using Binance p2p quite for some time now and I am very familiar with their ways of informing everyone on how to trade safely, the pros and cons and how to detect and report scammers, despite the KYC and other information required by Binance, some guys always know their way out of tight security.

This month on the 2nd of October, I wanted exchanging few amount of BUSD on Binance p2p and the requirements on the exchange before accessing p2p was that you need to be KYC verified, Email and SMS verified before you can become a Marchant on the exchange, this is the only way to trade NGN fiat since fiat deposit and withdrawal has been hanging for months now due to government interference.

The first thing I needed to do was to select a Marchant that I wish to trade with and after searching, I was satisfied with this guy since his 30 days trade is almost a thousand plus (1573), that's quite a busy merchant(buyer/seller)

So, after checking his statistics, I was convinced with his terms and conditions, satisfied with the dollar rate and then I proceeded to exchange 55 BUSD at dollar rate of 535, I filled my account number and name and was waiting patiently for the buyer to send me the money as agreed on the rate.

Just 2 minutes of setting the trade, I received an sms that the user has sent me payment which of course is the norm thing traders do immediately they come online when they are notified about a trade, some do click sent so that the timer wouldn't beat them (Binance always set a time for each trade, if it's doesn't get done in 15 minutes, it automatically get cancelled) but this is where some bad actors make bad moves.

Immediately, I checked my Mobile App to confirm the payment he claimed he sent since I never received any sms alert, lo and behold, my account was broke, no alert seen or any fresh transaction. I chatted him immediately that I am yet to receive any cash.

His response was quite fast and he told me that he already sent the payment, that I should check again that he already made my payment since. This time, I was worried that it may be due to network issues, some inter bank transactions can waste your time.

I double-checked my Mobile App for payment confirmation, but nothing had arrived. I rushed to Binance to inform him that he needed to wait for me to receive alerts before releasing the busd to him, but I was taken aback by the fact that the guy had cancelled our trade for which he claimed to have sent me money.

I was in awe at that time, so I told him I'd report him to Binance, but he never responded, never provided me an explanation for why he terminated our trade, which he said he sent me money.

So many thoughts were going through my mind, why will a buyer cancel a trade that he claimed that he sent me money?
  • Could it be that the buyer never sent the money and wanted to play smart?
  • Why would a verified person would want to scam?
  • How many traders would have actually been of this kind trap if they sent the Busd without making confirmation.

I had many thoughts on mind but one that actually answer the question is that, KYC is never enough and can't stop any fraudulent act if they want to play smart, scammers are out there and they are developing new ways to get Maga (the innocents) that comes their way.

2953  Other / Beginners & Help / How to safely login to Crypto exchange on web without username and password on: October 23, 2021, 01:48:47 PM
Optimization and development always make things easier and more efficient, and crypto exchanges aren't left behind when it comes to improvement, especially when it comes to how to protect users and their income.
This is a basic guide on how to safely login to crypto exchanges without input of username and password using of integrated QRcode on the webpage. This feature is popular on few exchanges such as Kucoin and Binance but for demonstration, I will be making use of Binance.

You need to be login on the App exchange on your device to be able to use this feature.

Kindly go to your binance  web and access the login page and you will you see portal where you will be asked to login. By the right hand side, you should see an alternative login where a QRcode will be made available for scan.

Enter your Binance App that's already login on a device, click on the top right hand side of the app that has something that looks like two closed bracket. []

As soon as you scan the QR code, the web page will checked and will asked you to confirmed the login from your device.

On your device, a permission Authorization will be required. The IP address, Location, and Device should be authorized.

As soon as you click AUTHORIZED, your will be successfully login on the web with out any input of sensitive data such as email, username, mobile number and password.

Nigeria continues to be the most populated country with cryptocurrency in Africa

Cryptocurrency use and popularity are continuously growing across the African continent, with Nigeria continuing to dominate the local crypto exchanges that are commonly utilized today.
Despite the Nigerian government's crackdown on cryptocurrencies and the refusal of Nigerian agencies to work with blockchain entrepreneurs and startups.

Nigeria now has the most users, with over 13 million, followed by South Africa, which has just about 4 million, and others with a small user base.

2955  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Any other stimulus that comes to Bitcoin Nodes? on: October 22, 2021, 09:22:44 PM
I've been studying Bitcoin anatomy, and I'm particularly interested in the Bitcoin network's exceptional privacy and decentralization. I'm curious to learn if there are any other benefits to being a node on the bitcoin network for confirming transactions.

I'm quite aware that bitcoin transaction is been made and confirm in this manner:

[A] Transaction is signed in the wallet the rightful owner.

[B.] The wallet broadcasted the transaction to the memory pool.

[C] Miners chooses the transaction to be process from the pool ( due to difference in fee that comes with every transactions).

[D] Miners find the Nonce that complete the hash output after which the miners is eligible to take the fee and block reward.

[E] Nodes will verify the transaction and add the new block to the existing blockchain history.

[A]  >>  [B.] >>  [C]   >> [D]  >>  [E]

And in other to be a node, ones device must be up 24/7 with available internet and stable power, it doesn't appear to be like a mining but can be tasking to some that's why I want to know if there are more incentives I don't know.

A peaceful protest that was supposed to portray message to the government will always be hijacked by hoodlum and this time again, some were caught in today's protest and I wonder how this guys intend to end the protest.
I mean, why you go carry machete and juju go protest ground? Some guys no try for today protest, na why police arrest some innocent protesters.

But even with the distractions, we must still end police brutality
#End Sars and Reform men in black uniforms.

Today our Heroes will be remembered even though as say the government till date no gree do justice to the massacre death weh happen.
I see our Lie machine minister still denying that nobody died on during end Sars protest, but him forget say immunity power in politics doesn't save you for eternity, one day, him go comot from that place and become normal human like all of us.

To talk true, today 20th October get feeling pass normal October 1st independence day.

Some hours ago, our police dun start dy arrest some citizens as usual, na that Uber guy weh police been just dy beat I weak for, sprayed him pepper spray on the eye, I swear we still need to end police brutality, we need reformation and let them bring them to justice, enough is enough.

This country, need a lots of reconstruction, our government they take this protest thing as play, we the youth eye dun open, they need to do the needful for the society else it may be too late and too calm them will no longer work.

One police man talk for interview say anybody weh dey use car weh dy above #7M dy into fraud, the way this men they think of youth, old men mentality and its pathetic.

This is time for dexes, yes ethereum is expensive but sidechains are not.

The dexes are good but not better with ethereum perhaps BSC is a bit scalable for transactions just that they are a bit centralized with little node. It will get better as we move forward with adoption.
2959  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria (Naija) on: October 16, 2021, 06:43:10 AM

For Nigeria trend dey change like nothing. You remember say no be paw paw dey trend few years back when you reason memes matta, na dat Yoruba actor (I dun forget e name).

Na Odunlade Adekola be the guy, I know the guy and him meme dy also trend for twitter too.
Me self dun reason this matter why this oyinbo's go just dy hype this NFTs, imagine that cyberpunk image weh one cartoon just hold Ciga come get value pass even Bitcoin.
Everything get him time and I think na NFT hype for now but e no go last sha.
2960  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / NFT still dy undervalue for Naija on: October 15, 2021, 11:45:32 AM
NFT still dy undervalue for Naija

As I dy usually do when boredom wan kill me, the place weh I dy like stream na Tiktok and Instagram to get small vibes and trend. I dy usually notice say I dy see small small ADS for there because say i like to do cryptocurrency, na him I come across Snoopdog as the father figure of Metaverse NFT private, he was selling out a 1000 NFT for private Ethereum Metaverse party worth $17 million and my mind just dy do me somehow, how this guys like NFT collection so much in there gallery. I been like the site and I was scrolling down Dycript web, na him I see some related NFT news and the one weh surprised me well na him be the one wey person buy one girl image weh popular for net with one weird look meme for $75k [Side-Eyeing Chloe NFT Sells for $75K to 3F Music]. Everything for this people na business and cashout for their place and if they mean am, it must sell even as many people no like NFT idea and hype.

Coincidentally, I see another update from one of my favorite artist weh the whole Twitter and other platforms known as King of Meme with stage name as pawpaw, he posted some NFT on his IG for sale and i decided to follow the link and I was redirect to his profile page on Rarible with other meme that everyone has been using for trend across the globe but wetin shock me be say, none has been bought so far despite been cheap and affordable with low price. This NFT on a normal day, dem go dun rush am base on how the guy popular, funny and very trending but people bid just small for am, out of all the 5 NFT weh dy open for sale, known has been bought.

For this our naija, na only few know the worth of this Non fungible tokens, the popularity no dy like the way other coins and tokens dy for market and the for this our naija just dy low and undervalue, our paw paw NFTs still dy on sale, lets always support our own, who knows what the king of meme NFT might worth tomorrow.
