It seems Off Topic should be renamed to something like Dating advice for Filipinos, or perhaps we need a sub board for Relationships:

How can you move on from your crush?

I badly need some advise from you guys.  Sad

Is it right to miss someone who don't miss you?

Is it worth all the effort to miss someone who will never miss you back?

Must love be always mutual?

If you're in love with a beautiful lady but it seems the love is not mutual, perhaps she doesn't love you the way you love her,  would you still marry her?

confusion

Sometimes we have to give up when we feel defeated. but if we succumb we will lose.

do you understand what i mean?

I'm close to someone, our relationship is like a boyfriend, but unfortunately this relationship is not yet official. right now he is close to rich guy, what should i do? do i have to give up or continue?

Happy or sad?

Imagine you have a lover but in the end he broke with you when you were very fond of him. in a short time he has forgotten you and now he has a new lover. I have to be happy or sad because the words people really love are happy when they see our loved ones happy, but I can't be happy when he is with other people. Sad

There's many more that have been trashed.
2942  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: August 03, 2018, 03:31:16 PM
If I had to pick a top five it would probably be:

Manchester City
Liverpool
Tottenham
Chelsea
Manchester United

Boring if City win it again. Hopefully someone new will win it. Tottenham haven't signed a single player yet and there's talk of a few players leaving. They need to strengthen their team not weaken it. They did well with the same team last year though so I still think they'll give it a good go but probably don't have what it takes to unsurp City or Liverpool.

Nah, I wouldn't really say it's cheating, but there's nothing we can do to really police it either. Following a tipster isn't guaranteed results either. Think I did much better than Lawro last season. I tend to put my scores in from gut feeling then I'll check what various other tipsters have said like Lawro and Merson on Sky Sports etc and may change them slightly but I usually stick with what I went with initially, but if everyone else says the same result and I've got something different I may change it, but sometimes you shoot yourself in the foot doing it. If anyone wants to copy a tipster result for result I don't really care, but like I said, nothing we could do to prevent it really.
2944  Other / Meta / Re: Alternative to merit system on: August 03, 2018, 01:21:59 PM
The alternative to the merit system is removing signatures completely. Tell me how quickly you'd disappear if that ever happens? As people have already mentioned you are not sending merits but sMerits. They're different and you don't lose merits by giving people sMerits. Having anther system where everyone has an unlimited amount of merits or karma or likes to send would be useless as people would just merit/like/karma their own alts or "friends" accounts until they've ranked up. You're not going to get merit because aside from this thread all of your posts are generic one/two liners. You're going to have to start contributing more here if you want to move up ranks and that's how it should be. In fact, I think we should get even stricter and remove the ability for Junior Members to even have a signature at all until they've received a certain amount of merit (at least one). Far too many people are coming there to spam or copy on their 20 Junior accounts each and this needs to change.

I would not, but he can have a handful if he says so. Sounds funny but this only shows how charismatic Manny is to his followers. He would not be a senator for nothing.

Manny doesn't seem charismatic to me at all. In fact, he doesn't seem to have much of a personality at all, but maybe he's more charismatic in his native tongue. I think it's more a case of him being a champion and a working class hero from humble beginnings that most Filipinos get behind him. People treat him like a god there and they will follow anything he says and defend him whenever he does something wrong or amoral, but I doubt he got voted in merely because of his polices, but because of his fame and has legions of fans. If you appeal to the masses then by the very nature of democracy you will get the most votes and win. Why vote for some faceless politician you know nothing about when you can vote for your hero who put your country on the map?
2946  Other / Meta / Re: Mod, please check new plagiarism: Reporting copy/pasting, please permban on: August 02, 2018, 01:53:57 PM
These two were just caught copy and pasting today:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1258900 lolchina october 28, 2017
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=986308 grchina     April 17, 2017

Both very likely alts and both exchanged merits with:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1766135     teskostecenje     January 28, 2018

And both received merits from:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=443338     CjMapope     February 13, 2015

They should probably be looked into. teskostecenje  is almost certainly an alt.

Edit: Surprise surprise  teskostecenje is copy and pasting as well:

I do partly, because I still have some doubts. These ratings do have some truth in them since I believe the raters do make their research on a particular ICO. But most of these ratings are paid for so they kinda become sort of an advertisement rather than a reference for investment.

I do partly, because I still have some doubts. These ratings do have some truth in them since I believe the raters do make their research on a particular ICO. But most of these ratings are paid for so they kinda become sort of an advertisement rather than a reference for investment. But ratings still provide some good insights which we can still use in choosing an ICO.

Cue the thread in Meta asking why their accounts were banned.
2947  Other / Meta / Re: All bounty hunters are from Philippines?? (PROOF) on: August 02, 2018, 12:37:50 PM
It's no wonder bitcointalk has such a spam problem, and from what I've seen most of it comes from just a few countries, and the Philippines is one of them.  I've said that before, and I got branded a horrible racist because of it, but it's true.

That's probably because of the language and tone you use. When you call people by derogatory terms (pajeets etc) and refer to them as rats or whatever it's a bit over the top. If you were going to call Africans or Mexicans niggers and spics and refer to them as vermin etc then people would probably quite rightly call you a racist. Yes, the spam from anyone is extremely annoying and it is a huge problem with he amount of Filipinos that are causing it, but we shouldn't tar an entire country with the same brush nor is it necessary to refer to them in such disparaging terms which I don't think helps.

If anyone doesn't believe that people from Philippines are really good at speaking English. I'm pretty sure that Google will give you some result  Wink

Or just read this article...
"Well, people will now have to think twice before mocking Filipinos’ use of the English language since according to a study by GlobalEnglish Corporation, the Philippines was named the world’s best country in business English proficiency, in not just one but two consecutive years. GlobalEnglish releases an annual report called Business English Index (BEI)the only index that measures business English proficiency in the workplace."

Source: http://www.staffvirtual.com/call-center-capital-of-world-philippines-best-in-english

Nothing much to say Smiley

This obviously isn't the case across the board, but I'm sure people who work in offices have much better linguistic skills than the average unemployed Filipino on the street. If it was then nobody would have an issue with any Filipinos, but it's the ones who come here and churn out barely decipherable mindless drivel when they quite clearly can't speak English that is the problem, or even worse is when they just copy someone else's post because they quite clearly can't speak English. We really should be encouraging these people to stick to their local boards if they struggle with English as that's what they're there for, and there should certainly be punishments for campaigns that accept and pay for these sorts of post. If they couldn't get paid then they wouldn't make them in the first place.

With Manny Pacquiao's fight last month, people from the Philippines were all watching. That was the first time also that we saw a crypto related ads on his fight. Filipinos with knowledge of crypto suddenly became interested of GCOX thinking that this is a legitimate ICO. They are not only bounty hunters, there are also who invest in that ICO because we believe and have trust in Manny Pacquiao. We could see a lot of Filipinos in GCOX bounty and ICO because of Manny.

Would you suck Manny's dick if he told you it was a good idea? Blindly investing in something just because a celebrity endorses it is a good way to lose your money. Manny Pacquiao and many others would advertise anything as long as the money is good enough so I would be careful trusting him or anyone else. Many celebs including Mayweather and Paris Hilton have already backed scams and that's why scammers often use them because it's good promotion and many celebs are happy to advertise anything as long as they get paid to do so.
2948  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's English Premier League Football Pool £25 to join Prize Pot @ £725 on: August 02, 2018, 12:13:20 PM
That’s really good of them, fair play. I think the competition is going to be a lot more intense this season. It’s going to be a lot harder just to get in the top 5.

Edit - Just looked at superbru.com & signed up, seems a little more complicated to find your way around there but I’m sure we’ll all figure it out.

There's only about 5 extra players this season so shouldn't be that much harder unless they're all experts  Cheesy. I really liked the simplicity and presentation of the BBC site, but unless we can find anything else superbru will have to do. I'd rather have something that is reliable more than anything and at least a couple of others have vouched for it. I kinda like how you get some consolation points for a near miss as well.

I'm not sure if this is posted in the right board.

I have a client who managed several scam ICOs and have asked me to make signatures for it.
He now told me to directly talk to the ICO team and ask for payment. Isn't it the bounty managers responsibility that I get my payment? Since he personally asked me to create those signatures which isn't part of the bounty canpaign?

Am I allowed to ask him for ETH or Btc as payment instead of the tokens since the ICO has failed?

I have received a response from one of the ICO team and they refuses to pay me because their ICO failed.

You should work that stuff out before you agree to work with them, but if the bounty manager asked you to do something I think it's safe to say he should be the one ultimately responsible for getting you the payment whether it's out of his own pocket or not. If you agreed to do a deal in tokens then I don't think that entitles you to payment in another currency though, but that's why you shouldn't agree to get paid in tokens, because if it fails then they're worthless. At least do a 50/50 deal or something.

You should also get payment upfront or use escrow if the person can't be trusted. I would never do anything for an ICO with the promise that they will pay you after it has finished because it's just too much risk.

Who is the bounty manager?

I always end up slacking in Fantasy League tournaments. You can change your captain each week & they get double points. Sometimes though certain teams have 2 games in 7 days so you can factor that in. It’s really hard to keep up with, I might give that one a miss.

Edit - Just saw BBC predictor might not be available. How are we going to do it?

You can find that the BBC site won't be available but not the replacement? We will be using superbru.com unless anyone has any other suggestions: https://www.superbru.com/premierleague_predictor/start.php

It seems they also do a fantasy one.

Also, good news in that Cloudbet will be sponsoring the tournament and they will be putting $500 into the pot for the winners so the prize fund is over £1000 now. Hopefully we can get some more sign-ups to bolster the pot even more. I'll probably start collecting money in at the end of the week or early next week so keep an eye out for that.

I would not ask him to look into alts because of merit abuse, I would ask him to look into alts because of evidence that one person with many accounts is making many low quality posts. The appearent merit abuse is simply how we know they are likely the same person.

The admins wont look into any alts for any sorts of abuses. People mass farming/botting should be looked into especially when they're ban evading but it's just not something they seem to be concerned with. It's this Laissez-faire attitude or lack of time to look into these sorts of things that is why the forum is such a shitshow and is only going to get worse. It's not going to be long before the only people who are posting here are farmers, bots and bounty hunters churning out their one liners if that hasn't happened already.

BadBear would often look into alts in connection with banning spammers such as those described in the OP, there are a couple of instances in which he banned spammers minutes after they bought (and paid for) accounts, which certainly should have discouraged spammers from buying accounts.

Occasionally he would. It was too much work for one person and probably why he just left due to burnout, but now nobody is doing it at all. Even accounts aren't being restored despite numerous people having more than sufficient proof and being verified by others.
2953  Other / Meta / Re: All bounty hunters are from Philippines?? (PROOF) on: August 01, 2018, 01:22:56 PM
Hello! I'm from the Philippines and I'm quite surprised of how many Filipinos are participants of that campaign, because to be honest, not a lot of people know about bitcoin in here. I live in Manila - which is supposed to be the most "advanced" city in my country - but even so, the number of people who know about cryptocurrency or that it even exists in this city is very low, even among teenagers and young adults. However, I guess it's not fair to assume that that's a result of multiaccounting. Just my two cents  Wink

It's probably still a fairly underground thing, but like I said news is probably quickly spreading about this forum there. Next time you see one of the spam threads that pop up titled things like how did you hear about bitcoin? or why did you join bitcoin? they're usually full of Filipinos saying things like my schoolmate/teacher/cousin/workmate/friend told me I can earn here. Once they start earning they then tell all their friends and family and things get exponentially worse as they all sign up often with multiple accounts to maximise earnings. I don't have an issue with anyone earning here and think it's great if it makes a difference to their lives but it's the people who get greedy or desperate and start shitposting with multiple accounts or copy and pasting and unfortunately there are a lot of people doing this. When you can't speak English or know next to nothing about bitcoin it just leads to a colossal degradation in the quality of discussion here and not really many decent discussions happen any more. People don't really engage in conversations, they just write a half-assed post consisting of a sentence or two of rehashed opinion and then move onto the next thread to do the same. Rinse and repeat over however many accounts you have.

Shouldn't it be considered a good thing if people start reporting more bad posts?
Since only 195 users qualify at the moment, I don't think it should be higher.

Not really. There's a couple of users who have just started frantically spamming the report queue recently with hundreds of reports a day probably because theymos announced the possibility of merit badges. It's clear some of them are actually just looking for things to report because they're reporting old threads that haven't been posted in for ages just to be 'locked' or spam posts from ages ago. Just saw one report from January on a spam post. Is that really essential? Nobody will see or miss that post whether it's there or not. Do I really need to waste my time deleting hundreds of posts long buried in a bounty thread? All it does is swamp the queue with things that are either going to take a long time to handle or not get handled at all and increases the chances of us missing something important that needs handling urgently.

There probably should be two report buttons or two queues or something. One for urgent things and the other one for sig spam or whatever. Maybe there could be dedicated mods/patrollers that handle the sig spam etc. There's thousands of spammers and bots making thousands of posts so it's never-ending.

Obviously not all of them are but most bounty hunters these days seem to be from the Philippines and news of this forum is probably spreading like wildfire through the streets, school playgrounds and offices there. They're the ones who who come here for their 'daily needs' and are quitting their jobs to do bounties full time (if they have one at all in the first place). I wouldn't mind if they just collected bounties but it's when they start copy and pasting and spamming everywhere when they quite clearly can't speak English very well if at all and when they're getting paid to post its recipe for disaster, especially when most of them have little to knowledge or interest in bitcoin other than they just found out you can earn good money here.

Could we have a set of badges to select from? I want to have the ability to pick my own badge, maybe we could grant this special access to several badges to select from to people with more than 1000 reports?
For example, I want the eraser badge.

Being able to choose your own would just be unnecessary confusing if everyone had a different badge for the exact same thing and that's why they should be uniform as the badge means something and should be easily identifiable. I think people should be able to disable them if they don't like them or wish to be displayed though.

Sorry, but this isn't a good idea. Hitting 300 good reports isn't that hard.

Yes, of course! It is possible to send 300 reports in 1 day!

Then we need to increase the number to get the badge. How about 30k report as the first milestone for the badge?

It would be very difficult and incredibly time-consuming to do 300 in one day. If people start spamming the report queue very quickly just to hit their targets then the minimum should should be made higher. Maybe 300 is too low to start with in the first place. 30k is too high though. 500 or 100 would be a good start I think as I'm sure once badges are awarded people will step up their report game.
2957  Other / Meta / Re: Is merit point System Really Working on: August 01, 2018, 11:25:51 AM
I think there should be a KYC verification system and mobile verification system present on bitcointalk.org ? KYC will surely help removing multiple account users from the forum and make forum much more clean. But many people will fear to reveal their information as they wont have security against their private info. The forum is not run by a single person or firm. It is a place where all the people contribute to it and is handled by administrator. Also we dont know about satoshi, the person who created BTC and this forum. So, my question is will you reveal your private info to such forum (site) with no security against it?

This is never going to happen and theymos has stated as such.

I think that the scoring system works well, but unfortunately there is one important shortcoming.

Merit groups are formed, which are exchanged in exchange for financial benefits. What if they cheat others. It is important that there is money, people cheat and it is sad that the administration "does not see" it.

The question is. What will all this decentralisation do for us? From blockchain to the Stone Age? ..

The number of people trading merit between themselves is probably exaggerated, but it's a very risky business because you risk exposing all your alts and when this sort of abuse is spotted negative trust is usually issued thus ruing all their accounts. If this is something you're prepared to do just to rank up then know that there are serious consequences that probably don't make it worth the risk.
2958  Economy / Reputation / Re: Mr and Mrs Creampie Cumshot merit spitballing on: August 01, 2018, 11:19:41 AM

edit: actually thinking about it for a bit, there is a good chance there are more not connected via this merit circle. I say have theymos look into his current alts and ban them all if they meet the criteria.

Theymos won't look into cases of merit abuses. He nor cyrus don't look into anything related to ban evasion or even bot abuse etc. Even the people caught farming or copy and pasting on an industrial scale and are ban evading are free to evade on how many other hundreds of accounts they have and they do regularly. Meanwhile staff have to play whack-a-mole with the bots wasting time finding them manually when many of them could likely be found by a simple IP check. Merit abuse isn't a huge issue and probably shouldn't be wasting time at an admin level but the bot spam and ban evasion is. This guy already has a banned account and I'm sure there are many more.

2959  Other / Meta / Re: Disable signatures/bounties til a user reaches full member status. on: July 31, 2018, 03:02:02 PM
You know what, I didn't even realise Juniors couldn't have a clickable signature since then. I swear I've still seen Juniors with them. I'm a strong proponent of removing signatures completely from lower ranks and also requiring at least one merit to become a Junior, but I don't think it would effect traffic one bit.

It was implemented right before the Merit system was.

Jr Members can no longer have signature links.

At the time I assumed with the objective of excluding them from signature campaigns but that didn't work as they just use text versions of the URL. I think Google's crawler must still see it as a backlink so it is still worthwhile to advertisers.

Regardless of backlinks it's still a very good advertisement here. A public billboard doesn't have a clickable links but it still gets their message/product out there and people will just do their own research (or googling) if/when they see it and it's something they're interested in. ICOs have absolutely nothing to lose by paying Juniors in tokens they've pre-mined for free and they will pay them for whatever crap they post so that's why I think we'll have to force their hand into not accepting them.
2960  Other / Meta / Re: Disable signatures/bounties til a user reaches full member status. on: July 31, 2018, 01:27:29 PM
I think most likely they were either copper members as well junior members or there was/is a bug.

By the way, can you look at this?

If we have people getting paid without clickable signatures, we are going to keep getting lots of spam.
Copper members can not join bounties before ranking up to Junior members, right?
I guess they often has not get the same payment rates as of Junior rank by simply spending small amount of bitcoin to buy Copper Member rank.

Many people can join bounties even at Newbie and Junior level, and all that takes is 30 activity which can be achieved in as little as two weeks, but it's the signature campaigns that they'll want and there are some that pay specifically for Copper rank and usually at the same rate as Members as Copper membership gives you the benefits of being a Member (which I'm assuming means their signature size):

Available paid memberships:

Copper - 0.00208333 BTC: Allows you to post images even if you are a newbie, reduces the time-between-actions limit, and provides some of the same benefits as being of natural Member rank.
