Meantime I just took a look at the latest litecoin price.

Well, how much more profitable does this make Titans? Worth fixing again?

Alright since I have my Jupiter running, not 24/7 just when I tinker with it, what is the best version of firmware to run on it?
I'm running KNC jupiter-1.01 now, or can a KNC one from a newer miner or a newer one that is not from KNC?
I believe the Neptune 1.06 code should be able to run a Jupiter board. Give it a try for experiment's sake.

Be sure to make it so the LCD says LIGHTFOOT BBB mod...(would not want to mix up controllers......and intermingle with them 'evil knc PI boards) Hm....just got 3 pi qberty boards fixed ....and got 3 neppie cards coming with BBB ..crap...I should now get more That's why these light up blue, not green. My comments and such are on the main status page. C

All done, just need a micro-SD card reader to make a copy of the image. Instructions are simple: Write it to a Micro SD card, put it in, boot, set your titan values, and rock. The root password is not set, so you can log in as needed, I'll set the default web account to admin/admin.
The screen will display titan-bbb 2.00, and the light will be blue when it goes solid on (to differentiate this from the usual green LED). You can mine with my default credentials for a week if you want to repay me or send some bitcoin/litecoin to the proper address.
That's about it. Underneath the hood it's kind of a mess, but on the top end it's pretty nice. I should have it posted to a dropbox by Monday or so at the latest.

Meantime I have been working on the bbb titan code. I've got everything patched so I can distribute this as a .img file and let people extract it to sd cards except I can't figure out how to get i2c-loop.sh to auto start. It's annoying as hell because aside from that everything works now.
Will keep pounding this weekend. What's a good free-file site to post a couple of gig file?

Sounds awesome, may i suggest asking Henrik about the i2c-loop.sh. https://mega.nzdropbox and some others if you need them. If you managed to document your steps on a fresh linux install, please hand them to me and ill make a guide for you to post somewhere. Well, I figured it out. Putting i2c-loop in rc.local gets it up and running, but too late for bfgminer which has started and needs to be bounced. So I put a 30second delay in the bfgminer.sh file, that stalls it long enough for the loop to enable the i2c lines properly. Documenting this takes a lot of time, I'm focused now on getting code out there for people to use (ie: you....). Will work on that eventually.

Ok, these are funny. Wish he had made a little hammer or drill one for fixing things, but they're very cute.
Happy April Fool's day!

Wow. A bitcoin miner that has 2w/gh efficiency. I remember when that was a massive step up from the 4w/gh of the Bfl Jalapeno which was light years ahead of the 10w/gh or so of the old stick miners.
Fun stuff....

I'm still repairing Titans, funny how these things keep being profitable....

Oh come on, it's just funny and of course a coincidence. But feel free to buy me a beer next time we're in Vegas.

What, another block? Edit: Yep, I have the worst luck :-)

Well it did just get cold.... No worries, I was mining a few years ago and am out of that business other than for fun. It's a Queen's race, but it is nice to help contribute to keeping the network secure.

Real world use cases for litecoin are nonexistent.
People used to use it to move funds quick(er) between exchanges. Not sure if this is still the case. I actually accept payment for miner repairs in both bitcoin and litecoin. I would like to see the local bitcoin ATM also do Litecoin, it would be handy to turn it into money for parts like I can do with bitcoin, the fees are lower, and the transactions confirm much quicker. Thus for smaller value transactions (under a K or so) it would be quite useful. C

Yup, the last shares had to fall off the chain. Ah well, better to have my bad luck discharged here than in other aspects of my life.....

Is this Bitmain or that authorized service company?

It has been some time since we have seen an update in stats. I am I bit discouraged because I want to change my BTC address. I have received no reply from Wizkid after an email maybe a month ago. I have no idea how much I have mined so it becomes difficult. What other mining pools without fees are doing well right now? Thanks everyone P2pool can use some hashing, it has no fees (well, 1% to developer by default but you can turn that off if you really want to) and does the payout directly to the miners as new coins. I doubt WK is being fraudulent, that would be a weird exit strategy to say the least. It might be that developing a new payment system is a lot harder than one might think, and any error will be pretty much irreversible. Toughie.

Hello, maybe somebody got a hint what I will expect if I open up my titan cube?
Today I looked at my mining pool and one of my 3 titans were hashing significantly lower, so I checked all 3 miners -> 1 cube was dead out of 4. So I went to the attic and found black cables from the power supply (I was lucky that my PSU did not give up, rather used the cables as fuses) and burned molex. I did not reconnect, because I need a more stable environment. The molex was completly melted from the upper 2 connections.
1234 5678
The cables from 1 and 2 were completely broken (fused), black, melted and done. on the back I have seen some black dust, because the fan did not work anymore. I have it sitting in my workshop now waiting for surgery.
Thanks for any responses
That's bad. But be incredibly happy it didn't take out every cube on the controller. When the power PCIe Molex pin heats up, the resistance increases which causes it to draw more current. Which heats it up more. Eventually a pin opens and the other 2 pins have to take all the power and they heat more. When you run out of pins, it will try to pull power from the 10 pin ribbon cable. This will destroy the cube, the controller, and potentially every other cube on the controller (as the current draw will try go go through their 10 pin ribbon cables to their PCIe plugs. Solution: Run your cubes at about 60mh, not 80mh each. In the meantime if you would like me to take a look at this burned board send me a PM. If the controller and other cubes were still hashing while the 10 pin ribbon cable was plugged in it might be possible that it can be fixed. But slow down the other cubes (250mhz seems to be a good selection); it would be sad to burn the house down.

The real problem is re-placing QFN chips just sucks. With BGA you have nice little balls that you can place on the pads, preheat, heat, and they drop with a nice little thud, but QFN is a crapshoot. Either there is too much solder on the pads, not enough, almost enough and you have to drag solder around the edge with an iron, and then you pull up a pad and life just loses meaning.
Bigger question: Is it worth it? Replacing the QFN48 power chips on a KNC controller board is worth it (although I prefer swapping the BGA FPGA by a long shot and have never screwed one up) but is it worth it for a S7?

Don't worry. It finally warmed up here so I shut down my miners. Once my shares age out I'm sure we will hit multiple blocks.
Enjoy!
