2963  Economy / Speculation / Re: May want to move your funds from MtGox this week on: March 20, 2013, 03:59:49 PM
Normally I'd be against alarmist posts, but since there isn't much reason to have MtGox holding your private wallet contents in the first place, this post just rings of common sense and nothing else. Bitcoins should always be under your own control until you're ready to spend them.

This. I personally use a 4-tier system:
Amount of bitcoins stored increases from left to right.

MT.Gox/Centralized exchange < Blockchain.info < Hot wallet using Bitcoin-QT < Paper Wallet from Offline Armory

Something is wrong with blockchain.info

When I try to search an address, it returns this:

Code:
Got error 157 'Unknown error code' from NDBCLUSTER

Example: http://blockchain.info/address/1Kf1nT7jQnFC7N3tSdgg5qKGTV4MucfpBg

I sure hope so!

In regards to Bitcoin WoT, here is my public key: D3B2229A607C4CFD, my username on the web IRC is kenerwin88, and I registered a new bitcoin address with it (1DQLDDupqrgyobzatk8xfWY3uPnHZYKhYX).  To the people who recommended WoT, what is the best way for me to establish trust with the Bitcoin community, and should I be adding my public key to my signature?  Thanks!

Will rate after the completion of this deal. Repeat loaners get massively lower rates and higher amounts!  Grin
2968  Economy / Lending / Re: Something small / short-term... on: March 20, 2013, 05:54:18 AM

Confirmed - will send BTC3.00 shortly to 1ATCeZcyMxtRPd2BmqKcK13euPMPXYfSLD after confirmation of loan details.
Repayment of BTC3.50 will be to 1E7WYLWhP7r2bssrxDZhv28yLFjfgfH9ig in, or on 14 days after I send the coins.

Correct. And my address is:

1ATCeZcyMxtRPd2BmqKcK13euPMPXYfSLD

(Yes, vanity address! Cheesy)

Regards,

--ATC--

Thanks!

All agreed, and I will acknowledge when the coin is received. Note that bowjob gave me 3.00 already. I'm taking up both of you guys' offers so I will be closer to the 5.00 I'd hoped for.

Ok, here's the "proof pic"... Sorry my camera is a piece of crap and I had to do it in the mirror and flip the image. But it's usable.  Tongue

Still looking for a few coins on the short-term... You can see my OTC feedback here:

http://bitcoin-otc.com/viewratingdetail.php?nick=ATC

You can also ask around about me... Talk to BCB, TradeFortress, BTC4amazon, EPiSKiNG-, yoyoceramic, etc... These are just a few guys I've done business with in excess of $500. I also have a Facebook account older than Bitcoin itself, and do business under my real name. I'm always willing to exchange phone numbers, FB friendship, email, etc. And I trade BTC in-person here in Baton Rouge.

Again, this isn't a super big deal but having some coin to utilize right now (rather than waiting till next week when I get a chance to buy some) would be immensely helpful. I'm willing to pay back 6.00 for a 5.00 loan, or 3.50 for 3.00. Or we can negotiate. It's whatever.  Smiley

Regards,

--ATC--

Let's do 3 BTC for 3.5 after a week. Now due to the recent scamming shenanigans, I need to know that it is indeed you. A pic of you with a fansign will do.
This +1. With the recent MAC problems, I guess it's good to require some form of identification apart from the one the forum has. A bitcoin-signed statement with your address here: 1DJ6bxRUgJDhPhtMWt8dV8Hoyfnx4HT3ES will do for me. (found here: http://bitcoin-otc.com/viewgpg.php?nick=ATC)

Update: I'm also holding 1000BTC of the forum's funds until further notice.
Don't spend it all in one place!   Grin
It's held in a Armory paper wallet, backed at a few different places. I can't even spend it easily as I'll have to visit the safe or bank for it.  Tongue

Hi! Ok, I've been on for 4 hours 5 minutes and made 10 posts. Why is it that I still can't post in the main section of the forum?
It should work now.

Everyone, please drop a PM to me if you've reached the requirements but the system has yet to upgrade you.
2974  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Home Page - Simple and Efficient Homepage on: March 20, 2013, 04:37:24 AM
By the way bitcoinhomepage.net isn't registered you should buy that so it is better looking than a sub-domain. Also learn some CSS it could really make, your site sparkle, a bit better.
Yes, take both of his suggestions. The list is quite conclusive, but the design is still lacking. Good luck! (and I love the fact that you didn't use ref links everywhere - adds quite a bit of legitimate feel to the site)
2975  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: First Insurance Company to Accept Bitcoin on: March 20, 2013, 03:58:33 AM
I'm moving this as it belongs at the Announcements section, but feel free to post another thread here on offering insurance. Welcome!  Cheesy

Contract signed and returned to theymos. For the record, the public holding address is 1Kf1nT7jQnFC7N3tSdgg5qKGTV4MucfpBg .

Shouldn't that be public holding addresses?

I'm assuming that each of these 'treasures' have gpg signed an address for where they will be holding the forum's money for the community to monitor and watch.
That address only holds my portion of the forum's funds, of course.  Yes, theymos has a copy of the GPG-signed contract with the address within. I never issue unsigned addresses, especially for my escrow service.
2977  Other / Meta / Re: Request for spanish section on: March 19, 2013, 06:31:44 PM
a section that says "Centroamerica y Caribe"

Isn't one is readily available here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=27.0 ?

Whitelisted for the meaningful contribution. (and good job on the design)
2979  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Note to Bitcoin Devlopers & Newbies on: March 19, 2013, 06:08:35 PM
A quick note to all services...

If you plan to use an api, it is suggested you use blockchain.info. blockchain.info offers a reliable service to read information and receive Bitcoins. The only downfall is blockchain.info gives NO SUPPORT AT ALL and the api to send coins is almost always down. If blockchain.info had support that replied at all and the api to send Bitcoins worked then this site would be simply the best. My conclusion that they offer no support, by ignoring users, is my many attempts to contact them.

Now blockexplorer.com, which used to be the best, is now the worst. If you have a service and plan to use blockexplorer.com then DONT. blockexplorer.com bans services that use it's api. What is the point in having an api if you ban everybody that goes to use it? It does not make sense.

So remember to boycott blockexplorer.com and use blockchain.info

This message was posted by a user who has used blockexplorer.com for years but never will again.
Also this post has no connection to blockchain.info which is why I pointed out they have no support.

Please send a PM to piuk (that guy above) for any issues you have with his service. Frankly, this is my advice for tons of members asking around for support, and it hasn't failed yet. (Also, please don't send a PM every single hour looking for a faster reply)
2980  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie time required not shown on: March 19, 2013, 06:04:44 PM
The time requirement is clearly stated in one of the sticky posts.  Did you even read the titles of the sticky posts?  Anyway, I'm not going to tell you how long the time limit is and I'm not going to correct another major misunderstanding you have regarding how this works.  You need to read the forum.

As far as how much time you have been on, look in the top left hand corner of the site when you are logged in.  Under your name it has show unread posts then show new replies then watch list and below that is your total time logged in, followed by how long you have spent logged in to this forum.  When that hits the number stated in the post you need to read then you will have full posting rights.

As far as you loosing money because you can't post here goes... I don't give a shit.  I doubt anybody else here does either, because you haven't read the simple forum instructions at the top of the forum.  Stop being a lazy, whiny bitch.  The mods clearly posted the rules.  You need to follow them and not act like people here owe you something.  Unless, of course, somebody here does owe you something, like if you got scammed out of your bitcoins or something then acting like they owe you something makes sense.  Me personally, I don't owe you anything.  I don't even owe you the explanation I'm typing right now.  I'm typing it because I'm a nice guy.  You're welcome.

I'm at least as new as you, I don't have full posting rights either, which is annoying, but you have to control your emotions and treat people like human beings.
You're whitelisted for your informative posts. Welcome.
