2961  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: what is the best mining hardware for 1000 us dollars on: August 08, 2013, 06:20:26 PM
The topic says it all/ I am an old returning miner. Had 2 HD 6970 and 4 HD 6950 on three machines.

They have been there for since 2009.all in all good investment with its ups and downs.but wondering what's best hardware now
For 1000 $  or basic miners or basic mining shares ?

Considering the HD cards are available in local market and I guess can be sold for fifth the price when used

I'd look at used Jalapeno or Blade.

Is there a program out there i can monitor my BTC balance without the need of my wallet.dat ? A nice gui program would work Smiley

I guess you don't like https://blockchain.info/?
They have APIs so you can create any web page you like.  Format it to your liking and add auto refresh and be done.
Access it from your phone/tablet etc.

This looks like an incomplete response from a pool that doesn't support transparent/secure stratum.
Pretty normal, in that case, and shouldn't be displayed higher than debug mode...

Thanks Luke.  It was bitminer, I removed it from my failover list.

Luke, is bfgminer throttling work based on BFL device temperature?

I'm seeing 85-86C on one BFL device and was wondering if bfgminer has a logic to throttle work, sort of like GPU
temp control.

Thanks,
af_newbie

That is good news indeed.

Looks good.  Can you make them for $200-300 or so?

Since you have a Mini Rig SC, I was wondering if it has a built in router/Linux like Avalon or you connect the 8 long boards to an internal USB hub and then connect that hub to a PC?
It has a Nexus7 builtin, but you can plug the USB into a Windows system just fine.

Can one PC handle three mini rigs?
If it's powerful enough (which really isn't that much).

Thanks Luke.  I got it up and running with 3.1.4.  Disconnected Nexus 7 and hooked it up to an Anker hub.
Used the same SiLabs drivers as I used for Erupters (Have not tried cgminer as zdiag fails to set the WinUSB on my machine).

Works ok, I get 483-485 GH/s.  Highest temp is 83C.

Few questions.

1) API returns 128 PGA devices (~4GH/s each).  I guess that is each BFL asic chip.  Is this right?  I expected 8 devices ~60 GH/s each.
Just like the ones displayed in the main window.
2) The hardware errors counts for each device might be incorrect. HW > Accepted
3) I get the following errors: (Not sure what they mean or why am I getting them)

2971  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CraPE v0.2 beta - Boot from USB - Win8 PE Based Mining OS - GPU FPGA ASIC on: August 07, 2013, 03:40:26 AM
I tested first version and had no problems. Now I dont know why, but cant make it work.

CGMiner LTC is loading cgminer-btc.conf (guess shortcut its wrong) and I think akbash is not loading gpu and usb miners.

Post your akbash config file.  Check that log file path and cgminer shortcut exist.  Shortcut should start by double clicking on it.
If it does not, check its properties and run cgminer from the command line.

Run akbash from the command line it should tell you what is wrong.

It's been less than 18 hours since your first post.  I'm sorry our FREE TECH SUPPORT was not quick enough for you.
It wouldn't be free if it would be TECH SUPPORT(ok it would be but you would get a donation as I stetted)... 2 times I needed help and the bug reported first time is still in cgminer... And that time when I was reporting it I was told it not a bug it is is you or your system(but it is not since I found workaround)... This time it was read readme that didn't work... Needed to do something that was not in README...

Don't get upset.  People here are generally helpful.

Some senior members here might treat you like a child because they wrote parts of cgminer and they know "everything" Smiley.

Don't take it personally.  Ignore posts that don't help you.

Do your own debugging.  Don't expect things to be spelled out for you.

Luke,

Since you have a Mini Rig SC, I was wondering if it has a built in router/Linux like Avalon or you connect the 8 long boards to an internal USB hub and then connect that hub to a PC?

Just wondering if it is possible to run one bfgminer on Windows to hook up 3 mini rigs.  Or do I need one separate PC per mini rig.
Can one PC handle three mini rigs?

Thanks,

Look at power supply.  Maybe your cards are underpowered.

2977  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: NEW ASIC 2 Giga hash / sec USB miner - anybody interested ? on: July 24, 2013, 02:37:19 PM
Thanks to all for ideas.
I was thinking about something similar to erk's sub 10Gh/s market.
Seems like 1BTC(or 99 usd, or max. 50 USD per Gh/s) for 2Ghash/s USB device would be a good price.
Hopefully I can provide an update with some good news after a week.
Let's see what we can do with time to market Wink

If you can do 2GH/s from USB (2.5W), it would sell like hotcakes. Move over Avalon, BFL...
It would put all these other players out of business.
2978  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: A new ASIC miner announcement on: July 24, 2013, 02:29:58 PM
I dont know if the market can bare another pre-order asic company. Unless you have plans to sell before sep/oct i dont think you'll find many buyers. Good luck.

After BFL and Avalon pre-orders, nobody in their right mind would order anything that does not ship immediately.

Still, KNC sold many, so maybe he can scam few people.  Good Luck.
