2961  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: With this recent surge in BTC, is it possible to have all time high this year? on: September 22, 2020, 01:33:24 PM
Bitcoin has had too much good news lately, but paradoxically, Bitcoin is in a downward correction trend.
Big companies like MicroStrategy bought hundreds of millions of dollars in Bitcoin, and record-high hashes are good news. Bitcoin could drop in price in the short term ahead of a strong bull run.

Actually we were expecting a big spike, after the latest block reward halving. The supply is getting reduced, so ideally the prices should rise. But that didn't realized, probably due to the difficult economic situation caused as a result of the COVID 19 pandemic. The current prices are broadly in line with what we were having 12 months ago. There were temporary spikes and dips, but none of them lasted more than a few weeks.
2962  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Miami Dade to open Casinos and Restaurants for the third time. on: September 22, 2020, 01:18:26 PM
The small business can still hold and survive because the situations have forced that business, and they need to continue their business with whatever it needed.

Here in my state (Tripura, India) the government estimates that close to one thousand shops have closed down permanently, as they have gone bankrupt due to lack of business and lockdown restrictions. And I believe that this is just the tip of the iceberg. If the situation doesn't improve, then we can expect tens of thousands of small scale businesses closing down. Anyway, the casinos are mostly multi-billion USD businesses and they may be able to survive this tricky phase.
2963  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Privileges as Hostage: How it could Push Countries Toward China on: September 22, 2020, 12:51:02 PM
I think America is just the general term for all Western countries. China is trying to influence in conflict with most western countries. The Chinese strategy is to minimise American influence all around the world, not only Pacific. As America was the last super power. For example, China his heavily investing in Africa and also south America. I think China wants to be a super power themselves nd for that they are trying to secure high commodity countries all around the world. Chinese ownership in foreign companies is increasing every year and another way to influence countries.

A lot of western companies (and even sovereign wealth funds from the western nations) have invested in the Chinese stock market. Chinese companies such as Alibaba do have partial foreign ownership. So what's wrong, if the Chinese investors purchase shares of Western corporations? On the other hand, Americans and Europeans should be concerned about the growing Arab ownership in various Western firms.
2964  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 22, 2020, 12:33:37 PM
KXIP fans would have been shocked on this loss. Till the last ball, they were the favorites but they could not finish it properly. I feel sorry for those who bet on KXIP. I can call this bad luck for them that they lost the bet.

There is no room for complacency in T20 cricket. A single mistake can cost you the match in this format. In the test format, or even in the ODI format, you have some room for maneuvering. But no such liberty with T20 format. Every ball is like a life-and-death duel. Hopefully they have learnt their lesson and will perform in a better manner during their next match (vs RCB, on 24th September).
2965  Economy / Economics / Re: Can legalisation of Cannabis help US economy? on: September 22, 2020, 12:19:58 PM
Thats will be the main problem when that time comes. Criminal activities will increase as this drug can be used anytime, as guns are so normal to own in US, it will be a good pair in my opinion.

I don't agree. In countries such as Uruguay and Portugal, the crime rates went down sharply after the soft-drugs were legalized. On top of that, the deaths from overdose also went down. And you need to remember that the vast majority of the overdose deaths in the US results from prescription opioids and not from the illegal narcotics. And regarding guns, in a majority of the criminal cases the weapons used are not legally registered.
2966  Economy / Economics / Re: Food prices doubled this year on: September 22, 2020, 12:08:23 PM
Actually government can implement on this but not to all establishment because they can reason out that others are doing the same increasing their essential product price. The increase would probably due to the high demand of it especially in populated areas. This is the main cause or reason of high price in basic commodities. This pandemic had really been a troublesome to all. Our activities were put to limit and we could not enjoy life more like in the normal situation.

When the lockdown was first declared, a lot of people were clearing out the supermarket shelves, and were gathering whatever they could find. As a result, the supplies were running low and the prices would have climbed in the black market. But the situation came back to normal in 1-2 weeks. Here in India, a number of smaller shops were indulging in hoarding supplies, so that they can sell them at 2x-3x prices later.
2967  Economy / Economics / Re: COVID-19's "New Normal" is Creating Opportunities in Crypto on: September 22, 2020, 11:49:57 AM
Now most government are announcing that the Virus vaccine will be available soon, either end of this year to 2nd quarter of 2021.

If the speculation is correct, market will fell down again in first quarter of next year so we need to be aware and observant because we may lose in waiting
or in market dumping.

The governments can't promise anything right now, because the WHO hasn't approved any of the vaccines. None of the vaccines have completed the Phase 3 trials and even after the phase 3 trials there are a lot of other regulations and action items to follow. I am not expecting anything before Q2 2021. Politicians can make empty promises regarding the vaccine, but they are not going to get realized.
2968  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: September 22, 2020, 11:22:04 AM
Coming back to vulnerability on green wicket, its simple. BCCI not creating enough green pitch in India, result virtually zero practice for domestic players. Similarly SENA countries not creating enough spin friendly pitches , result they fail in the subcontinent.

There are a few, such as Mohali and Dharamshala. But in the end, the pitches will be prepared as per the instruction from the state cricket board. And most of the 37 boards depend upon spin, and therefore they will prefer spin-friendly pitches. One solution would be to take some of these grounds from the state cricket boards and place them directly under the BCCI. Another solution is to send some of the promising batsmen to play county cricket in England or Sheffield Shield in Australia.
2969  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: US Presidential Election 2020 on: September 22, 2020, 11:09:37 AM
I have read some articles and I found out that the founder of Tether, which is Brock Pierce is also a candidate for the US election. Thus, it just come up to my mind if this could affect the cryptocurrency as a whole since most of the crypto enthusiasts right now is holding tether because of the price decline of most of the cryptocurrencies.

In the US, they have a two-party system and these minor party candidates doesn't matter much. They get hardly any media coverage and their votes in most cases doesn't have any impact on the results. Even John McAfee was planning to run for the POTUS 2020 elections, but now it looks like he has cancelled his plans. The candidacy of Pierce may result in some media coverage, but don't expect much.
2970  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 22, 2020, 11:00:25 AM
I do not think matches are being fixed and why will the player or the franchise indulge in it they know what will happen if they are caught.

There is not even a 0.0001% chance that the matches are fixed. KXIP lost the match as a result of their own stupidity. There is no point in blaming the umpire or anyone else for their defeat. They just needed one run from three balls and still they went down. Mayank Agarwal played so well till the final over. But then he wasted a golden opportunity to give KXIP 2 valuable point as a result of his short-sightedness.
2971  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏏🏏 sportbet.one 🏏🏏 [IPL 2020] Prediction pool and discussion 🏏🏏 on: September 22, 2020, 10:41:21 AM
Timon = Jsraw? Sad to see that you have not hot your first point  Grin
My incompetency doesn't need publicity  Tongue My track record sucks in superbru. Same thing happened in the last pool but don't worry will catch up with you guys soon haha. Hopefully will get some points today, not greedy so happy with the 1 point only.

Last time also I remember you starting badly, but catching up later. Anyway, today we have the RR vs CSK match. Almost everyone have made a bet in favor of CSK. Only me and teosanru are favoring RR to win. I can see that you haven't made your pick yet, but I know which team you are supporting.  Grin

I have noticed some vulnerabilities with CSK during the first match (vs MI). Their scoring rate is not that good and their opening bowlers are not in form. This made me pick RR for today's game. Let's see how it will turn out.
2972  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏏🏏 sportbet.one 🏏🏏 [IPL 2020] Prediction pool and discussion 🏏🏏 on: September 21, 2020, 04:13:58 PM
RCB got a good start here and the best SH batsmen is gone (David Warner). Let's not forget the fact that RCB has one of the best pace-bowling combinations in the IPL 2020, with Steyn, Umesh and Saini finding a place in the playing XI. But their spin bowling department is weak (Washington Sundar/Yuzvendra Chahal). RCB needs to take out either Bairstow or Pandey before the spin bowlers are introduced.
2973  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: The bounty scam will gradually go away on: September 21, 2020, 01:51:39 PM
Scams have existed in the past and will exist in the future, nothing you can do about that. It is in the nature of the people to scam.
If you look at the bounty section today and compare to 2 years, than the number of bounty projects have dropped a lot. I don't participate anymore in any bounty that pays in altcoin because the chance that this new coins get listed on a major exchange is extremely low.

Scams still exist today because the bounty hunters are ready to join shady campaigns with exploitative conditions. A few basic precautions could have drastically cut down the number of scam campaigns. This includes keeping the funds in escrow and not allowing a change in the T&C later. But even these proposals have been ignored by the project teams and the campaign managers.
2974  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏏🏏 sportbet.one 🏏🏏 [IPL 2020] Prediction pool and discussion 🏏🏏 on: September 21, 2020, 01:30:49 PM
I bet on SRH too primarily because Warner is the captain again. RCB added great players like Finch and Morris though it might take them time to settle in.

Hmm... SRH is having better odds, but I have made a bet in favor of RCB. I am a big fan of Virat Kohli and it is quite difficult for me to bet against him, even if that means that I will lose two points today. They do have some great players such as Virat, de Villiers, Finch, Morris and Umesh. Still they have underperformed in the recent editions of the IPL. I hope today that may change.
2975  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why do some people stop their crypto project? on: September 21, 2020, 01:13:45 PM
Most projects are only copying others idea and the team will stop to continue because lack of interest from investors. Another reason could be the market situation and they collected not enough for their plans.

The OP is probably talking about those projects which achieved the soft-cap level. In such cases, you can't claim that there was no interest from the investors. In most of the cases what happens is that the project team accumulates funding from the investors, and then vanish all of a sudden with these funds. In some cases, this will be done in a gradual manner. With every passing month, the development will be phased down, until they reach a point where the activity is completely stopped. In both the cases, the investors will lose their capital.
2976  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Miami Dade to open Casinos and Restaurants for the third time. on: September 21, 2020, 12:46:42 PM
Maybe the gambler annoyed because of the casino is reopening and close and reopen because of the corona. The casino can not do anything except following the local government's health protocols, especially if they want to continue their business. It is normal to see the casino will apply a strict rule to prevent the virus, and as a suggestion from their government, the casino needs to check every people who want to enter their places. The online casino can be an alternative for the gambler who wants to play gambling but too afraid to go to that casino.

The casino may have closed down after the staff got infected, or due to certain directive from the authorities. Anyway, this period is very tough for the businesses. Their revenues are all gone and still they need to take care of the rent and the utility bills. In fact I am quite surprised that a large portion of the small businesses are still holding on. I was expecting a surge of mass-bankruptcies.
2977  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Etherum Fees Double In a Week As DeFi Heats Up on: September 21, 2020, 12:36:12 PM
The increase in transaction prices is indeed very detrimental to users, ethereum needs to improve itself so as not to lose users who keep them afloat.  otherwise ethereum will collapse and be replaced by other coins with cheap transaction prices

It is not going to collapse, but a lot of the projects will move to other platforms such as Cardano and Qtum. Right now, many of the users are not paying enough attention, because even after deducting the fee, they are getting good returns. But the mood will change once the DeFi bubble bursts. People will search for convenient scapegoats and Ethereum chain will be on the top of the list.
2978  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How safe is Tether.to/USDT? on: September 21, 2020, 12:26:10 PM
Tether is very safe and price stays at $1.
I am a holder of it as stable coin.
With market cap increase 4x in 2020 to 15$ billion, thanks to the surging DeFi sector.
https://cointelegraph.com/news/tether-market-cap-increases-almost-4x-in-2020-to-15-billion

You are free to put your trust in any asset and I am not going to say anything against it. Your money, and so no one has the right to say anything against your decision. But there is no such thing as a "trusted" or "safe" resource in the world of cryptocurrency. We realized this many times, when exchanges such as Mt Gox, BTC-e, Wex.nz and Cryptopia went down all of a sudden. Now USDT is nothing more than a token which is issued by the Bitfinex exchange. Do you think that we can trust this token more than the exchange which is issuing it?
2979  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Privileges as Hostage: How it could Push Countries Toward China on: September 21, 2020, 12:16:36 PM
This isn't a probability anymore because that's exactly what the Chinese government are doing. Their presence can be felt in most countries in africa, they're responsible for most development ongoing in that region. China knows there's lots of untapped opportunity in africa and are doing everything humanly possible to dominate.

Credit has to be given when something is been done right, the Chinese government's are improving alot of counties economy and if that means they're building an army for themselves that's not much of a problem provided they're not forcing it on the countries.

For the next 2-3 decades, if you want the maximum returns, then you should invest in Africa. It was China during the 1990s and the first decade of 2000. And then it was developing markets such as India and Brazil during the last decade. But now all these markets are saturated and it's Africa's turn. Many of the African countries will witness steep economic growth in the next few decades. The Chinese are aware of this, and that's why they are investing there.
2980  Economy / Economics / Re: Boris is right a second lockdown could cripple UK economy. on: September 21, 2020, 12:08:41 PM
UK was under lockdown for many weeks. Around 40,000 people lost their lives during this lockdown period. So what makes the critics think that another lockdown may reduce the mortality rates? The initial lockdown was successful in slowing down the community spread. But now community spread has been reported from almost all the British counties. Any new lockdown measure will have very limited positive outcomes. On the other hand, such measures can cripple the economy, to a point of no return.
