2981  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Iran shoots down a U.S. drone on: June 21, 2019, 07:54:37 PM
The whole point of a transponder is it allows identification of an aircraft, so by default any aircraft without an active transponder is a potential threat regardless of the airspace it occupies.
That is ridiculous. Any US military aircraft is a threat to Iran, because the US and Iran are enemies.

Planes can do what they wish in international airspace. Unless the aircraft is provoking another aircraft, creating the need for it to be defended, it is unacceptable to attack the aircraft under freedom of navigation laws.

Seems to me that in a place where mystery people attack oil tankers, some eyes in the sky are definitely in everyone's interest.

Oh, wait. Iran doesn't want those eyes in the sky, do they.

If the drone had it's transponder on, the track is easily available.  If it had the transponder off, it was up to no good and a threat which should not be tolerated.

The nation who was flying a drone without a transponder .....

Says who? You?

Says anyone who cares about the safety of people using the airspace.  That's what transponders are for.  What kinds of activities would one be doing with their transponders turned off?  How long would a transponder-less spy craft be permitted to buzz around over the U.S.....

Depends on where it was, what class of airspace it was it, and what altitude.

Some people we know in that region are totally cool with switching off their transponders and hiding behind U.S. aircraft, Russian aircraft, and general civilian aircraft in order to get into position to launch an attack.  Some people consider that to be a cowardly tactic which puts innocent lives at risk while the perps seem to feel that it is a demonstration of their superior intellect.  They think, I guess, that nobody else would be 'smart' enough to think of such a thing.

No, your assumptions regarding purpose, intent, and typical usage of transponders are all wrong.

Government owned aircraft are not bound by regulations covering manned aircraft.

Second, regulations concerning transponder use is changing, with ADS-B being required by year end, and regulations regarding UAV have been in a constant state of change for twenty years.

Third, your assumptions regarding Mal-intent being a reasonable assumption if a transponder was off is nonsense.

Fourth, the obvious use of high altitude surveillance in that area is to observe and record any more ship attacks, such as the recent unprovoked attack on the oil tankers. Apparently Iran does not want that. Of course, they can't stop it, and after this we'll likely double down on observation.

Again, literally a photoshop, just a troll.

Got it. Complete liars. That has to be suspected anytime the NASA photograph ID tag is not supplied by these fraudsters. ALL THE ACTUAL PHOTOS are one click away.

That rock, that's the one they talked about and went over to. Very interesting story.

It's a bit late to react to something from the 80s. That's almost 40 years ago...
....
You should have told that to Obama when he reacted to the events between the US and Iran in the 1980s just a couple years ago.

And he reacted wrongly. Way, way wrongly.

Over time, you'll hear a lot of really stupid things from atheists, no fewer than from religious individuals.

I am not sure that this is true.  I hear some batshit crazy shit from religious individuals ALL the time.  Practically, the moment they open their mouth or write their first sentence.

On average, atheists are more educated and more intelligent so you will hear less 'stupid things' from them.

You may not have been around large groups of atheists. I assure you, there is no reason to honor them as a group, relative to other groups.

Also I look at things differently then you. You may be using a mechanistic 19th century point of view regarding facts and statements, while I look at grammatical constructs and symbolism.

As one example of looking at things said as grammatical constructs, suppose somebody parrots a statement on a "hot button issue." Then, they feel good.

That's all above feeling good, the issue was not at all relevant. All kinds of people do this.

Hmm, that makes sense, but it would only work for people who want to be right (about something, anything) all the time (probably the majority of people).

I love to be proven wrong. That is the only way to progress your thinking.  Being right is boring, IMHO.

If you learn how to understand what people are saying, what they are really saying instead of the fact of the words, that's very powerful.

I have not seen this method discussed much, just trying to explain it. However, it IS the 21st century, and this is not a place or time to have a 19th century mechanistic point of view...

No, they are not the same size.

Of course the images are blurred from the original crisp NASA images, right? That's obvious. But even in your purposely blurred copies, one rock's crop measures at 27 pixels, the other at 1 pixels.
2988  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The difference between Bitcoin and Facebook's Libra on: June 20, 2019, 01:49:46 PM
Bitcoin's decentralized, Libra's centralized. That's the main difference.

It is said to be decentralized. If you are reading the post of Mark Zuckerberg, you would already know that. I don't even know what is happening with Mark's brain right now but I think this will fail.

Don't believe the liars. Use your brain.

Decentralized means fully independent miners with decision making by majority vote.

2990  Economy / Speculation / Re: John McAfee Says- If Bitcoin Breaks 100k you can bet it will break a million on: June 20, 2019, 01:43:06 PM
John McAfee, the future presidential candidate says that If Bitcoin Breaks 100k you can bet it will break a million.

What's your point of view on this, let me know!

A movement of 10x is what moves bitcoin from 10k to 100k, and from 100k to 1000k.

In the practical world there are limits based on money supply, liquid and illiquid, and total market capitalization.

If bitcoin was 1M, then you have increased the market capitalization to 17 trillion or so. But that does not mean that 17T has actually moved. The price swing is based on bidding up of the liquid bitcoins, those available for sale.

Suppose that fraction is 5 million coins, then 5 trillion must move for this to happen.

In our real and imperfect world, the practical limit to bitcoin price is likely based on mining fees. We saw how they moved when bitcoin went to 20K, fees got >30$ and >100$ USD for simple transactions.

If BTC Price > 100K, are the fees then 500USD?

If BTC price = 1M, are the fees for each transaction 5000USD?

You can believe whatever you want, that Atheists are statists or that Christian ideology is the only way to go, I don't really care, but when you post something that is simply not true, I will be here to correct you.

Having been to a number of large conventions of atheists I can assure you they are core leftists, something like 80-85% of them.

End of subject.

My opinion is that if you take out of someone's brain the religious content, you create a vacuum there, which they will rapidly fill with some other, usually worse garbage. Hence, they typically are big government statists.

There's also a possibility that various atheist organizations have been partly or completely hijacked by political operatives, such as has clearly happened with various feminist organizations and others. After all, a small well organized minority can easily hijack a large, diverse organization.

Over time, you'll hear a lot of really stupid things from atheists, no fewer than from religious individuals.
2992  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Who thinks we will get a drink from a robot bartender in the near future? on: June 19, 2019, 05:46:08 PM
I will then not go to a certain bar that only have A.I Bartender, what you will personal loved about having a drink with a "real" bartender is that you can request some drinks combinations plus you can talk to them about your problems or anything that you just want to share about your life in which a certain A.I won't be able to understand.

This is a good invention tho,

Have you ever thought that in the near future your drinks may be served by a topless beautiful hostess serving as empowered bartending unit? ....
I wonder how you think about this?
....

I can't wait for that to happen. For now I'll just order the sasha gray doll on amazon.

Not sure why but I think such an AI-bartendress would be totally cool. Not so certain about sexbots.

2993  Other / Politics & Society / Re: A world without borders? on: June 19, 2019, 02:26:57 PM
btw, if there are no state borders and there is world goverment, its a horrible system, cuz in this system you wont be able to get to another, less authoritarian jurisdiction (cuz there are no borders lol) from the world goverment's tyrany.
for example, the only country, which gave political refuge to edward snowdon was russia, if we would live in world without the borders, but with the world goverment snowdon would die

Okay, Russia gets to keep their borders. Places people are trying to MOVE OUT OF can keep their borders. Only places people want to MOVE INTO can't have borders.
2994  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Rebel groups does more harm than good on: June 19, 2019, 02:24:43 PM
Permit me to throw some light into this. The global world might to have not completely gotten aware of this.
There is a group of militant in Nigeria West Africa popular by the name MEND(movement for the emancipation of the  niger delta)
Niger delta is a very rich oil producing region in Nigeria and it's has become some sort of black gold region of Nigeria.

This group was created with the goal of rebeling against the illicit actions of the government in that area to promote the interest of citizens living around the area to benefit from there natural resources.

But over the years this has brought more harm than good in that area the introduction of the rebel groups has giving rise to other groups who has been notorious and terrorising the region(stealing, raping, vandalizing pipelines etc)
The nation has lost huge amount of money due to the action of this group over 4billion dollars in 2016.

Another so many other vices has been born like kidnapping, illegal fire arm peddling and so on

Nigeria government are quite corrupt in there practice and that's no doubt but rising a rebel group(who the member are notorious) has not done any good rather it has compounded the problems.
The best approach should be a dialogue

One warlord replaces another.

How is that different than the last thousand years in that area?

Liar. No it was not removed from the library.

The actual NASA photos are all available to anyone, one click away. The ONLY WAY guys like you can make your argument is to change those photos into grainy, blurred junk and THEN claim you are SEEING THINGS in the photos.

Please stop trying to shift the goals and move to a new issue each time one of your claims is refuted.

That's ridiculous. Now let's hear about your argument that the LEM was made of cardboard.

If Sagnac proves anything, it is an affirmation of general relativity, not a falsification of it.
2998  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Did we actually really land on moon? on: June 18, 2019, 08:58:58 PM
^^^ The Sun and Moon are both 32 minuets (nautical miles) across at an altitude of about 3100 miles as measured directly with a sextant.

Save your propaganda trash for somebody else, you can't measure distances or sizes based on apparent size. Not only that Aristarchus fucking assumes the heliocentric Copernican model with a giant Sun millions of miles away.

Angular measurements need to be done from the horizon like with a sextant.

I do not have any problem working this out from first principles, using no prior assumptions. So did Aristarchus. Copernicus wasn't alive in 300 BC. Also, there were no sextants at that time.

Why is it that I don't believe you have ever had a sextant in your hands?

^^^ If you're going to insist that the gods have magical powers and create things out of thin air, and the bible is magical fantasy or some shit then this is the end of this discussion.

Also there is no fucking outer space, we're covered by a steel dome surrounded by water.

You'll have to refute the basic math and geometric proofs of Aristarches, 310BC, to get any traction with those ideas. Be my guest.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On_the_Sizes_and_Distances_(Aristarchus)

I would suggest starting by learning the methods used to estimate the size and distance of the sun and moon, and trying them out yourself.
