When my bitcoins get low and I try sending some, I get this strange message about Selectcoin not working, followed by reassurance that it's probably not my fault (?). lol

My research and conversation with smart dudes has led me to the conclusion that selling hardware is much more important than growing the mining farm. This is not to say that mining is worthless in comparison, bit that it's profitability is very temporary.
We need to be much more keen on hardware sales than begging AM to get to 50TH, 200TH, 1000TH.
Furthermore, it can be argued that AM should abuse its dominant position to the point of rapid commoditization of mining equipment, because that is where things will end up. It is better for them to reap the rewards, than to wait for more players to enter the market.
They should then use their resources to transcend the mining hardware/farm market altogether. Ideally they would time this right at the tipping point of total commoditization, and get into a tertiary market like custom decryption for governments, or alternative ASIC designs for other purposes than bitcoin.
One thought that has come across my mind a few times is the possibility of AM making sales with fiat currency and that could lead to the possibility of being listed on a regulated stock exchange. He could open himself up to new investors and use the funds to dump back into development.. ?

Clean your room, get good grades, etc. Then maybe your Dad will cough up some money and you can buy your first Bitcoin on the Internet.

yeah, so still doesn't make any sense.
if a bot spams the forums, at least the spam will be isolated in the newbies forum and not all over the place. ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)

Why do people care about asicminer's solo mining hashrate? The pool hashrate was useful to estimate the payout, but with solo mining you can directly see the payouts. Now people are going to great lengths to estimate the solo mining hashrate from the payouts, what's the purpose? We are doing it to confuse you. Gotcha! Haha! We got him! Best prank ever... ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)

would be nice to get some updates from friedcat on the status of said equipment swap.. i know he's busy but it would sure help with some shareholder confidence right now
No, I think most here would rather he focus on hardware swaps than browsing bitcointalk answering posts from sweaty investors. touche! ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) In the stock market publicly traded companies talk to shareholders once or twice a quarter at most. We're lucky we get several communications a week ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) In addition, because they moved to solo mining , this may cause we did not get the actual hash rate..... so why does solo mining result in a lower hash rate?

So how does one buy a share?
btct.co
|
|
|
Why are people willing to pay over 2 BTC for a share? It seems to take more than a year to break even, but probably I'm missing something ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) if we knew the dividend would stay constant for a year, it could be seen as overvalued to some people, but as the bitcoin network grows, so does asicminer, as they want to hold a maximum per centage of its hash rate. share price goes up because of anticipation for ever increasing dividends. (i think). people are betting not just on current dividend yield but future growth which at this point seems inevitable.

sorry is this looking offensive in any way? i can delete this post..
Not at all. Just unconventional. It's like someone making a donation to a public figure like Steve Jobs or Warren Buffet. If you approve of their actions, and you'd like to acknowledge that by monetary incentives, consider paying it forward ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pay_it_forward). You can ask burnside or friedcat how they think that money should be spent. In this case, I think there is little money can do in order to provide support. i disagree... i think directly funding their operations would be more efficient to them and more immediate than buying shares. I don't expect to profit more from the support I'm giving, i just realize that they are experiencing delays of different sorts and would like to help. I fully understand my btc probably wouldn't do anything, but even it helps 0.00001% it will make me happy knowing that I am showing full support. I guess it is for my own satisfaction then in an indirect way, lol. if steve jobs was at the very beginning of something great and i was fully invested in him, damn right i would have donated ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)

People F5'ing for divs are probably a large part of the traffic
very true.. he should be able to see if thats the problem if the IPs of common users with shares match most of the IPs of the apparent DOS attacks, no? someone could write a program to see how many matches there are at any given time, to clarify if its either a DOS attack or just regular use.. (or maybe Cloudflare should implement this?) sorry for the multiple posts, i just remembered the edit function
