Its early days of dash mining still. all batches so far will be just fine. like mining bitcoin in 2013 i think. no need to worry so much. Cheesy

I think this is the right answer.  You could have BTC mined in 2012 at a terrible ROI and still be way ahead if you held onto it until now.  It might be a long wait but there's nothing to say you have to actually mine that entire time, just don't spend it.  I think maturity time is more like six months in this case, not six years, so that's not too bad if so.

Can I try out the Android app?

Devs: How about a secure sign up page?

$50 a year for the cert, it's worth it.  Lotta people will not create an account if they have to enter a password that they know will be transmitted un-encrypted.
304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Last chance to get some GEO before today's pump bump on: August 21, 2017, 08:08:29 PM
I was left with 90 credits bought for 65 or 53 including my earlier sell. I hope It will go beyond that price and I will sell rest of it Smiley

It'll bounce a little over the next hour.  You could probably sell most of the rest at 62, then hang onto a few just in case.
305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Last chance to get some GEO before today's pump bump on: August 21, 2017, 08:07:16 PM
Nice call greyworld. I only just saw this or I might have put some of Bittrex portfolio against GEO. I'm still holding a lot of XEL that I'd have been happy to convert to a moving coin. Also your advice for taking back initials is similar to what I read about "how to hold bags". Any chance you could share some of these tips again?

Thanks!

As for advice, hmm... Honestly, I should be asking other people for advice not the other way around.  But if I have learned anything so far, I think this is what's working out best for me so far:

Two main strategies for investing:

1) All your eggs in one (or few) baskets

2) A few eggs in many baskets.

Both have strengths and weaknesses, but I prefer #2.  Safer in the long run and gives you more options, every day just watch and see what's doing good, focus on that one.  What I like to do is find something that tends to violently spike every so often, buy in a dip, put in a sell of half of it for twice what I bought it for, and wait.  Might be waiting a while.  But when it hits, you covered your buy in and you still have half left for free.  If it doesn't spike that big, you can also say... buy 3, sell 2 at 150% buy cost and again end up with 1 free, etc.

Then, keep track of the ones you got for free and know that if you ever need to liquidate them for some other trade, you can do that at any time without concern for your purchase price.

Strategy #1's strengths are potentially bigger and faster gains.  Weaknesses are potentially bigger and faster losses.  And if you're under the buy in rate, you're tied up until it picks up, and you miss opportunities.

Strategy #2's downsides are higher transaction costs, slower return (but steadier), and sometimes it stings when one picks up and you think 'if only I had put all my eggs in *that* basket'.  But I'll take 'oww, I didn't make as much money as I could have' over 'OWWWW I LOST A WHOLE LOT'.  Steady return eventually turns into a bigger stack and lower return rates on that bigger stack are larger than higher return rates on a small, unstable investment.

Also, this is obvious but some people just ignore it: Research your buys.  Know about the investment before you put any money into it.  Know when important events are going to happen.  Know who the competitors are and what they're doing.  Listen to the haters, even if you don't agree with them.

That's pretty much the only info I have of value, anything else is speculation.

News is out!

Iphone / Android apps

Geomap box interface updated

In app driving directions to nearby GEO

Game-like features for harvesting GEO

Big dip, wow!  Good chance to buy some more?  I think I'd wait.  I think the market wanted to hear about big-fish partnership, nothing on that yet.

Party is over, too bad it didn't spike more but 60%+ isn't too shabby.  If you want to buy some more I'd wait at least a day and a half.
307  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Last chance to get some GEO before today's pump bump on: August 21, 2017, 06:45:28 PM
Thank you for nice explain Wink If the the price would drop to 65 again for example that would be good to buy some more, and sell again at peak.

NP.

If the price drops to 65 again I think the party is over.

If that happens, wait until late on 8/22 to buy after today's bump settles in a little.  Personally, I would spend no more than half of what you made in profits from today's trades.  Keep your risk low.

Probably there will be another big pump on 8/23.
308  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Geocoin and Facebook on: August 21, 2017, 06:37:35 PM
Seems sort of weird that Facebook would deal with any crypto company as opposed to creating their own. Imagine how quickly crypto would get adopted if Facebook were to make their own coin. Within a year everyone would be using it.

I think when they're out of their wheelhouse they prefer to buy up an existing entity and use that as a starting point.  Oculus Rift for example.
309  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Last chance to get some GEO before today's pump bump on: August 21, 2017, 06:31:48 PM
Roll Eyes I`m not that good in those calculations yet. Just begining. At what price you suggest to sell the rest? Should we really wait for 100?  Smiley

Here's how I do it:

Say you buy 100 at 65k.

Total buy in, 6,500,000 satoshi

Say you sold half those (50) at 77k

So now your total buy in is 6500k - 3850k = 2650

So your cost per, with 50 left, is 2650k / 50 = 53k

To find out how many you have to sell at what rate to break even, do this:

2650 / (how many of those 50 you'll sell) = Sell price

2650k / 30 = 88.3k

So if you sell 30 at 88k, 100% of your buy in is covered.

Leaves you with 20 GEO left that you didn't have to pay for.  I would be very reluctant to sell those at all, maybe just a little here or there if you notice a really nice spike.  Save some for 8/23!

310  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [GEO] GeoCoin | GIS & GeoTechnologies on: August 21, 2017, 06:24:21 PM
What could the news be?

Partnership with Pokemon Go / Ingress?  Play mobile game with real money at stake?

Partnership with Uber Eats for fast delivery incentive?

Partnership with Facebook for instant crowds on demand?

Things could be looking way, way up for GEO.  I hope they release an API soon, I'll put it in my Unity games immediately.
311  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Last chance to get some GEO before today's pump bump on: August 21, 2017, 06:15:30 PM
Cheesy

Sold half for 77  Grin like you adviced Wink

Cheers!

Now your remaining average buy price is 53k, not 65.

Suggestion:  You could sell 60% of what you have left at 88k - Then the remaining 40% (20% of original purchase) is 'free', and let that ride.  It's a very cautious approach (no actual realized profit yet) but I like to minimize risk.
312  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [GEO] GeoCoin | GIS & GeoTechnologies on: August 21, 2017, 05:56:39 PM
Spiked at 80k+ a few minutes ago.  That's up 60% from a few hours ago!  GEO is great, way to go devs.
313  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Last chance to get some GEO before today's pump bump on: August 21, 2017, 05:54:25 PM
90 is that you mean 0,0009 BTC?  Wink

NO!  90 BTC!!! TO THE MOON!

j/k.  Yes 90k satoshi.

Just spiked again, up to 80k this time.

HODL!
314  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Last chance to get some GEO before today's pump bump on: August 21, 2017, 05:14:03 PM
I just heard from the devs that it will be 'midday Pacific time, similar to last release.'  So I'd guess between 2 and 6 hours from now.
315  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Last chance to get some GEO before today's pump bump on: August 21, 2017, 05:03:38 PM
I missed it Sad I bought at 65K some time ago and should sold it now.

Nah, news isn't out yet, this is just some pre-pump activity.

Just hodl and wait, maybe set up some sells at 90 or so to cover your initial cost and then sit on the rest.  I think it'll easy spike over 100k as soon as devs post news.
316  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Geocoin and Facebook on: August 21, 2017, 04:59:16 PM
Roadmap news coming out tomorrow.

Is there a GEO site somewhere or is Twitter the only news source for it?

Fantastic.

I'm interested in how mining works with Geo.  Is the mining process basically wander around and pick it up?  Can you mine with a device at home?  Big parts of the geo site's are down so I'm a little unclear on the details.  Thanks
317  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: August 21, 2017, 04:18:39 PM
Can we get back on track...

Peoples plans on mining with the D3?

Straight for DASH ?

Use nicehash = auto payout to BTC?

Dash + hold for 500-600 + if we get there?

I just found out I'll be getting a D3 from someone incredibly kind (not Bitmain).  So I guess I have some skin in the game now, should be here in the Nov batch.

My plan is to mine the Dash and hold it until next year sometime.  Diff is going to go up by 20x-30x, I think Dash value will skyrocket.  Payout to BTC = leaving money on the table.
318  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Last chance to get some GEO before today's pump bump on: August 21, 2017, 04:01:57 PM
80 is basically in a couple of minutes.

Yeah, considering the news didn't even hit yet, I think the real pump hasn't even started.  Maybe I'll wait for 100k

GEO just made Bittrex's 'Biggest # gain of the day' slot, but it looks like it's neck and neck with Monero.
319  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Last chance to get some GEO before today's pump bump on: August 21, 2017, 03:53:19 PM
i will be happy with a 150%.  Roll Eyes

Congrads, I hope you held onto a little.

I might sell enough at 80 so the rest I'm holding was basically free and then let that ride.  This could blow up in a big way.
320  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Last chance to get some GEO before today's pump bump on: August 21, 2017, 03:41:46 PM
Up 30%+ in the last hour.

Still a good buy at anything under 80k imo.

News hasn't even hit yet.
