Its the biggest exchange it wouldn't make sense to off load a large amount anywhere else would it?

It wouldn't if you were able to withdraw funds from MtGox. Since it's not the case, as it has been widely reported, this might just freeze funds for an unknown amount of time.

Correct me if I'm wrong as I may be but they said at least a week ago that USD withdrawls have resumed and regardless you have always been able to take out in Euros and convert.

Someone picked up a bounty a few days ago for posting a screenshot of them having an approved withdrawal in USD from Mt Gox

They finally found someone? it was about time...

MtGox withdrawal issues are not a secret. Browse a bit around the forum for this, read comments on their Twitter & Facebook page... It might just be a huge conspiracy against Gox, or they might have some issues with liquidity. Either way, I don't think it's wise for a multi million company to take such a risk.
Now, they could of course try to withdraw in euro, hope it goes smoothly, and then convert in $ (losing a substantial amount of fees in the process) - or find an alternative (such as different markets http://bitcoincharts.com/charts/volumepie/, Bitcoin-OTC, etc.)
305  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Localbitcoins.com -- unusual request to sell -- Paranoid or Legit? on: July 21, 2013, 08:21:44 PM
Couple of weeks ago, we had fraudster(s) in UK targeting BitBargain and LocalBitcoin simultaneously with stolen bank account details, fake IDs, verified phone numbers, etc... If you fall for it, your bank account will be frozen, funds will be returned to the stolen bank account owner, and you will be suspected (criminally) of fraud.
On BitBargain,  I know most sellers would only trade high volumes with buyers who have a long history and good rating on the site, or on OTC. Otherwise it's just not safe.

We are about a week behind on the Avalon prototypes, due to us having to get some bitcoins converted.  I was dragging my feet due to the price of bitcoin being $68 at the time.  Everything is looking good for the end of August for the Avalon clones.  Looks like our 20,000 chips are going to be about two weeks late from what I have read.

@Κen - so all BTCs have now been converted to USD?

No, Working on it now.

Nice - thanks for the update

@ArcticWolf Thanks for confirming this.

I just checked on that, seems someone sold a whole bunch, down to 0.0025, then someone placed an ask at 0.00265 in the blink of an eye.

Yes, I saw that as well. And then someone bought 1 share @ ฿0.00274700 just so to pimp the graph...

Absolutely! Financially I'm sure it would have been best to read this in full before buying shares (as the pages went deeper, I was cashing out of ASIC and going more into ActM, by page 45 or so ,I was all in!) as it seems some 0.0025 shares may hit the market soon (I paid a tad over that). But I don't even care at this point, I wouldn't sell my shares for anything right now in hopes to make a few hundred share turn around! I'm going to keep on contributing and holding, and hope one day I can have the pleasure of telling people I was there from the beginning to slowly help do my part in the creation of one of the biggest Bitcoin companies ever!

Well, I m not sure... I think that already happened and were all sold. This said, I m a bit confused - Ken stated he would release them in small chunks.
So is that it? are there more to be sold? if so at what price?
311  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] The Official Active Mining Discussion Thread on: July 19, 2013, 06:14:08 PM
So.... is the wall going up or not?

Floates, you are a speculator. Ken can do whatever the heck he wants to benefit the company (and the long term shareholders).

Well I'm in for the long term but you need both types of traders.

However, even as a long term shareholder I feel this was a poor move. You should be keeping the market on side, especially after such a successful day.

Not going to get into it - but these shares absolutely should have been issued at .0025.

Not necessarily, but I think the increment of shares' price should have been disclosed beforehand.
312  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] The Official Active Mining Discussion Thread on: July 19, 2013, 05:49:47 PM
Looks like Ken is selling on BTCT @ 0.0028
313  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] The Official Active Mining Discussion Thread on: July 19, 2013, 05:04:33 PM
if you do another 500k @ .0025 it should be gone by end of day at the rate were going

Yes, but it would also piss some people off?

Maybe to sell 500k more he could spread something like 150k over 3x50k (0.28, 0.29, 0.3) on Bitfunder and 400k on BTCT (which has a lot more liquidity).

Not sure what others think, or if the range should be wider (0.28, 0.3, 0.32)?

I'm not sure there is a correct decision. Adding shares at all right now is not really ideal but I can understand.

Yeah but you cant make everyone happy.  People will be upset either way.  I think giving more people a chance  to purchase at the original offer price of the wall is more fair than say a 500k wall at .003 oe .0028

It would definitely piss off the shareholder who just sold >20.000 shares on BitFunder in the hope of getting them back @ 0.0025 lol
314  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] The Official Active Mining Discussion Thread on: July 19, 2013, 05:01:24 PM
Just did a quick adding up of our funds.  Converted @ 93.40 we have ~$890,000, so I am going to add 500,000 shares to the wall.  We need funds to cover the 40-60 machines we are building, to finish paying for our prototypes, finish paying for the engineering of the prototypes, and some for general operating expenses.  Also, we need some room just in case the price of bitcoins goes down.

Are you converting at 93.4 based on the Mt. Gox price? Prices are lower on other exchanges as people can actually get their money out in a in a reasonable amount of time. If you are planning on exchanging out on Gox, it may take a good while to actually get the $$$.

Yes, better not exchange on MtGox - it would seems that no one has been able to withdraw for quite some time now.

@kslaughter do you intend to reinforce BitFunder wall @ 0.00280?

No, due to the advice here.

OK, are you going to put chunks of shares on BTCT @ 0.0025, or are you going to increase the price as you did on BitFunder?

Yes, it will definitely hit 1 BTC. No doubt about it.

*shifty look* Wink

Haha 1 btc would give Active Mining a valuation higher than all the BTC in existance

+1

Tender Offer? What price?

1/1 - read third post of thread
319  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] The Official Active Mining Discussion Thread on: July 19, 2013, 02:44:31 PM
BTCT 2,535,892 + ActiveMining 6,176,329 = 8712221

so if I don't mistake 10,000,000-8,712,221=1,287,779 are left to be tendered from AMC
320  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] The Official Active Mining Discussion Thread on: July 19, 2013, 02:38:01 PM
We are getting close to the 10,000,000 share limit, so soon people will no longer be able to transfer AMC --> ActiveMining, correct?

Once ten million is hit, no more are released.  regardless, whoever is left on BTCT or Bitfunder, can still transfer up till the 31st

Not sure, it is stated that:

Quote
The cutoff time for dividends to be paid to shares tendered is 18:00 UTC on Wednesday of each week
If you expect dividends to be paid do not tender your shares after this time until the dividends are
paid for that week.  After the dividends are paid for the week you can then tender your shares.

This offer may be withdrawn at any time.  Any Tender Offers
not accepted will be returned with any accumulated dividends.

Tender Offers will be processed FIFO as fast as possible.

Tender Offer expires July 31, 2013
