PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

If you ever want to make the coins you have stashed more valuable, what you need to do is this:

When you earn your coins (let's say 5,000,000) save 1 million in a wallet. Sell 4 million to make money. Then spend the money from 2 million of those coins, to buy 1 million coins at 2x the price. Now your coins are more valuable Smiley

Please explain more how this works Smiley

Basically, you use the money you earn to buy out as many of the sell orders as you can and raise the value of the sell orders and the "last sold".

ie: then dump "bought" coins on market?= CIRCULAR TRADING..no?

No dumping, sell what you need. It's a charity coin, not a circular trade company.

i wanna sell /trade  all my coins as i earn them ! is that ok? lol

I believe payout is around 95600-96600 or something like that.

ok so i'm confirmed and so explain how do i get coins? >>>
304  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-06-11 Financial Times - US to Crack Down on Virtual Currency Tax Fraud on: June 11, 2013, 04:22:35 PM
It's a race. It was always a race. If we can reach critical mass before the crackdown we win and they'll have to adapt.

It's not a race.  The only thing governments can do is regulate the exchange of cyber currencies with fiat currencies.  As long as people are exchanging BTC directly for goods and services without involving USD (or EUR or whatever) then there's nothing government can do about it.

except hack your account!~just watch and they will have fun doing it ! ;)weeeeeee

308  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PPCoin Proof of Stake Minting Setup Guide on: June 11, 2013, 02:26:54 PM
PPCoin Proof of Stake Minting Setup Guide

One of the unique features of PPCoin is the concept of "Proof of Stake" which allows stakeholders (essentially anyone with PPC in their wallet) to generate "interest" on their reserves.  Since I could not find an easy to read guide I have written one myself so that you can start collecting "Proof of Stake" on your PPCoin balance as well!

Step One:

As with all Crypto Coins is to encrypt your wallet... so run the PPCoin-Qt go to the options menu and encrypt your wallet with a strong password.  DO NOT LOSE THE PASSWORD OR YOU LOSE ALL YOUR COINS... FOREVER!!!!  Sorry to be melodramatic but it's important!

Step Two:

Go to your %appdata% folder (usually something like C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming\PPCoin) and create a PPCoin.conf text file as follows.

Code:
#ppcoin.conf
# JSON-RPC options (for controlling a running ppcoind process)

#Server mode allows Qt to accept JSON-RPC commands
server=1

# You must set rpcuser and rpcpassword to secure the JSON-RPC api
rpcuser=<A username>
rpcpassword=<A random password>

#The reserve balance field is the minimum amount of coins you want to have available and NOT put up as stake.
#The reason for this is that if you are generating proof of stake you cannot spend those coins for 520 blocks.
#reservebalance=10000

Note that the username and password can be anything it doesn't matter (it is NOT your wallet password and you should not make it your wallet password for security reasons) so make it something long and obnoxious.

For more info on reservebalance check the FAQ -> https://github.com/ppcoin/ppcoin/wiki/FAQ

Step Three

Now run the PPCoin-Qt program and open your wallet.  Go to wherever PPCoin is installed:  Usually it's C:\Program Files (x86)\PPCoin\, in that folder you will see PPCoin-Qt.exe along with a daemon folder.  Within the "daemon" folder create a batch file called "mint.bat".

Code:
@echo off
@echo Enter PPC password...
SET /P variable=Password :
ppcoind walletpassphrase %variable% 9999999 true

This batch file will ask you for your wallet password and will unlock your wallet for minting purposes only, any transfers will still require your password to be initiated.  This must be run each time the client is restarted.

If you did everything correctly you can hover over the lock icon in the lower right corner and it will say "Wallet is encrypted and currently unlocked for block minting only".  In theory you could just have a shortcut or batch file with the password entered but then you'd have a shortcut that has your wallet password sitting in plaintext on your computer which is a terrible idea!

Step Four

Sit back and relax.

Once you have the client running and you are getting the "unlocked for block minting only" message over the lock you just sit back (for a long time) and let the interest accrue.

It will be approximately 1% per year on your PPC balance.  Note that it takes a while for freshly minted coins to mature so you will not see interest generated right away.

Extra Information:
The current release of the client will send coins without a password while in minting mode (this may be changed in a future update).

Proof of Stake Important Concepts
Coin-Age:  I receive 10 coins from Person X and hold them for 30 days, those particular coins have a combined coin age of 300 coin-days.
Generating A Coinstake:  Once minting is unlocked you can generate a coinstake which consumes your coin age in exchange for generating a block with profit.  The greater the coin age the higher probability that the proof of stake will be generated, if you are offline for a couple years for example when you reconnect you will probably generate a proof of stake almost immediately however you may have missed opportunities for compounding earlier.
Transferring coins to another person: Destroys all coin-age attached... only static coins gain age.

For detailed info please review the ppcoin whitepaper -> http://www.ppcoin.org/static/ppcoin-paper.pdf

311  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Gold Coin (GLD) Info Thread - The Future of Digital Currency *UPDATE Binaries on: June 11, 2013, 01:56:59 PM
Respect mate, it's really nice to see someone taking an active approach of supporting one coin. People usually think the active support is posting "this coin to the moon, this coin is great, blabla" stuff but you really stood up and took some action.

A youtube video, doesn't make it valuable, its useless propoganda. You should give it value, first, and then promote it

Thank you for your comments.

I'm trying to get more people interested in the coin, in conjunction with increasing network hashrate, in conjunction with bringing the community together. I have outlined previously an entire list of areas where I'm working.

It is a combination of these efforts what will hopefully increase value.

No, creating services that accept GLD, is the only thing that will add value. Having Gold in the name, is not enough. Add value to it, and the miners will come on their own. People are greedy. They want $$, not happy thoughts and togetherness.

There is no point creating services to accept the coin until it is stable. IMO.

And the coin will never stabalize, until services accept it. Viscious cycle. Something as simple, as a market place, like bitmit. The value of GLD is so low, because the block reward is so high. A lack of foresite, by the developer. GLD is dead. All the money you are putting into it, is a complete waste. The sad truth? For people to mine it, it has to get into and remain in the top 3 on a site like coinchoose.
Soon, very soon, it will be up there.

Based on what? No one wants your shitty coin, deal with it.

i LOVE kewL aid but i'm over GLD~~cuz'n over an hour picking away and NO SHARES!!!=  BRING ON THE SILVER COIN!!! ;)WEEEEEE

Hmm, I can see you do not have any shares, which is strange because pool difficulty is much less then  network difficulty.

For example the network difficulty for GLD is 481k in CgMiner display (7.341 as expressed in scrypt difficulty). The pool difficulty is 64(Cgminer)  or around .0009 (scrypt)

If you were not getting any share on this pool, you will not get any shares on any scrypt pool.

I wish you the best of luck in your future ventures, but double check your miner configuration to make sure it is set up correctly for scrypt mining.  Smiley

ya it says "shares accepted" on my miner yet your pool site doesnt even show paid shares!~or unpaid for that matter!!!>>

Your Hashrate
0 KH/s
Unpaid Shares
Your Valid   0

ALL NIGHT = NOTHING!!! grrrrrr WTF!!!

314  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which countries have the friendliest bitcoin regulatory environment? on: June 11, 2013, 05:19:41 AM
I think the best countries are those in the Northern and Eastern Europe.   They seems to be able to accept Bitcoins far more readily than those of USA.

~ya thats where the quality drugs are coming from? 8)LOL

Like the topic title asks which countries do people think have the most lax or inviting bitcoin related legal frame work, that could be used as a stepping stone for bitcoin businesses.?

SOUTH CENTRAL LOS ANGELES >>SWEDEN >> SANFRANCISCO>>DUBAI>>TORONTO>>COSTA RICA>>DENVER CO....hmmmm>>CAYMAN ISLANDS LOL!
317  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin a form of gambling? on: June 11, 2013, 04:52:03 AM
It's not gambling because you can simply calculate the outcome yourself. There is no chance or gambling or betting or luck factor involved whatsoever. Completely different from slot machines in casinos.

But it's the actual calculation you're paying electricity for.

And what is legal or illegal in the U.S. doesn't matter, because Bitcoin is not related to the U.S. in any way. It would be just as relevant as asking if it's illegal in Iran or North Korea. It might be, but nobody cares Smiley

lets give ALL the crytos to OPEC ...no? hehe
318  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin a form of gambling? on: June 11, 2013, 04:49:12 AM
In traditional slots you pay a coin, and if a certain sequence comes up, you get some winnings.  I think everyone will agree that's a form of gambling.

In bitcoin, to create coins, you pay some electricity, and if a sequence of 0's comes up, you win some bitcoins.

Is this aspect a form of gambling?

And if so, is that illegal in the U.S.?

no it's problem solving ~ gambling with nu-coins thats a diff story!~imho
