Hi Barntech, The blank boards option for $50, does that include all surface mount chips and components (minus the bitfury chips) I'm skilled enough to make some myself. Would you include a component/construction guide to aid in component placement. Would you also sell a solder paste stencil?
The blank board option as it stands is just the board, and yes it come with a parts list and construction guide. Depending on how things go, we might be able to offer a little packs containing all the parts you will need, but currently you would have to source those yourself. Will keep you updated on whether this is going to be an option. Cheers

So this means if I just buy one 8 chip board that I wouldn't get a mini plane board, correct?
Correct. You wouldn't need it if you only had one board.

With regards to daisy chaining the drillbit system, how does that work? You can chain 4 boards together, presumably with spacers? If you want more, you need a backplane? A regular SATA backplane? Aren't they only 5 or 6 slots to a board?
See the photo on the main page for the 4 stack Miniplane. It is a custom card that comes free with the purchase of two or more boards made for stacking 4 cards together. For larger stacks, we are looking at either a 16 stack plane, or a 4 stack Megaplane that takes 4 fully stacked Miniplanes to bring you to a total of 16. Currently favoring the later option. I must have missed this. I'll order more if this comes to fruition. Yes, new design features. Did you see the Miniplane photo?

Just curious...once we get through this group buy of chips and assembly, what are your plans? Do you guys plan to keep chips/boards/assembled boards, etc in stock or will you continue with the group buy model?
If we get through the group buy quick enough and it seems viable that we might be able to fill a second reel before October delivery, then we will open round 2. If not, by the end of this assembly run we will have some miners in stock for sale; for higher prices because they will be in hand and ready to ship. From there it will really depend on the climate of Bitcoin at that time, we may continue to pursue Bitfury, or will perhaps by then be moving towards a new board for a new chip, if we can get our hands on one early enough.

If we purchase chips is there a max amount of time you will hold em until we order boards or boards/install ?
If you buy chips, the chips are yours. Once we get closer to manufacture i will ask everyone who has bought only chips what they want done about assembly. You will then need to pay for assembly, or i can just ship you your chips.

Not necessary, but doesn't hurt just in terms of keeping track of everything. Cheers

I'm considering to place an order for few hundred chips by the end of this week (hope it still be available). Price is still same USD 25 per chip. When chips can be shipped, any idea? On front page you wrote about escrow is it still an option for chips at least.
Hey Pinwheel, Are you interested in plain chips, or assembly also? By all means, grab a few hundred. The price is the same for all the chips. We have been told early October delivery on the chips. Assembly will be a couple weeks from when get the chips. We are not doing escrow on this one, mostly to have quick easy access to the money when we need it for the chips. I have been verifed by John K https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=266235.msg2917573#msg2917573 and we accept paypal payments as an extra security blanket. We're not going to run away with your money. Also, happy to have a chat on the phone if you like, PM me for my phone number. Cheers Barntech

That's great. Will you release a cooling system with it so to be like pre-built OC? So maybe before shipment we could choose and pay for extra for the cooling system pre-built in it? Does this group buy need to clear all the chips before completing? Or it will be delivered anyway in late Oct? I will pbb buy soon will there be any updates soon? Yes we're looking into providing cooling as an optional extra, either in the form of a heatsink or a case with fans built in. See where we get to on this. Priority first is to get the boards happening, and then we'll look at the other bits and pieces. Regarding clearing all the chips, i have asnswered this one a few times now, though i know the thread is a bit long and tedious to read through. I'm gonna build an FAQ section on the front page to deal with things like this. So the answer is, if there are few enough chips left that we can afford to buy the rest out once october rolls around, then we will. My rough guess was 500. Lets see how we're looking as we get closer. Cheers Barntech Will the boards have thermal vias to transfer heat to the other side? Much like the klondike avalon based board? You could easily bolt on your own heatsink then. Yes this is the design. You will always have the option to bolt on a heatsink, but we may also offer it as a bundled option.

Hi Barntech, To calculate BTC required: Multiply the number of chips desired by $25 (cost=chips*US$25) to arrive at the $US dollar amount. Then times this amount but the current exchange rate (currently 1BTC = US$104). I want to order chips with BTC. Today MTgox exchange rate is $120/btc. So, to calculate btc amount which exchange rate should I use ? Regards libertybuck Hey. Yes, sorry, i've been busy and haven't updated. Go with US $120 for the exchange rate. I'll go change that now. Cheers Barntech Have you considered opening up a merchant account on bitpay.com? I opened one recently and it's reasonably painless. Does on the spot BTC/USD calc and can pay you automatically in AUD. Yes considered it. The 1% fee is the main turn off, though i may still end up going with it for conveniece. I had the MTGOX pay button up for a while but there's a few things about how it works that i don't like, like not giving you bitcoin transaction information. Maybe bitpay is the way. For now i'll just try to keep up with fluctuations. Also, genreally steering clear of AUD for now because the chip purchase will be in USD. Cheers

I have sent payment (in bitcoin) for 16 chips on 2 boards, with assembly, to the address listed for this group buy, and sent email with my shipping and transaction details to drillbitsystem@gmail.com. Please confirm, Barntech. Cheers~ I'm in the states, so I'm hoping these can be shipped with whatever documentation might be required to get them through customs. Can you comment on that? Got your payment Todamont. Shouldn't be a problem getting through customs. They will be marked as computer equipment. Cheers
