301  Other / Meta / Re: What exactly are the rules of the forum and where do I find them ? on: May 31, 2014, 09:07:55 AM
That's too bad (that there is no central source). I was looking around here trying to figure out the policy on thread bumping -- no luck -- and was hoping there would be something like that.
302  Other / Meta / Re: Should bitcointalk account trading be banned? on: May 31, 2014, 09:01:35 AM
If you guys haven't already noticed, a lot of sour things happen on this forum that shouldn't be allowed. I've been here long enough to see how this forum as evolved since the earlier days. For example, before there was the whole trust system, there was the scammer tags. The worst that happened to a known scammer, was just a tag. They are not banned, and mods do absolutely nothing about it.

So with that being said, if scammers are allowed to roam freely here, what makes you think mods will spend the time to chase accounts that were possibly traded? And if the accounts were traded to use as a scam, it's not like the scammer would be banned anyways. If a scammer isn't banned after he committed the scam, why would he be banned before a possible scam from the account trade? I'm not saying I support account trading (actually heavily against it), but just don't see this ever being enforced.

Btw, I haven't seen a single thread for the sales of a forum account. Maybe I'm not in the right areas. Link to a few examples?

I agree. No way this would ever be enforced on bitcointalk. Caveat emptor is the name of the game here. (And if you don't know, now ya know Tongue)

The digital goods forum has some threads where accounts are being bought and sold: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=93.0
303  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Which Bitcoin Exchange do you use and why ? on: May 31, 2014, 08:58:05 AM
I use Kraken, because I can. Meaning: I only trade w/ around 1 BTC at a time, and a feel like a huge whale at Kraken. Hopefully, more people will start trading there and volume will increase, but for my 1 BTC, it seems okay. Smiley
304  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Getting paid for signature space? on: May 31, 2014, 08:56:45 AM
I'm feeling good with PrimeDice, maybe it hasn't the best rates but the "dev" is well known and trusted by a large amount of positive feedbacks.

It might not be the highest paid deal currently but it was for a long time and hopefully will be again soon. I respect Stunna more than any other sig operator here, plus I never have to worry about getting paid at the end of the month as I've never ever had an issue or problem with him so far. To me that reassurance is worth a lot.
I agree, there is a couple of signature campaigns that did not pay out, it is the best to choose one that you trust most. In this case, I also trust Stunna's signature campaign.

Yes, Stunna is definitely the most trustworthy -- he's been part of the community for a long time now. I saw that UpDown.bt was paying out and decided to take a shot. I've received one weekly payment so far, more or less on time. Cheesy
305  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to safely store bitcoins? on: May 26, 2014, 08:57:08 PM
The safest way to store bitcoins is using "cold storage" -- storing them on a type of media that does not connect to the internet. So, a CDR, flash drive, paper wallet, USB, etc. Here is some good information:

307  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can my Bitcoin be stolen on: May 26, 2014, 08:48:47 PM
Bitcoin can be stolen, sure. Lots of malware these days. Also, be careful with 3rd party wallets, exchanges etc -- basically, any other entity that controls your coins. If they have your private keys, it means you don't have control over your bitcoins. And then.....poof! Undecided
308  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sell now? on: May 26, 2014, 08:00:46 PM
..some of the innovations in coins like ....[snip] .... can't necessarily be coded into BTC if only because of monolithic/centralized nature of the bitcoin devs and the foundation. so there may be value there.
Just because you say so? Prove it.

Well that's not really something that you can prove or disprove. But I do agree that there is a lot of centralization around the development of BTC protocol, the Bitcoin Foundation has shown it will bow to government authority. So thought experiment: How would we go about having the bitcoin protocol adopt a tumbling blockchain, or other anonymizing features?
309  Economy / Speculation / Re: 5 digits before the end of the year. on: May 25, 2014, 04:34:23 AM
I think we are definitely going to maintain bitcoin's long term history of..... UP......but I think 5 figures is pretty optimistic, just thinking about the last bubble and the way it fizzled out after only what, less than 5x the previous ATH? I wonder if the next bubble will be bigger than that....
310  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Foundation-fraudsters, pedophiles, murderers ,fat fucks and scammers on: May 25, 2014, 04:32:21 AM
To be honest, the Bitcoin Foundation is a huge black eye for bitcoin, and I get the impression that it, and insiders connected to it, have far too much control over the protocol. Open source or not, core devs do not answer to you and they may answer to others. I, for one, think there is too much centralization around bitcoin's development.
311  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 25, 2014, 04:28:57 AM
Money is finally hitting the exchanges. This could get nuts..

Money hitting exchanges on weekend? And on 5k volume?

Yes, I dont think money would be hitting exchanges on Saturday/Sunday, and it is not huge volume either. Seems like people on the sidelines getting ancy.... could still see a rally but I think this is pretty big resistance right here....
312  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Price Surging Back Up - Are You Buying or Selling? on: May 25, 2014, 04:26:30 AM
Ive sold some at this current level (540~) because it is such a big resistance (the last major top 548$ and the 547$ recent spike), but I may come to regret that, LOL. Hoping that if I am wrong that were going down now, we will eventually go back down... still have some more to sell higher.
313  Economy / Economics / Re: Anyone Think Bitstamp is Insolvent? Possible BTC Price Drop Incoming? on: May 25, 2014, 04:23:46 AM
Bitstamp leads the western exchanges, so if any news like that broke, price would definitely go down imo. Dont Bitpay and Coinbase use Bitstamp sometimes? Some merchants too possibly. And I think Bitstamp inherited the "face of bitcoin" role from Gox, so theres that too. But after the darkest day comes the light, LOL.

pulled or eaten?

Unless Wisdom is lagging behind (and that could be) it looks like it was pulled. But sometimes the numbers get fudged on big moves
316  Economy / Services / Re: WE PAY FOR SIGNATURE EVEN MORE. UP TO 0.0016 BTCs PER POST. WEEKLY PAYOUTS. on: May 22, 2014, 11:59:09 PM
Now ranlo, we all know that 100 posts a day is a bit too much.  There is a very small chance that you actually posted (in some topics) there to add an opinion... I'm guessing some of your posts you posted entirely (or mainly) for the monies.  I have done that too, a long time ago... But I don't think that's fair for everyone else, especially the one who's paying you.

The fact is that it is updown.bt's prerogative to put a cap on the number of posts. That cap sits at 3000 posts per month, or roughly 100 posts a day. Again I have no interest in attacking others, especially when they are doing nothing wrong.
317  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 22, 2014, 10:36:24 PM
When do you guys think the first sell-off will be?
Will it crash from 600-400 then back up? 800-600? 1000-400? Previous ATH?

How do we agree on a previous ATH when the price was different on all the exchanges plus mtgox is gone? There was about a 1-day period at virwox where you could have sold 1btc for 300,000 SLL and sold those for $1320. So did virwox have the highest ATH at $1320? or do we go by bitstamp or mtgox or huobi ATH?

When comparing the "point of maximum financial risk" chart with a standard bubble chart, do we overlap the risk chart twice? Going through all the risk emotions quickly during the first sell off? So we should hit a brief euphoria phase near the top of the first sell off?

I believe we will continue going through these bubble fractals until the public phase reaches final saturation. In the previous bubbles, each time we reach the public phase it doesn't absorb everyone so there is room left over for more bubbles. Bitcoin won't stop making bubbles until we've blown them in everyone's faces.

There are sell-offs all the time. You mean, how far will we get before we see the first major retracement, right?

My guess is ~620.

If I as the "uber Bull" have been quiet today it is because BitchicksHusband informed me just this morning that he had to "sell off" BTC2 yesterday to pay some bills (partially because of Kings playoff tickets and his monthly payment for his new car ).  I said, "Right during a rally!!?"  I would have rather left some balance on our credit card and kept the coins!  Don't come between a Chick and her coin stash!!!  Angry

But that said, some of us are not planning on selling off until much later than $620!  If I had my way, I would just wait until $100,000 per coin.  Grin

We're talking different time frames.

I'm sure you know by now it never goes up in a straight line. ~620 is simply my bet when we'll see the first large enough profit taking to make us take a step back and catch our breath.

Oda,

I spent an hour last night mapping out all the major resistance levels from here to 1000. 620 was not on my list.

Why is that number significant to you?

It is significant to me because it was a pivot point 3 times on the daily chart during March and April. So I think there is resistance there:

It looks like the bulls are back. Kind of low volume, but some seem eager to take out that wall around 530. Wonder if it will get eaten.... or pulled
319  Economy / Services / Re: WE PAY FOR SIGNATURE MORE. UP TO 0.0014 BTCs PER POST. WEEKLY PAYOUTS. on: May 22, 2014, 09:50:21 PM
I wonder why UpDown.bt wont BAN Ranlo after this ? It'll be highly unjustified if he takes action against any Member/Full Member in coming days and Ranlo remains free to roam around, just because he is a Sr. Member.

Why do you keep posting in bold? Why does it look like you created a gimmick account just to attack Ranlo? And why does it matter about 3 posts over 3 months that probably were posted before he was even on the signature campaign?

I am not "licking anyones legs"  Tongue

But I would prefer that in this market we do not attack each other, and leave the policing to those that are running the signature campaigns! (ie updown.bt)

Are u blind ? I'm not angry at u, but sympathising u in this 'market'. How did u miss something that I mentioned in 20pt size along with bold ? I'm rephrasing it for u... if that makes it easier for u to understand...

Ranlo wanted this campaign to be open for only Hero/Sr. members. He wanted to take up the job to enlist people who 'SPAM' !!! U know what it means when a spammer gets the stick to decide who is spammer ? It becomes blackmailing. Cant u see his PMing attitude ? When he gets the stick, he'll PM u & me to get his cut to stay in the campaign. Little babies know little about the market and Big brothers take that advantage to dominate. Cant u see, just when Ranlo is in problem, another Big brother has jumped in for his saviour ? I joined this forum before these lurkers, though I'm a member (not this profile) now because of low activity count. Well I'm NOT a 'Solid Poster'... U know, within seconds the another 'trusted' big brother can turn me red for pointing finger at them with no scam attempt ? Anyways, in a nutshell...

U said "leave the policing to those that are running the signature campaigns! (ie updown.bt)" ...I like it. But Ranlo does not. He likes to SPAM himself and BAN others. So I dont like Ranlo. SIMPLE !!!

Giving suggestions to updown.bt about how to run the campaign is very different than you coming in here with a gimmick account to repeatedly attack someone.
320  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what is escrow? on: May 22, 2014, 09:42:35 PM
i here people say they will trade with escrow and so on but not sure what it means?

i am new to the forum sorry if its stupid question Cheesy

https://www.google.com/search?q=definition+escrow&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&channel=sb

Basically a third party holds one party's assets until that party has confirmed receipt of payment.

So Party A sends to escrow. Party B sends to Party A. Party A approves release of escrow. Escrow sends to Party B.
