301  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: February 11, 2018, 03:07:03 AM
If this dragon is real, difficulty will skyrocket further, no new btc miners will break even unless btc rises alot like last year...which is unlikely. And if that were to happen, it is far more profitable to just buy btc. Asic manufacturers will not be able to sell new units either. It looks like bitmain is getting out of mining too by dumping old v9 units? I think they are old units. No sense in manufacturing new S7 chips right?

I don't know how familiar you are with the price history of BTC, but it is very likely the price is going to rise again. You may want
to invest now while it's still low. Asic manufacturers still have time to have some tricks up their sleeves, as long as they can
make usable  products people can purchase. If a company like Pangolinminer can squeeze every last bit out of 28nm tech,
imagine what other companies, like bitmain, can do to turn a profit out of newer, more efficient tech. And, with the restrictions
some countries are putting on corporate mining farms, the "end of days" is still quite far away. One thing this thread does, is
show a company that may have a more efficient miner, or at very least show there is an opportunity for it in the future.

I definitely bought the dip this last time Smiley I had some limit buys for 5500 as well if it went lower. Was going to sell organs Smiley

My trading profit has 100% funded my mining endeavors.

To stay on topic, I do hope these are real for all the people's sake who have pre-paid. I am also confident Bitmain is preparing a new/updated/enhanced model as well.
302  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: February 11, 2018, 02:57:20 AM
My little trio of ASICs are working away every day oblivious of all the difficulty gloom and doom. BTC price is down, as we all know, but I have my electricity easily covered and I get .01 BTC every 2-3 days. I have a few more miners on the way and will happily run them too.

While difficulty is important, as long as you're not stupid with your purchasing money mining is fine. All the "OMG IT'S OVER" talk makes me laugh.

303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: unexplainable slower hash rate on: February 11, 2018, 12:40:01 AM
By what the miner says, the pools graphs also indicate the same decline, only difference i have in my room is that i plug in two monitors, but that should not make a difference and if it did it would degrade the performance, not improve it

Thank you for moving the topic

Only way to tell is to plug that 2nd monitor in when it's in the other room Smiley
304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: unexplainable slower hash rate on: February 10, 2018, 06:29:24 PM
This has been bugging my mind a lot, am not usually one to seek for help but i ran out of ideas.
Currently am mining zcash with a 1080 gtx using  EWBF's Zcash CUDA miner. 0.3.4b.
Problem is when the computer is in my bedroom it mines 600-620 sol/s, but when i go to sleep i move the computer to another room and the speed drops to 520-540 sol/s for no apparent reason,
the OC is the same,
internet cable are the same cat6e connected to the same switch,
same energy cable,
gpu-z clocks are stable
reinstalled drivers (390.77)
settings are max performance on nvidia same on power plan on windows 10
I even tried using onboard gpu to display to monitor, same effect

Temps while i am in my room never surpass 62ºC, while on the another room they don't even surpass 55ºC

Any suggestion?

You're in the wrong forum, but like the other gentleman asked are you going by pool stats or ?? If you're going by pool stats then the time you're down moving between rooms and getting set up might be affecting the calculation.
305  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: New Mining Shed Set up and Questions (Pics) on: February 09, 2018, 03:24:42 AM
It's hard to tell from the pictures the shape of the shed, but if possible I would pull the air across the miners, not up and out.

Essentially one wall has your filters, in a much larger opening than 24x24 and then one wall has your exhaust fans. I'd use 3 of something like this http://amzn.to/2siRS5g with the miner's exhaust pointing at the exhaust fans. That way you're drawing in cool air in to and over the miners and sucking it right out of the room.

Here's the idea, keep in mind that the people who recommended the fans only went by cu/ft of the room and not the massive heaters you're running in there. Tell them you're putting in roughly 30 5,000 BTU machines that kick out over 200 CFM each. That'll put a look on their face...

306  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Launches the New Antminer T9 Bitcoin Miner on: February 08, 2018, 08:44:48 PM
Maybe the t9+ casing is the same as the upcoming s11? That would make a lot of sense as to why they did this overhaul. This could be a transitionary unit into the newer models. I am liking them so far. Running 4 right now two more come Friday.

T9+ case appears to be just like the A3, interesting observation.
307  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer T9+ Problem I beg you to help. on: February 08, 2018, 08:43:03 PM
Thank you for all your help.

I did indeed f*ck up the firmware update, but after it did not reconnect for around 1 hour, I got worried, and I started looking at solutions.
What I failed to realise is that I have a T9+ model and the firmware was only for t9 model.

I have contacted bitmain support asking them for a solution, either releasing the firmware, or sending it to me.
If it will be send to me, I will upload it to the forum, for anyother retarded people like me.

Thank you for all your help.

Sorry if that came across as rude, but people need to SLOW DOWN and read. This forum has so much information, but folks come hear and ignore it and make the same mistakes over and over.
308  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Just recieved newest batch of T9+ connected OK, now can't find IP on: February 08, 2018, 08:41:16 PM
It might be worth it to build in some DHCP reservations using the miner's MAC addresses.

OR

Manually IP the miners, just make sure you do not use any part of your DHCP scope.
309  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: burnt pcb connector on antminer on: February 08, 2018, 08:35:46 PM
Replacing the connectors is worth a try for sure, removing them and replacing them is not difficult with the right equipment. Are you in Alabama? I gather from your username that you are an Alabama fan. If so, I may be close to you and will be glad to help you replace the connectors. I am in the Montgomery area.

Yes sir. Live in Tuscaloosa. Also routinely in the Birmingham area on weekdays.
I believe I read two options. Solder wire directly to that pin in PCB connector. Which I could probably manage.
But I'd rather have it fixed the right way with replacing. I've read getting the old connector to de-solder is difficult for a novice due to the pins pulling the heat away.
So the right fix for this may be out of my scope of practice.

310  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer T9+ Problem I beg you to help. on: February 08, 2018, 03:33:38 AM
I have tried all 3 resets described on that page. Nothing worked so far.
While the ip report does give me the starting wokers and pools from antminer te problem does not go away nor does the firmware

Like mentioned factory reset doesn't flash the firmware back. You need to contact Bitmain.

I really, really, really, wish people would stop kneejerk firmware flashing...

312  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Getting SMOS to recognize GPU1 and GPU2 on: February 06, 2018, 05:27:17 AM
Hey everybody,

This is my first post, so go easy on me:

Just set up my first miner using SMOS as my operating system and zen.suprnova as my mining pool. I'm running into an issue where SMOS sees my 3 GPUs (one 1080TI and two 1060s). However, it only seems to want to use the 1080TI to mine. Because it recognizes all 3 cards and displays them to me on the console, I am inclined to believe this is a software error instead of a hardware error.

Here are my hardware specs:

Asus H110M-A motherboard
Intel Celeron G3939 processor
1 DIMM of 8GB RAM
EVGA 750 Watt Gold PSU

3 riser cards -- each connected to their own SATA connector and GPU

1 1080 TI
2 1060s

Each card is connected to its own 12V port in the PSU with the 1080 TI using 2 8-pin power connectors.

Here are the images I'm receiving from both the SMOS console and the SMOS GUI when I boot up:

...okay, that's f*%&ing obnoxious. This forum doesn't allow me to upload photos from my PC?? Awesome!!

So instead, allow me to manually type everything on my SMOS console's (miner's) screen **rolls eyes**

This link is good https://btc.com/stats/diff

they have a 11-12% jump

Here is a manual calculation below

507,862......2018-02-05 17:43:33   current block

506,016......2018-01-25 01:48:20   last jump

1,846 blocks    in   11 days and 16 hours

11 x 144 = 1584

16 x 6    =     96

so 1680 = 0%

1846/1680 =  1.098809 - 1.000  = 9.8809%  jump right now

better ways to think of it are

the s-9   does 13000 gh at 1400 watts  if you pay 13 cent power

it earns  8.80  and you spend 4.03  in power   that is a 4.77 a day profit for it.  so 500 days for break even

WOW...500 days ROI. assuming no more large jumps in diff.   ( inevitable )

We really need to see 20 - 30 TH miners at reasonable power consumption.

Who the F mines at 0.13 kw/hr... Jesus, some of you guys like jacking with the numbers to try to make your perception everyone else's reality...

I mine and make a lot at 13 cents  been doing it for years. in fact I am not even 13 cents all year long  my summer rates are 16.7 plus some extra ac mmaybe 1 cent.

and I do not mine 1 s-9 and 1 six card gpu rig.  I do 3kwatt to 8 kwatts

the rest is in 50-50 deals  with a solar array and an office complex. =  these deals save me  in times like this.

So other then huge bull runs I deal with 30 to 60% power cost all the time.

So  while a big  guy may do five cents or less.  The last  3 months  have brought in a ton of people at  10 13 20 even 30 cents or more

These people have zero idea of what to do right now.

And  if you note  that I get hundreds of pms  from small miners I know whom I am talking to.

Not the 1000 plus s-9  miner

or the 1000 plus six card rig  miner.

I have zero care for them.

I actually  want things to get bad enough  for them to shut down and flood the market with gear.

Since my office deal and my solar deal  will still allow me to mine  never exceeding a 50% power cost.

yeah the 3-8 kwatts at home may become a loser  but that works for me.  since the solar and office deal are big enough to cover me.

Phil, I would argue you are an anomaly, you offset your costs with hardware sales and other activities of an established respected forum member.
314  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Difficulty increase Feb 2018? on: February 06, 2018, 04:41:59 AM
Well, buying bitcoin is a one time transaction with no additional costs even it bitcoin doesn't go up. Mining has a daily cost even if bitcoin doesn't go up. So the more secure thing to do would be to buy and not mine for now.

I would say it's more important now than ever to push for more mining decentralization.

I would argue; mining **supplier* decentralization.
315  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I'm a little surprised the Network Hash Rate isn't Lower on: February 06, 2018, 04:04:18 AM
Maybe those idiots on eBay that paid 5-6k for an S9 back in December/January will be selling them for $1400?

That is **exactly** the equivalent to the plebs that bought at $19k and sold at $11k...  Smiley
316  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I'm a little surprised the Network Hash Rate isn't Lower on: February 06, 2018, 03:40:26 AM
I kinda thought bandwagon, too.  Crikey.  20% increase since this thread started 6 hours ago.  That's something like 300,000 S9s.  Anybody notice the lights flickering?

There's a certain amount of inertia that will have to be overcome. Bitmain certainly is not slowing down shipping. They are clearing the shelves as fast as possible.
317  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I'm a little surprised the Network Hash Rate isn't Lower on: February 06, 2018, 03:29:59 AM
Just like the herd started buying BTC in November, everybody and their brother decided they were gonna mine to make magic free money. Well, just as the dip is shaking out the herd investors, it will shake out the people who thought they could park an S9 in their office...

319  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Difficulty increase Feb 2018? on: February 06, 2018, 03:13:34 AM
Mining is all about making a profit after paying all other costs. If your expenses exceed your return on a monthly basis, how is that more secure long term? If I have to pay $500 every month in electricity costs until bitcoin becomes profitable again, how is that more secure? This downturn could last 2 years.

Um OK? That downturn affects both mining AND speculation. You can't win at speculating if it doesn't go up... I dare you to go play in this chop and produce any sort of reliable income. I never said I do not do both, I made a hefty buy earlier today and am fast approaching another. But again, without an upswing all I did was take some capital out of play...
320  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Difficulty increase Feb 2018? on: February 06, 2018, 02:46:27 AM
Yep, it's better to buy cryptos now than to mine it.

As we are all getting a haircut? BTC and alts are hurty at the moment. Speculation has always been one method, but I'd argue you'd be way more secure long term in mining.
