Yes but when you install bitcoin on a fresh computer, shouldn't it create a new wallet.dat file?
No, only when you have run the program. Ok, so when bitcoin is running, shouldn't wallet.dat be in the same directory as wallet.h and wallet.cpp?

I don't understand where the wallet.dat file is. All I see is a wallet.cpp and wallet.h. How can I copy/encrypt/delete wallet.dat?
See https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Data_directoryWallet.dat contains your personal keys and transactions - it is created and maintained by the program, not packaged with it. wallet.cpp and wallet.h are source files for the program that manage the wallet. Yes but when you install bitcoin on a fresh computer, shouldn't it create a new wallet.dat file?

My 5830 went from 304mh/s to 307mh/s. Small increase, but why not? ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

My new mining rig - 11.7 using - crashes even when nto mining after half an hour.
Before trying to downgrade - anyone can point me to the best version for trying getting 11.7 stable? I hear there is a preview and a bbeta, but have no idea which one is better.
Thanks
It's not stable yet. Get 11.6 and see if you're having issues with that.

Uninstalled and reinstalled CCC 11.7. Works now. Seems like openCL was having an issue.

Using Trixx or MSI afterburner, are there any risks that could void a warranty? Any way for a GPU mfg to check the previous settings or anything on the physical card itself?

hi everybody,
I have a quick question. I noticed that the phoenix miner is using one out of four cpu cores completely. so on my quadcore, I have a constant cpu use of about 25%. when I use poclbm instead, it will only use about 1% of my cpu. Is this a normal behaviour of the phoenix miner? because phoenix miner is about 5% faster in mining than poclbm on my system (hd5770). so I would prefer to use the phoenix miner, but with the high cpu usuage, it will cost me more electricity and it produces more heat, what isn't good at all, and eats up the higher efficiency in mining. is there any possibility to fix the cpu usuage?
cheers iro
I'm wondering the same thing. I've got a 5830 and a 4870 in the same machine running CCC 11.7. The 4870 is running at 84mh/s and the 5830 is going at 304mh/s. Looking at phoenix.exe, both instances of the program are running at 50% cpu usage. My CPU is a Core 2 duo overclocked to 3.2ghz. This really needs to be looked into. Strange thing is I don't think it was always this way. I don't know what changed but I think in earlier versions of phoenix my CPU usage was far lower.

Since you installed 11.7, then 11.2 then again 11.7, some files may be corrupted, particularly OpenCL. Check out opencl is installed by using GPU caps viewer. If it says & still you cant mine with directly using phoenix or poclbm or diablo miner, then better uninstall ati drivers fully, ONLY AFTER THAT, use driver sweeper to completely remove all the AMD by analyse & clean. You can do it in safe mode, so that it removes all drivers. Then install again. Also before doing that all, u can re install, AMD APP only, some times that too solves problem.
I have, in one HDD, after all the above steps still i cant mine. Only way seems for me is format. I used 11.6 & 11.7 .
Seems like that's exactly the issue. I just uninstalled and reinstalled 11.4. It works but the CPU is still huge and I can't overclock to 955mhz. Tried 11.2 earlier and it crashed. So it's looking like I'm going to uninstall and then go back to 11.7. Hopefully they resolve that CPU issue in the master release

core: 955mhz mem:300mhz VDDC:1163 (stock) Fan: 85% Temp: 58-62c Vectors, HD5xxx+, fastloop, phatk, agression=12, worksize=512
AOCLBF 1.75 with phoenix 1.50
I was getting 301-304MH/S out of this. I uninstalled the drivers for my 5830 and 4870 (unused) trying to resolve the high CPU issue in CCC 11.6 and 11.7. I put 11.2 on and tried to run the miner, nothing happens. The GPU never goes above 0%.
I put 11.3 on, same issue.
I put 11.7 on, same damn issue. Seems like AOCLBF is having an issue with Phoenix or something but I'm not sure at this point what the issue could be.
Any ideas?

Well, this was working really well with CCC 11.7. I had my 5830 overclocked to 955.
I'm trying to resolve the CPU issue with CCC 11.6 so I uninstalled the drivers and loaded CCC 11.2.
For some reason now I'm having two issues.
1). In AOCLBF, when I overclock past 900mhz, I get "error setting clocks! Probably BIOS limit reached. 2). Even with the current default clocks, I press 'run' and it just idles at 0 mh/s
It appears that with 11.7, you can overclock a card higher in AOCLBF. I reinstalled 11.7 and now I can clock back at 955mhz.
still idle though, not sure what can be causing that.
give aggression 12 or something instead of "Aggression" core: 955mhz mem:300mhz VDDC:1163 (stock) Fan: 85% Temp: 58-62c Vectors, HD5xxx+, fastloop, phatk, agression=12, worksize=512 AOCLBF 1.75 with phoenix 1.50

I just dropped memory clock down to 300 and I'm now getting 301-304mh/s. ![Shocked](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/shocked.gif) core: 955mhz mem:300mhz VDDC:1163 (stock) Fan: 85% Temp: 58-62c Vectors, HD5xxx+, fastloop, phatk, agression=12, worksize=512 I'm using AOCLBF 1.74 ( http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=10264.0) with phoenix 1.5

Just found them on. I'm getting 11.2-11.5. Which ones were the latest ones without that CPU bug?
|

|
What's the issue with CCC 11.6 and 11.7 regarding the CPU? I'm seeing much higher CPU usage but I thought that was due to putting in a faster GPU.
I hear that you can load up 11.2 and the CPU usage will be lower. Tried to load it up last night but my win7 machine complained because 11.2 is 32bit (at least the version I found.) Does anyone know where I can find CCC that doesn't cause higher than needed CPU usage and works on windows 7 64bit?

So, what's the plan with this new version? send btc from old wallet into the new one? Convert the wallet.dat file?
What's the new file that we have to back up and encrypt to keep safe/secure?

I would suggest selling the 4870 and replacing it w\ a 5770 or another 5830. Why not sell the 4870 and get another 5830?
i got ~$90 for my 4870
You know, that's a darn good idea. Where'd you sell, ebay?

All 4 of my Sapphire 5830s do 307-310mhash in Ubuntu
Flashed with RBE: Core: 1000 Mem: 344 Voltage: Stock Fans: 85-100% Temp:58-72C(depending on when my AC runs)
I went XFX just for their lifetime warranty. I figured as a miner, that'd be good to have. 20mh/s less is alright by me, I suppose.

Yeah, just found out about that last night. I think CCC 11.7 doesn't need dummies though. May try that. I have a 4870 and 5830 in there now. Eventually I'll get 2x5830's. ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)
