301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: drop in btc value on: February 19, 2011, 06:38:01 PM
I will listen to anyone's opinions on this.....  EXCEPT those who have...

credentials in economic theory

....because they are like film and theater critics:   (1) full of themselves, and (2) almost always wrong.
302  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A simple application to backup your wallet in Dropbox and Gmail [scam] on: February 19, 2011, 06:22:59 PM
This is why I rely on YOU guys to test out new software.... for me....   Smiley

I'm not into being on the bleeding edge of new things.

So only 30 bitcoins were lost to this douchebag thief?

Maybe we could each make a little donation to him (the victim) to help make up for his loss...?

I hate to see innocent people scammed like that.

Apparently, people like this give a BAD NAME to all of their fellow Russian Countrymen.

It is very sad that it gives the entire world the impression that Russia is nothing but a land of criminals and thieves.    It's very sad.     It is a disgrace to all decent people everywhere.

PS - Mind making the word slightly more obvious in the title of this thread?    Like:  [SCAM] A simple application to backup your wallet in Dropbox and Gmail [SCAM]
303  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lost money on MyBitcoin.com? Report it here. [UPDATE: funds recovered] on: February 19, 2011, 02:14:24 PM

Has EVERYONE who lost funds, now had them recovered?
304  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / OneRadioNetwork.com with Patrick Timpone on: February 18, 2011, 04:10:32 PM
Wow!    Shocked

Patrick Timpone, the host on OneRadioNetwork.com 's Patrick Timpone Show....  just CALLED ME.... to ask me to talk more about Bitcoin.

It was so funny because Patrick and I chatted for several minutes before I realized that we were BROADCASTING LIVE ON THE AIR...   ( Like an idiot, I forgot that his show is live at this time! )    Cheesy

Anyway....  I yacked more about Bitcoin... and my predictions for the future....    ( Can't wait to hear how wacky you guys think I am.  lol )

Today's show will be downloadable as an MP3 by some time later tonight.... at OneRadioNetwork.com
305  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Go to Wall St in Front of N.Y. Stock Exchange With Sandwich Billboard - 100BTC on: February 18, 2011, 01:31:36 AM
Oy Vey!

You guys expect a LOT for 100 Bitcoins....      Smiley

I live in NYC and I have trouble getting ANYTHING delivered for $100.   Most people I know make $200/hour or more.   Typical rent here is $3200 per month.

Getting someone to SHOW UP anywhere in Manhattan is going to cost $100 minimum (assuming they are not in a delivery business all day long).    A taxi to JFK is $90 Plus Tolls for the round trip.

Not to mention the time incurred in obtaining custom materials, custom craftsmanship, and custom costuming...

( You might try HIRING a company to do this....  just to get a price....  and a more realistic idea of what things cost here. )

In Lima, Ohio...  you might get a high school kid to do this....  assuming it was during their summer vacation.   Maybe...

Having said all that....   I hope it happens and it makes the news!   Smiley

TODAY IS PARITY DAY!!!!

PARTY PARTEEEEEE!!!!!!

Bitcoin passed $1.00 today!!!
___

Steve Gibson (the presenter) of the Security Now show on http://twit.tv must have studied it for a while...

Because the first time I emailed him (to his private email address) to tell him about Bitcoin, was about on December 27th... Then, again, on January 19th.

So, finally, he's had the time to read up on it and digest it properly.   He always does his homework.

I must give credit to one of my best friends, Steven Kovitz, who first suggested to me that Steve Gibson needs to do a show about Bitcoin.   Actually, his comment to me was more along the lines of, "I'll buy into Bitcoin ONLY after I've heard Steve Gibson tell me that it's safe... on his Security Now show."   Smiley

So......... I took that on as a challenge.

And I also must give credit to my secret connection inside the TWiT organization who helped me connect to Steve Gibson.

Anyway, I think it's another great media breakthrough for Bitcoin...

And I think...

IF YOU HAVE HALF OF A BRAIN YOU'D BETTER TAKE ALL ALL ALL OF YOUR MONEY AND BUY BUY BUY BITCOIN IMMEDIATELY!!!!

If you need to buy Bitcoin for cash, with no transaction fees, contact me.   email@bitcoinme.com

A Cruise Line - The Musical

"Welcome to the official site for the new Broadway-bound Musical Comedy A Cruise Line. We are currently in the midst of a crowdfunding effort to fund the First Wave of this show--casting the actors and getting them into the recording studio to add vocals to near-finished tracks and then begin rehearsals on the workshop performance in May 2011."

I got a call from someone recently with a similar problem.  He was using Windows 7 (the 64 bit version).

I told him to use http://mybitcoin.com instead.   Smiley

313  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Uzbekistan on: January 17, 2011, 05:37:32 PM
Why do you interested in a such remote place? I think you need to ask people from there.

Unless I am mistaken, they get the same internet we do....  So this forum should reach them too.  Smiley

Why you interested in this and at the same time completely ignoring my request concerning brilliant translation of your site
bitcoinme.com into Russian made by russian community member m0Ray.  Huh

I don't mean to be ignoring your request.  I am overwhelmed with work here, so I need to hire another assistant.  I'm thinking of hiring a "virtual online assistant" who lives there.   This would help me keep on top of the 3,000 projects on my plate.... including emails like yours (about the translation).   It would be cool if I could easily pay him (an assistant in Uzbekistan) using Bitcoin.

As per your generous offer to help translate the site...  The answer is YES!  Thank you!   I am working on moving the site to a better platform, which will allow the readers to easily select the language from a list of at least 13 languages.   ( Again, this is more work that my new assistant could be trained to do. )

If you would like to translate the site into your language, please do it!   Just email me the text, section-by-section, and as soon as we can... we will paste it in to the proper place.

Another benfit of the new platform:   It could be set up Wiki style....  So that ANYONE could improve on it.

Probably:

Bitcoin -> "btcex.com" -> WM(R|Z) -> "WebMoneyTransfer" -> Bank Transfer

Eeeee.  Sounds complicated.    Western Union costs $6, on the other hand.    We've gotta keep it fast and easy.    Sad

What's the best and easiest way to get cash for Bitcoin in Uzbekistan?
315  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Major Retail Point of Sale Initiative in USA on: January 15, 2011, 03:46:26 PM
Sort of a sidebar question, but still related to the development of AH...

We have a Tonido Plug.

I wonder if the AH could / should be integrated with any other FOSS projects like:

Tonido (the FOSS Dropbox)
Amahi (the FOSS server)
Tiki.org (the FOSS Groupware/CMS)
Drupal (another FOSS CMS)
Others?
316  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in RALLY mode on: January 13, 2011, 07:05:21 PM
A quote from the beginning of THIS THREAD....

Next big target is the all time high around 0.08

Those who are pessimists will always be pessimists.    Smiley

Meanwhile....  those who are putting ALL of their money into bitcoin......    are very pleased.    Smiley

A 666% increase in 3 months time....   How much is THAT annually...?   2664% per year?
317  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in RALLY mode on: January 13, 2011, 07:01:34 PM
Holy Moly! Bitcoin is seeing another SURGE! It just hit $0.40 per
Bitcoin! It was only $0.06 only 3 months ago.

I think ⓑ could cause confusion in Boston...   as it could be mistaken for the logo for the Boston Bruins (see http://www.sportslogos.net/logo.php?id=27 )

And since 1.00 THB = 0.0329327 USD, I think the beautiful wonderful Buddhist people of Thailand will be very happy indeed if you pay them in BTC instead of THB.   Smiley
319  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto versus Ben Bernanke Rap Video on: January 13, 2011, 06:23:31 PM
I think he's Indian.

Either Indian or Thai.

But I can't be completely sure.
