For those finding this thread later, Google Checkout prohibits " currency exchanges" through their service (look at the very bottom of the page under "Wholesale currency"). So I suppose it doesn't matter how good their fraud detection is But.... "legally speaking".... or "tos speaking".... Is Bitcoin REALLY considered a "currency" by Google Checkout and/or Amazon? That seems like a good question to ask them. It bet they'd consider it "virtual merchandise".

Could a URI call such a function...?
Maybe a URI could specify a simple one-time payment OR a simple one-level recurring payment (like $60 per month for 12 months) OR it could call such a function (for fancy custom recurring scheduling)...?
Are we then expecting the Bitcoin client (app) to parse and process such a function?
That seems like a lot of burden to dump onto every Bitcoin app in existence. No?

Dark Purple is the primary (strongest) coverage area. You're golden.

Maybe such a store will become viable and sustainable once we have electronic digital heroin.

Yes. We especially listen to the Saturday episodes with monetary expert, Andrew Gause. You should listen to a few of the episodes with Andrew Gause. I think you guys would love him!

Looking forward to the next installment. Thanks! MtGox, will you accommodate transfers both To and From Paxum? Getting USD into Bitcoin will be much easier via Paxum --> MtGox We're excited also about the possibility of taking MtGox USD --> Paxum MasterCard.... for easy spending at Starbucks or the grocery store or online or wherever.

There is a zipcode service search on the main MEtroPCS website that says that there is not service available in any of the zip codes near my city.
What city are you in? I recommend that you NOT enter your zip code... Just go to http://www.metropcs.com/coverage/ and look at that map. Zoom in and find your city and area. All purple areas have coverage.

So your friend knows that he have to convert from LR to dollars before finally making a profit?
Hmm, maybe you should trade him cash for bitcoins.
I am willing to give him cash for Bitcoin. He says he may want to hold on to it in Bitcoin anyway though. Plus, you can have USD direct deposited into your US bank account by MtGox too.

Yes, I believe so. I see no reason why he cannot sell you phones, accessories, and service -- no matter where you live. He can certainly accept Bitcoin, assign the new phone a new phone number (or port an existing number), and ship the phone to you. Because I am working with him, if you have questions, feel free to call him (the dealer), and/or me. 646-580-0022 ALSO.... I just made a little treat for you guys. (Maybe MetroPCS will send me a free phone, or at least a virtual flower bouquet...?) See the YouTube video I just now posted: Comparison of Motorola Droid on Verizon to LG Optimus M on MetroPCS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlptYSDgWP8

I apologize for posting this as a new topic. I'm sure it's been discussed at length before. Can someone please point me to the thread that contains the defacto "best" way to backup (in many places) safely encrypted copies of your wallet.dat file...? In other words, HOW best should the average not-too-too-technical user: - backup his wallet.dat file (or multiple wallet.dat files?)
- encrypt it
- distribute backup copies all over the place
- who to give the password to (if anyone)
i.e. Do you need to Quit the Bitcoin application before copying the file out? Do you need to Delete the wallet.dat file that you copied out? ...and let the app create a new one? ...or just leave the original one there? What will be the results of either of these actions? What software should you use to encrypt your wallet.dat file before storing it? I want to create a screencast How To video, for the http://bitcoinme.com site, and everywhere else, to teach the normal man-on-the-street user how to "back up his money file".

You guys are over my head... but rather than the Bitcoin program needing to be running 24/7..... What if the link opened the web-based MyBitcoin.com... inserting all the proper fields into a Send Money page....

Although I love some of the creative designs people have come up with here... The problem is, if the character doesn't already exist in standard-issue fonts... What are we going to do? Insert a JPG image next to a numeric value every time we want to type a Bitcoin amount...?

OK. I suppose you guys might be right. But I'm from Ohio originally. And I can tell you, it works the same way in Columbus Ohio as it does here. It's a friends of friends networking business, with in-home sales reps. Facebook grew by friends of friends... But for the isolated, with no friends who smoke... I guess. But I don't see "under a rock " being very practical. And mailing it seems extremely dangerous.

Wow, that sounds good. Even though I'm in a contract it might be worth trying to get out. I don't know where I'l move though, I should find a coverage map.
I paid $240 to cancel my Verizon contract. It's well worth it. I'll. SAVE $100 every month. Coverage map: http://MetroPCS.com

How did this happen?
Because the owners of the largest chain of MetroPCS dealers in Manhattan is a good friend of mine.
I personally set them up to accept Bitcoin.
Where do they have coverage?
They have their own excellent network in all major USA cities. Outside of that, they have a deal with Sprint which makes their service nationwide.
Wherever Sprint has coverage, MetroPCS has coverage.
The service is like $30/month for a non-smart phone, or $50/month for a smartphone -- for UNLIMITED EVERYTHING, NO CONTRACT. They don't even need to know your name nor address!
The provider company, MetroPCS, doesn't accept Bitcoin (yet).... but this Dealer does, at all their locations.
Yes, they'll simply accept Bitcoin at the MtGox exchange rate.
As a side note, I had a Motorola Droid on Verizon. Ed had the HTC Evo on Sprint. We both switched to the LG Optimus M on MetroPCS, and we love it!
My bill went from $146/month to $50/month (including taxes).
I WILL SAVE $1,200 / YEAR.
