insightful.

nice little pump, someone is feeling confident about DRK?
303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | Fork for Masternode Payment on: July 08, 2014, 01:02:54 PM
yes, but money laundering is and thats basically what a masternode does.

"Money laundering is the process whereby the proceeds of crime are transformed into ostensibly legitimate money or other assets."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Money_laundering

MNs are only obfuscating Darkcoin transactions, i.e. turning them into cash like transactions.
I agree. I don't plan to do anything illegal. But does this sound improbable?
A terrorist organization gets paid in DRK (They accept BTC now...) the transaction was somehow associated with a masternode. This node is associated with you. There's a knock on the door...

Governments love to use terrorism and kiddieporn to create FUD and justify their actions, don't play along.

damn this is gonna be a soap opera this month

ME:
complaining about Blackpool not paying to MN

Blackpool:
We aren't aware of the situation. More information would be appreciated.

ME:
Please check your twitter about the darknode payment issue. It says "We have updated our wallet so should be all good."
According to my data, drk is being mined by your pool and masternode payments are disabled. Any comments?
Jarek

Blackpool:
Ticket: http://blackcoinpool.freshdesk.com/helpdesk/tickets/189
By "masternode payments are disabled" are you implying that this is a feature of your wallet? Or is it something we need to manually implement ourselves?
If you have any links to instructions, technical details, or announcements they would help us resolve the issue sooner.

Would someone post what exactly they have to do so I won't have to search for it? Thanks!

Tell blackpool they need to update their pool software:

For Stratum Pools:

https://github.com/darkcoinproject/darkcoin-stratum

They'll have to update before the next fork, otherwise all their blocks will get rejected (even if they have the new wallet).

Are you guys serious with these requirements?

We're just going to take DRK off of our rotation-- if your wallet can't handle payments automagically, it's just a headache.

We run highly custom software, and have no interest as of yet to make it DarkNode compatible. I don't understand why they can't put this in to the wallet?

^This amuses me.

Well, we don't run an off the shelf solution, so to create a proper implementation, would take quiet some time, all to make 20% less coin. DRK womps.

comply or lose a lot of mining in a few weeks Tongue

0.01 is the bottom? crazy undervalued price for the first coin which could provide privacy

it's BC, of course they don't want DC to prosper!

Again, just to reiterate on the piece of my post you didn't address, I do not like the centralized nature of the Masternode setup at Darkcoin, BUT , many coins have a centralized aspect, such as checkpointing servers in some POS coins. the way i see it, masternodes and checkpoint servers may be a necessary evil. So all in all i guess the Masternode setup isn't a big deal, so long as it offers no unfair disadvantage to common miners.

The concept of center, is that it is singular. It is a single point where all the other things revolve around / are based upon etc.

Checkpointing is centralization because there is one point where the network uses to align itself.

Masternodes are like ...500.

500 is not a single point / a center. There is no "center". There are 500 masternodes all over the globe.

If there was one masternode that did the mixing, it would be centralized mixing.

If there are 500-1000 nodes all over the world that operate in a p2p fashion, it is not centralization.

If the government can go to one place (center) and take down the system = centralization / client-server model - with the server-mixer being the single point of reliance.

If the government can't do that because it has to shut 500 nodes all over the world = decentralization / p2p model - with every node adding to network resilience.
congratulations you've successfully split a cunt hair.
the master node setup is still a centralized structure reliant upon trust. The current abundance of nodes strengthens your argument in favor of dark send but this goes against the entire concept of trusless regulatory consensus algorithms. Which is the key point I want to make here. Dark send is the appliance of provably corruptible centralized regulatory coin mixing services on top of a brilliant trustless decentralized regulatory consensus algorithm. Zerocoin is the future, not dark send. The transaction mixing needs to become apart of the algorithm its self not on centralized masternode servers.

zerocoin? that project is hardly active, DRK has to offer the best privacy still and possibly for a long time to come
310  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ** HARD FORK JUNE 20TH ** on: June 21, 2014, 03:13:00 PM
So is everything fixed already or we are still in the development phase ?

Believe our developers said 2-3 weeks, but it could be sooner.

2-3 weeks for developing what exactly?

its not only about developing

its about testing and testing alot with alot of nodes/wallets/pools

i expect 2 weeks

The way I understood, evan and others are now building a huge network in testnet, with several hundred daemons etc.

So this is not just for the current bugfixing, it will be a great platform for any further development and quality management.

applying the fix and making extra extra sure nothing is overlooked Wink
311  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ** HARD FORK JUNE 20TH ** on: June 21, 2014, 02:17:01 PM
I don’t understand what is the big deal, it was a very good attempt to activate Proof of Service payments directly from block rewards and that has never been done before. Actually the problem is minor and was found within an hour of reverting to non payment and everybody can understand what the problem was it is clear and logical so it should be easy to resolve. I think communication could have been better and panic could have been avoided, I am sure that a lot of people that sold, wouldn’t have done it if they had the information we have now.

The reason Evan said 2 - 3 weeks is because he is being cautious we cant really set a date and push it back, doing it sooner than the expected date is perceived as positive like when we moved the hard fork date from the 27th to the 20th, so under promise and over deliver.  Once we activate payments again this will be the most robust solution out there. This is like developing a prototype with everybody watching, you can not panic at every little hurdle, it is clear that the Darkcoin development team prioritizes the quality of the coin over the short-term price and that is very reassuring to me as an investor.

When a darkcoin is cheaper than a litecoin it must be a good buy Cheesy

there are always things you can't account for in a production environment, this seems like a small glitch, well I hope Cheesy

Maybe DRK should abandon masternodes entirely? Masternodes have ruined the price.

uh.. that's needed for the privacy.

a litecoin is worth more than a darkcoin atm Huh

Not spreading fud, just asking a serious question: What is this neutrino coin thing? Comes up out of nowhere and also promises some kind of anonimity. DRK better than them? Do we have tor? Looks like they mean serious business, almost too 10 on coinmarketcap already.

On $2900 of volume....

on 210m coins

If the TOR integration that they claim is fully functional then they could be the next big thing.

rrright.

no more fork issues means no more price crashes? how unexciting Cheesy

Helping with testnet forking issues?

All forking issues have been resolved! Next I'm going to start working on stabilizing the masternode payments / ghost masternodes, then I'll set a date for the fork (prob about two weeks).

** Please update your to 10.9.2 or 9.5.2 **
** If you updated and are running either of those versions from a few hours ago, please update as well, the keys were changed in the code **

(If you're not helping with testnet, you can ignore this. I'll be having everyone else update soon)

Great progress!

no reason to sell now except if you believe the FUD and the community is not working on fixing the fork issues (see darkcointalk forum -> no trolls there too!)

afaik the fork issue has been resolved. or am i wrong?

it just has to be implemented. and i dont see why that isnt happening any time sooner tbh.

afaik they know what the issue caused and are recreating the fork occurrence in the test environment to make  a proper fix.
