I just started using a Pi 4.  On the Pi 3 the best they would do was between 1.6 and 1.7 Ths, but at 160 watts.  I was able to get 2Ths on my gaming laptop running Ubuntu 18.04.  What your using for the controller seems to make a big difference.

How much power does the R606 take?

My two R606's, at just under 2Ths, take 198Watts.

I got my Pi 4 up and running last night after getting a new microSD card and copying the new software to it.

My batch one R606 is stable at 725Mhz on power level 6 getting 956Ghs.
My batch 2 unit is at 750Mhz on power level 5 hashing at 1.005Ths.

This about the same performance I was getting with my laptop running Ubuntu 18.04.  So the Pi 4 seems like a great way to go.  If your a newbie to Pi's I would recommend getting a kit with a preloaded SD card and case with a fan.

To see what kernel you are on do this on your 3b+  at a command line type uname -r and hit enter.  The current kernel that supports Pi4 is: 4.19.58-v7l+...

Thanks for the command to check.  It returns 4.19.58-v7+, but it won't boot the Pi 4.  The red light comes on and the green light flashes once or twice and goes out.  I'm in the process of downloading the image now and I went to WallyWorld and got a couple new microSD cards and will load the image on them tomorrow.  That download site sooo slooooww.

Did you renew the bootloader as described here:
https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/
look for Recovery
It may solve your problem.

It passed their test so that shouldn't be the issue.  Thanks though.

What kernel version of the raspbian did you install in your SD card(Pi 3b+)?

How do you check the kernel version?

So I think you need to update the kernel version first from your rasp PI 3b+ before you move the SD card to your Pi 4.

Are these the commands to update the kernel?

Code:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade -y

If so I tried that and it still wouldn't boot the Pi 4.

My rasp pi 2
Rasp pi 3
Rasp pi 3+

Each one needs a different image

If I don't have any luck I'll get a new card and download a fresh image and give that a whirl.

I just received my Pi 4 today and it didn't come with an SD card.  Can I use the SD card from my Pi 3 B+?

I tried it but it wouldn't boot.
Thanks,
Sam

CGMiner showing 9.98T this morning   Shocked

When the halving happens is this number affected?

That is the current network difficulty.  That number goes up or down according to network hashrate to maintain a block find rate on one every 10 minutes.

I'm a database programmer by trade in the UK and crazy about stats!  So, i decided to go out and buy an Antminer and find out for myself.

It's very noisy.  Noise monitor said 83 decibels at 3 foot away.  75 decibels at 10 foot away.   That's ear protection stuff if being by it for long times.

In the UK, my energy provider charges 16 pence a kilowatt ($0.2).  1100 x 24 Hours = 26.4KW.  That's £4.22p a day.  ($5.15).

I've just gone to my rewards page and after 10 days i've earned 0.00015919BTC.

Bitcoin today has just passed £10,000 a coin.  So i've just earned £1.59p ($1.94).  For £42.20p of electricity ($51.48).  OUCH!!!

Well, first your not ramped up so your not getting your full reward yet.  Your ramp up, full reward and ramp down will equal full reward for the whole time you mine.

Also if your mainly interested in the stats part, we need more stat's focused folks since Organofcorti disappeared, and since your electricity is outrageously high cost, maybe you should look at a lower end miner to collect your stat's with.

The Terminus R606 would fit that bill beautifully.  1Ths for around 100 Watts and quite compared to anything else.  Check out this link.

For the S9 you have, maybe you can find an economical hosting for it somewhere.

Finally trying out the R606.
Using Raspbian-Buster on a 3B+.
The cgminer detects the R606 correctly with: cgminer -n
Yet, when trying the full command: cgminer -o <> -u <> -p <> --gekko-terminus-detect
The miner returns "No devices detected."

Start your command line with sudo, "Super User do"

"sudo ./cgminer -o <> -u <> -p <>"

Drop the "--gekko-terminus-detect" as the top post of this thread has no reference, that I saw, to that argument so it must not be needed.

Quote: Also use code tags when post large amounts of reference text from the miner output.

I have two R606, have set triple lights, highest I powered them down, the lights stay on I can't put them in any other Mhz?

How can they be reset?

Did you try pressing the down button?  It's just below the up button.

I still need help figuring out how to create what I now know is called a SH or shell file

mstrozier gave us instructions for setting up an RPi and part of that was creating an sh file.  You can adapt that part of those instructions.

Would someone please post what speeds and settings they used to get 1TH/s on the r606?

On my units I needed 700+ Mhz to get 1Ths.  One needed Voltage Level 5 and the other Level 6.

Also if I was to buy a second one, could my rasberry pi run two or more r606s or would I have to get another pi?

I could only get that speed when running on a Computer with Ubuntu.  My RPi get's 800 to 850 GHs when running one or two units, at total around 1.7Ths.

If I enter it from terminal I can get the test string to work...

What do you mean by test string?

Can we get a block this month or too much to ask for?

I think you’re asking for too much at the current difficulty and hashrate of the pool  Cheesy

At a 135%, I don't think that is too much to ask.

I think we'll get one, at least, by the end of the month.

I think you called it Smiley

And we still have plenty of month left for one or two more. Smiley

Who should I purchase a Gekkoscience r606 from?

The top post contains a list of resllers.
316  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience NewPac / Terminus R606 (BM1387) Official Support Thread on: July 13, 2019, 03:54:59 PM
Yep, just the gekko option, and without any of the other miners plugged in.

It would probably be prudent to test it on another machine if you have a Winblows on Linux desktop available.  But it sounds like it's time to contact your reseller  if you haven't already.
317  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience NewPac / Terminus R606 (BM1387) Official Support Thread on: July 13, 2019, 02:04:32 PM
I would NOT download CGMiner from anywhere but a trusted source, vh in this case, so I have no idea where you would have gotten the 4.9.2 as ck doesn't provide the old versions anymore, that I'm aware of anyway.  So please be careful to not get hacked versions.

Anyway it sounds like you need to contact your reseller for some testing steps.

-Redownloaded the gekkoscience 4.11 cgminer build and only plugged the terminus into it.  Same issue...

Did you build this instance with only the gekko option?

Did you try running the R606 by itself?  If not try that to verify it work's.  The Block Erupter and Jalapeno don't bring anything much to the party anyway.
319  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience NewPac / Terminus R606 (BM1387) Official Support Thread on: July 12, 2019, 09:27:53 AM
I read some posts where some of you were having good luck with Pi 4's.

Where are you guys getting the Pi 4 from?  Newegg doesn't have them and that is where I usually buy my tech from since they accept Bitcoin.
320  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience NewPac / Terminus R606 (BM1387) Official Support Thread on: July 10, 2019, 10:53:36 AM
On my desktop, once I plugged the r606 into a 3.0 port, they zombied out the first pass.  2nd try, they gave me read / write errors.   And when this occurred, it screwed up all usb ports so would have to reboot the box to correct  Grin

Is this an issue with the r606 themselves for usb 3.0 or is this software related?

On my laptop the USB 3.0 ports work great with the R606's.
