301  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [185 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: April 07, 2014, 07:06:57 PM
Sorry friend, seems we're both developers who use much more advanced math than addition, so I don't see how we could disagree on basic addition.
The following blocks were found by P2Pool at the specified time:
Block #294121 - 2014-04-04 08:13:16
Block #294292 - 2014-04-05 03:35:13
Block #294304 - 2014-04-05 05:06:18

Between the 4/4 08:13:00 and 4/5 05:06:59, that's a 21 hour 53 second period within which three blocks were found.  Given your work with cgminer, it seems you have some great programming skills, but here you chime in to tell me I'm wrong when it's clearly not the case.  Embarrassed to admit you're wrong?

I am planning on leasing my Scrypt-N rigs on LeaseRig.net.  I've been in the trade business since 2006 and I always try my best to ensure a great customer experience.  Please post your experiences here.

What's up with this bad luck?  5 days and no blocks!  Nothing this bad in the entire 90-day history on p2pool.info, and our hash rate is up.  I'm starting to lose it guys   Shocked Angry Shocked Angry Shocked
306  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 Sales open] Price changes daily, now 0.893 BTC for 180GH/s on: April 02, 2014, 04:35:13 AM
Out of the 11 I've bought over the last month, one had a bad controller, and one was used with some dust on it.  The used one runs like a champ so I have no complaints there.  It took about a week to get a replacement of the controller, and I was really worried because they had terrible communication, but I was able to RMA it and they even sent some swag.  Seems shipping times are back to normal and the payment processing is working fine now.

I always overclock to 375, but you're looking at 50W extra for 10-15 more Gh/s, which might not be worth it if you're electricity is expensive.

back in stock.  Seems like they mark it OOS now and then just to mess with us.

Crap! I was waiting until Sunday to make my order for 5 more, since they wouldn't be open on the weekend anyway.  S2 isn't worth it at the prices we've seen.

Thought you guys might like to know.  My order still shows unshipped, but it just showed up at my door.   Grin

Yeah, all this waiting and not knowing is stressful. Glad I only have one pending. If they can't handle the volume they should raise the price.  Has anyone else looked at their account?  1QB8Ds5KbGYBLQa5RyDQ2sVUeSKWf7qgkZ  It's not like they need to clear them quickly for the money, they're sitting on nearly 17,500 BTC.  They've only ever pulled out 154 BTC, which is strange--you would think that they would be using the BTC from sales to finance production.

I ordered one ant on Wednesday night.  It just showed up as paid yesterday.  It is still unshipped, but I'm not worried.  Seems Bitmain running a little slower than usual, but not a surprise given the issues with the payment system.  It's a shame they don't communicate better, and I would have expected them to fix their payment system by now, but whatever, I can't complain-- Ant's are still the best miners on the market and Bitmain's service still beats everyone else.

I'm aware how p2pool works.  My goal was to wait 3 days, but after 1.5 of abysmal returns, I gave up.  As for more than Eligius... how would you know? Smiley

30 day luck at Eligius is 96.96%
30 day luck at p2pool is 81.4%

and you get NMC on Eligius.

I've only been on p2pool for two weeks, luck has been much better in the last two weeks than in the last 30 days.  The hash rate on Eligius is 5370 Th/s while the hash rate on P2Pool is only 138 Th/s.  That's like saying you mined on Eligius for 55 minutes and your luck was so bad that you quit. I get it, you don't like the variance, maybe for you this is serious business and you want to minimize risk like a banker.  I enjoy the added variance, it makes it more exciting and so far has worked out well for me.  Furthermore, it would be much better for bitcoin if more people would mine on P2Pool instead of giant centralized pools.  I just don't trust a giant no-fee pool, it doesn't make sense.

It would save a lot of trouble and worry if they would just fix the payment system.

Anyone know if Bitmain works on Saturday?
315  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 Sales open] Price changes daily, now 0.988 BTC for 180GH/s on: March 22, 2014, 02:02:01 AM
I used p2pool for 1.5 days with my ant.  My shares per unit of time never materialized, so my expected payout never got to 1/2 of what it should have been.  I considered it a wasted 1.5 days of mining.  I'm on eligius now.  BTW, I have yet to see a delay on Eligius payouts.

P2Pool has a large N in the PPLNS, it takes a few days for your share of the pool to max out.  If luck was okay you would have continued to receive payments even after you were back on Eligius.  I've been on P2Pool for a couple weeks now, I've made more than I would have on Eligius.  I switched after my 0.4 BTC payout on Eligius took 3 days to work it's way up the payout queue.

I want to remind everyone that your ants should be mining on P2Pool.  It's better for the network, there's no need to trust pool operators, and in the long run it should produce better payouts due to reduced orphan blocks.

I have a node in Chicago, p2pool.1js.us, but there are lots to choose from or you can run your own.  I really like how you get paid immediately when a block is found, really beats the queue at Eligius.  Average time to a block is 1 day 12 hours, but I actually enjoy the added variance--it's really exciting when there's a day with multiple blocks.  If we get more people on the network the time to block will go down as well.
317  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How i can undrervolt Ant minter s1 ???????????? on: March 21, 2014, 09:51:40 PM
I am also anxious to see some results.  This could be a game changer for profitability calculations by extending the life of our miners.  Once the revenue dips below energy cost, we can swap our resistors to improve the efficiency (at a reduced hash rate) and get many more months out of them.
318  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1] - Pencil Voltage Mod guide on: March 21, 2014, 02:28:06 PM
Nice work GenTarkin!

Really interested in undervolting to the extend the useful life of our S1's down the road.

1.  Would increasing the resistance at R12 have the desired effect?
2.  How far can we go?
3.  How did you calculate the resistance target?

New BTC P2Pool v13.4 node in Chicago, IL, USA

No fees

stratum+tcp://p2pool.1js.us:9332

Xeon E3-1230 V2 server in Steadfast Data Center.

I have four Antminers pointed there now.  Working great, low latency, > 100% efficiency so far.
