As far as darktor goes, I think it is perfectly reasonable to eliminate child pornography. If anyone has a host on darktor that has cp, I hope it will not be allowed. I believe it is ok to take a moral stand on issues and not hide from them under the freedom of speech/ well if we ban x then y,z, and all of alpha and half of that is up for discussion. No. Take a fucking stand. Child pornography hurts innocent people. Scars them. FOR LIFE. Don't equate the freedom one chooses to purchase drugs, sell images of their own bodies, etc., to the forceful filming of 4-8 yearolds, or 15 month olds, in sexual situations.
Whether it is reasonable or not isn't the problem. The problem is how do you do this in a decentralized fashion. Also child porn is easy, but there are many many things that people will disagree on whether it should be made available. I am sorry but slippery slopes do exist. The best thing is for someone to come up with a way to prevent certain content from being accessed when using their masternode. Hm, so every master node operator will decide what content he / she allows to get access to ? So like, in countries where cannabis is illegal, the master node does not allow access to cannabis related sites, in countries where age of consent is 21, you will ban any content to sexual content where the involved ones are below 21, and in states where drinking is prohibited, you will ban any alcohol related content ? Ah, and in other countries, where it's forbidden to eat beef, we ban access to 'how to make a perfect steak' content. Right. Where does it end once you start censorship ? I agree that it beats the purpose of DarkTor to have any say about what the user can access or not. It would be good if the content was encrypted even from the MN operator. |

People here go from circle jerking to panic mode very fast. I don't see the problem  . It all depends on what Evan meant by that statement. I think we can all agree that no enforcement is very very problematic. Miners do not necessarily have to be sympathetic to DRK. Additionally, no enforcement would open up an attack vector on the Masternode network. Someone who doesn't like DRK can simply mine at a 20% advantage to everyone else, while undermining the system that lets DRK function. There has to be enforcement. I suppose the advantage of the RC3 voting method is that is has been tried and tested so in that regards surely less risky to turn on? Let's wait to hear from the captain.. +1 Moreover we use the soft-fork strategy since June (test then enforce) https://darkcointalk.org/threads/rc3-relaunch-strategy-and-testing.1482/The last couple of days I've been working on implementing the hashing algorithm for the last issues we had on the 20th and I've come up with a strategy that I think will much better suit us for launching the masternode payment system.
Instead I propose the following plan for launching RC3 in stages, which will be much safer and more stable:
We'll introduce an "enforcing" setting for masternode payments. This will be turned off at launch making it the equivalent of a soft fork, but will allow us to use the full infrastructure of the darkcoin network for testing. In the debug log, the system will complain when any issues arise and users can report such issues. After a period of time passes with no issues, we'll set a date to begin enforcing. At this time all issues should be dealt with so we'll have a much smoother launch.
In the past launches all problems have come from the client checking the block to possible forging of masternode votes. With enforcing mode off, the system will still detect these and report them but it won't reject the block. So once we stop seeing these messages (except for valid forged blocks) the system is ready.
This also allows us to turn on masternode payments much sooner. I believe it will take us just a few days to test this new setup, then we can turn them on for mainnet. The RC3 system was maybe never enforced because a system change was scheduled for RC4. |

The only ones really "concerned" about that are here in our small crypto world. |

this won't help.. trolls are trolling, the problem is uncertainty about rc4. people are afraid that there are bugs, things have to get sort out wether there are some or not. evan should take some time on that i think, i know he likes coding more but it lacks a bit of his response to the "issues" posting screenshots of working rounds is useless imo, especially on test net. we are on mainnet already, the average user doesn't care about test net. |

Yes. But the coin is dying and there is a tiny window to save it by creating a Btc mixing service to get new Btc into the coin. Do it while the marketcap is large enough to handle decent volume.
So if that's what you think needs doing, why not get off your arse and do it instead of moaning that nobody is doing it for you? Because the market is avoiding Drk like Ebola due to it being closed source. What got into you ? You repeat open source, closed source like a mantra. That's only your opinion, the dev team is not working to respect your own schedule, if you don't like it you can sell at any time. |

I personally think going closed is what is killing drk. The experts like AA are avoiding it and the whales did not react to RC4. Also markets will not form around closed source tech. There was a window to gain the support of the privacy community. Drk was leading that race.
Nothing is killing DRK.  It's a tiny and volatile market, currently filled with ADD lemmings, prices will fluctuate. Meanwhile clever people are getting on with building something amazing. Anyone whining about the current price who isn't actively participating in some way to add value to the DRK ecosystem should really shut the fuck up, it isn't anyone else's job to give you a free lunch.Ozziecoin has a weird behavior since the RC4 release, wants the project to rush to open source etc. |

It's not a scam by design. But some people, who most probably have many coins from the time they were very cheap, use it to scam people. That is to sell them expensive coins, then drop the price and rebuy at lower prices and redo the cycle. And for you it's a behavior specific to darkcoin investors ? I have a question.
I'll go right out ahead and say that i am a firm Darkcoin enthusiast (maybe even believer) because of the way that i've seen the developers handle everything thus far. Kudos for them all the way!
However, i am also invested in another coin (CL...)
I believe both of these coins have very good fundamentals and are serious contendors of having large marketcaps in the future.
However, I believe that currently the idea of CLOAK on OneMarket is superior to that what we are going to be implementing here (OpenBazaar).
Because the way I see it, OpenBazaar uses some form of central marketplace, whereas Onemarket is a decentralised marketplace.
Is there anyone who can explain me why OpenBazaar should/would be superior to an implementation like OneMarket, or why we choose to not try and implement something similar like them here?
Not trying to spread FUD here, i genuinely want DRK to succeed! Am just trying to get a more firm understanding of the market.
