301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin still fork and do exchanges still keep the forks? on: February 04, 2024, 05:02:29 AM
It was free money for so many people. Many exchanges profited from that by withholding those forked coins of customers that couldn't withdraw on time to private wallets to enable them claim. That event was an eye opener for so may people. It's the same thing with those who send exchange addresses for staking certain tokens to claim airdrops. That's not a good idea. Use private wallets.

I didn't have Bitcoin on any exchanges or in my wallet. I remember something about a casino. They have listed BSC or maybe it was BSV (I don't remember correctly), but they have airdropped the same amount to the user account that was holding Bitcoin back then. I didn't understand why people were getting those money for free. I only understood that last year when I learned more about forks. I also checked if my blockchain.info wallet qualifies for any forks like BSC or BSV, but I noticed that I hadn't held any Bitcoin back then. I was doing only transactions with my Bitcoins. Do you know which exchanges didn't airdropped forked coins to their users who have Bitcoin Balance?
302  Other / Meta / Re: Campaign to improve posting quality for local boards on: February 03, 2024, 02:54:51 PM
I disagree with this, at least with what I have seen and been told, but if truly one is banned immediately with a few errors that could be guided and corrected without a warning, then that is cruel. I can't however side with anyone outrightly as I've seen a whole lot of users with powers getting intoxicated, nonetheless, if such issues are raised, I think that such an account could be reopened.

Many users have been here even after doing repeated violations like plagiarism multiple times. The community sees them negatively while many members were banned right after one report. You will find a lot of cases where some people had the benefit of the doubt while others didn't get a single chance. I don't want to mention any names but if you search for such things, you will find them for sure. Yeah, I have seen that Admin Cyrus opened a 2nd chance thread for the users who was banned from this forum. But, I believe most of the banned users already build their 2nd account in the mean time.
303  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US wants to know bitcoin electricity usage in the country on: February 03, 2024, 02:39:38 AM
Let us hope these people are not trying to come up with something.

The Bitcoin miners have been making some profit lately and then this happened. LOL. I am not from the US and I don't have any Idea about electricity usage in the US. But, the government wants to know the information means something is going to happen in the future. I don't know if the US has to buy electricity from other countries, I always thought they have enough power sources. I don't think they have to limit electricity usage unless they are buying electricity from outside the US. I have seen some YouTube videos where the miners were setting up solar panels for their mining farm. I don't know if that helps enough. Let's hope no more censorship.
304  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 📢 ₿ Bitcoin will replace Dollar? Even celeb venture capitalists are saying this on: February 03, 2024, 02:31:38 AM
Don't you ever really think that the day is not far away when people will no longer ask for dollar for anything?

Keep dreaming about it. I consider myself a Bitcoiner even though my Bitcoin holding is not anything significant. But I do not think we are even close to this time. Bitcoin fluctuates a lot and it's not possible to set a fixed price with Bitcoin for everything you buy from the market. Another problem is the high fees. I don't think people are that much idiot to pay $10 transaction fees for another $20 product. The lightning network could be a solution, but it does not eliminate all the issues. Bitcoin is Bitcoin. It is great as an Investment asset just like gold. But, do you use gold to do regular shopping? I know you don't because it's not possible. If Bitcoin fees remain like that, I don't think dollars with replaced by Bitcoin anytime soon. Feel free to criticize me!
305  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin still fork and do exchanges still keep the forks? on: February 03, 2024, 02:22:29 AM
I wasn't there when the major hard fork happened like BCH and BSV. But, I guess I used to use Bitcoin back then. I have checked my Blockchain.info account (which is blockchain.com now) and checked my address if I was holding any BTC back then. Unfortunately, I did some transactions but never held my Bitcoin for longer than a month or so.

Blockchain.info is used to provide your private keys which you could import to another wallet which they still do. But, I don't know about exchanges if they kept the forked coins of their users or not. But, if they did, that is something unethical.
306  Other / Meta / Re: Campaign to improve posting quality for local boards on: February 02, 2024, 04:16:21 PM
Newbies in the examples you have described definitely deserves to be guided. But I was talking about deliberate plagiarism or using AI to "write" posts. When someone does this, it means that he is aware of what he is doing. Does he need any guidance or advice? Will it be a discovery for him if other forum members warn him that this is unacceptable? I doubt all of that. That is why I see more use in just reporting such users to moderator. But of course I am not talking here about some users making mistakes, but who are ready to learn and are thankful to the guides which over users provide to them.

In that case, we also report their posts. But, you still didn't get the other fact I have mentioned which is the unwritten rules of the forum. Take merit abuse for example. The forum allows multiple accounts. What if you see someone created a topic and replied with another account and sent some merits from one account to another? Isn't it unethical?

Sometimes we know this is abuse. But, do you think we could report it without any evidence? We can only report once it gets bigger and obvious to everyone that the account is someone managed by the same person. Talking yourself, sending merits, trust inclusions and many other unethical things that are not listed on the forum rules still frowned upon.
307  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Receive Merit - Post your PGP key, add an encrypted message, open for anyone. on: February 02, 2024, 08:53:53 AM
Question: What is the reason for doing this does it increase my safety in any way here on the forum or for my coins? I don't know what this is or what to do but if it's something that can increase my safety I would want to look into it.

Let me be clear first. Do you want to know the reason behind encouraging people to use PGP? Well, BitcoinGirl.Club has been doing it because he wants the community members to learn more about PGP because it is a great privacy tool that allows you to send encrypted messages. I have read somewhere that even forum PM security is not guaranteed. So, if you use encryption, no one would be able to read the message except the person who is the receiver.

A lot of messengers including telegram and WhatsApp claim their services are end-to-end encrypted. But we don't know the reality. Let's say you want to send your Bitcoin wallet private key to one of your family member and you don't it to get compromised, I don't think any digital channels are secured enough. Those could be hacked. In this case, PGP Encryption enables a great feature for you.

To learn more about PGP, you could follow the posts mentioned by AirtelBuzz.

So, it's of high priority to create awareness.

That's what we have been doing, and some of our locals helping us do it. But as you know, there are always some people who promise to stay with us but they leave our local thread once they rank up to their desired rank. I am the person to blame for that. I have been vocal against some of their abuse and since then, most of them stopped coming to our local threads and do not write there anymore.

I have been translating useful threads for a year now and some of our locals also help guide newbies including DS, LM, Crypto Library, and a couple of more users. I have also written many original contents but since we are just in a local thread, most of the posts were buried. Sometimes I feel awkward to talk high-ranked members because they were supposed to know better than us.
309  Local / Other languages/locations / Re: জানুয়ারি মাসের অ্যাক্টিভিটি ২০২৪ on: February 02, 2024, 08:35:55 AM

----

Usually, I take a little longer than average time to complete the translations because I don't want to feel pressured. Moreover, I am too busy with my new start-up and I am doing the translations only when I have some free time.

Let's get back to your post. I understand your whole point. I also agree that writing 10 posts a day isn't spamming. But, when you see a particular campaign participants doing it for ages and you do not see those participants out of some specific boards, you might have a negative thought about them and I don't think everyone will disagree with me about it.

Yeah, I have noticed that you have removed some participants for spamming. One of my local was removed from one of your campaign due to a neutral feedback and that is something I should appreciate. If campaign managers act accordingly like this one, the forum would have less spammy threads and posts.
311  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be the Person [poster] You Should Be on: February 01, 2024, 03:37:56 PM
I do not have any problem and do not see any problem if a newbie teaches me something that I didn't know. For example, let's say I don't know how to use the CPFP feature with my electrum wallet, and suddenly a newbie suggested to me the way I could do it, do you see anything wrong here? I joined this forum in 2022, but that does not mean I didn't know about Bitcoin before 2022.

So, What if I came to this forum and guided a legendary about how he should use a feature of Electrum wallet? Would you ignore my valid suggestions just because my forum rank is newbie? I have created a thread to discuss this thing a few weeks ago and a lot of people agreed with my point.

My bad, newbies might be new in the forum but they might have vast knowledge about Bitcoin or another aspect of the crypto space. Such newbies could be helpful to the forum. Newbies could also ask questions and they will receive good answers from members of the forum. But my point is that sometimes some newbies come up with topics they know little or nothing about. That was why I compared them to new students who should learn more before they start coming up with lecture topics.

I understand your point too. Some newbies create accounts and go ahead and create a thread without checking anything. Either they are just spammers who want to get some attention, or they do not know how the forum works. If a newbie creates a topic and wants to know more about it, there shouldn't be any problem. But I have also seen some random users who create tutorial threads with wrong information. But that is very rare. Not too many newbies create tutorial threads when they need to learn. So, when we refer to newbies, it should not be the forum account rank but it should be the person's knowledge and experience. It could be a crypto newbie, tech newbie, you name it.
312  Other / Meta / Re: Campaign to improve posting quality for local boards on: February 01, 2024, 03:23:50 PM
Maybe it is the case with your local board. I would not say that is a common thing for every local. For example, in russian local, where I constantly write, the situation is different. Sure, the members there show support and give reasonable advice, but you also come across lots of sarcasm and irony, even intolerance sometimes. I am sure most of local members would not hesitate to report some newbie who is violating forum rules.

I am not only talking about the violations that are in the forum rules. Some other things are not listed on the forum rules but these are frowned upon. There is a thing called ethics and we all should be ethical. Let's talk about how our locals react when they see someone violating forum rules. Let's say a newbie just registered and wrote something that violates the forum rules. Usually, we don't report that post. We try to correct them instead because I believe not everyone reads the forum rules before they register here. But if they continue doing it by ignoring our messages, we report them.

Some other things are not listed on the forum rules such as merit abuse. Cheating with multiple alts and many more. Sometimes it's obvious that a account is alt account and who control that. But we cannot report without any kind of evidence. But, when something is going on for a long time and a big number of users joins that, we should do something even if we do not have any proof. I did what I wanted and luckily it worked.
313  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You must have a source on: February 01, 2024, 03:14:52 PM
Sorry guys no offense but when you already know what you are doing then you are unlikely to be confused with your business planwhich is indeed a new plan because your savings and all the money you have including unexpected needs you all use to buy bitcoin and some altcoins maybe shitcoin so in this case I think you are lacking in planning even though indeed your life is maintained because you don't use your daily needs money there (because only use all the savings you have) but indeed when there are some needs that in the end are not too unexpected like wanting to do a new business you become a hassle then this can be considered your planning is less mature.

It is not wrong to be a little aggressive especially when prices are still considered cheap because it is an optional condition but again using all your savings without considering unexpected needs I think it is too much friend.

I am sorry but could you please use some punctuation in your texts? I am not a native English speaker and do not know where to stop. Please use commas and full stops when necessary. Now I am giving you an answer based on what I understood. Yes, you could say that I am lacking of planning. But it's not true that I have invested ALL my savings INCLUDING unexpected needs. I feel like you never know how much money to start a business. Otherwise, you won't say that.

My business needs a couple of thousand dollars, and I have already managed a big portion of it. As of writing, 90% of my funds were managed without selling a single satoshi. Now, If you hate altcoins or shitcoins, that's your personal opinion and I do not care about it. If you do not respect others just because they said they have invested some money in shitcoin, you have very low moral. 90% of my portfolio is BTC only and the rest is alts. If you do not like having alts for other purposes, we can't be friends.

Good Challenge satscraper!

I have seen another challenge that was run by NotATether and I want to consider his challenge thread as a successful challenge because a couple of users have tried and Run a node for at least 14 days. Challenges that help improve the Bitcoin network, and this one which will increase the level of wallet security always should be welcomed and encouraged. I support your idea but I am afraid because people may abuse your challenge thread. Here is a friendly suggestion, before you merit them, look at their merit patterns so you can understand if it's an alt account or not.

Cheers mate!

Newbies are new students who should be willing to learn and not to teach.

I do not have any problem and do not see any problem if a newbie teaches me something that I didn't know. 316  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Guide] Factors to consider before joining paid signature campaigns. on: January 31, 2024, 12:50:34 PM
[3]: Consider Weekly maximum post required.
Avoid campaigns that requires high number of maximum posts weekly, such campaigns does the forum no good and only encourages spamming. Evaluate your posting skills and from your post history determine what your average weekly post is, don't just up into any campaign that'll end you up with rapid increase of post counts without adding value to the forum.

I have read this thread before, But I don't remember If I have ever commented on this topic. I agree with everything you have shared but look at this point. I always considered stake participants as spammers because they could write more than ten posts a day without adding any value to this forum and all they write on gambling boards. There was a time when I also wrote ten posts a day but not on the gambling boards. I used to write in the several boards of the forum.

Now the reason I have quoted this part, I believe two of your campaigns contradict this point. I don't want to mention the campaign name but those campaigns allow users to write up to 60 posts and they are going to get paid for all those posts. More importantly, Tier E encourages spam in the forum. You may have a different point of view. But, I believe this is also a fact.

Anyway, I have started working on translating this thread for my locals. I hope I will finish the translation soon.

I will start working on it. Please consider this one as reserved. I will let you know once I am done.
318  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You must have a source on: January 31, 2024, 11:23:04 AM
I also have an average purchase price of $27.000 to $28.000. Just like @Learn Bitcoin mentioned, no one wants to miss the bull run. Even though there were better opportunities in the past, $27.000 is still a decent average price that can easily return double or triple yields within the next few months. I'm not sure when and if we'll surpass $100.000 anytime soon, but personally, a decent amount to consider selling would be between $60.000 and $65.000, but that depends on one's priorities and goals.

Yes. That's why I took the risk. Even I am still accumulating my Bitcoin from my signature campaign payments. I do not plan to sell in the 60K range yet. I might cash out some profits in that range. But I won't sell all of them since my target is way bigger. I wish I could hold them till 2030 and see what happens. We may not see 100K this year.

I believe we may see another ATH this year which could be 80K or so. The 100K range is a dream target for many of us. 2025 could be a year for Bitcoin. After that, many of us will buyback again and start preparing for another bullrun.
319  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wrong Moves With Your Bitcoin on: January 30, 2024, 12:31:30 PM
I guess I have posted this several times in several threads. My only wrong move was to sell it for a cheap price. I bought Bitcoin before the last bull run and I was holding tight without realizing that the bull run was over now. I didn't understand when I should have existed in the market. I could have some little profit from there.

Later, when Bitcoin was moving sideways, I was still holding with the hope that the bear market wouldn't be there for a long time. Then the lowest price was 15K, but I had to sell my Bitcoin in the 20K range because I needed some urgent cash. That is my only wrong movement with my Bitcoin.
320  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everyone Calls My Child's Name Bitcoin. on: January 30, 2024, 11:38:36 AM
I am also one of those lucky ones like you where I used my earned bitcoins in my important work which made me known in my area but not like you. When everyone in my area hears that I am using Bitcoin in my life important work then they are motivated to learn Bitcoin and come to know Bitcoin. But I have not yet explained to them exactly what Bitcoin actually is or how to earn Bitcoin because my security is involved here. I didn't tell them details about Bitcoin out of fear because Bitcoin is still illegal in our country.

You should be afraid of it. Bitcoin is not legal here and if more people know that you have used Bitcoin before and still do, they won't think twice about complaining to the police and getting you arrested. Not everyone uses Bitcoin for investment purposes only, some people care about privacy, and Bitcoin is supposed to be for privacy enhancement.

I don't know why it's too important to tell others that you have Bitcoin and you have made a profit out of it. Isn't it like you are showing off to them that you have Bitcoin? I have Bitcoin too and I don't know many people in my local area who use crypto. Probably there are hundreds of people are related to crypto but I do not know any of them and they don't know about me either. So, I don't know why everyone in your area has to know that you have used Bitcoin.
