301  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: July 19, 2017, 07:01:05 PM
Bitmain is absolutely ruthless these days, this company is going to own almost all of the asic market!!

Wouldn't you if you were them?

I know Bitmain receives a lot of crap from people who want cheaper miners, but I'm always surprised they don't charge way more than they do. These D3s, for example, would have sold out nearly as quickly if priced at $5k - yet Bitmain chooses $2700 because they know the pending difficulty increase will decrease profitability. I miss when Bitmain used to release how profitable each of their miners were (by batch, measured in bitcoin) had you started running them 24/7 after delivery based on a reasonable electric rate. It was always encouraging to see that they intentionally price everything to earn more of the corresponding coin than you would have had if you took the same amount of money and simply purchased the coins. I think they stopped doing this when bitcoin was worth way less since the math no longer worked out in their favor. I believe the introduction of the L3+ and D3 are a return to the pricing models of old.

Hi, how many antminer D3 will be sold yesterday? One hundred, five hundred, one thousand or more?

Cheers W_M

My guess is between 500 and 1500. We'll likely never know, but it wouldn't make sense to build less than that for a first batch. I got quite a few right before starting this thread 😅.
303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: July 19, 2017, 02:23:52 PM
@Searing
Guys from china should help to resolve scam/not scam problem Smiley.
I think this is try for revenage of Innosilicon through scam news. Bitmain destroyed their sale of A4 Scrypt dominator, after they announced L3+. Now they just trying to hurt Bitmain somehow.
For A5 X11 Asic, they need lot of R&D and they do not have capacity and money for such thing. They needed 2 years to develop A4 dominator which was 2 times weaker than L3+, also for higher price....

Difficult will go a lot before first D3 batches arrives...

You don't know whether or not they were developing an ASIC for X11 beforehand, though, do you? Perhaps they were already close to finishing it and just decided to announce their miner right after Bitmain did. You also don't know what kind of budget they have and what they can pull off. Whole lotta assumption and little fact.
You should know that Innosilicon had money problems to finish R&D and production costs for A4 dominator device (and for lot more other devices). A lot of people help them to finish project with their orderds and imagine Innosilicon did not respected that fact. They promissed that devices will be delivered aproximately 1 month after payment and they deliver devices 5-6 moths behind scheduled date, in same time when Bitmain stared to sell 2 times more efficient and better miners for better price. So they screwed their loyal customers. You can make conclusion by yourself what budget they have and how strong they are. They fired news regarding X11 miner, 2 days after Bitmain released D3 batch. They (Innosilicon) usualy promotoing their devices on mid stages of developing, because they need preorder donations to finish R&D and production costs (because they are not even close to Bitmain, I dont promoting Bitmain, but this is fact)....

We can make bets (few btc-s) scam or not scam if u have balls Smiley. Also 750w comsuption for 30 ths, telling a lot of things.
You are still green mate in this business no offense Cheesy.

Yeah, I'm not willing to trust Innosilicon with my money yet either. Anyone who was here through the years of Butterfly Labs, KNCMiner, Cointerra, etc... knows that even the most well-intentioned ASIC companies have a slim chance of success when it comes to executing and delivering these miners. Innosilicon's timing worries me as I feel they're rushing to get sales to fund their development before the big players eat up the market.
304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alternative PSU for Antminer L3+ ? on: July 18, 2017, 07:44:21 PM
We get this question A LOT. Here's a guide we like to give people when suggesting a PSU for people who don't want to run the brand new APW3++ (which also supports 110v now):

  • Obviously, your PSU must have at least nine 6-pin PCIe connectors. Yes, the 8-pin (6+2) connectors work too.
  • Always plan to use 80% or less of the total available power when using a consumer-grade PSU. If you need 800W, then purchase a PSU capable of 1000W or higher.
  • Only use PSUs that have a single 12v rail. Mining devices require very high amperage and cheaper PSUs can't provide the full amount over all of their connections. PSUs with a single 12v rail can supply their full output through any of their 6-pin PCIe connectors.
  • Only use PSUs that have Gold or better efficiency ratings. Efficiency matters a lot in the long run unless you have free power.
  • Don't forget that consumer-grade PSUs do not "turn on" without jumping the right pins on the 24-pin ATX connector. Here's a quick how-to. I prefer to use a PSU tester instead for aesthetic reasons.
  • Always be aware of your circuit's maximum amperage as well as how many amps are being used on the circuit in total. Remember, Watts = Volts * Amps, so 800W / 110v =7.27a.

Normally, we'd recommend the EVGA SuperNova 1050 GS, but they're out of stock almost everywhere. The EVGA 210-GQ-1000-V1 is a good substitute though.
305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: July 18, 2017, 07:23:52 PM
Guys dont hype D3 so much it is too early for any forecast. Dash difficulty is very low at this moment, Bitmain with their large production can pump difficulty 10 times until September if they set 100% producing capacity on D3.
Another interesting fact is that they do not accept DASH payment, on another words you can expect that Dash price will go down next months, plus difficult bomb is unavoidable. See LTC example, after Bitmain started to accept LTC payments for L3+,that is indicator that LTC will be stable and constantly pumped in next period, you can see that LTC is still in uptrend.

I don't think Bitmain accepted Litecoin for their first batch of L3+ that shipped in early May either. I'm guessing they'll add DASH as a payment option soon. Also, these things are still worth it if difficulty increases 10x. That's still less than 6 months to earn your money back at current DASH prices.
306  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: July 18, 2017, 05:36:42 PM
Wow, that was fast. I wonder how many they actually sold in this first batch. Remember, many of the orders placed will likely fall out and they typically reopen sales briefly when that happens. They're allowing 24 hours for payment, so I imagine that we'll see more in stock (briefly) tomorrow at around 11:00AM ET.

FAQ

Q: What if I'm a complete noob and need assistance setting these up?
A: We offer guidance, setup assistance, and troubleshooting support to all of our customers. In fact, we often do this for non-customers free of charge! We're part of this community with you and desire to see everyone succeed. We're happy to assist with design and scoping questions as well. We also just launched our YouTube channel with a focus on reviewing mining hardware and showing how to configure them from start to finish. One of the very first things we'll be doing when we receive the first batch of D3s is creating a setup guide and performing a complete review.

Q: I'm not located in the United States, can I still purchase from you?
A: We don't currently ship to locations outside of the United States, but many of our customers use freight forwarding services to get around this. Please note, using an untrusted 3rd party freight forwarder will void the 30-day seller warranty we offer. Use these freight forwarding services at your own risk.

Q: Will you accept cryptocurrency payments or wire transfers?
A: Yes, but we don't use escrow services and you really shouldn't trust anyone who doesn't let you use escrow. Putting that aside, we treat all of our customers the same regardless of payment method. We have many customers who decide to take a chance and pay with bitcoin/litecoin/ethereum/dash/USD wire transfer and we have always delivered to them on time and provided the same 30-day seller warranty offered to our Amazon customers. We also provide invoices for tax purposes when requested. If you still want to proceed with this option, please contact us directly by emailing sales(at)cryptocrane(dot)com.

Q: Do you offer bulk discounts?
A: Due to the extremely limited quantity of D3s available, we're unable to offer discounts at this time. We're applying a maximum order quantity of 5-units per customer as well to prevent large players from instantly purchasing our entire inventory.

Q: How do you deal with the crazy scammers that attempt to "rent" these from you and then return them after 30-days?
A: We reserve the right to reject returns or charge restocking fees as high as 40%. We have rarely needed to resort to such tactics, but we do get a fair share of scammers.

309  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: S9 Socket connect failed: Connection refused on: July 11, 2017, 07:48:35 PM
You probably know but it takes 5 minutes until your s9 get s connected

Exactly, the "connection refused" message is normal until the miner actually starts. It in itself is not a good indicator of any issues. Check out the kernel log for more details after letting it sit for 5-10 minutes. Also, make sure your pool settings and network settings are correct.
310  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: July 04, 2017, 11:45:40 AM
FYI - It looks like Bitmain is shipping their July 5-15 batch a little early. We have another 100 units that just shipped and are due to be delivered July 6th 10th.

I've noticed a common perception in this thread that the S9 series has a high failure rate. I thought I'd share that our failure rate across 350 units has averaged around 3.9%. Perhaps that is a high failure rate compared to the S7 series, but it's a lot less than this thread would lead you to believe.
311  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: July 04, 2017, 04:29:55 AM
anybody want to sell L3+?

If you don't want to wait, you can pick up some from the July batch on Amazon. They're priced really really high - so it may be better to just grab one of the late Sept batches for 40ltc. Most people purchasing from us on Amazon are doing so because they want to use credit cards and also want all of the built-in consumer protections that Amazon offers. Plus, if you need to return it for some reason, you don't have to ship to China.

T9 - 11.5 TH/s appeared on shelf now but in sold out status. Did I miss anything today/yesterday?! Huh

It was in stock for about an hour. Keep an eye on it if you're interested, they often go back in stock briefly if orders aren't paid on time (within 1 hour).

317  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: January 24, 2017, 01:40:00 PM
Probably around $1400 each.

Should really give a $230 discount on them as that's how much you will lose waiting a month for delivery.

For all of us S9 and T9 buyers it would have been nice to get some coupons like they used to do.

I miss coupons  Cry

...

shipping after a month!
why you sell it now not in 20 Feb

Probably due to the Chinese New Year. They do this each year.
319  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Launches the New Antminer T9 Bitcoin Miner on: January 17, 2017, 02:34:48 PM
I'm definitely going to try these out. I'm hopeful the decreased efficiency is offset by increased reliability.

Update:
Reliability has been great! Not a single failure from the first batch. Reminds me of the S7s.

Update #2:
We've got another 50 T9s arriving the first week of March. Check my signature if you're interested.
320  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Announces the Antminer R4 and APW5 Power Supply, Designed for Silence on: September 02, 2016, 08:06:27 PM
Just received the first batch of APW5 PSUs and R4s. I was a little uncertain about the actual number of 6-pin PCI-e connectors it came with due to some of the images showing only 7 connectors total. I'm pleased to share that there are indeed 14 x 6-pin PCI-e connectors, as originally advertised by Bitmain. The APW5 does appear to be capable of supporting 2 R4s with a single PSU (using 220v power).
