302  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HODL bitcoins, you can do it! Look at HODL camp map to build up strong hands on: February 28, 2024, 09:53:51 AM
In crypto industry feels like it's the only one way to win this game is to hodl
Focus on Bitcoin so you don't complicated things for yourself. As a newbie, if you don't take necessary steps at getting the clarifications, you might think that anything that answer crypto is worth holding. That is how problem starts and you will hate anything crypto with Bitcoin inclusive. So the right world in this thread is Bitcoin, buy and hold as that is the only way. If you hodl anything else, you might end up hold a bag of shitcoins... I hope you don't want that?
303  Other / Off-topic / Re: Should AI replace VAR? on: February 28, 2024, 04:27:39 AM
At the rate AI is being adopted and integrated into various areas of human endeavours,  it is a matter of time before it hits soccer and other sporting activities, after all it is all about making things better. However, such transition will take some time because VAR have to be used for sometime as a new innovation, at least until noticeable weaknesses are seen. In addition, changing an entire critical system of that nature is a long process. I believe we will get there but it will only take some time.
304  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rich or poor gambler, who should risk more? on: February 27, 2024, 09:47:13 PM
I think that it is all a matter of percentage and financial relativity. If a poor man gambles even only 1% of his income, he might not be able to pay his bills. If a rich man does it, then he will still be just as rich as before. The problems only start to arise when either of those men develop a gambling problem. Once that happens, it is not so far to full-blown gambling addiction as well as losing all their money. In the end they will be just as poor as the other, with absolutely nothing in their pockets.
I was thinking this way before but I have come to realise that this is not entirely correct because their are people that do not even have enough money to meet their needs let alone think about gambling. If they put 0.05% of their capital into gambling, it is such a significant amount of money they cannot afford to lose. These set of people are not supposed to gamble because they are actually the people that suffer depression as a result of gambling addiction.

Healthy gambling practice requires that one would have taken care of his basic needs before setting aside part of his funds for gambling. This way, losses will not do much psychological damage to the gambler.
305  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Wins: Your Money Was Returned to You. on: February 27, 2024, 09:42:06 PM
There have been saying that before you win a game in gambling, you would have lost enough funds and that means you didn't win any new or extra money to yourself but the casino return part of your money which you have lost before to you. And some will still say that what about those who have not playing gamble before and they won in their first day in gambling. Well those people newly converts to the gambling system will still dash the casino company that win again because the first time win is always to lure them to the system and making them to perpetual adoration to gamble. And I don't think someone in the gambling industry has as a win win gambling history. Or you wins are bigger than the loss. And all the experiences I have in gambling I have not seen that and also those of my friends who are gamblers have not to me that they only win and there is no loss record in their gambling history. And all the ones I have seen and known, the loses are more than the wins. And when I carefully look at the argument I also accept the assertion that what you win was part of your loss. Is that true? Make your input.
Your tune suggests that gambling is a closed case where gamblers are doom to fail. I try not to read your submission in this direction but the more I try, the more it become impossible not to. I do not completely agree with that conclusion even though I see some sense in sense in it.  There have been evidence of people who have their lives completely transformed through gambling; they won amount they could never made in their lifetime. Maybe you may be suggesting that it was the money their great grandfathers lost that are being returned to them, this way it will become more convincing. What I do believe to be true is that it is possible to win gambling and make a decent living from it, people are doing it and it is doable.
306  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Bull has Started But Not Yet ATH. on: February 27, 2024, 04:56:41 PM
At the pace the market is growing, it is just a matter of few weeks and likely within next month that the a new ATH will be achieved. The market has demonstrated that there is growing rush of fresh capital into Bitcoin and that will not change anytime soon.

Bull run depends on the timeframe
It could be short, mid or long-term
And the way things are all terms are leaning favourably towards a bull run.
If what we have now us not bull run irrespective of the time frame, then I wonder what we will call bull run. We are about $12k away from the ATH and the momentum is still huge yet you believe there is a time frame we will view it and it will be seen as bearish. Like I said before, the present market condition is eminently qualified as bull run.

307  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: February 26, 2024, 07:50:57 PM
What a tight match tonight between AS Roma and Torino FC! I didn't expect anything less of what is happening as I was looking at a draw for the match. The only thing that surprised me was the number of goals they have scored so far which is 3:2. I'm sure that even the bookies never saw such number of goals, hence the reason they gave over 4 odds for over3.5 goals. Well, AS Roma owe their victory tonight to Paulo Dybala whose hat trick was enough to give them the 3 points. By H2H, Roma have been a nightmare to Torino FC because the best the later have gotten against the former is a draw in the previous several meetings. I guess the great record of AS Roma against Torino have remained untainted.
308  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: February 26, 2024, 01:46:06 PM
I wanted them to catch Juventus, but they can't capitalize on important situations. Milan started strong but lost their edge later in the game. Like they had so many chances but only one goal. Seriously, this team should be competing for league entry. And don't mention Pioli. I'm doubting his strategy. Milan risks their position and invites Bologna to overtake them if they keep losing points. Considering their talent, it's frustrating to see. Pioli needs to improve. If the team wants to compete at the top, their mindset must alter
If you ask me, I will say it was an interesting match as both teams gave their best. I was not expecting a different result from the draw even though some people might feel disappointed at AC Milan for failing to defend their 1 goal lead even when they are playing at their home San Siro. No doubt Milan has diminished in form as evident in their loss to Monza in Serie A encounter and to Stade Rennais of France in their Europa league playoff. Furthermore, Atalanta have been in their best form as evident in their unbeaten record for a while now. It even appear that AC Milan was lucky to get a draw from Atalanta who are fighting so hard to win a champions league spot next season. If they win their outstanding match, they will be able to displace Bologna in the 4th position provided they are able to keep the tempo until the end of the season.
309  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A lot of gambling sites are scams ! on: February 26, 2024, 07:00:08 AM
Online betting has become the main concern for the majority of young people, as players flock to casinos forcefully to obtain the largest possible amount of money. There are those who invest thousands and millions of dollars, but there is a serious problem as the majority of sites provide facilities to ensure players’ participation and entice them with large sums of money. Then they steal every cent directly. There are sites that do not target young players, as their victims are those with large amounts of money. Other sites initially deal transparently and seek to gain the trust of the players until they obtain a large audience. Then they begin their hellish plans. So , the majority of gambling sites are unsafe and it's hard to trust them .

How can I choose the best betting site that provides me with a safe betting experience?
Does this site provide a high level of safety for its players?
I need help from those with experience in this field
This is what I have come to realize about the internet: as long as there is original, expect the fakes. This is basically how scammers operate, they mimic the originals. It has become very necessary for anyone venturing into any business that is connected to the internet to be extremely cautious and conscious of the fact that fakes exist and may even be more in number than the originals.

There has also been record of increasing number of scam gambling platforms with some already gotten so much money before they were overwhelmed by accusations. The importance of using reliable casinos can not therefore, be overemphasized. In using new and untested casinos, risk management must be in place in terms of depositing just small amount and keeping it that way for a long time so one can be sure of the casino before putting in bigger amounts.

311  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Please stay away from Sherbet casino, they are scammers (They scammed my $119) on: February 26, 2024, 05:43:21 AM
I found it funny how Nigerian can be accused of forging voters card and NIN, two important IDs that are made almost compulsory for all citizens. Without a NIN, a Nigeria cannot register his mobile phone simcard and this will make it impossible to use a mobile phone. Without a NIN, a Nigerian cannot be enrolled in any national and regional exams or even be admitted into any university through JAMB. I don't know how someone will forge what is mandatory for him to have.

Secondly, how is it necessary to forge voters card when the registration is free and done across all local governments and villages in Nigeria? I do not know how they concluded that you forged IDs.

Assuming they said that those IDs are not accepted, like some companies will specify that they need either drivers license or international passport,  then it would have made more sense but with the excuse they gave, it is really difficult knowing what their basis or intent for such conclusions are.

If I may ask, while signing up in their platform, did you try to glance through their TOS to know if they specify that KYC was mandatory for withdrawal and possible accepted documents? I know some casinos do shift the goal post at the point of withdrawal,  that is why I'm asking.

In conclusion, I do not consider blocking your account a proportionate action even after refusing to reply your emails and messages to their support and reps. Such actions seems unprofessional and do not depict what a global casino that care about their reputation will do. I just hope they will reply your email and suggest a way of getting the issue resolved amicably.
312  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Poverty will reduce if only people can do joint business in Nigeria. on: February 26, 2024, 03:48:30 AM
Why I bring this talk be say. I don observe say most of our people way get money they hardly bring out their money to take do business with the other person, I kw no if na fear or greed dy cus this whole thing. Because if 5 person’s way get like 500k join head together then fit established a business way den fit they share profit together. But for this part of Nigeria we hardly see average people way fit take that kind of step. My people I fit kw dy totally correct oo. But I just say make I talk since I don reason am in a way.
I don't quite agree with the topic of the discussion even though there are some solid points in what you have said. Starting up joint businesses is not the technical way of reducing poverty because without the necessary frameworks that make businesses succeed, joint businesses will crumble just like individual businesses that we mostly have in Nigeria. I think what you meant to say is that there should be circulation of money instead of them being stuck in few peoples accounts. If that be the case,  then you are right and there is no economy that flourishes when there is little money in circulation.

There was a time Japan's economy shrunk as people were saving their monies in banks. Their government noticing this, quickly swang into action by reducing their interest rates even down to negative... what this means is that if you borrow money for business, you will pay back less than what you borrowed as government will help you pay part of the loan. This may sound funny to some Nigerians who are used to paying interest of 15% per month in loan apps  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy. What this actually did to Japan's economy was to stimulate cashflow as money started flowing around, new businesses began to emerge and things began to go in the way their government projected.

If you want to reduce poverty in Nigeria, the first step is to provide the basic amenities like affordable and constant electricity, access road connecting the urban centres to the rural communities, security which is what is seriously missing in Nigeria and good government policies that will not kill businesses like excess taxation and extortion are doing.
313  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HODL bitcoins, you can do it! Look at HODL camp map to build up strong hands on: February 25, 2024, 08:17:11 PM
It is difficult to know what level of adoption bitcoin has, and I have my doubts that it has even reached 1% of the world's population, even though we have rich folks and rich institutions currently coming into bitcoin, including some of them entering through the newly approved Spot ETFs.  These guys are neither imuned from gambling tendencies or making mistakes of the past, including but not limited to mistakes made that led up to a lot of the 2022 cascading crashes of Terra/Luna, Celsius, Blockfi, 3AC, Voyager, FTX, Alameda Research,  Genesis (perhaps involving Grayscale) and probably some others that I am forgetting about...

Alts are launched with so many attractive features. They roam around for sometimes and then lost in the darkness forever. I had a crush on MATIC (POLYGON) last year after reading its features like side chains, low fees and more. The token is still there but wasn't able to take off despite so much marketing about its attractive features and now the team is launching new token with new features to generate more capital. The story may be different for other alts but the aim of all Alts are more or less same. There is no Alt that has survived the length of Bitcoin.
I still remember several tokens I invested in those days that got me entangled in those jargons. First they will launch their token, use that to collect money from people and they list their glorified token in exchange which will die immediately or after some few manipulations by the founders until at least they liquidate their holdings. After this stage, they will then launch worthless NFTs backed by huge marketing to collect more money from unsuspecting victims until the hype will die and the team will move on to the next project.

Wish I knew what I know now, those funds I wasted would have been used to build a decent Bitcoin portfolio that would have made me financially comfortable today. I only find consolation in the fact that I did not abandon this entire concept and I have also found courage to start building my Bitcoin portfolio when I did. Indeed, Bitcoin is the way forward, the earlier anyone avoid the distractions with these numerous coins, the better.
314  Other / Meta / Re: Hey Theymos, There Should Be a Demotion Button on: February 25, 2024, 06:25:14 AM
If you have been paying attention, you will notice that the DT system is already generating so much hates and dividing us as a Bitcoin community instead of uniting. This is because some DT members are being accused of abusing the system and using their powers for their personal vendetta.

Imagine adding a demerit system, that will bring nothing but chaos.  I don't see it helping the forum or contributing in any way.

It can be distressing to new members reading some of the posts from old members who should be knowledgeable but unfortunately bland. The quality of reasoning (and posts)  of many Legendary members is  appalling. This could be due to the fact that they were promoted before the introduction of the merit system or they simply bought a high-ranked account to spew rubbish on the forum.
The forum have rules against spamming and if you notice anyone committing same, kindly use the report button and it will be handled by the admins.

With the rampancy of signature campaigns, the tendency for participants to type to meet quota (even if they don’t really make sense is high). This is why I think that a demotion (or demerit) button is appropriate. This would mitigate the preponderance of the disappointment in reading posts from some so-ranked Legendary sounding like it’s from a 12-year old.
It is up to the campaign managers to decide who is making quality post and who isn't and to remove the later because they have the right and power to do so. Signature campaigns are highly competitive and managers go for those they consider the best to add value to the business they were contracted to promote. I believe anyone still in any campaign meets the expectations of the manager and that should not be your concern.

A ranking system should reflect competence, integrity and credibility of those it is bestowed upon. Unfortunately, the BTT system should be stremlined and made balanced through the implementation of necessary trade-offs. A system that promotes but never demotes never gets the best of its men. Let’s make this happen
Too many rules will eventually kill the forum. I think we already have enough rules already so we don't need new and controversial one like you suggested.
315  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: February 24, 2024, 06:23:48 PM
The panorama now in the Bitcoin market is very changing, now what I saw from an article that more than $540M was moved from the exchanges, this means many things, I think they moved it because they want to put that money safely so they can wait for the Halving effect, the bitcoin ETF effect, because the real bullish movement has not happened.

To all this it can be said that those who have not reacted by buying bitcoin, I do not know what they are waiting for, it may be that this movement for some traders brings fear and they start to sell and this triggers the bitcoin to drop in price, if so it is a tremendous opportunity to buy, because what is coming is very good, you have to be attentive.
A lot if not all of us are actually long term holders and not perturbed by whatever anyone does with their Bitcoin, neither do we entertain fear of dump in price by some whales. If they dump their Bitcoin and price goes down, it is to our advantage because it means we will be getting more Bitcoin for the same fiat already budgeted for Bitcoin. Bitcoin have passed the stage where people still doubt if it will collapse and price drop to zero, so the only thing left for Bitcoin is to continue to grow in price as more people get involved in struggling for their share of the 21 million Bitcoin. The rise may not happen immediately, it might take time and that is not a problem because we have more than enough  time to wait as long term hodlers.

Instead of bothering what people who moved their Bitcoin from exchange will do with their Bitcoin, consider buy more Bitcoin because halving is coming and ETF just go approved, so it can only mean that it is about to go up beyond predictions.... meanwhile there is no guarantee for this, we can only speculate.

No doubt scammers use different formats to target their victims and gambling have become one of the means of achieving that. It is not surprising because anything that involves money or have the tendency of generating fast money is always a target vehicle for scammers who will want to corrupt the originals. Therefore, adequate care must be taken to avoid falling victims to scammers.

Choosing a reputable betting site is the most important aspect of the gambling process because a wrong decision with a betting site will frustrate all the efforts at winning and even make the gambler incur total loss of assets. One of the ways of protecting yourself from scammers is by using reputable casinos, I mean casinos that are regulated and have earned the trust of people. There are are many of them out there including the one whose signature I'm wearing. So, start by establishing that your betting site is registered and regulated, then read their TOS and ensure they aligns with your expectations, as soon as that is done, the chances of you falling into scams becomes reduced.
317  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: February 24, 2024, 03:42:37 PM
Hojlund is said to be injured, is this true? If it is then this is a really important loss for Manchester United in their game today. They are going to host Fulham and they would have really made use of Hojlund's amazing form in the recent times. But I still want to believe in them to beat Fulham at Old Trafford today.  Smiley

Manchester United's recent form is really impressive. They are on a winning streak of four games and this is another game that they can maintain this streak. Because Fulham are far away from being consistent. They are even the second worst away team in the league. I don't think they can steal any points.
Honestly Man Utd would miss the services of injured and in-form Hojlund who had been scoring goals for the club consistently though he would be out for three weeks, however I expect Rashford to take up the striker role against Fulham today of course any player can also score for the team because it's a must win match for the Red devils and the team playing at Old Trafford is an advantage thus a win keep the team to keep on pushing for top 4 spot having been very impressive in their previous matches though if they wins today there is another crucial match against Man City next week a derby match whose outcome would be also important to their UCL qualification.
You can actually feel the impact of it as the match is ongoing. Fulham have had more goal attempts than Manchester United with Alex Iwobi giving them the greatest pressure in the match. Onana have managed to save a couple of goals including the R2 short of Andreas. I'm not seeing the domineering performance that I expected from Manchester United considering that they are playing at hold, Old Trafford. I know 36 minutes of play is not enough time to determine the overall tempo of the match but it is enough time for both sides to settle down and showcase what they have in stock. A first half draw will likely be the outcome of the match.

Even without Höjlund, Manchester United will win this match. I mean, if they want to be in the top four, they have to win. In recent games, even if they concede goals, they score a lot of goals and win. That's why defensive mistakes are not a big problem.
I think Aston Villa will also win, so the points difference will not decrease. Nottingham Forest cannot pose a serious threat. The team that has lost 3 games in a row at Villa Park wouldn't allow the 4th one to happen. Also Watkins is in great shape.
Man U will win this match but it's not that easy to win the match from Fulham because Man u will choke at any moment without any reason this is what they face in this season.
AV won the match with Notmm Forest as AV performance at home ground is pretty good.
If you are actually watching the match, I'm sure your opinion will change because they are not playing what is expected of them and what will guarantee that they will win the match. Unless they will come back better in second half after receiving some instructions from their coach. Else, what I'm seeing is not impressive and leaves me in doubt as to if Manchester United will be able to collect the 3 points.
318  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The odds we can get on our side. on: February 24, 2024, 07:55:01 AM
1. Play those sports or those types of betting that allow only 2 outcomes, not 3. For example, in tennis there are no draws and, accordingly, your chances of a favorable outcome increase slightly. In football, if you bet on one team winning, you must take into account that there can be 2 more outcomes - the other team winning or a draw. All other things being equal, it is more difficult to guess one outcome out of three than out of two. Therefore, in football, we can bet either on the total (over or under), or on 2 outcomes: the victory of one team on one side or the victory of the other team and a draw on the other side.
playing sports that have only two options is the height of gambling and presents a compounded risk when you want to accumulate to raise bigger odds. Instead of this option, sports that have double chance, handicap, goals and multiple options like over certain points in a set/half actually reduces this risk. There is an option in football where you just predict that a certain team will score, it doesn't matter if the lose the match, as soon as they score, you are gamed.

4. Consider the motivation of players and teams within the tournament. I'm talking about matches where a team or player can afford to lose without much consequence to their place. That is, there are significant matches, and there are those that do not decide anything. In such matches, teams and players do not have much motivation to play.
This is very important because that will determine how determined they will be to win the match. This is why it is important to follow the news of any sports event we want to gamble on. There might be internal crisis that can mess up the morale of the players and until one check, it will remain hidden. T
319  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: February 23, 2024, 09:55:39 PM
-snip-
Though the game is not over yet but I have no fear after picking Leverkusen to still win the game before they finally get a second goal which was scored by Robert Andrich. Leverkusen has the advantage of winning the game regardless of the fact that they are playing at home their performance also shows how serious they are cause they are dominating in the game, they are very happy to set the record should they win the game I believe it's going to be another record for the team especially their young coach xabi Alonso who became frustrated when his team was still battling 1:1 with the away team but after receiving a yellow card he became a bit relaxed but now his team has taken the lead.
The match is over and Leverkunsen managed to score a tough win today against Mainz. Currently Leverkusen has a difference of 11 points over Bayern Munich and this might make Leverkusen more comfortable at the top of the standings. Munich is suffering and seems to be failing in the Bundesliga this season, some say this is Kane's curse.
I'm very happy that Bayern Leverkusen was able to win the match after Mainz scared me with their 5 minutes interval equalizer they got at the 8th minutes. Leverkusen really need to win the league this season because they have put in a lot of efforts and commitment to the league and it is obvious luck is also on their side because Bayern Munic that is supposed to be their contender has been struggling both in their domestic league and external competitions. If Bayern Leverkusen remain consistent in collecting their 3 points as they are doing, the gap between them and Munic will widen and perhaps that will make them win the league.

From my little activeness over here in the forum and my involvement in gambling I have been seeing some changes in me and it's gradually beginning not to please me anymore I don't know If I will say I am becoming too emotional with my funds but sometimes it's very painful to place a bet for about 2 to 5 consecutive times no winning and this is what is beginning to me make feels sad. I know is a game of luck but sometimes whatever we do and not feels happy we should try to quit it.
It is not peculiar to you my dear Gold, it is normal to experience some changes in your mood when you are actively engaged in gambling. For instance, there is a special feeling of joy when there is winning and some feeling of disappointment when there is loss. No matter how well we try to pretend that losses are good, it feels a little bad when we lose our money. These feelings are intensified when either of the scenarios happens consistently; if it is winning that happens consistently, the joy is unmatched and can somehow lead to complacency. On the other hand, if it is losses that is prolonged, the pain can lead to depression if not managed. So the concern is what changes are you noticing? Are they as a result of consistent losses?  Whatever be the case, you must know that it is normal to have those feelings as a consistent gambler.
