301  Economy / Speculation / Re: Slow gains and stability on: June 10, 2017, 01:07:49 AM
The last couple weeks we have seen a relative stable price with slow upticks. Many prefer to see this rather than huge instant rises. I like the fact we have been holding in in the 2700 to 2800 range last several days. We know from past summer is a quiet period. If we stay at this range through summer I would be quite happy.
Get through August unscathed then gain some momentum heading into the latter half of the year!

August is when the User Activated Soft Fork activation will start dominating crypto headlines.
Then again there will be an increase in volatility. I too am satisfied with the stable and steady growth upwards.
302  Economy / Economics / Re: Will third world country hold their foreign reserve in bitcoin against Dollar? on: June 10, 2017, 01:01:54 AM
Most of the third world country hold their foreign reserve  in dollar. Do you think any of these third world country will accept Bitcoin and equally holds their foreign reserve in bitcoin instead of dollar form? In your own opinion what do you think will happen to such economy both in terms of positive and negative effects?

Nope. Why would they do so? Foreign reserves are meant to protect their country against a crisis.
If Bitcoin drops suddenly, it could trigger a crisis.  Tongue

Bangladesh won by 5 wickets.World class performance by the middle orders.Nothing to say but congratulations to team Bangladesh.
Oh my God I can't believe this upset, I am sure that new Zealand was out off the icc champions trophy now, very well done by bangaladesh team.

Sensational playing by Bangladesh. You don't expect Bangladesh to stitch up partnerships in excess of $200. But this is exactly what they did, after being 33/4 at one stage. New Zealand must be rueing the rain that robbed them of victory over Australia and gave Bangladesh a point against Australia.
304  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Replace by Fee Transaction on: June 04, 2017, 07:22:30 AM
i believe electrum recognizes the lower amount as your change address so it deducts the additional fee from (what it thinks) is the change.
i'm afraid if the GUI doesn't offer selecting the output to reduce (i don't have any RBF tx to check) and if what i said above is true, the only way is to manually edit the transaction and sign it again.

Is this really the case? If true, then enabling the GUI to choose which output to decrease while increasing the fees would be helpful.
The software shouldn't presume which output is the change and which output is not.
305  Economy / Speculation / Re: Took just 3 months to double in price. Bubble!!!!! on: June 04, 2017, 05:40:47 AM
Well if this 'bubble pops' and the value crashes, it's buy time for everyone, so another bubble begins  Smiley

That has been the recurring theme with Bitcoin. If you have some money, just wait for a correction before you buy.
In the long-term, the trend of bitcoin's price can be in only one direction - up.
306  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Bitcoin A Bubble? Why many people are looking at this through the wrong lens on: June 04, 2017, 03:09:34 AM
Equity value is tied to a balance sheet of ______.
Currency value is tied to the balance sheet of a nation.
The USA being $20 trillion in debt can be a case for the US dollar being a bubble.
The european union being $12 trillion in debt can be a case for the euro being a bubble.
Currency bubbles do exist similar to equity bubbles.
That said he made a very good point about the unlikelihood of sellers outnumbering buyers due to many btc users being long term buy & hold.

The number of sellers and buyers depends on the price. When the price of Bitcoin hit $1300 in 2013, the number of sellers easily outnumbered the buyers. If the price hits $10k this year, I am sure you will see truckloads of sellers.
307  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: June 04, 2017, 03:07:16 AM
Tomorrow we have India and Pakistan, two of the bitter rivals in cricket and one of the rare occasion as they only face each other during ICC tournaments because of the tensions between the two nations and i expect good cricket even though Pakistan is not in the best of form when it comes to top teams.

Pakistan are ranked eighth in the ICC ODI rankings and just barely made it to the Champions Trophy tournament. India would be clear favourites and have the big strokemakers in their team. As usual, it will be a contest between Indian batsmen and Pakistani bowlers.

Yesterday match bad luck for NZ I think they had a chance to win the game but rain spoiled that. And yes rain may disturb other games also. Today's game SA vs SL, of course, SA is a hot fav in this game. In practice match, SL scored 350 runs against NZ, but they lost that game. So it looks like SL bowling is weak. I will go for SA.

South Africa have batted strongly, scoring 299/6 in their 50 overs. Amla scored a fine century. The pitch initially looked tough to bat on, but has become flatter as the day progressed. I would say both Sri Lanka and South Africa have equal chances of winning this match at this point.

I dont think that Sri Lanka have any chances as South Africa have a good bowling attack and i am going for South Africa winning from starting.

South Africa have a good bowling team and they definitely are the pre-match favourites.
But if you look at Sri Lanka's batting performance in the warm up matches - they scored 318 against Australia and 356 against New Zealand. So scoring big runs isn't really a problem for them.

310  Other / Off-topic / Re: Young people should go all in on bitcoin on: June 03, 2017, 01:31:06 PM
Yeah you have a good point that all of the people should go to the crypto world and invest in your wallet. They will all gain a large amount of profit in the near future if they do that.

Nope, the reason is not that. The hope that you will gain a large amount of profit in the near term is greed. If that is the case, everybody (young and old) can invest.
If anything, in the long term the prospects of bitcoin look bright. So even if bitcoin price crashes now, young people can wait out the period of low prices and profit in the long run.
311  Economy / Speculation / Re: If They Solve the BTC Scaling Problem (Soon and Correctly), How High Do We Go? on: June 03, 2017, 01:20:16 PM
I foresee this thread getting replies for the next 3 years.  Grin
If there is a solution (some improvement at least) to the scaling problem, then I think that the price could double.
We could see $5000 levels soon.
312  Economy / Economics / Re: Variable supply coin, new customers start with free coins. Economically sound? on: June 03, 2017, 01:16:57 PM
Hello,

I've been working on a new currency for a while now.

The idea is that because we can create very accurate decentralized IDs for our users, we can give new users their share of a new currency as we create it. Some work is involved with this creation process, so they earn it in exchange.

The potential issue is will new users claim their coins, then dump them on the market and walk away meaning that this process will cause heavy inflation. My argument is that we still have a per user value, which should rise with time due to increasing network effect and the more people they can use their money with. And as long as the percentage of people dumping, percentage of people using it as a currency, and percentage of people investing remains approximately the same, this should actually lead to more stable prices but gradually drift upward

I would love to discuss this with some economists.

Any thoughts?

If you are giving "free" coins to users, then there will be a tendency to dump. If the work involved in creating a new decentralized ID is too tedious, then you will not get many new users. If it is not, then you will get new users but there will be a tendency to dump. It is a tough trade off.
313  Economy / Economics / Re: BTC a chance to change the deadlock of 1% rich peple holding FIAT capital on: June 03, 2017, 02:16:09 AM
No, no and no...
BTC cannot prevent the concentration of income in top bracket or we say top 1% rich club. Generally we consider those to be rich who have large amount of fiat wealth, etc. So now if we consider dominance of BTC over fiat nothing would change as there are enough holders in case of BTC with numerous amount and people who enter market now will hardly able to hold BTC as equal to earlier adopters. This will make the wedge in case of BTC too as similar to fiat.

At least the top 1% holders of fiat and top 1% of holders of bitcoin are different. Bitcoin may redistribute wealth, but it is possible that we would still have a standard 80-20 distribution curve, with a different set of people.
That isn't too bad, in my view.
314  Economy / Speculation / Re: What we are experiencing right now is the norm on: June 03, 2017, 02:09:14 AM
Usually, at this time of year, we experience a quiet time (of summer). I was checking Bitcoin price charts and I have noticed that Bitcoin price calms down (nearly stable, just the normal fluctuations) before the end of may, and starts rising again in the mid of June, and dumps again in the mid of July, stays calm for a while, then start rising again at the beginning of September.

So I think buying Bitcoin at the best price would be either now or in July.

Bitcoin does not follow a set pattern. Plus there are hardly enough data points to get a conclusive inference.
People have tried to attribute trading patterns - after halving the price rises, in a calendar year the price rises, etc.
But give it enough time and there will be exceptions to observed patterns.
315  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: June 03, 2017, 02:05:34 AM
How unfortunate for NZ. They made 291 runs which was more than what was expected and then the match got delayed due to rain. Australia were looking so weak after losing 3 wickets and as we assumed, the team may have lost the match instead of winning it. NZ must be cursing the match as this could have been a major booster for them.

Ya it is true that Newzeland were unlucky as from winning the match they got only 1 point and Australia will be happy and praying to god for saving them from shame of loss. Now tommorrow will be a interesting match between Sri Lanka vs south africa.

Clearly a disappointing result for New Zealand. They would have been comfortably placed in the group, if they had beaten Australia.
Another washout for either of the teams (say against Bangladesh) might put them out of the tournament. We have to blame the ICC for the scheduling of these matches. I know that the available slots are limited, but do we have to play in England at this time?
316  Bitcoin / Electrum / Replace by Fee Transaction on: June 01, 2017, 12:14:03 AM
I have replaceable-by-fee transaction, which is unconfirmed and I would like to increase the fees.

A --> B + C (Change)

In my case, C is greater than B.
When I try to increase the fees, the new transaction proposed reduces B and increases the fees. Is there a way to choose which output to reduce while increasing the fees?
317  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: May 31, 2017, 03:58:12 PM
Tomorrow the 1st Champions Trophy match is going to start in group A b/w England vs Bangladesh. I think Eng will win this match. Ban lost yesterday very poorly against India. And their batting lineup is very poor. England just finished series against South Africa. They are in good form, so Tomorrow match England is going to win is my prediction. Any other guess in this match.

For the first match, England are overwhelming favourites. Bangladesh will find it tough to compete in foreign, seaming conditions. We saw how the Indian pace bowlers troubled Bangladesh. England will have the home advantage as well.
318  Economy / Economics / Re: Invest your bitcoins. on: May 31, 2017, 03:51:31 PM
From your list of investing bitcoin, I just invest in poloniex from low capital and i just earn triple of my capital. I remind here that some sites are legit in first then when they got your trust and invest a big amount, they will run or scam of your investment.

Poloniex is an exchange. Or do you have an opportunity to actually invest in Poloniex equity as well?
I assume you got lucky because of the appreciation in alt prices. This won't happen every time.
319  Economy / Speculation / Re: If you had the knowledge back in 2011 on: May 30, 2017, 01:27:16 PM
I'm just curious, but if you were given chance to invest in Bitcon back in 2011 (or early 2012), how much would be the optimal ammount to both a) not raise questions and b) not intervene with the progress of Bitcoin's appreciation? I mean couldn't one person just out of the blue investing too much money into the currency somehow hurt the progress of its rapid growth over several upcoming years? Also - aside from sports betting - what would be some other good investment opportunities for a normal person back in 2010-early 2012? Thanks for any advice

its for a school project

I would have invested around $500 in Bitcoin. Any amount higher than that would hurt me bad if I lost it.
So even if I had the foresight, I wouldn't have invested more than what I could afford to lose.
320  Economy / Economics / Re: Can you really make money on Forex? on: May 30, 2017, 01:18:17 PM
First in forex we have to know how to buy or sell currency to get money, and actually its way is the same with the way of buying and selling stock as usual, by way of treding and others

There is a big difference because Central Banks and Governments periodically influence the market. They might buy / sell currency to curb volatility or to give direction to the market. If the Chinese government decides that the yuan is overvalued, there is no way you are going to make money by trading against it.
