301  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why doesn't gox have money in their Dwolla????? on: October 11, 2011, 06:02:45 AM
Hello,

We apologize for the delay with Dwolla withdrawals. We have already transferred funds into our account last week, and all Dwolla transfers will be processed shortly.

1) In another thread, MtGox Support stated that their Dwolla account was depleted in the past 24-48 hours from all the unlocked accounts withdrawing funds.
2) In this and other threads, MtGox support claims that they sent money to their Dwolla account last week to make withdrawals available. How was it empty 5 days ago, then suddenly flush enough to allow large withdrawals from apparently unlocked accounts in the past 24 hours (can anyone here verify they've withdrawn USD from MtGox in the past 24-48 hours?), and now there's more money apparently being deposited? It seems REALLY fishy, MtGox Support. Really fishy.

MtGox Support - You need to do a better job of keeping your story straight.

-Jonathan

Hello Jonathan,

We had to transfer funds to our Dwolla account several times since last week due to the unexpected large volume of withdrawals made from all of the unlocked accounts. We thank you for your patience with this issue. If you have further inquiries, please contact the Mt.Gox Support at Zendesk.

303  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MTGOX - SEPA transfers takes 7 business days on: October 11, 2011, 05:46:17 AM
Hello,

We apologize for the SEPA transfer delays. Sometimes it may take longer than 2-3 business days depending on user's banks.
304  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do NOT use MtGox, they have NO customer service AT ALL on: October 11, 2011, 05:14:36 AM
In response to increased incidence of phishing and hacking attempts made against Mt.Gox and its users, stricter security precautions have been implemented to protect our users and their funds. Should suspicious activity be detected in relation to an Mt.Gox account, the ability to withdraw funds will be temporarily suspended until it can be confirmed that the owner of the account is in fact still in control.  Please login onto the Mt.Gox page and visit https://www.mtgox.com/forms/verification to start the identification process.

If you wish to submit identification documentation to facilitate the account review process and/or increase your daily withdrawal limit, please visit the website also.
305  Economy / Marketplace / Re: MtGox - Dwolla Problems? on: October 11, 2011, 04:08:53 AM
This has me a bit worried too. And also the part about frozen accounts? What is going on here? I think it is safe to say that without Mt. Gox bitcoins will lose about 90% of their value overnight.

We apologize for the delay. Due to a large number of Mt.Gox users having their accounts unfrozen, we experienced a large volume of withdrawals that was above the our average amount.

We apologize for the delay all users have been experiencing with getting their accounts reviewed. We have set up a new system to approve all requests which should speed up the process. Please visit http://www.mtgox.com/forms/verification if your account has not been approved yet.

I conditionally accept your apology for the unnecessary delays.

I have visited http://www.mtgox.com/forms/verification and uploaded files, as I stated in an earlier post in this thread.

 W I L L   Y O U   P L E A S E   R E S P O N D   T O   M Y   R E Q U E S T   F O R   A   T I M E S C A L E ?

I have asked several times now, and every time you answer in terms of a meaningless generality. Please give a real answer, even if only to tell me that you are not going to give a real answer.

Am I to expect the process, which has already taken 3 weeks, to take

   Another day?
   Another week?
   An additional month?
   A year?
Forever? (equivalent to you stealing my BTC)

Also, what are the rules for this stuff? I have been trading Bitcoins on Gox for many months, and have been able to withdraw both Bitcoins and cash. Then, one day, for no obvious reason, without any warning, I am told that my account is pending review and I have to jump through hoops. Can you tell me what triggered this so I know what not to do again?

To be honest, I do not think it is unreasonable for customers of a currency exchange to be given a clear statement of the rules, and notified, with opportunity to withdraw if unhappy, when/if the rules change.

We are processing more of the requests tomorrow, so your account should be verified (if all necessary documents are in place) within 24 hours.

Hello cdb000,

Please be aware that due to the sudden increase in AML requests, processing of submitted documentation has become slightly delayed. We thank our users for their continued patience and support as we adjust to the requirements which have been obligated upon Mt.Gox.
312  Economy / Marketplace / Re: MtGox - Dwolla Problems? on: October 06, 2011, 01:53:58 AM
Currently, dwolla withdrawals are delayed due to insufficient funds in our dwolla account. We have transferred funds to our dwolla account to resolve this issue. All pending withdrawals will be processed within 2-5 days. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience through this matter. If customers are in urgent need of the funds, please contact Mt.Gox Support and we will cancel the transaction.
313  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: mtgox: 0.02 bitcoin missed on: October 05, 2011, 09:43:56 AM
Hello qikaifu,

Did you make a deposit or a withdrawal to Mt.Gox? We see that you made a deposit of 0.02 BTC to your Mt.Gox account on Mon 03 Oct 2011 01:23:50 PM JST.
314  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Has anyone successfully withdrawn USD or BTC from Mtgox since September 22? on: October 05, 2011, 09:37:59 AM
As you may be aware, a number of user accounts have been suspended as a result of recently implemented tightened security measures which have identified these accounts as showing suspicious activity. These measures have been brought into place at the insistence of a number of banking and policing entities after an increase in the incidence of fraud, phishing attacks and money laundering being carried out using bitcoins to mask illegal transactions.

Wait, let's try to understand this better. I hope you can answer the following questions:

Do you warn your costumers, before they join (+ an e-mail to all those who joined before such policy change), that they may be required to provide identification in order to use your services?

In case not everyone has agreed upon this rule of "you may need provide IDs", what will you do to somebody's frozen account if the owner rightfully denies to provide you his IDs?

Are you giving the information you collect to third party entities? If yes, have you prevented the concerned costumers, telling which third parties are receiving their data? Have they previously agreed on that?

Thanks

Hello EhVedadoOAnonimato,

If users do not want to submit their personal identifications and documentations to unfreeze their accounts, they may do so. Please be aware that we will eventually return all funds to the users whose accounts are frozen, but the date of revival is still undetermined.

Once gathered, the documentation in question is held on a secure data store. Any submitted information will not be shared by any third party under any circumstance, except where Mt.Gox is legally obliged to do so at the instigation of a police investigation.

How long does the process take once documents have been submitted to increase the limit?
How many weeks?
thanks

It will depend on whether you have submitted all of the necessary documents, and the current number of all submitted requests. We will try our best to process AML requests as fast as possible.

We have posted an announcement as well as an explanation of the new security measures on https://mtgox.zendesk.com/home

All of the information gathered is safe. The documentation in question is held on a secure data store. Any submitted information will not be shared by any third party under any circumstance, except where Mt.Gox is legally obliged to do so at the instigation of a police investigation.

You haven't answered the most important question: "In case not everyone has agreed upon this rule of "you may need provide IDs", what will you do to somebody's frozen account if the owner rightfully denies to provide you his IDs?"

This is a new security measure to ensure that all users accessing Mt.Gox are indeed the rightful owners. Without providing their identifications, we can not judge whether the correct owner or a hacker is trying to gain access. In order to protect the user's funds on Mt.Gox, we can not unfreeze their accounts.

I've been waiting a week and a half. I sent my supporting documents 7 times, and kept on getting emails back that "they hadn't received them".

Is it possible that MtGox is insolvent, and is perpetuating the AML scheme to lock bitcoins up as a last ditch effort to keep its doors open?

Hello Jonathan,

We apologize that you have been struggling with the process. Are you attaching both the ID and the utility document to the email? Please try again by following the instructions here:

Around that time many accounts seem to have been put on hold, mine included.  Despite my sending in the requested documentation the account is still frozen for withdrawls (I can still trade however).

Have you been able to withdraw USD or BTC from your MtGox account?

Have you been able to get it unfrozen, if it was frozen at this time?

So, they keep blocking people's account to then require ID information? Do they at least say they may do such a thing when the account is created? They can't just block your money and then go requiring stuff to release it, if this is not part of the initial contract.

And if you don't want to identify yourself, then what, they just keep your money forever?

Watch out people. Next thing they'll be gladly reporting all your transaction data to the IRS-equivalent of your country...
