301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buy Low, Sell High on: November 15, 2020, 01:46:15 PM
That is a trend in the market, people are following others to buy and sell. Only those who believe bitcoin will rise at a certain period have bought bitcoin when it was $3k. But humans nature tends to greedy and not be patient. Fomo create new highs, a good thing for whoever buys at a lower price, even if someone buys bitcoin at the current price then wait for $20k, still a good entry point to make a profit.
302  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The last time we saw 16K on Bitcoin price on: November 15, 2020, 05:15:05 AM
altcoins can't keep up with bitcoin even after bitcoin reach $16k, most of my altcoins holding still in loss in the portfolio.
Trading altcoins is a losing game, if bitcoin price rise up, altcoins price seems to increase a little bit, but if bitcoin drop, altcoins decrease even deeper.
Only a few altcoins seem to survive and tend to go up in price regardless of the declining bitcoin price.
303  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HODL ₿itcoin for Life, not for Lifetime. on: November 15, 2020, 04:26:26 AM
The same thing in my mind, I was hoping for a higher price in 2017 while holding a good amount of bitcoin, when it plummeted, I thought it will rise again and didn't sell, however it was a wrong decision. What happened in 2017 may be repeated again in 2021 after bitcoin reach a new ATH, at that time many people will sell out and probably institutional-investors as well. Although we don't know how much the highest price will be, therefore do not regret selling not at the peak.
304  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Will PayPal be a new crypto-exchange? on: November 14, 2020, 11:59:38 PM
Agree about 346M users and I myself have a PayPal account, that's a big step for adoption. it's still lacks some features that regular exchanges have but it maybe just the beginning or they can easily establish a partnership (or buy) with some platfrom

Yes, they have been trying to acquire a crypto asset custody firm such as BitGo or Paypal could buy other firms.
Since PayPal is new in this field, they require a subsidiary to take care of these things. It would be better if Paypal can overcome their shortcomings and has features like regular exchanges such as trade and withdraw cryptocurrencies with lower fees.
305  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can bitcoin get an insurance? on: November 14, 2020, 02:26:52 PM
Yes, there is insurance exactly for bitcoin holders and some exchanges have an agreement with the insurance companies in case hacks ever happens.
Bitcoin isn't vulnerable to be hacked but the problem is the owner, phishing sites are the most common way to scam people, hence we have to learn how to store bitcoin in a save way, especially a huge portion in a wallet isn't meant to be stored in online wallet or exchanges.
306  Economy / Economics / Re: Biden and Cryoto on: November 13, 2020, 09:00:29 PM
Why should Biden have any influence on the cryptocurrency? This old man is almost 80 years old... I don't think he can think of anything about it! The main thing is that his advisors do not start telling him about terrorists and drug dealers using bitcoins and other horrors! Cheesy
Bitcoin will survive Biden and more than a dozen generations of US presidents, and nothing will happen to it! Wink
Totally agree. There is no connection between Bitcoin and this old man. Furthermore, i have never seen any Us president doing somthing with bitcoin.

I believe that bitcoin keeps developing no mstter who us the leader of thr US. Ĺ

Unless they emanate regulations that are detrimental to bitcoin and exchanges, it would affect the market significantly, but yeah they have never done this.
No point to bother exchanges as they bring an open book for everyone involved in cryptocurrency and paying good taxes as well.
Any crime involving bitcoin will result in the authorities confiscating it for auction later, good funds for the country.
307  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin break its previous ATH record of 20K before end of 2020? on: November 12, 2020, 07:10:24 PM
Not that too optimistic for bitcoin to reach the ATH as of this year and we cant just focused out on up prices but also theres always the tendency of corrections.

Honestly, we are really just moving too fast considering that we are just in 10k price on previous months and now we are almost hitting 16k which the movement is really not that organic in my own opinion

but somehow basing up on the sentiments or adoption news then we can presume that it might be the main reason for such up but always be having that risk management because we arent just talking about
price increase here.

Correct, one of the main things in investment is risk management, too much advice says 'do not invest more than you can afford to lose'.
People can't haphazardly invest in something they don't know, but we do know what bitcoin is and what it's capable of achieving.
Although it can't reach a new ATH this year, yet it still manages to break $16K resistance, do you think it will stop at this price? Personally, I would say, based on probability and predictions, bitcoin should be able to achieve at least a minimum of $19K by the end of the year.
308  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I gathered every Satoshi Nakamoto thread. on: November 11, 2020, 10:16:35 PM
BTCump

Ahahaha, nice one, keep doing this once or 2 times a month Cheesy

After read this one : https://www.mail-archive.com/cryptography@metzdowd.com/msg09967.html I thought, it's worth the time to read all of this to find some strings and connection to my curiosity about the founder. He explained how secure bitcoin network, basically the ASICs power of 'honest' miners, consequently lead us to a 51% attack.
it feels different to read all those emails which you know written by them.
309  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin break its previous ATH record of 20K before end of 2020? on: November 11, 2020, 06:45:02 PM
Even if we can't break before 2020 ends, we could wait a bit more can't we? I mean I would suggest not buying from here because we are already very high and would suggest everyone to wait a bit until we get down a bit in order to make some profit, but if we are not doing that and still buying, at least we could wait a big longer.

Right now price is $15k+ and that means we need to stay above that at least to make a profit, I believe $15k+ will not be rare in the future so even if 2020 doesn't bring you profit, 2021 will and even though it is highly unlikely that 2021 will never be above $15k, 2022 will certainly be. So just buy and hold, the longer you hold the bigger possibility that you will have a profit and $20k+ price, we don't know when, maybe in a week, maybe in a year but it will happen for sure.

if you believe bitcoin could and will reach that point, then why hesitate to buy? $16K is in sight, the next target is $17K, like you said, just buy and wait for bitcoin to break $20K, even if we sell at $19,800 should generate huge profits depend on how much you are willing to spend at this time. However, the potential of bitcoin is not just $20K, the probability of reaching $21K before the end of this year is quite high.
310  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price to reach $17k? on: November 11, 2020, 09:36:53 AM
The daily chart shows you have missed the train already but it is very likely that btc will be above 17k because it is very near target if I compare it with the support at @13700. All traders who are fomo'ing in this market shows that we are in for some huge price action and if a drop happens, it will be bigger than the pump. So they keep on buying and the whales too are eating up some high volume sell candles.

Let us see then if it rises or it crashes, though I am positive with the rise to continue and more stable it gets at current price better so that it can sustain the drop and not be a major one if correction had to happen or big investors sell before the new year. Let us hope it can cross 17k or be near that by year end.

A big drop may follow after bitcoin reach a new ATH, since bitcoin price increase gradually instead of instant hence the support levels are more robust than before.
At this point, short is riskier than long position because bitcoin shows the sign of uptrend pattern isn't over yet.
Bitcoin may stay in this sideways pattern for a week before starts to climb higher, just enjoy the current price while it lasts, buys it.
311  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: We need more decentralized stablecoins on: November 11, 2020, 02:59:23 AM
stablecoins freezing addresses at will is a crime. so why should we believe in a coin like this. we should believe in decentralized stablecoins. security of funds is a top priority, as long as the system is centrally controlled funds will never be safe. the problem now is the lack of adoption of decentralized stablecoins in today's society. for that we must encourage adoption so that it can be realized more quickly.

They weren't indiscriminate to freezing addresses, it was by request from law enforcement that could be involved in other cryptocurrency crime.
However, stable coin is not the best option in the first place, decentralized cryptocurrency is far better than those manipulative and centralized coins, there are a few problems with them.
312  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin break its previous ATH record of 20K before end of 2020? on: November 10, 2020, 06:39:57 AM
According to the current market trend and technical analysis and there have been some remarkably aggressive buy signals in the market, so bitcoin should be able to reach $20K before the end of this year. We can't rely on emotions and feelings to predict bitcoin movement, decide it right now to buy or doing nothing, but seasonal traders who chase profits definitely buy into that with the hope to sell at $20K, we will see significant correction at that price mark.
313  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 6 countries have more than 50% of BTC exchange traffic on: November 10, 2020, 03:23:35 AM
No doubt about users in the US or Japan, and somehow Singapore although it is a small country probably because Binance has headquarters there.
but how about China? I guess most of them using a VPN to access crypto or most of the users have left this country since a few years ago.
Since most of the traffic came from Binance and Coinbase, also many institutional-investors from the US, the conclusion is they have considerable influence on market prices.
314  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it all good news when institutions invest in Bitcoin? on: November 09, 2020, 03:29:21 PM
~
Retail and institutional investors see bitcoin for its price only, let's face it.

Most people I would say, we do care about bitcoin price.
we want it not to be an object of manipulation, but it is a free market, whoever wants bitcoin could buy it, whether as an alternative currency, as an asset, or just for profits.
at this point, institutional-investors become a positive impact on the bitcoin market, but we don't know when they will sell it. Probably the new ATH will create a snowball effect when people panic sells then history repeats itself.
315  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price to reach $17k? on: November 09, 2020, 02:22:12 PM
Bitcoin may reach $17K levels within 2 weeks.
Looking at the technical analysis, bitcoin is maintaining strong support above $15K and the uptrend won't stop at this point due to some factors such as halving, institutional-investors take a part in this field, and PayPal enables bitcoin. The trend in the market still positive, as long as nothing major will affect bitcoin in a bad way, we should see it reach $20K by the end of the year.
316  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ways to get Bitcoin/ETH under 18/ trade. on: November 09, 2020, 09:35:25 AM

I am also open for some trades but i would rather stay anonymous and I don't wanna get scammed. Have a nice day!  Grin

Yes, you can buy bitcoin in this forum, check out the currency exchange's board: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=53.0
There are some offers from trusted people to buy-sell bitcoin with some payment modes such as Skrill, PayPal, Payoneer, Perfect money, etc.
However, do not trade with a newbie or untrusted people, you can always use escrow to avoid scams.
317  Economy / Economics / Re: The Difference Between Staking and Investing on: November 09, 2020, 06:37:03 AM
both are profitable but it depends on your capital. Staking just provide small yearly interest like in a traditional banks
Profit doesn't depend on capital.

Staking does not mean profit, the coin your staking may increase by number but that doesn't mean profit. Investment, on the other hand, is different it requires broader knowledge, skills (a bit), and analysis.

but investing give much higher percentage of profit in just a short period of time but it depends on how much, what or where did you invest.
Maybe you're referring to trading not investing? there's no "short period of time" in investment, there is a short-term investment, but "short period of time"? maybe it's day trading or so.

Divide it into 3 subjects, investing, staking, and trading > depends on the way it is and time frame.
However, it's safe to say all of it requires someone to spend capital in the hope to gain profit, that's why many people consider all of it as part of investment but in different ways/methods to achieve the goal.
318  Economy / Speculation / Re: Paypal accepted the Crypto but it will reduce the BTC marketcaps on: November 08, 2020, 11:48:17 PM
Basically looks like contracts that we get while doing leverage trading, but here, no leveraging is allowed. I believe PayPal is just making a fool of us by saying that they will be the buyers on our behalf. TBH, only a fool would buy from them knowing that the coins aren't in our possession (or maybe there won't be any coins at all if nothing is purchased). Buying it from exchanges or P2P markets is a great deal in order to just save our BTC in our own hands rather than giving PayPal the opportunity to do it. Well, who is PayPal here? An escrow (or a bank)? Do we really need a "bank" to rely on when it comes to holding crypto?

Not an escrow or a bank, just assume PayPal act as an intermediary, between users, exchanges, and merchants.
The main question is whether Paxos really provide bitcoin for users or buy bitcoin in the first place when PayPal request it.
if users can't withdraw bitcoin from PayPal, only buy, sell, and purchase on merchants, we'll never know about the bitcoin reserves on Paxos.

319  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ledger owners lose 1.1 million XRP!! on: November 08, 2020, 03:52:04 PM
There are more than 45 billion xrp in circulation and losing 1,1 million worth $287,500 maybe not worth significant compare to the circulating supply to affect the price.
Pishing site is one of the most common ways to hack, although it's easy to spot a substituted homoglyph, some people still fall for this trick, which means they are not paying attention to the URL. Yes, Ledger is part of this mistake but it's our duty to secure our asset and be careful of whatever may come to steal it.
320  Economy / Economics / Re: Biggest threats to the price of Bitcoin. on: November 08, 2020, 12:38:24 PM
The most likely scenario for bitcoin to drop to $10K is vulnerable to hacking, if the hackers can break the safeguards of a big exchange like Binance and steal hundreds of thousands of bitcoins, then the price may get affected due to fud and manipulation, it's a good time for traders to dump their coin as well, sell at a high price and buy in the dip.
Well, it happened a few times throughout the history of bitcoin, does not rule out the possibility it will never happen again in the future, even if hackers succeed to crack bitcoin wallets that contain lots of bitcoin, the market may be affected.
