301  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: new to bitcoin mining on: March 07, 2016, 08:59:29 PM
your wallet is a secure "program" that lives on your computer. Depending on the type of wallet you get it might have to sync with the network to download all the transactions to validate that they are indeed real. when you mine on a pool you set your btc address in that pool and the pool owner sends you your earned coins to that address. Think of it like your bank account number that people can send money (btc) to.

more bang for the buck on mining at home. unless you have crazy expensive power costs. If you want to get into it now you can buy/sell btc with $$ until you can buy a miner yourself.

Any hardware bought/talked about now will be next to useless after the halving unless nothing new comes out. if you can afford to start now an antminer s7 would be your best bang for buck. You could also pick up some usb gekko sticks to play around with if you want to dip a toe into the btc pool to experiment with.
302  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [25 PH] ** 5x AVALON6 GIVEAWAY ** Kano CKPool (kano.is) [0.9% PPLNS] US,DE,SG,JP on: March 07, 2016, 08:43:03 PM
Thanks for the reply. It does seem that 1 - a min transaction should be part of the block. or just a 5 hr ban from mining (including pools) when an empty block is mined.

Haha!  I long for the day when this could be enforced!  Cheesy

this would only have to be enforced for like 1 day and those pools would take such a hit they would change their ways.

the times we find blocks with almost a full btc in tx fees are great blocks to find. i know kano has hit a few with over 1 btc of fees.
303  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer's Power Outage / Payment on: March 07, 2016, 08:40:52 PM
are you able to relocate the miners to anywhere else in the house? or can you use an extension cord to reach another outlet/breaker.

i know the s3 can use a wireless mod perhaps you could mod them and relocate to different rooms so they can all run full power in order to get the most btc out of them before they start producing dust payments.
304  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [25 PH] ** 5x AVALON6 GIVEAWAY ** Kano CKPool (kano.is) [0.9% PPLNS] US,DE,SG,JP on: March 07, 2016, 08:21:04 PM
I am mining solo via ckpool, but also mine here at kano.is. - I think of kano.is and ckpool as the same thing. Sorry.

Both kano.is and solo.ckpool.org use ckpool, but neither one is ckpool itself if that makes sense.  ckpool is open sourced and lots of people use it across the network.

If I had a say in the bitcoin core code I would have implemented minimum transactions to be included in each valid block when the mempool is > 0 (i.e. always).

i think the fact that at the start of the universe of bitcoin there were no transactions therefore they couldnt hardcode a min amount to start with. But hopefully as the blockchain progresses the devs will see that empty blocks are a disease that will kill btc if left unchecked and they will modify the code to force a block to have transactions to be considered valid.

if they implemented this i think we would see a large change in the hash distribution as the large china pools would suddenly become outdated and not producing blocks.
305  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is it possible to buy bitcoins by paypal? on: March 07, 2016, 06:34:00 PM
or just buy bitcoin from ebay. that way when you are charged the charge shows as the person.

ive bought several btc this way and if you work with the seller you can get it for market price or a few $ more to cover tx fees.

nice size heat sink. what volt/freq are you running them at to need such a heatsink?

Wonder how the heat dissipation will be for the middle one. are they lotto machines or part of a pool?

generally it is lazy coders. The lazyness results in empty blocks because it is easier to code as well as "faster".

when the code is poorly written it takes time to fill the blocks. this time is minute when looked at individually but when you look at that time overall it stacks up.
308  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S7 Many URLS of Pool in Miner Status on: March 07, 2016, 04:55:02 PM
i would try resetting the machine back to stock.

perhaps doing a flash upgrade as well.

might want to change the static ip of the machine as well. seems like someone has been able to get into your network.

might need to reset your router admin password to something new/tougher.
depending on the software i always try and max out the allowable char just to make it harder/longer to crack.

check any/all computers that are connected to the network they may have been compromised and thus allowing someone to tunnel in and which your settings.
309  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [25 PH] ** 5x AVALON6 GIVEAWAY ** Kano CKPool (kano.is) [0.9% PPLNS] US,DE,SG,JP on: March 07, 2016, 04:48:04 PM
Very new to bitcoin. Recently got my first miner S7 setup a full node and ckpool. Also renting some hash from NH and pointing it at CK.

How does it work that (looking at last 4 blocks found but BitFury and AntPool) that you can find two blocks within a few minutes/seconds of each other and each be full of transactions?

-- and --

Shouldn't there be a min transactions included in a block?

this is the thread for kano.is pool. the ckpool you mention is here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=763510.0) which is a solo pool. meaning you will only get paid if you find a block.

where as here on kano.is you will get a portion of each block found.

and No there is no min transaction as you have seen in antpool they mine a lot of empty blocks. on Kano all blocks are stuffed full with transactions and those transactions are paid out to the miners.
310  Other / Off-topic / Re: Will you quit your day job to go full time on bitcoin? on: March 07, 2016, 04:44:11 PM
id love to quit my day job and go full btc. Only problem is bills, bills, and more bills.

If i had a farm that was 1PH+ then maybe since that would earn enough btc in a day to cover expenses but right now the few miners i have i need a normal job to pay for the miners and the power to run them and all the other bills.

i am a database administrator so maybe one day ill find a job working with btc in some form.

312  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S7 Many URLS of Pool in Miner Status on: March 07, 2016, 04:19:07 PM
ya. thats not right.

have you tried doing a power cycle/hard reboot. Or resetting back to stock?

resetting to stock with the button on the front next to the ethernet jack might be your best best.

did you buy it used recently? perhaps the previous owner had customer software on it?

what kind of security do you have on your network? is your wifi open?

Hey, I just noticed this pool pays-out instantly on block finds.
Sorry but I can't get payments on every block; I've a very neat wallet, your pool just made it very trashy.
Once a day is more than enough, once a week is best, every block is a big no-no for me.
This falls under "shit forced upon me that I don't want nor need to deal with" category.

Sorry but I cannot mine here for the foreseeable future.
Maybe if you let miners decide when to cashout or once a day at best, but for the time being, I prefer less payments.
It's just less hassle for me.

Keep up the great work, I love how you fill the blocks.

First time ive heard of someone leaving/not mining on a pool cus they are getting paid timely. normally its the other way around people leave because they arent being paid.

what kind of wallet are you using that gets "trashy" when you get more then 1 payment? im using core and it seems "neat" to me. total on the left, inputs/withdraws on the right.
314  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: $100 GIVEAWAY - [3,000 TH] Bitclubpool.com Official Thread on: March 05, 2016, 10:17:32 PM
Not to mention that the hasn't identified which address was his and what he was mining with. but the payout totals seem rather funny.

Almost 30 coins 1 pay and 14 coins the next? how many blocks is this payment from.

is the 30 from 2 blocks found and 14 from 1? if so where are the other 10ish coins going.

Anyone know off hand what the high difficulty winner is right now for the Avalon?
check page 1 second post kano keeps its updated there for high/low

so the diff goes down and our blocks stop. Sad we need more..
316  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [25 PH] ** 5x AVALON6 GIVEAWAY ** Kano CKPool (kano.is) [0.9% PPLNS] US,DE,SG,JP on: March 05, 2016, 06:35:34 PM
Is there an easy way to see our current 5ND Payout average?  Right now the shift graph shows our average but it's for a much larger window.  What I want to see is my rough current payout average should a block hit right now.   My averages fluctuates too much so it's much harder to guess.

you wont see what you could get paid but your average is shown by the redline.

like wolves to an injured goat. its funny to see the reactions from people based just on current hash rate. Perhaps its rental power for the day.

times running out to get more for today. gotta pack in those last blocks. hopefully the diff change will be down.
