301  Economy / Economics / Re: 3,2,1 and PANIC Or do we? on: August 19, 2012, 10:29:10 AM
An upside to people selling off a ton of coins is that there are also a ton of coins being bought. Spread them around boys. I say it bottoms out at around $7-8 unless people really start to freak.

I love Keepass. It has a nice android client so I always have my passwords with me and its autotype feature is nice on sites that don't allow pasting passwords. It will also automatically dump the clipboard after a specified time. On another point, you'd have to hit me with a pretty big wrench to get my password.

Obligatory XKCD:

I posted this in the gambling section earlier and it seems relevant.

Hold your investment and don't freak out. In a few years you'll be laughing all the way to the virtual bank and she'll be blowing guys for cab fare.
305  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin needs more short-term speculators and a new bitcoinica clone on: August 19, 2012, 10:09:23 AM
I disagree, in my opinion bitcoin need's more places to spend your bitcoins and less speculation.

At the moment there are very few commodities that you can buy with your coins, and next to no places to buy common communicates like milk, bread, butter etc.  A huge percentage of the daily/weekly/monthly volume of bitcoin trades are for other currencies, in traditional money markets this usually lead's to volatility.

Just my opinion though.

I started BitBid for just this reason. I've had quite a few people sign up but not many have posted anything for sale. I think lack of prominent escrow services are hurting it since it's so easy to get paid then never send the product. Also it seems most people are either hoarding or speculating with Bitcoin instead of using it to buy things. It will come eventually. Slow and steady wins the race, etc...

Can you reach the SilkRoad?

Yes.

Enjoy Guantanamo.

I think what you meant to say is, "Bitcoin needs more rubes I can profit off of."
309  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Specialized mining hardware against the "ideals" of bitcoin? on: August 19, 2012, 06:09:11 AM
I'm referring to things like the $30,000 rig. A $150 card doesn't even compare.

"Spiritual Master" is code for liar.
311  Economy / Speculation / Re: What's your exit strategy? on: August 19, 2012, 05:50:10 AM
Exit from what? Bitcoin isn't going anywhere. Only the dumb speculators are getting screwed in this and quite frankly they deserve it.
312  Economy / Speculation / Re: There's a network with 9.7M BTC - are they going to sell?! on: August 19, 2012, 05:48:29 AM
Fine by me if they sell. I'm in this for the long haul and a sell-off like this would be perfect for getting cheap coins.
313  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is anyone going insane? on: August 19, 2012, 05:44:51 AM
Watching idiots lose their money is hilarious to me. I don't speculate and I don't invest in very obvious scams. If this volatility is scaring you then either Bitcoin isn't for you or you can use this as a teaching moment. Specifically don't invest your life savings in some nobody's scheme.
314  Economy / Economics / Re: Would Paul Ryan as Vice President let banks collapse? on: August 19, 2012, 04:56:49 AM
I'm pretty sure the only politicians that would let the banks fail are Ron Paul and Elizabeth Warren.
315  Bitcoin / Mining / Specialized mining hardware against the "ideals" of bitcoin? on: August 19, 2012, 04:54:37 AM
I know it's coming and there's no way to stop it but it feels wrong. Mining was supposed to be distributed among the users then pools came about and it became more centralized. P2Pool fixes a lot of the issues with pools gaining too much power. Now with expensive, specialized hardware it raises the barrier to entry. I'm all for securing the blockchain but it seems mining is going to end up being just a few large organizations and screw the little guy. Sound familiar?
316  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Libertarian opinion - Cop Brutality on: August 19, 2012, 04:48:26 AM
My cousin was murdered by a state trooper. Trooper was responding to a minor traffic accident and had no probable cause to enter his home. My cousin asked for a warrant they didn't have so they kicked his door in, pepper sprayed him in the face, and shot him once in the heart. He was unarmed and died in a pool of blood in his doorway. During the trial his story changed from his grand jury testimony claiming that my cousin opened the door and assaulted the other trooper that was with him. Multiple eyewitnesses testified that that never happened and it was never mention before halfway through the trial. The trooper was acquitted and given back pay. He's still on paid leave pending a federal investigation. I'm guessing he gets away with it.

Murder your citizens, pay off families with other citizens' tax dollars, rinse blood off hands and repeat indefinitely. Fuck this country.

I have a three core CPU and there's nothing going on in the background. It seems to run fine for about a day then it starts messing up.

My LG Ally and Mesmerize are so slow they don't even get a share before the next block comes out.

Palin wouldn't win shit because she is a terrible person with no real experience in politics. She might get the "I'd fuck that vote." but nothing more.
