301  Economy / Speculation / Re: I have a question, was the price stable for a few days before the last crash on: April 05, 2013, 04:05:50 PM
When the last real crash happened, from 33 down to 2, just before the 33 started to tumble, was the price stable like it is now?

Not much...

302  Economy / Speculation / Re: 136$ is the new 13.6$? on: April 05, 2013, 03:20:58 PM
With the week-end coming about, maybe people are just waiting for it to pass.  We all know the infamous week-end dips.  Will people want to invest knowing that they are better to invest Monday?  Or perhaps they are stocking and waiting for the week-end crash&restore we are seeing lately.

In all cases, Friday seem like a bad time I guess.
303  Economy / Speculation / 136$ is the new 13.6$? on: April 05, 2013, 02:39:53 PM
So, will we sleep from here?  Prices rose pretty quickly and I think people just don't know anymore if they want to invest or not.  What we see here usually happen during week-ends when fiat doesn't get to the exchanges.  Will it crash?  No new good news in the Bitcoin world, just plain old re-heated stuff.  What do you think?
304  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL RIP OFF... price up 90%, 50GH/s for 2499$. on: April 04, 2013, 06:01:01 PM
Nothing about power consumption on the site, but they have a new estimated shipping date  Wink And all sales are FINAL !

"Pre-order Terms: Bitforce SC (ASIC) products are in final stage development with initial shipping scheduled for the last half of April 2013. Products are shipped according to placement in the order queue, and delivery may take 2 months or more after order. All sales are final"

Yes, however, their ASIC are made.  Their entry cost are made.  So, from now on, producing more ASIC is dirt cheap.  I just don't like the fact that they upgrade prices without notice.  A simple "You get discount if you pre-order" would have been the least.

I do have pre-order 1 SC, but I'm starting to wonder if there's some bad faith at BFL.  I will get the guaranteed 60GH/s, although from their latest tweets, they seem to have big power problem.  So they will probably ship me (and other who pre-ordered) 2 boards at 30GH/s.  So let's see if people find a way to overclock.  Will all 8 cores be populated at lower speed, or full speed on 4 chips populated.  Well, time (hopefully) will tell.

So here it is...

SC 50GH/s 2499$ from now on...

Will not affect pre-order so far...  But do affect all new orders.
308  Economy / Speculation / Re: Looks like low volume and high volatility. on: April 04, 2013, 04:43:49 PM
I think that people are waiting to see what will happen next.  A lot are nervous right now.  After all, the growth is pretty big in short time and it really look like a speculative bubble.  What happened yesterday did put a cold feeling on investors.  So, for now, it's pretty much wait and see.

What can happen... either:
- Some big buys will take place, driving the price to 140~145.  Bringing in more fair, a small crash followed by buy back, and more nervousness.
- Hold and wait for market to stabilize a few hours/days, to give some reassurance.
- A small crash followed by buy-in any minutes now
- People will lose confidence and start selling and price will go on down trend for some time.

So, anything is possible, however, the higher it goes, the lower it goes in that above list Grin
309  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is going on? My prediction. on: April 04, 2013, 03:56:16 PM
I do have to agree that it's rising way too quickly (too much hype/speculation).  My guess is that when it break, it will break hard for many people.  Not to 1$...  Maybe still 2-digits.  As opposed to 2011, a lot more investors are in, so it probably won't be as sharp, but once people lose confidence in Bitcoins, it will gradually lower in value with ripples.

It's just plain silly how it grows now.  Of course, people want to move in, but I would probably see like 10% per months MAX as a reasonable growth in normal circomstances.  Since it started at around 20$, I say that now the fair value, in light of the recent events, would me more like 30~40$.  In fact, Cyprus should have only had minimal effect.

This make me think of the telecom and the dot-com bubble in 2000.  Remember how Yahoo! stock raised at that time (http://tinyurl.com/yahoo-bubble)?  Look at the sharp rising edge just before apogee...  This was all speculative on the "potential" revenue that the company could have in ads.
310  Economy / Speculation / Re: the FUD campaign started on: April 04, 2013, 03:38:21 PM
FUD is made by people pissed off by not buying when it was low, or who sold thinking the bubble would burst (which has obviously not occurred) and want to jump back in Grin
311  Economy / Speculation / Re: the FUD campaign started on: April 04, 2013, 01:32:47 PM
It's all due to the high price.  Triple digits will turn away many people.
Switch to mBTC and people will jump in.  Or at least, there will be a lot less bad press, and price will be clear to go to 0.2$, 0.3$, ...  and easily to the dollar per mBTC.

All it need to take is MtGox to show mBTC and others will follow.
312  Other / Off-topic / Re: How do you say "buy bitcoins" in your language? on: April 04, 2013, 01:01:43 PM
In french

Achètes des Bitcoins (Do buy Bitcoins, asking a specific person, like "you... do buy Bitcoins")
Achetons des Bitcoins (Do buy Bitcoins, asking in general, to the third person, like "let's buy Bitcoins")
Acheter des Bitcoins (Buying Bitcoins)
J'achète des Bitcoins (I'm buying Bitcoins)

The 'è' is a variation of 'e'.  'e' is normally pronounced like the 'e' in 'the'.  The 'è' is prounounced like the 'e' in 'seven' or 'get'.

And, with the Quebec accent/slang...  Achètes des crisses de Bitcoins tusuite ostie!  (Buy damn Bitcoins right fu...ng now!)  Grin
313  Economy / Speculation / Re: BREAKING-LEAK:Identities+emails of rich hiding cash offshore $32trillion's worth on: April 04, 2013, 11:50:02 AM

In the future, you can carry 32 trillion in Bitcoins like this.

Lost USB drive = lost 32 trillion USD

That's why you should make several offline backups, and keep them at at least 2 or more geographical locations (house, job, in the cloud, friend's house, etc.) and not just on you/in your house (in case of disaster, you don't want to lose all your copies!).  Of course, double-encrypt them Smiley

318  Economy / Speculation / Re: Weird rounding coincedence in GBP on: April 03, 2013, 04:21:23 PM
Action is coming from all over the world.  It's just that most people trade in USD due to larger trading volume... Smiley
319  Economy / Speculation / Re: Weird rounding coincedence in GBP on: April 03, 2013, 04:05:00 PM
Transactions in other currencies are traded in those other currencies.  It's not a "translated" USD value.  That's why the volume is also lower...
320  Economy / Speculation / Re: mtgox api lag on: April 03, 2013, 04:03:37 PM
So, we are gonna have to live with the lag for a few hours?
