3001  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just bought an Android phone for the BTC apps. Did I goof? on: June 03, 2014, 11:23:25 PM
No, Android rules, Apple drools.
3002  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if someday Bitcoin Foundation votes to remove 21M limitation? on: June 03, 2014, 11:16:11 PM
By then we'll all be so rich nobody will care. If they tried to sabotage Bitcoin in any way, there will be many, many competing digital currencies to switch over to. And not a single fiat currency.

White people.  -_-

Instead of leaving this forum to the scammers and trolls, I elect to remain here to improve it with my insight, sincerity, and reason.

By the way, an automobile is a depreciating asset. You traded Bitcoin for a depreciating asset? That seems foolish.

In time, this will be as bad as the 10,000 BTC pizza...
3005  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: And now a bank realizes bitcoin's potential finally!(citibank) on: June 03, 2014, 04:42:53 PM
I think most banks realise its potential but wouldnt want to admit it publically.

My thought exactly. In the dark they are trying to figure out how they can profit from it, and they will in the end.
It's not rocket surgery. Profiting from Bitcoin = melting fiat into Bitcoin.
3006  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will Bitcoin reach $1 again? on: June 03, 2014, 04:38:54 PM
JW, when do you guys think Bitcoin's going to reach $1 again? It's inevtiable obviously, just give me a heads up on when to sell thanks.
Never. Bitcoin's value is always rising against fiat money, just like rare metals. The dollar is a dead currency walking.

3007  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Time is Running Out for Mark Williams Prediction of a $10 Bitcoin on: June 03, 2014, 03:07:08 PM

A moment ago, someone dumped another $370,000 of fiat wealth into Bitcoin. Take from that what you will.
3008  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ideas on inexpensive, portable laptop to use as Bitcoin Cold Storage? on: June 03, 2014, 02:46:10 PM
Just turn off WiFi for security.
That's not good enough for cold storage. Set a password. Set the phone to Airplane mode, then turn the phone off. Remove the battery, store it separately.

Consider the use of a safety deposit box.
3009  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It is shocking how dumb the press is - on: June 03, 2014, 04:54:30 AM
I remain unshocked.
3010  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's Futile Quest to Be a Currency on: June 03, 2014, 01:22:39 AM
I'd take an FBI bullet to the brain before I'd give these fucks a penny of my wealth.

State-sponsored terrorism (=war for profit) is not my favorite aspect of modern reality.
3011  Economy / Economics / Re: what caused the rise to $1100 last year? on: June 02, 2014, 05:58:41 PM
Excellent post Melbustus. I have nothing to add and couldn't have said it better if my life depended on it.
3012  Economy / Economics / Re: Capital in the Twenty-First Century, by Thomas Piketty (Crypto Renaissance) on: June 02, 2014, 03:11:50 PM
Capitalism has created more wealth than any other political system in history.  The US started out as a capitalistic society. It has been degraded and attacked since the beginning and now is far from capitalist.
On the contrary, the modern United States is the purest distillation of capitalist society since the gilded age. If you don't like what the USA has become, you don't like capitalism. Accept it.

His main thesis is that the return on invested capital increases faster than the general growth of the economy, leading to increasing inequality (because those with capital to invest get richer faster than the rest). To begin with, he confuses return on invested capital with the growth rate of capital of corporate profits - a mistake that is unforgivable even for a 1st year graduate student of economics.
If this is confusing and frustrating to you, it's because you don't understand that economics is a pseudo-science. It exists solely to support and uphold the cult of capitalism.
3013  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Help us decide video about which bitcoin myth we should do next! Please. on: June 02, 2014, 12:41:40 PM
- Bitcoin isn't alone. Just because Bitcoin is deflationary doesn't mean every coin is. (This is a huge argument by people for why it will fail. So how do they explain Dogecoin away?)
Easy, they look at performance vs Bitcoin and see Dogecion is failing, just like fiat. That's what happens with unlimited supply. If your commodity has no scarcity, it has no long term value.

3014  Other / Off-topic / Re: Thinking about naming my kid Satoshi..anybody with me! on: June 02, 2014, 12:39:35 PM
I am naming my kid Justin Bieber so that he will be forever popular.
Imma name my kid Bustin Jieber, but he'll be a black adopted kid so it'll be cool.
3015  Other / Off-topic / Re: Thinking about naming my kid Satoshi..anybody with me! on: June 02, 2014, 06:02:30 AM
I'm gonna name my kid LOA DING. Cause of loading screens.

Just kidding I had a vasectomy, I'm not a moron after all. Children are a terrible thing to do to oneself, for a myriad of reasons. $18,000 / year being eighteen thousand of them.
3016  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen. on: June 02, 2014, 05:52:46 AM
Bitcoin has climbed the first few rungs on the logarithmic valuation ladder. That ladder has many rungs. Hundreds.

You reading this now, in June 2014, know that these are still the earliest of days. Know that most of the world hasn't heard of Bitcoin, even now. Fewer still understand it.

And only a tiny fraction know - without any doubt - how this story ends. And so we hold, patiently awaiting the inevitable.
3017  Economy / Speculation / Re: I heard Bitcoin was suppose to go to $10 today? on: June 02, 2014, 05:36:31 AM
A professor of risk management? Soon this man will be a laughing stock. He has discredited himself.

If that university has any self-respect whatsoever, this man will never teach there again.

Or is he tenured?
3018  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The problem with Bitcoin is on: June 02, 2014, 03:36:07 AM
I want to be a part of an economic reformation on a global scale.  And I'm a very conservative individual.
Bitcoin is conservatism in the truest, best sense of the word. I say this as an anarchist anti-capitalist.

In today's economy , there are around 5 trillion dollars , if you consider all economies.

Even more

Okay , take it as 6.3 trillion , assuming there are all 21m BTC mined.
That will still be 300k , which is much lesser than necessary to cause a problem resulting in need to further divide Bitcoin.

It is unlikely that Bitcoin will ever cross a million $ , but I expect it to definitely hit the 10k range.
People who expect it to reach 1m in a few years are extreme fanatics.

Comparing Bitcoins future growth to the 300x boost it saw ages ago is stupid.
If Satoshi told 2 people about BTC when he first envisioned it and tripled the Bitcoin enthusiasts in a minute , we should not expect that to happen again in a minute.

TLDR; Bitcoin will rise , but even if it becomes as big as USD is now , it will be under 40k$ per Bitcoin (of todays USD value)
We will not need to further divide BTC in a long long time and if we do , we will have far more capable devs waiting to do so.

The world is not aware of BTC, it's still in its ignorance..especially peoples with ridicolous government currencies (so excluding USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, etc. that should be the less interested)
You're right, but it doesn't matter. You don't need to advertise for something this good. The internet didn't have much advertisement in 1994, yet it caught on just fine.

Go to wikipedia, type "history of the internet" and use edit -> find (ctrl+f) "nearly instant in historical terms". Read that sentence several times until the implications sink in.

The rise of the internet is the story of what happens when a decentralized, organic, open, evolving entity goes up against the ancient clunky model of centralization.

Bitcoin is the same story, accelerated by greed.
3020  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This girl is really dedicated to bitcoin... [NSFW Image] on: June 02, 2014, 03:14:05 AM
It gives me an idea though. My wife is considered hot so maybe I can convince her to get a tat and let me take her picture to earn some bit coin.  Grin
Temporary tattoo and you're in for some free money. My girlfriend is also extremely hot, but she'd NEVER do anything like this. Holy shit she would murder me if I even asked.
