3002  Other / Archival / Re: Strange Work of Sorting Topics on: August 01, 2021, 09:43:22 PM
Not sure what the problem is because the sorting by "Replies" works for me, without some duplicates here and there.
If I sort by Replies I get the first 31 pages with 0 replies and then 1 reply starts from page 32

From this, the randomness within these 32 pages with 0 answers will not go anywhere. If I want to view all these 32 pages, then I will see the arrangement of the topics at random and throughout these 32 pages the topics will be repeated many times.

Interesting. I had never noticed that bug before.
As suchmoon suggested, it is possible that the system does not have a defined fallback sorting criterion. Typically a topic ID should be used since it is unique for every topic.
3003  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin an Investment or Payment form? Has it lost its purpose? on: August 01, 2021, 08:58:53 PM
let's be honest:

Does anyone here in this thread use bitcoin as a payment method?

i use litecoin because it is cheaper and faster compared to bitcoin, but i like bitcoin to trade and hodl. and i believe most people just use bitcoin to hodl and get big profits don't use bitcoin to buy stuff... unfortunately this is reality and we cannot hide

Yes, I use bitcoin as payment method. Although, not as often now that I am accumulating, but I still do so from time to time. Other altcoin currencies are not yet on par with bitcon.
Although litecoin has faster transactions and lower fees, it is not widely used across all online stores and services as bitcoin.
3004  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Saudi Aramco, world’s 3rd largest company, plans to start mining Bitcoin on: August 01, 2021, 08:25:25 PM
excuse my ignorance, but in saudi arabia are bitcoin laws friendly? because i remember reading somewhere that in saudi arabia they didn't want bitcoin, i can't remember where the hell i read this.
I have read about religious issues as a barrier to accept Bitcoin, some form of religious law in the religion prohibits them if i remember correctly.

I'm not sure about that. The latest information I have found is an article by Decrypt.

According to decrypt, former Shariah Advisor to Blossom Finance, Mufti Muhammad Abu-Bakar said in his report, which was last updated in December 2019, argues that all currencies are speculative to some degree due to the nature of supply and demand; since fiat currencies, gold, and most other financial instruments are permissible under Sharia, so too should Bitcoin be.

The full report can be found here:

Investing.com reported that the Middle East oil giant, Saudi Aramco, is interested in mining bitcoin
A very poor headline.
...

The headline is obvious clickbait. I agree.  Wink
3005  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online gambling becomes popular on: August 01, 2021, 07:53:39 PM
The challenges of parenting have always been challenging, but the widespread adoption of smartphones and the rise of social media have added to the difficulty.
How much screen time should parents allow their kids? And how long before it interferes with children's normal development? And what is normal in today's world anyway?

I recently read an article by Pew Research Center stating that two-thirds of parents in the U.S. say parenting is harder today than it was 20 years ago, with many citing technologies, like social media or smartphones, as a reason. As parents, however, I believe that should not be an excuse. It is our duty to stay up to date on our kids' activities, and we should actively participate in their interests.

The issue is that parents mostly because of their jobs do not have the time to watch their kids as close as they could in the past, I really think that when it comes to smartphones, computers and video games consoles some limits must be set, the amount of time they are allowed to use those devices is not important what matters is that there is a limit as it is not rare for kids today to spend most of their time in front of one of those 3 devices.

Your post is basically my opinion of how the Internet can be damaging for kids, since most of the posts here only focus on adults and how their internet gambling can be harmful but there are many children that are already addicted to the internet and even my own kids are starting to show signs of it.
I'm struggling to make them aware of the dangers that exist online, especially when they see other kids spending so much time on their devices. It makes me wonder - after reading how others have addressed the same issue with their own children, if it is imperative that kids learn about the Internet's potential dangers from an early age? Or, am I just being paranoid?
3006  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Saudi Aramco, world’s 3rd largest company, plans to start mining Bitcoin? on: August 01, 2021, 07:29:07 PM
Investing.com reported that the Middle East oil giant, Saudi Aramco, is interested in mining bitcoin, citing information provided by Brazilian Bitcoin miner Ray Nasser in an interview on the Bitcoinheiros YouTube channel.

Nasser reportedly said:

It was explained in the report that Aramco could use the excess gas (by-product) generated by oil extraction in order to mine digital assets, which would provide extra security for Bitcoin while generating carbon credits for the company.

Aramco has not yet issued any statement about venturing into Bitcoin mining.

3008  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: August 01, 2021, 01:40:57 PM
I don't think Dormund will sign out Haaland, he is one of the talented player they have, and selling him out without a replacement will definitely affect the team performance. Dormund have to strengthen their squad this season, if they want to win the league title, they will also face big teams in the Champion League.

Yeah, I think the only significant profile leaving Dortmund in this transfer window is Sancho.
Haland has been a very productive player in the German league since he arrived and has scored 40 Bundesliga goals in 43 matches in 2020. The interest in Haaland is high, but I don't think it would be a good idea for Dortmund to accept any bids for the striker.

Thompson-Hera ran the 2nd fastest 100 meters in history (10.61 seconds), second only to FloJo record breaking 10.62 set in 1988. Only one US women in the finals and she finished 7th. Used to be dominated by American female sprinters but Jamaica has been taking control of this event for the last 3 to 4 Olympics if I'm not mistaken.

Wow, those Jamaican ladies can run really fast! Cheesy

Congrats to @FastElaine and Team Jamaica! A well deserved victory.

3014  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Bitcoin worth so much? on: July 31, 2021, 12:19:30 PM
Many other cryptocurrencies have been improved upon based on Bitcoin. In other words, Bitcoin must be inferior to them, but why is Bitcoin's value number one by far?
Why is Bitcoin worth so much? Huh

Let's not ask the same questions all over again! This has been asked literally hundreds of times so far, can't you read?

Let me respond by asking a counter-question: Why is gold so valuable? There are other metals, for example, carbon steel or titanium are stronger and more durable, tungsten is almost equally dense, copper and silver are better conductors of electricity ... In other words, gold must be inferior to them, but why is gold's value number one?

3016  Other / Off-topic / Re: The most profitable ways to earn cryptocurrency? on: July 31, 2021, 11:30:01 AM
Making money online is a good idea. If we are unable too save much money from our day job than we need alternatives. Getting a second income from online work is start to increase our crypto holdings. For me the best way to earn some extra cash is through ebay. Selling old stuff from the basement which I don't need anymore can make a decent profit which can all go into cryptos.

And what if your day job is online? Should I look for alternatives offline?  Wink

The entire business world is now increasingly turning online. However, there are still quite a few opportunities online to build up your own business.

The types of online businesses I would look at are:
Loyalty Programs
Dropshipping
Consulting
Ecommerce
3017  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Small Rabbit - Bounty & Signature campaign SCAMMER - 25000$ on: July 31, 2021, 08:35:59 AM
Wow, what a fucking moron! He had a chance to build his bounty manager career on these projects, but instead he opted for a scam. The lying and presenting false evidence and transferring blame to project owners seems absurd. How stupid is it to think the community will buy that?

@Small Rabbit, I know you're lurking here. Grow a spine, and get yourself out of this mess. Return the money to the owners and apologize. That's the only way.
No matter if you believe in God, karma, or destiny, can you really be sure that your actions will not bring bad luck to you and your family? Bad things happen to people every day and people get hurt for a lot less. You think you're safe behind a computer screen? Think again.

3019  Economy / Economics / Re: Amazon will accept Bitcoin payment this year on: July 28, 2021, 09:49:36 AM
Even if Amazon accept bitcoin payment, it doesnt mean the rest of the world will eventually purchase bitcoin just to use it to pay their amazon's shopping cart. You could always use cash to pay so why bother with using bitcoin to pay your cart

It's certainly possible that some people don't like using credit cards and are uncomfortable with banks knowing all about their spending habits. This is probably one of the reasons cash is still so popular.
Btw, stealing money from someone's credit card online is a lot easier than through crypto, but that's a different story.

You can begin by contributing quality content to the forum. This doesn't have to be an essay, but something that contributes to a constructive discussion or provides information useful to other forum members.
There is an overall consensus that bounty reports aren't considered quality content.  Wink
