1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Question to hodlers:How will you spend the money? on: May 05, 2024, 08:07:17 PM
OP, you asked me in PM for my opinion, so I will just answer here.  I dont have a ton invested in Bitcoin or anything, so realistically it probably wont be making me rich anytime soon.  But if the price did shoot up enough where cashing out a bit could give my small business a helpful boost, I would likely sell off some of what Im holding.  Not looking to fully retire off Bitcoin gains or anything crazy, but some extra capital at the right time could help me take things to the next level with my company and  i still gotta keep my day job and all that but growing the business is important to me too.  It is always a tricky balance figuring out when to hold and when to sell with this stuff.  But if I had a chance to fund an expansion or some upgrades that could pay off long-term, I would seriously consider making a move.  This game isnt just about holding out for early retirement - sometimes you gotta know when to take some profits off the table strategically.  I dont have all the answers, but thats my general take on it all.
2  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: uni-join & tunbler io down? Websites offline, new regulations & raids happen? on: May 05, 2024, 07:22:09 PM
These 2 websites ( [banned mixer] & [banned mixer] )have been attacked and have been set offline now for several days.

When you want to mention a mixer site in the discussion, avoid using their full domain name. This is forbidden on the forum. Discussing mixer sites is still allowed, I believe, as long as you don't include links to their sites or their full domain names.
3  Economy / Reputation / Re: How to remove negative trust from my account? on: May 05, 2024, 06:51:44 PM
I don't know why my bitcointalk account got negative trust?

How do you not know that?  Your negative tag is due to an alt account with ban evasion.

You have a reference to a thread with more information: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5270480.0

How to remove negative trust from my account?

You cannot remove it.  The only one who can remove it is the member who gave you the negative tag.  It would probably be best if you create a topic in the Reputation board or contact that member privately.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Question to hodlers:How will you spend the money? on: May 04, 2024, 09:40:47 PM
Preaching to the choir here - I think we are all on the same page about holding our Bitcoin long-term instead of chasing quick profits.  But you make a fair point, when do we eventually sell? That question keeps us strategizing for sure.

Personally, I dream about setting up different income streams so I can be free to pursue what I enjoy, travel more or even sleep in when I want!  Real estate, side businesses, rental properties - those can work.  Im just brainstorming ideas too, and always interested to hear other ideas people have in mind.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think US Paypal Users would be interested in buying cryptocurrency? on: May 04, 2024, 09:00:08 PM
I think this PayPal news seems like it will inch crypto more into the mainstream.  But, my guess is most folks who already have PayPal and care about Bitcoin probably own some anyway.  It is not like they would need PayPal just to get into crypto.  Plus lots of people use PayPal because it is easy, not because they wanna deal with complex stuff like cryptocurrency.

But no doubt it is cool PayPal's embracing crypto now and  makes you think if regular users will dive in too though.  Maybe cryptos still too out-there for most mainstream folks.  I kinda think we got more adoption down the road before avg folks fully jump aboard.
6  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Just Starting Advice on: May 03, 2024, 07:32:11 PM
hi im not new to mining~

Welcome here! You have been studying for nearly two years?  What subject?  Cause with your computer specs, mining bitcoin "properly" is as useless as trying to empty the ocean with a spoon.

If you actually wanna mine coins, read up on ASIC rigs.  But also think about just buying bitcoins instead, cause electricity aint free and mining may not pay off now.
Im no expert though and  just my thoughts.
7  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining and Public Access on: May 03, 2024, 07:04:45 PM
how do those bitcoins get into public circulation? What I mean is how are we the public able to purchase these new bitcoins that are mined?

Just like your or my bitcoins come into public circulation. They sell the coins on the open market.  You can trace blockchain transactions. Some of the mined coins will sooner or later reach the well-known exchange wallets.

And what prevents the miners from hoarding them and deciding not to sell them?

There is nothing stopping them, but what would be their incentive to do so?  Bitcoin mining is not a cheap sport nowadays. They have bills to pay, just like everyone else.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Accumulating Bitcoin or trading Bitcoin which is more wise to do. on: May 03, 2024, 06:57:23 PM
Trading is for those wanting to try timing markets, and holding long-term can work, but enough already with this you cannot lose talk.  Bitcoin is volatile, and no one really knows the road ahead.

Lets be real, stockpiling Bitcoin might make you rich, of course, but nothing is guaranteed. Its a spin of the roulette wheel.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ETF good or bad? on: May 03, 2024, 06:51:22 PM
The Bitcoin ETF sure seems like a huge development thats for certain.  It will probably drive up interest and prices of not just Bitcoin itself but crypto overall given it adds legitimacy in the view of everyday investors versus the niche internet crowd cryptos largely stuck with up until now.  But the prospect of growing government regulation down the road is dicey, no doubt about it.  We just dont know if lawmakers will clamp down with restrictions or how soon it may happen if so - not a whole lot anyone can do preventatively if regulations get passed ultimately.  Such is the world we live in.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pi Network. Legitimate or a waste of time? on: May 02, 2024, 07:57:44 PM
~
What are your thoughts on this approach?

Look, I get why folks want to believe in this Pi Network thing.  The idea of mining free crypto on your phone sounds pretty neat and  and hey, who wouldnt want some magical internet money for nothing? But lets be real - if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

As far as I can tell Pi Network is basically vaporware at this point.  They make all these fancy claims about building a cryptocurrency mainnet someday, but its all just promises so far.  And even if they do launch it, what guarantee is there that the coins will have any value? You cant actually use Pi for anything right now.

Plus, I gotta wonder what exactly they are doing digging around in people's phones in the name of mining.  That sets off some alarm bells for me.  Legit cryptocurrencies dont work that way for a reason - it opens up security risks and privacy concerns.

Maybe Im being too cynical here.  ButUntil I see some real proof that Pi Network is more than smoke and mirrors Im not going to waste my time on it.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Should I buy ALTs now or no? on: May 02, 2024, 07:49:11 PM
Honestly, Ive got mixed feelings on those communities pushing hot crypto tips.  Although, DCA-ing seems wise to me too. Takes some emotion out of the investing process.

As for the call on a coming dip Id need to know if thats based on charts & models or just speculation.  Not saying Id ignore experience-based hunches - this game has lots of unseen currents.  But backing it with data would make the warning resonate more.  Whats the group seeing that suggests rougher waters ahead?
12  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which device do you prefer for gambling ? on: May 02, 2024, 07:39:17 PM
Nowadays, it seems like everyone has a smartphone.  So yeah, Id have to guess that smartphones will prevail in dominance for mobile gambling by a landslide over tablets or laptops.  I mean as long as youve got WiFi or a decent data plan, you can essentially gamble wherever your heart desires - the doctors waiting room, standing in line for groceries, sitting on the can you name it!

Me personally though, when I have some downtime to throw down online, I prefer being planted in front of my desktop PC at home.  Just feels more official I guess and  plus the screen size cant be beat.  I work from home, so I spend more hours than I can count chained to my desk.  The thought of staring at yet another small screen by choice in my off hours makes me want to cry.  Ill take my 27 monitor thank you very much!
13  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The first online cryptocurrency Casinos, when/who? on: May 01, 2024, 09:33:35 PM
Yeah, SatoshiDice and BitCoinJack were pretty basic compared to the casinos we see nowadays, but they kicked open the door for Bitcoin gambling.  Talking of which, makes me wonder - does anyone happen to know which established online casino was the first to get Bitcoin payments fully set up on their site?  Id be curious when they took the plunge to accept crypto.
14  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can You Submit KYC Before You Win Big on: May 01, 2024, 09:22:58 PM
You usually wont have to ask customer support for KYC verification.  Most reputable online casinos sites lay out the whole KYC process on their website so it is easy to find.  Just poke around your profile settings for verification steps.  Get it over with right off the bat before you hit a big win on slots or tables.  That will save you from banging your head on the desk later when you finally land a juicy jackpot but they put an freeze on your winnings cause you didnt send in your driver's license six months ago.  Smiley
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Forbes' ‘Good for Nothing' Blockchains on: May 01, 2024, 09:13:06 PM
Well this article seems a bit misguided.  I understand these journalists likely dont specialize in covering blockchain technology, but their analysis comes across as superficial and  dismissing entire crypto projects as good for nothing based solely on perceived real-world use is an oversimplification.  I wish they had conducted more thorough research and spoken to some developers actually building on these chains.  That would provide so much helpful context! This resembles low-effort clickbait rather than thoughtful reporting.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: April 2024 recorded the lowest amount lost to hack. on: April 30, 2024, 11:09:38 PM
25 million bucks is serious money for most folks, but compared to some of those crazy losses in crypto's wild west days, it seems pretty small potatoes and  i think people have gotten a lot smarter about avoiding scams.

Could be a sign crypto land is finally growing up some.  When people take charge of their own security instead of flailing around, they dont get taken for as many rides.  Still tons more maturing to do! But drops in scam money - Ill take it as a good start.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No risk no gain on: April 28, 2024, 08:07:27 PM
We all make mistakes with money sometimes.  I once had a chance to invest in something that sounded too good to be true.  I kicked myself for weeks over that missed opportunity.

The lesson here is when you hear about some investment that catches your interest, dig into the details before walking away.  Get the facts and gauge the risks but also consider the potential payoff.  Sometimes you gotta go out on a limb.  Taking calculated risks is part of how people get ahead financially.  You win some and lose some, its the chances you dont take that eat at you.
18  Economy / Reputation / Re: Happy to be back! on: April 28, 2024, 07:20:21 PM
I was unaware that the account had been linked to any others.  Honestly this wasn't a post to try and get my old account back...I'm fine with rebuilding my reputation on this one  Grin

Then it was a mistake to mention it at all.

Of course, this is assuming you are telling the truth and that you have lost access to your account because of hack. Not that Im advocating ban evasion.
19  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: If all your wages were paid in USDT, would you accept it? on: April 28, 2024, 07:12:33 PM
There can be some downsides to this as well as said by other members. Stablecoins can sometimes de-peg and lose value, and if something like that happens, you will lose your money in case it doesn't regain the peg again but the odds of that happening aren't very high.

Yes, there are risks, but I think they are minor. As long as USDT is a widely accepted cryptocurrency, there is no significant risk. The risk that it will de-peg and lose its value is negligible, and only exists if you decide to hold the USDT for a longer period.  Personally, I would exchange it to a currency I have more confidence in as soon as I receive the payment.
20  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do you need help? on: April 28, 2024, 06:56:07 PM
I understand the struggle to manage stress in trading.  As an amateur, I dont have all the answers and  a licensed psychologist would certainly be more equipped to guide someone through these challenges.  Yet I sympathize with those learning the hard way that trading requires mental toughness.  Simple platitudes wont cut it when you are facing losses.  Each person has to find their own path to building resilience, whether thats learning from mistakes or getting professional support.

OP, are you a professional/licensed therapist? What are your credentials?
