3001  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: PRE-SHIP AGAIN! SOLD OUT [GROUP BUY 5] 3.15 BTC Bitmain Antminer 180GH 300 Units on: January 03, 2014, 06:12:59 PM
GODDAM IT.

This is the THIRD time UPS has shafted me (every antminer ive ordered). Just like the last 2 times, I was home all day for the package and left a note in the lobby with a buzzer code and instructions to come to the 4th floor.

Just like before, its past 7pm (its actually 9:45PM today) before the tracking status changes from 'on truck for delivery' to 'first attempt made'. Its too late to schedule a will-call with UPS.

What can I do about this? Its obviously not Bitmain's fault, but im seriously pissed off that once again the UPS delivery truck decided to skip me and mark me as 'attempt made' when no such thing took place. UPS call center of course gives less than half of a f**k.
Gotta complain to UPS, odds are the driver didn't want to go up to the 4th floor.

Yes complain to UPS, but track down a corporate number, not the call center.

I did. I requested they hold it for pickup at 5pm - "we cant do that until after a first delivery attempt"
I called at 10pm after the first attempt shows as being at 9:45PM (I was home, no notice or buzzer attempt) - "you had to call earlier, it will go out tomorrow for a 2nd attempt. we will have the dispatch center call you before 10am"
By 11:30 am today, no callback. so i called them - "oh, well the driver today is sick so its a replacement, we cant do anything to make sure they deliver before 3pm"

I am going away for the weekend, so basically I have been shafted for 4 days (thursday afternoon - monday afternoon) of potential mining time.

TO SUSHI/BITMAIN : This is unacceptable to me. Ive never had issues with FedEX, Purolator, or canada Post. BUT for the third time, UPS has not come to my building/apartment and has been a nightmare to deal with. Please consider establishing other shipping options such as DHL if possible. i would gladly pay $50 more to avoid this incompetency. The time wasted contacting UPS and the mining proceeds lost to these issues far outweighs any cheaper prices they have vs. DHL/Fedex/etc

3003  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Open] Bitfury Bare Chips ~2.6 Gh/s - Gathering Interest on: January 03, 2014, 02:38:41 AM
I would be interested in 20 chips
3004  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: January 03, 2014, 02:37:02 AM
Ok ! Thanks for all the help ! It worked.

Ok, I think I even know what I did...

I downloaded the Advanced IP scanner, turned off the wife's computer. Then I ran the network scan with the IP scanner. It had somehow set itself to 192.168.1.99, after I had held down the little black reset button for 3 seconds.

Weird I know.

I beleive that was the default set into the reset feature.

I am now running 10 sticks 5 on two different 10 port hubs

why do all the reading come as a multiple of 512? (512,1024,1536,2048,2560)
3006  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: PRE-SHIP AGAIN! SOLD OUT [GROUP BUY 5] 3.15 BTC Bitmain Antminer 180GH 300 Units on: January 03, 2014, 12:12:21 AM
Delivery van just dropped off my units.
Very nice indeed to see 6-pin PCIe connectors on the units now !
Thanks again Bitmain and Sushi !

looks great! I notice that between the 2nd(?) gen boards (first with the red/black terminals) and this, capacitors were added on pads C608/C609 in the image. Im just curious what these are for- related to the added PCI-e connector or not fully implemented at the time for some other form of current control?
3007  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: [GUIDE] BitFury Miner Support/Tuning on: January 03, 2014, 12:04:35 AM
That is odd.  I use the SD card formatter 4.0 for mine. It takes two passes to get the whole 4G card with overwrite but I can then re-image it just fine.

I was having 'semaphore timeout' errors with win32diskimager in my Win7 64bit installation with 2 different (wrecked by the bitfury) SD cards and neither would format with SD CARD FORMATTER 4.0.

I loaded up my secondary Win7 32bit OS on the laptop (a Thinkpad T510) and was able to format and then image 1 SDS card. However, the second card would freeze up the formatting program around 90-100% and I got the same 'semaphore timeout' from Win32diskimager. I imagine this SD may be corrupt or damaged
3008  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: January 02, 2014, 10:13:18 PM
So how do you actually start this thing mining?

I logged into it, it's set for 192.168.1.4

I'm trying to apply my eligius pool at Pool 1  stratum+tcp://stratum.mining.eligius.st:3334

use ONLY stratum.mining.eligius.st:3334
3009  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain AntMiner S1 Setup on: January 02, 2014, 09:14:07 PM
Thanks dogie,

I've connected everything and I checked the log of the Antminer. I can see it on my network at 192.168.1.4 (yes I did change it's IP address), it's plugged into the router

I tried to enter my pool address,  stratum+tcp://stratum.mining.eligius.st:3334    ...and hit save and apply, but it just sits there and does not do anything...little spinner thing going.

Also, I get the following error:

Sun Dec  1 21:58:00 2013 daemon.info sysinit: ntpd: could not resolve peer 1.openwrt.pool.ntp.org, skipping
Sun Dec  1 21:58:00 2013 daemon.info sysinit: ntpd: bad address '0.openwrt.pool.ntp.org'
Sun Dec  1 21:58:00 2013 daemon.info sysinit: ntpd: could not resolve peer 0.openwrt.pool.ntp.org, skipping
Sun Dec  1 21:58:04 2013 daemon.info sysinit: Alarm clock

I have no idea how to start cgminer on this thing. Is it automatic?? I went into the software and tried to start up cgminer, but nothing happens..

Any ideas would be appreciated.

your pools are set up wrong - leave out the "stratum+tcp://" and try again. Thats why the errors show it cycling pools and sounding the 'not connected' alarm
3010  Economy / Goods / Re: Casascius coins for sale - shipping from Canada on: January 02, 2014, 06:45:09 PM
would you entertain a (local?) trade:

MY 1oz Silver w/ gold accents 1BTC 2013 coin (only 700 made) for YOUR 2x 0.5BTC silvers with the 2nd gen hologram.

I am located in downtown Toronto, just west of Lansdowne. Shipping (Xpresspost) is fine too.

alternatively, I would entertain 1 of the 0.5BTC silvers and 1 of the 0.5BTC brass

the last few times i was charged roughly $44.80 CAD (+/- 10%, i dont have the actual receipt). I elected to avoid the $1900 price stamp this time, because thats enough tax to ensure the miner will have problems breaking even

also, UPS often adds some bu**s*it trivial charges for $15 or so
3012  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S1 Art on: January 02, 2014, 04:08:45 PM
i actually got 1500w enermax to power all the 3 in normal mode... however as soon as i overclock them to 200 each the psu trips... i think either the ants pull way more than 12v rails can handle or there needs to be proper power distribution.. the thing with enermax 1500w only v3 and v5 are dedicated the rest are shared...

whats the 12V rail amperage(s) for the PSU?

I know that Im able to use a Corsair CX600M (553W on 12V) for a 400MHz antminer and a Raidmax RX-730SS (2x24A rails) to power a second antminer, with enough power left on a rail to add ~60W for some bitfury equipment

My 3rd antminer is expected today, and I just picked up a BEAUTIFUL ULTRA X3 800W *fully* modular PSU for only $40 BNIB. - 4 dedicated PCI-E connector ports on the PSU and even the mobo cable is modular, so i just have a small wire crimped to the back of the PSU for the PS_ON signal and 2 pci-e lines ready to go. When the time comes for antminer 4 or to tune back down to 350, I might be able to run 2 ants on it
3013  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Bitmain AntMiner U1 Tips & Tricks on: December 31, 2013, 11:37:45 PM
has anyone taken their U-1 apart yet to see if a better thermal paste can be used to keep it cooler? I want to see some pics if so.

I haven't even got mine home yet but from looking at it the U1 uses a thermally conductive pad between the PCB and heat sink.

To increase cooling you would increase the surface area of the heat sink or increase air flow.

stick a little adhesive-backed heatsink to the U1. you can get them on ebay for pretty cheap, i just got some like this that you could fit 3 or 4 on a U1:
3014  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales NEW STOCK ***NOW SHIPPING*** on: December 31, 2013, 11:34:32 PM
OK - he's the info from Dave:

1) $15,000 for a reel of 3000 chips.  Orders are pre-paid only and non-cancel / non-return.  Payment needs to be by Jan 7th via wire transfer or BTC. Available for Delivery mid Feb.

2) We are going to order a roll to break up and sell by chips.   Singles will be put up on the store once they are physically in hand - probably mid-late Feb.  We don't have a price yet per chip.

If you are interested in a full roll, please contact either sales@ or support@ and we will get back to you as soon as possible.  I'll give everyone a heads up when I'm about ready to put them up in the store once we get them in hand mid-Feb 2014.

Thanks and Happy New Year!

-Jason

mid-feb? by that time $5/GH will be the going rate for machines, and these chips are only capable of ~2.5GH.

3016  Economy / Auctions / Re: Butterfly Labs 680 GH/s SET of Mining Rigs (500+60+60+60) on: December 31, 2013, 08:13:23 PM
Unfortunatelly he don't wrote it is an bid auction, he wrote it is like a fixed price auction.

i would love to hear what is the difference between a 'fixed-price auction' and posting in the for sale section?

AFAIC, if you post in the auction section with a timeframe, you expect to sell to the highest bidder
3017  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Bitmain AntMiner U1 Tips & Tricks on: December 31, 2013, 08:08:34 PM
Installing a 10K ohm at R2 and leaving the 1K at R1 would increase the voltage to .88 volts.
Seems like that would be relativity easy if you have a 10K ohm resistor (Surface Mount 603) laying around.

I understand that aspect of it.
My question is more to the point of whether increasing voltage will allow the higher hash rates to be attained stably.

you can likely increase the frequency by 50MHz without touching the voltage. but to push beyond 275MHz you will need to increase voltage or start seeing some errors and rejects start to submit.

for reference, the antminer systems are 1.1V for operation between 350-400MHz
3018  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain AntMiner S1 Setup on: December 31, 2013, 06:24:19 PM
I've seen some pics of newer units... Did they replace the power connectors so you don't have to strip wires?

I beleive they now include a 2" PCI connector lead thats screwed in for you now so that cables need not be butchered
3019  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Little Big stash of Casascius coins.... on: December 31, 2013, 03:22:56 PM
I am selling the gold-plated silver 1BTC 2013 coins for 2.5BTC
ask for more

irony? At 2.5BTC each they are still available. I could go lower to 2.35 BTC for fellow Canadians (shipping included in both prices)
3020  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Titan Bitcoin - Silver 1 oz coin is now available on: December 31, 2013, 03:21:28 PM
They sell coins in the CASASCIUS style with the private key attached to the coin.
They don't. This is what's under the hologram :

whut?  Shocked

I just receive my 2 goldalloy coins yesterday and they look great (1 is a little looser in the airtite and rattles, but its not much of an issue). I ordered the privatekey style (rather than 2FA) and am/was expecting a full privatekey under the hologram, like with a casascius.

can you please clarify what is under my hologram? If its just the firstbits like shown above
