3001  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Sol Noctis - Large quantity on ebay, interesting opportunity? Under $40 each! on: March 22, 2022, 08:55:42 PM
Thats a good point about the hologram shape and size. Whatever about sourcing
different "off the shelf" circular holograms I recon holograms to fit the segment
on one face would have to be specifically ordered which would mean a large quantity I suspect.

On the ebay listings some of the coins do show label/hologram residue
also its clear there is no indentation on the face to insert the private key, a sticky label
has to be used under the hologram.
3002  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Impact of bitcoin if Satoshi Identity is revealed on: March 22, 2022, 12:55:03 PM
One of the reason for high trust on bitcoin is that the bitcoin owner Satoshi identity is hidden. If all of sudden Satoshi come in the public and his identity is revealed, do you think it will have a bad impact on the bitcoin price and it can dump?  Or do you think that bitcoin price will pump on this revelation? Mind you that i am talking about the real satoshi, not the fake ones claiming themselves to be satoshi.

THE reason of high trust of bitcoin is that there is no hidden code, no back door. no red button that can cause an instant sell off of all coin by any reference client dev

the "reference" client everyone follows is open source. (even if there is a hierarchy to who gets to edit or add code decisions)

the only issue remains, is that core is deemed the "reference" / core client everyone should follow and there is only a couple 'maintainers' that have the github privilege to merge code into final release candidate software versions which everyone follows.

but satoshi is not one of those maintainers, so it doesnt mean anything to the code/trust of the spftware if satoshi is found or not.
.. infact the real identity of the current core maintainers is known and no one actually cares about their privilege of merging code.
no one is in fear that those maintainers could be arrested and forced to hand over their github logins for interference purposes of changing code

i do not believe that satoshi wanted to intentionally hoard and keep the private keys of his 2009-10 activities. because back in his day the coin had no significant value, thus they had no worth in hoarding

i believe due to making code edits and updates he probably lost alot of private keys or never intended to keep them in the first place. and so even if found. as long as no one finds his private keys or forces him to spend the coin. then the price will not change directly.

of course emotional speculation of social drama will cause some kind of indirect change. but that would be just a 'famous for 5 minutes' temporary price pump/dump. and become a meaningless wiggle on the price chart after a few days of correction

but with that said, i do not believe the creator kept wallet backup's of keys and so cant sign any utxo to spend coins nor even sign any message to prove himself(the only proof the community will accept) and so the creator will never be found/proved

I really believe and have considered almost everything franky1 posted above.

I never considered though that Satoshi may have voluntarily removed him/her self from
the project at an opportune time without leaving any chances of claiming ownership
of mined coins, this for the benefit of the project. Satoshi was definitely a forward planner,
they would have to be to create Bitcoin in the first place.

Knowing that the Satoshi identity could cause turmoil then and in the future would surely
mean walking away, closing the door and throwing away the key....forever.

So yea if it ever arose that Satoshi's identity was discovered or it was revealed
nothing would change in relation to the day to day operation of the protocol, but
the speculation in the market would be definitely noticeable.....short term.
3003  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union | League // Super |Sixes|Sevens | Pro14 | Cups & Tours | Olympics. on: March 21, 2022, 11:46:33 PM
Rugby League

I made my first 2 Rugby bets on Rollbit as follows

Melbourne Storm - Parramatta Eels      Money Line   Melbourne Storm @ 1.30   Taken Amount: 0.073 mBTC   Possible Payout: 0.103 mBTC

Penrith Panthers - Newcastle Knights      Money Line   Penrith Panthers @ 1.19   Taken Amount: 0.073 mBTC   Possible Payout: 0.087 mBTC

The only slight downside is on Rollbit I can only bet with FIAT eventhough I loaded BTC
so I will be posting my wagers in $ rather than BTC until they introduce crypto betting.
Not a deal breaker either way.
3004  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Sol Noctis - Large quantity on ebay, interesting opportunity? Under $40 each! on: March 21, 2022, 08:15:44 PM
Thanks for the response! I completely agree with all of your comments, although it is interesting, as the description indicates residue from the hologram.

I wanted to clarify a few items, as I was not trying to do this for profit, but rather add some color/usefulness to the couple of coins I bought.

I ordered 1 Bull and 3 Eagles as I absolutely love the design.  I was thinking of making a similar hologram, but distinctively different (again, my intent was not to resell or pass off as a fake).  I do know there are usually a required number when ordering custom holograms, so I wanted to see if anyone else was interested, as I think these look a ton better with the blue hologram than without. And if we did work together on a hologram, I am not trying to make any profit, rather trying to make the couple I ordered look better.

Thanks!

Mark

I get what you are trying to do.

For me vetting one of these coins or any other peeled coin is really nice and a less
expensive way of acquiring a well known Bitcoin numismatic but its incomplete.

By reloading it and applying a new not original hologram you essentially turn it into
a DIY self-funded coin and it will never be anything more and as long as it is advertised
as such at a re-sale its all good IMO.
3005  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Malaysian Ministry proposes cryptocurrencies as legal tender? on: March 21, 2022, 02:20:21 PM
Much the same as El Salvador before its Bitcoin as legal tender move I know nothing
of Malaysia so I guess they can see a positive way forward for their economy by
following El Salvador's pioneering move.

I recon if this has already reached the public domain a lot of the ground work has already
been done by the relevant government officials and the feel it will get the green light.

Powerful win by Swiatek in the final, I really thought Sakkari was going to be stronger.
She is highly competitive and will be very hard to beat next time out. I didnt bet on either, I couldnt
call it because both were playing top Tennis on the lead up to the final.

Great win by Fritz over Nadal.
I checked the odds after the 1st set and put a small wager on Nadal @ 1.95 on ROLLBIT sports bettingvis now live!

I didnt see the match but it seems Nadal was injured in some way, anyway it was a
savage run in 2021 so far and no doubt he will win more.
Congrats to Fritz, thats his biggest career win.

I hope this isnt too serious for Nadal

I wonder when the Rabbitohs and The Eels are going to show up? They both have
tough draws in round 3. Rabbitohs v Roosters and Storm v Eels.

I'll wait with my picks until later in the week.

Timelord I checked your round 2 picks and you had a good return, just 2 losses.

Round Two:

Melbourne Storm - South Sydney Rabbitohs   Money Line   Melbourne Storm @ 1.28   Taken Amount: 0.06 mBTC   Possible Payout: 0.08 mBTC
St George/Illawarra Dragons - Penrith Panthers   Money Line   Penrith Panthers @ 1.28   Taken Amount: 0.06 mBTC   Possible Payout: 0.08 mBTC
Sydney Roosters - Manly Sea Eagles      Money Line   Sydney Roosters @ 1.72   Taken Amount: 0.06 mBTC   Possible Payout: 0.10 mBTC - (battle for last place)
Gold Coast Titans - New Zealand Warriors   Money Line   Gold Coast Titans @ 1.42   Taken Amount: 0.06 mBTC   Possible Payout: 0.09 mBTC
Cronulla Sharks - Parramatta Eels      Money Line   Parramatta Eels @ 1.66      Taken Amount: 0.06 mBTC   Possible Payout: 0.10 mBTC
North Queensland Cowboys - Canberra Raiders   Money Line   Canberra Raiders @ 1.72   Taken Amount: 0.06 mBTC   Possible Payout: 0.10 mBTC
Newcastle Knights - Wests Tigers      Money Line   Newcastle Knights @ 1.42   Taken Amount: 0.06 mBTC   Possible Payout: 0.09 mBTC
Canterbury Bulldogs - Brisbane Broncos      Money Line   Brisbane Broncos @ 1.88   Taken Amount: 0.06 mBTC   Possible Payout: 0.11 mBTC - Might be a tough game!

I'm not yet decided. Im thinking Parramatta Panthers for sure, possibly the Sydney Roosters,
Melbourne Storm but the Rabbitohs might bounce back from last week...

I had 3 from 4 in the end and my Parlay on Ireland & France in the Six Nations.
Happy enough with that.

Sports Betting has gone live on Rollbit so I will be using that platform obviously
along with Nitrogensports going forward.

3008  Economy / Gambling / Re: Rollbit.com | Crypto's Most Rewarding Casino 👑 on: March 20, 2022, 05:48:09 PM
It was fantastic to see the sale was over within two minutes of time insanely fast compared to the last public sale which took around 58 minutes. The first Dutch auction format was not successful and funds were refunded and the next sale was normal and now over.

The sportsbook launch has come up with new signature and avatar which will be updated in the code once @Hhampuz present them for us in few days to celebrate the launch.Have gone through the sportsbook and it works perfectly fine for me with lot of my favourite games to bet upon

One more update the donation to Ukraine government has been sent around 100 ETH which is very good and appreciable on their part.Keep up the good work.

I'm delighted that Rollbit have launched their sports betting. I too had a look
at what is on offer and I'm particularly enthused to see a lot if not all the popular
Rugby tournaments listed.

Currently I'm using Sportsbet and NitrogenSports, Sportsbet have stopped
listing the United Rugby Championship for example so I'll be swapping Sportsbet for
Rollbit for sure.
3009  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Assumptions of People who don't know about bitcoin... Ki on: March 20, 2022, 05:41:17 PM
While it sucks, I really can't blame everyone. The first time I've heard about Bitcoin, I immediately shrugged it off after like 5 minutes of research because of how bizarre the concept is and how unlikely it was to succeed(this was like in 2013 or something). It took me a second time and with actual dedication(not half-assed) in learning about it that I finally grasped it. Hopefully the uneducated critics would also have their sort of "second coming" sometime in the near future.

Same as that, I first heard about Bitcoin around 2013 and my assumption were that
"the tokens were for gamers".

Unfortunately there will always be people who wont be interested, wont do enough
research, will think they know about it and will spread false information. The same
could be said about a lot of other things.
3010  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: March 20, 2022, 10:14:07 AM
I decided to stay awake and watch Nadal vs. Alcaraz and now I am regretting it. This match should be postponed, I never saw tennis match played in conditions as windy as this. Most of the points don't even look like tennis. Players are just guessing how the ball will be affected. Seems like Nadal is coping with it a bit better. We just had 4 consecutive breaks of serve in 2nd set, that is something for top 10 ATP on hard court Smiley

I was able to watch the first 2 sets of the match and then... I falling asleep Smiley without edging my bet on Alcaraz.
Double mistake Smiley since I have placed a bet immediately before the first break point of first set!  Undecided
Yes it was definitely a strange match with strong wind. Both players have committed a lot of unforced errors, and in the end of second set Nadal was "pretty confused". I think the lack of experience of Alcaraz weighed... however it's clear he is a strong talent ready to be in top 3 in a couple years.

Didn't see the game, but as what @Trofo describe regarding the condition, at least they could have postponed the match.

Anyhow, Nadal is the better player again, winning in 3 sets. Surprising to see Fritz over Rublev, but I reckon that Nadal will take home the trophy in this tournament. Might be 2 sets win for him in the finals (if conditions are good).

Same as Bitbollo, I watched the first 2 sets, it was late here so I had to go to bed.

The conditions got really crazy but Nadal was going to won regardless. The first
set showed for me a few things again about Alcaraz, his service game needs to
improve, he lost far too many points on serve. He was well able to break Nadal but
was breakable himself.

Nadal it is evident again is able to find a way. I dont think I'll be betting against him
in the final.

42 minutes gone and the Bulldogs v Broncos are tied at 4 points each, close game.

...just gone 10-8 and ive put a little bet on The Broncos.

Rugby Union

As predicted from the first game in the tournament France win for the first time in 12
years. They looked pretty much in control of yesterdays match and sealed the win 25-13

Ireland picked up some silverware too by sealing the Triple Crown trophy.

3012  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The House of Nakamoto: A Bitcoin store in Vienna, Austria on: March 19, 2022, 08:59:17 PM
Interesting.

I visited their website and clicked on "products" but it shows "UNDER CONSTRUCTION"

If you want to buy or sell Bitcoin in store I wonder do you require identification?

This is very different to have a physical store, it definitely normalises Bitcoin and
brings a degree of legitimacy to it for people in the area.

As Lucius posted about being careful about a physical attack from being in the store,
I guess it would be the same as coming from a bank.

Close battle between The Cronulla Sharks and Parramatta Eels. Sharks steel the win
with a conversion with the last play of the match. The highlights from the game

Sydney Roosters - 0.01 mBTC @ 1.82 - Taken amount 0.0181 mBTC.

Todays first game in the Six Nations Super Saturday served up a bit of a surprise,
Italy beat Wales with a last play conversion. I didnt see that coming and didnt even
watch the match. I heard the news while watching Ireland v Scotland. Thats Italy's first
win in the Six Nations in 7 years.

In the second game Ireland did their bit to winning the championship by securing a
bonus point win against Scotland its over to France v England to see what pans out
there and if either France or Ireland win.
3014  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Satoshi was dumb on: March 19, 2022, 08:53:06 AM
The fact that one person* didnt premine and didnt spend what was mined
cements the fact that the vision of Satoshi was to the future, the goal was to make sure
Bitcoin would succeed , not consider a personal bank account, after all Bitcoin is not
a $hitcoin.

OP should stay in their dreams.

* Satoshi's identity has not been determined so the use of 'he' and 'himself'
is not accurate, kind of suits the thread OP.

Good results for our bets today, The Panthers had a narrow win, all the hard work
was done in the first half and they didnt score in the second half strange,
the Dragons probably ran out of time.

And again with The Roosters, massive first half 22-0.

So I'm 2 from 2
Penrith Panthers - 0.04 mBTC @ 1.26 - Taken amount 0.0504 mBTC.

Sydney Roosters - 0.01 mBTC @ 1.82 - Taken amount 0.0181 mBTC.

Rugby Union - Six Nations SUPER SATURDAY

Final round tomorrow with all trams playing on the one day. France are in top
position and playing at home to visitors England, this is going to be a close one
I suspect but England could do Ireland a favour and beat France denying them
the championship....IF Ireland beat Scotland at home.

I see Alcaraz at +2.5 on Sportsbet so I'm just going for Alcaraz to win @ 2.24.

Its interesting that Nadal is still favourite even when not playing as well as he
is capable of and Alcaraz playing in good form.

Rublev is through to the other semi-final beating Dimitrov, he will face either Fritz
or Kecmanović, TBH I think he is good for the final. Interesting because he
has progressed to the semi without too much discussion about him.
3017  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: March 18, 2022, 09:58:11 AM
Nadal v Kyrgios

Just as the guys came onto the court I checked the odds on Sportsbet and they
were giving Kyrgios +4.5 @ 1.50 but unfortunately I didnt take it.

Kyrgios had the match there on a plate to win but unfortunately his mental
issues played a big part in his performance. I watched the match and was shocked
at the "Jekyll and Hyde" spectacle. I feel sorry for him but I guess that Nick.

Now to the next bit if business for Nadal....against Alcaraz.

Will Alcaraz be able to beat his Idol in a semi? while obviously Nadal is performing
sub par.
3018  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: 1$ per day crypto investment plan any good ? on: March 17, 2022, 08:50:51 PM
Is 1$ investment in crypto every day enough?

My first thought on this was NO! because in my country $1 is not very much and the fees
would be too much, you would have to consider a weekly or monthly exchange as others
have posted, but realising its 10% as mk4 posted of your income
so yes its enough, you have the right idea not to overstretch the investment
and leave yourself struggling with the essentials like utilities and expenses.

The time to start is not
The coin to start with is Bitcoin

Yea that was a close match, The Rabbitohs were quick off the mark in the second
half, thats the first win of the weekend but my bet was voided and I have no idea
why that is? I was refunded the 0.02mBTC so I've put that on The Panthers for tomorrow!

3020  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ukraine: Zelensky signed the law "On virtual assets" today on: March 17, 2022, 02:01:53 PM
According to Fedorov, crypto assets became a powerful tool of financing the Armed forces of Ukraine since the beginning of the war, and the crypto market is one of the most dynamic markets of the digital economy, which is also actively developing in Ukraine. Fedorov says the law legalizes foreign and Ukrainian crypto exchanges, allows banks to open accounts for crypto companies, allows Ukrainians to protect their investments into virtual assets and means that the state guarantees court protection of the rights related to virtual assets.

I think that at this moment only this bold part is important, because it turned out that most of the help in the first days of the war came through cryptocurrencies. As world bureaucrats negotiated and sat in their comfortable armchairs, ordinary people provided their support to people in need. All this without any approval and risk that someone will intercept their donations, and also completely anonymously. With or without this law, nothing significant will change in terms of what is happening on the ground.

Good point Lucius, Bitcoins doors are open to who ever wants to come in but
unfortunately not everyone realise that. A lot - the majority of people will follow what the
government and authorities say and the fact that the Ukrainian government
have give the green light there could be more of an adoption by Ukrainians

to protect their investments into virtual assets and means that the state guarantees court protection of the rights related to virtual assets.
