3021  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Hamster powered races on: January 04, 2021, 03:28:44 AM
Never heard of this one in particular, the same race that I know of is marble races which are streamed by some Twitch streamers. This one looks fun I have to agree and I think that it will be a fair race because I do not see any hamster trained or bred to be a racing champion which means that a house pet hamster could be a champion. You also have to consider the hamster ball.
3022  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ESPORTS - predictions and tips (Dota 2, CS:GO, LoL) on: January 04, 2021, 02:43:18 AM
The following have been permanently banned from participating in Valve events as of Jan 1, 2021.
- Teams: Newbee
- Players: Moogy, AQ, Wizard, Waixi, Faith
- Reason for Ban: Match Fixing

Link: https://www.esports.com/en/newbee-and-faith-banned-for-life-by-valve-for-matchfixing-92831

This could still be appealed. remember Solo's 322 throw? He was permanently banned from Starladder but an appeal made it that he will only be banned for some years, but considering that this is a Chinese team and Valve never wanting to host another big event in China, I think that this one will be a rough one.
3023  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you ever bet on SRL events? on: January 04, 2021, 02:09:16 AM
The machine games are very dangerous, unpredictable sometimes there is not even 3 goal in 10 SRL matches. I usually like to bet over or under 2.5 goals but get busted on a series of losses due to blindly following the odds of SRL events. I don't think, the odds are in our favor because the results are usually predetermined. It is harder to make a prediction on such algorithmic games.
I wouldn't say that it is unfair but I think these games are the most fair unless an internal intervention is done to predetermine games, I do not think that it will be the case because constant losses from players will be unattractive for them which causes them to losses their customer. Wouldn't it be better that the match is harder to predict because that means you are getting entertained. Also, predetermined games are not something new, I remember back then, SRL Horse race games have predetermined outcome changed every week.

Reserve the Champagne for 45k. Institutional Investors are still pouring in the Capitalist Money so it will be too soon to celebrate. Grin Grin Grin Grin

Why exactly $45k? Are you suggesting we'll never reach $50k?  Grin
It is just a random number that I think is reachable yet not impossible at the same time.

Maybe we're out of Champagne, haha!

3026  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2021 - will this be the year bitcoin? on: January 02, 2021, 09:42:22 AM
There are many very respected investors and 'experts' that think 2021 is going to be a rewarding year for those of us who continue to hodl our bitcoins.  And new future investors will want to get into crypto soon.

Making price predictions for my coins is not something I am much into doing but I have read some data that indicates that a six figure price for bitcoin in 2021 is very possible.
Nobody really knows what happens next, most of these experts are just speculating, they want to have a say in the current situation. I hope that they are right even if they are just speculating, future investors will get a lot of profit or not depending on the speed of each spike.

Nothing wrong with making your own predictions, what's wrong is that you will force your predictions towards other people. The data is promising a big price hike, but who knows right? Remember when they did not believe that bitcoin will reach a certain amount.
3027  Economy / Economics / Re: Loan scam in India allegedly headed by a Chinese Narional on: January 02, 2021, 08:56:06 AM
Thank you for the information. indeed this is very vulnerable and needs to be avoided, considering that India has a very neat way of committing this type of fraud. although not all, and although encouraged by one person who is a Chinese citizen, it certainly adds to the image of trust in India getting worse. Just imagine, just by using the Android application, this can happen, especially if you use hardware that has a larger capacity weight.
Indian scam call centers are definitely branching out their scam expertise. This is the first time that I have heard of such scam, most Scam Call Center in India is doing Tech Support Scams, IRS Scams, Refund Scams and Vacation Scams, although there are some that meddles with cryptocurrency, I never bat an eye because most scammers tend to go for the cold hard cash. This scams are really tainting the reputation of the hardworking and honest Indians, even their people are mad at these type of people. This one scam though is something that is pretty impressive because they even have an app to make it look legitimate.
3028  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can you really 'Sell High and Buy Low' in this 2020 BITCOIN Bull Run? on: January 02, 2021, 08:16:11 AM
If you are reading the current news articles involving bitcoin, it should be clear to you that the prices will only go up, companies are still pouring in their money in bitcoin which means there are less bitcoin in the market which means the prices will only start rising. You can do the old adage but the profit is not that high which discourages me to do the same thing at the moment.

Sell high doesn't mean you need to sell at a much higher price. The price isn't stable in a particular value, there is fluctuation. When you have good volume of bitcoin it is possible to sell for $29200 and buy it back for $29000 making a small profit. The 2020 market had continued progress in the price along with correction which lets users to buy low and sell high.
Exactly, if you made a profit from selling your bitcoin at the price that you sold it then it is a win, the bad thing right now is that you will get greedy and try to go for an all in, always remember that bitcoin market is unstable.
3029  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: How many coins/tokens do you think will survive in 2021? on: January 02, 2021, 07:33:51 AM
There are also tokens that are dying because of the low demand and almost no support left anymore from its investors and mainly from the developers. The surge in the creation of token is still expected because the market is in the surge, they'll just join the defi hype.
But not that many of them will be highly appreciated by everyone and they're likely to fail than to succeed.
The reason that this tokens die is because most of them are just a quick cash grabs from the developers, if the hype continues, there will be more tokens created and I hope that some of the most sincere developers and loyal investors get a successful token out into the market. Best course of action right now is to stick to the stable ones because of uncertainty and prevalence of shit coins.
3030  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Alert] Phishing websites on: January 02, 2021, 06:53:07 AM
After entering the password, the site asks you to download a file, I have not tried it, but it is dangerous to download that file or create any new wallet.
If you do not mind to explore a little more about this website, you can try doing it in a Virtual Machine and do what was instructed, to make sure that you are secure you can do a double layered Virtual Machine. I am not that tech savvy but a Youtuber that I am following is doing this kinds of stuff that involves downloading suspicious files and getting attacked by a ransomware.
Finally, as you mentioned, the website design can be found in many sites.
Website design is the biggest giveaway if you are suspicious of one, most scam websites do not even change the template or texts on the website to at least sell it to an average user.
3031  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FOMO has started for Bitcoin on: January 02, 2021, 06:07:34 AM
FOMO made me buy bitcoin at 28000 and sold them at 29500 and again made me buy for 29400 and I'm not regretting yet.
Though I should be clear that I'm not playing with all my money here. 80% of my cryopto balance now resides as stable coin while I'm betting the rest 20% for a price of 31K for bitcoin. And to add up, I have zero altcoin balance at the moment.
It is because you are aiming for short term which helps you a lot, but if the case is otherwise then that means that you might lose a lot of money and the time it takes to get a decent profit will be long. That is a good thing that you are splitting your coins, mine is on a safer side of 50/50. To other people that reads this, this might work for me but not for you same as the quote above, do your own research because the decision fall on you in the end.
3032  Economy / Economics / Re: Will bitcoin ever succeed as a currency on: January 02, 2021, 05:16:51 AM
Cant you see people buying and selling stuff and services all over the forum? People from all over the world.
It already succeeded
But is it capable of mass adoption like everyone circlejerks about? Considering the limited supply I do not think so. I think the people buying and selling stuff using bitcoin and other cryptocurrency falls more on barter or trading. I have to agree that it succeeded but not as a currency, I would say it succeeded on removing the middleman (sort of) in transactions online.
3033  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where to check the All Time High of bitcoin based on average of main exchanges? on: January 02, 2021, 04:38:11 AM
There are two options that you can use.

Either https://www.coingecko.com/en or https://coinmarketcap.com/

But preev.com is enough for checking Bitcoin price.
I only use Google search to check the prices, I just type in btc to usd or btc to php(my local currency), is there a difference between using coingecko, coinmarketcap and preev? Does Google search do not get the average of main exchanges? I am genuinely curious.
3034  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Largest Scale Adoption Seen To Date on: January 02, 2021, 04:06:53 AM
It's bad for crypto but it's also what could've been done with cash.

I think it's up to governments and the legal system to deal with this sort of thing though as the same thing could've happened with cash or bank transfers(like cheques where it's possible to get someone else to cash it). Fundamentally, people live somewhere and have to answer to the legal systems they're in. It's going to be much better to get a site like PH banned by firewall from the country if it doesn't agree with that country's legal system). As long as it's not in a "grey" sector and is perfectly illegal then a country should be able to facilitate its ban or enforce against people accessing it.
It is not bad for crypto to be honest, there are other similar sites that offer the same content but we did not bat an eye about it. It is just that PH is a big community of uploaders and viewers, the best course of action for PH is to heavily moderate the traffic and the videos that are being uploaded in their platform. I have to agree that legal sector should get involved with this type of cases because there are people out there getting shamed because they participated in a revenge porn. VISA and Mastercard's move are understandable because in a business perspective, if your connection is tainted with controversy, the best course of action is cutting ties with them.
3035  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] Gamma Coin > Fake Team with stock photos on: January 01, 2021, 10:19:55 AM
I just hope people will do some basic research before sending any money to this. Because for those, who will not see this thread and only encounter the project via net and will be attracted by their airdop or selfdrop, they will be screwed. The photos are blurred so should be a warning signal already.
The funny thing about this post is the website used a stock image of Dentist, people will fall for it no matter what, it basically weeds out stupid from smart people. Just checked their website, it is already down so it is a relief because they will not be scamming anyone anytime soon, the new website name is what we should be on the look out for.
3036  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] ideltaprotocol - AI generated images on: January 01, 2021, 09:27:27 AM
You quoted my reserved post from 2019 which I edited yesterday to update my list of scam projects.   Smiley

Anyway good catch. I am also fascinated with this AI generated images but for a different purpose. I am curious if you know what AI Image generator are they using because I only know one and that one is not perfect because it gives away details to a trained eye that it is generated.

I don't know exactly what tools they had employed to create these images, but this one from NVidia https://github.com/NVlabs/stylegan is able to generate photos of high quality. With this tool it is possible to generate photos without any distortions, even a trained eye would have hard times trying to distinguish reality from fakes.

Take a look at this website, for example https://generated.photos/faces
Did some exploration on those websites, they seem to be more of quality than the one that I know of especially the generated.photos. Good thing that we have AI generated image detectors because this could be a stepping stool for a new type of identity theft.
3037  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Huge Scam Livestream on Youtube right now on: January 01, 2021, 08:45:34 AM
Those are a dime-a-dozen to be honest.
So many of them going on people stopped reporting it here
Even if there is a lot of them popping up, I think that we still should do our part on reporting them because that means that they are victorious. Only when people stopped fighting for good will evil reign over. I know that it sounds futile but this could create awareness towards the platform or other users and curious onlookers to join the fight, the people who fight this scams are fighting the good fight.

Regarding the livestream, the best that you can do is post an awareness article on your social platforms to warn others about this so in the near future when they encounter this kind of scheme at the very least they have an idea of what it is so they do not fall for this scams.
3038  Economy / Economics / Re: Money on: January 01, 2021, 07:52:42 AM

For some, yes. Many in-game currencies are also sold/traded in the real world.
But for a wider community, legal tender, it won't be accepted. Perhaps only a few shops will accept it.
But that means that your first claim that virtual current exist outside the system invalid. Even if it is not accepted in a bigger community, it is traded in real time right? How about Axie Infinity? They have Small Love Potion as the virtual currency that can be traded for real money and they are a booming community.
3039  Economy / Economics / Re: Out of Reach on: January 01, 2021, 07:17:07 AM
Yes most of us are aiming to have at least 1 whole BTC,
But does it really matter if we couldn't reach it right now?
Yes BTC is becoming so expensive or too much for most of us but it doesn't mean that we have to give up on it.
As long as we could save even a small amount regularly then for sure one day we could achieve it and gain what we are aiming for.
I do think that not reaching 1 Bitcoin is a lesson that we all should take to the heart, this serves as a reminder that what we could've owned a lot for 20 years ago could've been the catalyst that will change our lives, a reminder that doubting the potential of something or someone will not get you far. You could still get 1 Bitcoin, it is not impossible at best, you just need to have a patience to find the right time to buy one because the market is volatile and prices could go down.
3040  Economy / Economics / Re: Money on: January 01, 2021, 06:38:06 AM
Anyone can create a virtual currency, only used inside the system. For example, In-game currency, like money in GTA V. You can even rent a hooker with it.
But it stops right there. You can't use it outside the system. If you are trying to make it a competing legal tender, you will have problems with the authority.
I do not think so, virtual currency can be used outside the system. Take Old School Runescape Gold, most players participate in RWT(Real World Trading) where they sell the gold in game for cash. Currency is a complicated topic.

To OP, the reason that someone does not just make their own currency is because they lack authority, if you have a vision for the future but no one is taking you seriously then you are as good as a fanatic that is shouting at the void. Also, you need to consider that if anyone can make their own legal tender then that could result in inflation.
