4001  Economy / Economics / Re: Here is the biggest problem with cryptos on: July 30, 2020, 03:59:44 AM
Fees, Charges or whatever we may call it is not a problem at all. Just think of it like a vehicle, it won't run without a gasoline/diesel, right? So, we must accept it that way and won't take every fees as a burden. After all, it has a lot of help for us especially in this Pandemic where we just need to stay home.

Exactly, this analogy is on point. Think of those fees as a payment for supporting your services, I do not see the problem with that. If your site gets a decent traffic then that would mean that you wouldn't mind paying those services supporting you, if you are selfish enough then you might as well create all the supporting services so you can hog all the profits, just because they are using crypto as a financial instrument guarantees you to be whining about how greedy you are.
4002  Economy / Economics / Re: Investing in Life Insurance using Cryptocurrency on: July 30, 2020, 03:19:31 AM
I Disagree, because even people with limited budget will have insurance because of the Virus.
Imagine the threat in our life now.
Many were buying Health insurance this days, those who really see the importance of life insurance will try to acquire life insurance for their families, life is uncertain now but having life insurance especially this time of Pandemic should be a priority but not to those who have lost their job since their priorities is their everyday essentials. I do hope people who don't believe in life insurance will still try to secure having their own life insurance with health coverage even this Pandemic only, there are term insurance that are cheaper and affordable now.
Not everyone from every country can't afford a life insurance even if they want to, some government backed insurance in my country is very inefficient because there are a lot of delays because of bureaucratic paper works and the salary cuts are so big that it outweighs its long term benefits because people will be using the insurance as a way to sustain their living. In my country, the cost of living is too high and not everyone have the financial knowledge to invest in life insurance, plus most of the working force is in contractual rather than regular so most of them do not get that much working benefits.

Cryptocurrency based life insurance is a good innovation but there is still an elephant in the room that we need to talk about and that is adoption and how do we circulate the cryptocurrency that is contributed by our member so they can get the compound interest when they come at the age of retirement, insurance is very complicated in my opinion, but this has a potential if we have adressed the problems that hinder this innovation.
4003  Economy / Economics / Re: Cash Is Trash on: July 29, 2020, 08:07:11 AM
Never heard of this guy before since I don't know much about stocks etc, but I do know the fact that cash is definitely not trash and anyone who believes that are easily some of the dumbest people in the world.

Physical FIAT will always be relevant due to decades of reliance on this payment system. Digital payment systems will never overtake physical FIAT in terms of popularity etc in my opinion.
Bitcoin purist is not a good thing at all. I agree with the fact that cash is not trash and I would like to elaborate it so it can be seen at a bigger perspective, cash is the keystone that supports the bridge that is free market, cash will stay for long because this helps businesses and small businesses at that to be part of the economy even if they do not use bitcoin, besides the fact that not every commodity and services can be paid through bitcoin, cash plays a big role in making that problem go away, so for all bitcoin purist out there, consider balance between fiat and cryptocurrency.
4004  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Rise of Bitcoin on: July 29, 2020, 06:47:53 AM
It reached $11,200 yesterday and now it went back to $10,800. Well, it is hard to give out some speculation as that of what you wanted to hear. But this market movement showed a good sign that the after effect of halving is already started. Thus, if the major resistance will gonna broke we can expect it to have a good major bull run in upcoming weeks or months.
Why is it that everytime the price reach a good profit level, everyone posts this kind of thread, no offense but in my opinion the rise of bitcoin started a long time ago, we are now in the limbo and experiencing the benefits of it, I do not think that the the increased in price show any significance rather than the holders have taken a profit from holding their bitcoin for a long time, this is just another bump in the prices and I think we should not hold it too dear. Trust me, when the prices go up again another thread like these will surely pop-up, I am not killjoy but I think there are more things to be grateful for rather than prophesizing that bitcoin has risen again.
4005  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What bitcoin adoption really is. on: July 29, 2020, 06:09:40 AM
Bitcoin is also good for purchasing things we want, that is why there is already existing establishment that allows bitcoin as payment, they know how good and convenient the use of mobile devices as our wallet for payment. Fiat currency is good for daily expenses because bitcoin cannot use to buy small things or cheap prices, using fiat will be good for that. Maybe there are some things that will be suited for the bitcoin as payment.
Having that model for spending bitcoin is a very nice balance, unlike other bitcoin purist who try to push bitcoin as the sole currency for any transaction, this thread is a nice breath of fresh air to all the other thread that are dominated by purist, I like this concept even more, maybe the mass adoption that we need is that bitcoin will become a nation's reserve currency aside from gold and USD. In my opinion, the adoption that we should aim for is free market and liberty to use cryptocurrency everytime we buy or sell things.
4006  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Late Show with Stephen Colbert calls bitcoin a scam on: July 29, 2020, 04:25:58 AM
Well I guess there's nothing wrong calling the late incident in twitter a 'bitcoin scam', I would react violently if he said' bitcoin is a scam' different meaning, different purpose but if what he really want to tell is that bitcoin is a scam, then we should consider him uneducated about bitcoin. Anyways who believes on a comedian about these certain technical things? He's a television host but who is he to call it a scam on his own? I guess this might also affect the bitcoin somehow since that was broadcasted on a national television, maybe some people didn't not continue investing on bitcoin after seeing it. Anyways seeing bitcoin on television makes me glad, even how hard they try to condemn it  Cheesy
I also had that thought at first because of the title which is really miseading a lot of people, I do think that OP should work on the title because the thread wasn't really connected with the title. Regarding the Twitter scam, it is very sad but at the same time infuriating because people fall for this scam knowing that it is too good to be true. The quote above is an example of misleading information, the host takes the blame for a improperly worded title, to be clear, the host calls out on the Twitter scams not the bitcoin itself, that two is entirely different.
4007  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Scammers are back with another trick. Be alert!!! on: July 29, 2020, 03:49:34 AM
That is a very big help, you can move this post to the Beginner's or make another thread there, there are newbies there and I think that this is really helpful.

Did they report this scam to the proper authority or Youtube is still letting it go astray because they pump in numbers? Can the address be blacklisted so that they can't move the stolen funds?

I find this scammers really admirable because they are trying the most obvious scams that have been long busted and they can still garner a profit, this persistence is admirable and disgusting at the same time, to all the victims of this scam or any other kind of scam, I hope you learned your lesson because the second and third is pretty pathetic for you.
4008  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some gamblers have been arrestes in Bangladesh for money laundering through bitc on: July 28, 2020, 06:38:50 AM
Honestly you don't have to worry about selling Bitcoin to your local market there's nothing wrong on selling Bitcoin directly since most of the governments doesn't have such law yet and besides Bitcoin might not be that anonymous but the chance of tracing the coins would be really to difficult.

Just make sure that the transactions you were conducting is fully legal and just a selling bitcoin and not selling illegal stuff or something.
The problem is that most local market is not fully established, I do not think that we should be worried that we are part of a laundering group if you are just a customer. The problem with these laundering group is that most of them will still be there because bitcoin will never compromise just for that, there are a lot of solutions that can be used to address this problem and one of them in my opinion is invidual vigilance which I find most effective because there will be people that will be commiting money laundering and all kinds of fraud but I do not think they will operate for long if there are people willing to report them to authorities, let's admit it that not every fraudster can be apprehended if we were to only depend on the authorities, they too have limits and they are also human but if we can atleast help them pinpoint the problem by tipping anonynously then we can atleast make crime reduction much more efficient.
4009  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase CEO Says Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency Must Evolve to Reach Mass Adoption on: July 28, 2020, 05:40:14 AM
Mass adoption? No. How about more people come and buy bitcoin.
That will not work, in my opinion the mass adoption can't happen because there is a problem with bitcoin generation, no matter how many farms or machines work to solve the blocks, the time to generate one block is still the same which is inefficient in the long run. The problem arises from that ineffieciency, let's say that there is a mass adoption and everyone in the world buys bitcoin, do you think the current supply is enough to accomodate this demand? I do not think so. The way to revolutionize bitcoin and its generation speed is by developing more quantum computer and a commercial one in that case because right now we are slowly reaching the plateau for computing speed which means that no matter how much we keep on upgrading our current computer, the plateau will never be broken.
4010  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Officially visit websites & download apps, not fake ones. on: July 28, 2020, 04:58:59 AM
What OP say is not always work. For example there is a topic "Opps, Google did it again" - where first google link lead to fake ledger app, that asked for secret phrase. Of course google fixed it, but there are people who downloaded it and got tricked.

Official websites are not a panacea against scam. Check everything two or even three times before you type your personal info in it.
This is true, you can fake an official website and make it at the top of the search engine via search engine optimization, many scammers are paying for these so that they can be the top search but this is not that unstoppable, there are red flags for people if you do not know if that is the real website, one good example is using an extended domain name like adding a country prefix (com.au, net.ru, com.us), you can also check if the site is secure by checking the lock icon next to the website, this one is tricky because they can buy it to make it look legit, the fake websites can only fake their apperance but the website name will never be faked, each name is unique so you better pay attention to that because that is the biggest nope flag that can help you avoid this malicious sites.
4011  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: This forum consisting of learned and disciplined members on: July 28, 2020, 04:09:58 AM
I would like to disagree with the thing where low rank members are ranking up, I have been posting for awhile and 10 merits is the only thing that I have accumulated, it may sound like I am whining but no, there are other quality posters out there buried in the second page of any quality thread and people do not care about it, most of the people that is getting a merit is either they know from the forum for a long time or either they have a convenient answer to a thread, the only merited thread that I respect is those that work on busting scams and forum abusers.
4012  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A trap of how newbies get scammed on: July 28, 2020, 03:10:50 AM
I don't know if it completely the scammer's fault but the user themselves. Believing in something this ridiculous could either lose every bitcoin that you have or land in jail if the law enforcement in the users country is not allowing that. For example, the Ponzi schemes that appear everywhere, taking everybody's money foolish enough to have downlines, etc. I think the best approach to this is education towards people not to invest in this type of scheme.
I did a thread about the victim's accountability and I completely agree with what you are saying, maybe the first time is a slap on the wrist for victim but the second time or worse the third time, you have to be asking whether they really deserve some help or they are just all too gullible and greedy. Educating people is a taxing work to do, imagine yourself preaching different types of scams and what are the red flags and how to prevent from falling for it, and all you get is few listeners and yes you might get some audience but most will forget the lessons next day, it is very heartbreaking that some people just brush off this kind of stuff. In my opinion, the best thing that you can do as an individual is just to say no when the offer is too good to be true, most people fail at these because they either are too anxious to refuse someone or they are too kind.
4013  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ponzi Schemes for dummies on: July 27, 2020, 08:28:34 AM
Ponzi scheme promises high profits in return, promises users to get rich quickly while there are series of investors that got rich within a pave of years. Ponzi schemes can never end unless dummies kills the habit of getting rich quick from their DNA and start undergoing gradual process of reaching their respective goals.
What the hell does that even mean? Habit of getting rich quick? That is non-existent in my opinion.

Let's consider another side of the coin here shall we? First is the fact that people are blinded not by the scheme itself but by the people who are trying to recruit them into the scam, we can blame the victims but the if we teach them ways to identify these red flags about people that are trying to recruit them then I think that it will get us to a good start, try to find the other problems that could help solve the biggest problem. Another problem is that these schemes are legal in the eyes of the law because they are registered businesses, one indicator mentioned by the OP is the constant return of profits despite market problems.
4014  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ignorance the cause of scam and hack. on: July 27, 2020, 07:01:19 AM
in most cases it is not so much ignorance but greed and desperation combined with gullibility.
for example the case with all ICOs and their derivations like STO, IEO,..., the altcoin pumps, the Ponzi schemes and more are because the gullible newcomers want to make money but cannot do it because they don't understand how the market works and how useless these things are. so it is easy for them to fall for the false promises and pretty designs and big fake numbers.
We also should consider that the scammers are smooth operators, now what I mean by that is that most of them will sweet talk you to go ahead and try their scams, this kind of people are very good with their words and they play with emotions rather beautifully, this also is another thing that you should consider, if the guarantor is sugarcoating their words then that is a red flag, the other thing why the way they talk is so effective is because they know what they are doing and they know the mechanisms behind the scam that they are selling which makes them more convincing. There are also a type where they guilt trip you into joining their scam, they try to target your negative emotions like guilt or sometimes manipulate you which is very dangerous and undetectable if if was performed correctly, be careful out there, if they try to play or use your emotion then that is a red flag.
4015  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: SCAM OR NOT? on: July 27, 2020, 06:14:39 AM
I don't know why people keep supporting those platforms with the use of those tags.

  • Can double your funds
  • Legit
  • No scam

Is the 500 above is USD or bitcoin? I think it's USD.
Those are absolutely a scam as the earlier you said you make an investment of 500 and you already have a profit with the 1000 dollars and before sending your funds you just need to pay 1000 again? Is this not too much loss to you lol.

500 investment + 500 profit + 1000 transaction fee?

All of this is lost to you, any side of this does not give a profit to you it's better to avoid and not entertain those people because why you need to sacrifice your 1000 USD for 500 profit? Are you still okay? if you accept this.
Another one has fallen to this kind of scam, it is not clear whether the OP specifies dollars but if it makes you post this thread then that means this is a large amount. Another thing is, why would you trust some trader from instagram, they could be manipulating the pictures of stocks that he won, you can do photo manipulation you know that. The fact that this is your first time is forgivable but the second is something for the books, be careful out there and do not be blinded by greed and quick buck. Bitcoin will be there for you and so is scammers so you better watch out, consider this as a learning experience and I hope that you will not fall for scams again.
4016  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Illegal mass adoption on: July 27, 2020, 05:33:46 AM
It's kinda surprising and amazing how an ordinary person has been able to buy kiosk and Bitcoin ATM machine and have placed it on public places with no one at first hand noticing it happened. Although the intention is clear that it is to create mass promotion and adaption of using Bitcoin, there is a law that he bypass although there are already Bitcoin ATM machines around. Maybe it just looks illegal on how he have executed his intentions since we have a law to follow. But it was still amazing how this man is really wanting to have mass adaptation of using Bitcoin but he just messed up and have done it on an illegal way.

Have you read the news in full?

This person is not entirely ordinary. He organized an underground cryptocurrency exchange with a commission of 25%, and money laundering is associated with this.
In other words, he is a businessman who does not shy away from getting his hands dirty. It is possible that he laundered drug money.
The fact that he operated an illegal cryptocurrency exchange kiosks is a red flag in itself, the fact that he operated at malls without the proper permit and paperworks is an indication that he has a web of connections. The feat he did is not something to be condemned, this is something that can amaze you like the Jordan Belfort story, to be clear this is not something that should be followed but rather serve as a cautionary tale to anyone that mass adoption is a taxing work to do. The money laundering is very likely in my opinion because that is the most presenting oppurtunity when you are doing an illegal cryptocurrency exchange.
4017  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We Are All Satoshi on: July 27, 2020, 04:28:04 AM
Nice artwork buddy, you made it so good, the mask will clearly show the love with bitcoin or cryptocurrency, we are all Satoshi because we are all belive with bitcoin and we need to keep our identity private for our security just like what Satoshi Nakamoto does. Keep doing the good thing buddy, you have great skills in editing and you have great imaginative thinking.
Ditto.

What did you use to create this art work? Pretty slick and simple. Does photoshop or illustrator do the same effects or you are using a different software.
4018  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Future of Bitcoin Technology. on: July 27, 2020, 03:34:32 AM

In your own opinion, what will be the impact of this revolution to ;
1.The governments.
2.To business.
3.To Individuals.
4.To World bodies such as IMF, UN, WTO etc

~
1. This is a great oppurtunity for the government to perform their best because the bitcoin is so powerful that it gives the masses the power which the government does not control, on the flip side, if the government plans something nefarious then they can use bitcoin for corrupt and shady deals that compromises their people which is scary.
2. Businesses will be forced to innovate their business model by integrating cryptocurrency transaction and they are in my opinion the least that will benefit from this because they will see bitcoin as a way of maximizing their profit.
3. Financial independence will be achieved because there are no taxes to pay, the people can choose to be payed through bitcoin and not worry about government cuts, what I worry is that the ability to apply for insurance is very tiresome.
4. This digital currency revolution will not affect them, they can adapt to the changes and they can also be supplemental to global adoption of bitcoin by backing the cryptocurrency with something that has worth like gold (Gold Standard) or USD (Bretton-Woods)
4019  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Remembering the earily days of mining... on: July 26, 2020, 09:10:29 AM
But why he was mining in his room as he already know that it will generate heat in the first place? Well the rest is history now, I do hope that he has save those early mine bitcoins to help him financially on what he supposedly suffered.
My guess is that not everyone has their own spaces to accomodate mining, he could have put an air conditioning system or atleast an efficient cooling system. The man can't be blamed for what happened to him it was an accident. And this was years ago so no need to wallow in the past, reminiscence is a good thing but this should not be a hindrance for us to keep on moving forward, remember that past is there to teach us not torture us. By the way, this is a very strange case in my opinion, getting a heatstroke for operating a small mining system.
4020  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Clicking Links Malware/Keylogger Question on: July 26, 2020, 07:36:23 AM
1. No matter what OS you have hackers has been adaptive as always to environment the want to deceive. Moreover, app submission on AppStore has far more strict compliance and we can judge that IOS apps are more safe compared to Android apps.

2. Just avoid scammy looking websites and as always we can't say that we may not come across on them but before I jumped into a site I always check reviews and the legitimacy of it. Always on your antivirus or even for Windows Defender as long as it's updated.
1. How come TikTok is available in Appstore when it was clearly proven by many that it is a data collecting app, it is not a keylogger per se but the fact that it collects sensitive information on your phone is very alarming because we all know that phones are our private devices so it is a jackpot for sensitive information. I agree with the fact that Appstore is very strict regarding their application submission but there are some that will slip the cracks no matter what.

2. Scammy websites have gone a new heights right now, they are now multi-shelled company, one good example of these scammy websites are tech support scammers where they pretend to be a company wherein that said company is a shell of another shell company, the layers of deceit is never ending, this can cause people to fall for these traps, even if you know what you are doing but you do not have a good rabbit-hole exploration experience, you might still fall. This is some of the many cautionary tale I wish to impart for many because scams are parallel to technology, they are also innovating and they get complicated each time.
