3041  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who remembers this transaction ? on: May 20, 2020, 08:27:57 AM
you don't receive the inputs of a transaction, instead you receive the newly generated output. if the outputs were 131 then yes you would receive 131 transaction outputs, but considering this tx has only 1 the receiver got only 1 new output in their wallet.
I see! So, if I want to have a multiple output in a transaction, I needed to receive bitcoin from different bitcoin addresses as well. And If I have different output in the transaction, I can use those as an input if I have a coin control function in a wallet like Electrum  Shocked

Another question, is the transaction fee directly proportional to the amount of bitcoin you are sending? I just noticed that this tx is transferring a large sum of bitcoin and yet also had a large amount of fee.
3042  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin simulator (Technical Introduction) on: May 20, 2020, 07:50:51 AM
that was quite interesting, thanks for sharing.
i just want to say the mining part is horribly slow! considering the current difficulty of the chain it is using, it should only take a matter of seconds to find at least a couple of blocks. i clicked auto mine and it is still running without being able to find any block.
i wonder if it is intentionally slow to mimic the slow process of mining and prevent the blockchain from growing too big or it is just an implementation oversight.
You can just create a new blockchain wherein you can customize the number of succeeding zeros to make the hashing become more faster. You can also set the parameters of the block reward and the genesis block reward to get the feel of mining.

You found very neat website, wish i found it when i started learning technical side of Bitcoin.

The only things that annoy me is when you create wallet and the website state "Public Key (= your Bitcoin Address)". Public key is used to create bitcoin address (could be legacy, p2sh or bech32), but public key isn't bitcoin address.
Yes, I also noticed. That is why it makes me confuse between the public key and the receiving address  Cheesy. But yeah, this is a very good website to start getting your feet wet in this vast technical side of bitcoin.
3043  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who remembers this transaction ? on: May 20, 2020, 04:14:40 AM
I think those fees was more a tip for miners than the fees required for that transaction, the total of inputs doesn't justify that big amount.

But thanks to your post now i know another interesting data about the first 'bitcoin x product' transaction.
Wait what? Why there are so many "input" in that transaction? Does it mean I received 131 transaction in the same bitcoin address? I just want to clarify this thing.
3044  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Physical Gambling Casino Simulation through GTA V on: May 20, 2020, 03:59:14 AM
the only downside is that you cant play real money with it right ?  if we gamblers suggest it , they could push those idea but gamblers dont want to play the entire game so better if they create a seperate casino platform or app/software only
Bad idea imo. GTA V is owned by too many minors. Although the CD case clearly shows "18", parents buy the game for their kids all the time. If they were able to play & even cash out real money, say hello to a large wave out of the newest generations of kids already being hard gambling addicts once they hit 18 years old.
Agreed, LOL my 3rd grade schooler cousin used to play this games every day up until now and I worry that having an early exposure into this game may affect his well-being until he gets older.

It's probably approximately the same thing as the casino inside Gameloft's mobile game Gangstar Vegas: you can only play with the in-game currency. However, I guess while you can't withdraw the earned in-game currency, you can buy it with real money.
Wow! This is a real profit in a mobile game. AFAIK, my cousin (again) used to play this game since it has a similar vibe and atmosphere of GTA series. My cousin's choice of game is weird LOL Huh

This finding is amazing and doesn't fit only newbies. It fits me as well. I know most of the way BTC works but some in-detail stuff this simulator explains that I've missed is simple to understand and widens your existent knowledge.
Yes! I was also surprised when I encountered this website, it actually shed some light on the vagueness of the bitcoin protocol. And now I understand the basic concept, it should be easy to dive into a more technical side of bitcoin.

I didn't understand the calculation aspect that is related to private keys. How we can find out that Person A is not fake claiming to be Person C I think its a feature that the bank use to beat bitcoin.
It's the Digital Signature.
It actually has the resemblance of how the banking system works. In order for someone to transfer money from point A to point B, the bank will request a handwritten signature that will verify the legitimacy of the sender. It is the same on how bitcoin transaction works but the difference is, instead of the handwritten signature, we are going to produce digital signature as a verification for the sender using the private key and the transaction (recipient address, amount of BTC to be transferred.)

transaction + priv_key = digital_sig => means that you sign the tx using your priv_key without exposing it to the public. Your tx is now ready to be published in the bitcoin network.

digital_sig + pub_key = transaction (substitution)
digital_sig = transaction + priv_key

transaction + priv_key + pub_key = transaction

In order to prove the legitimacy of the sender, the priv_key and pub_key pair should be match.
3046  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A new survey shows that UKs gambling addiction is getting worst day by day. on: May 19, 2020, 02:37:09 PM
If you’re affected by someone’s behavior because of gambling, then better to stay away or help that guy to get himself out of trap because if you don’t help them at least on a simple way they’ll ended up totally broke.
The difficult thing is, most of them don't understand nor appreciate the advices and care given to them, they just don't give an attention to their well-being and financial status in life.

I'm not sure that only giving advice could help. Gambling addiction is in medical way equal to.any other addiction and such person needs professional help.
This is to complement the my first reply. If a family member cannot control the addiction of their love one, it would be better to seek professional help. There are website actually that offer free consultations.
3047  Other / Beginners & Help / Bitcoin simulator (Technical Introduction) on: May 19, 2020, 12:30:47 PM
Hello Everyone!

I just wanted to share this bitcoin simulator that I found earlier when I am studying bitcoin protocol and its technicalities. This simulator could help newbies to get a grasp on how bitcoin works under the hood specifically in making a transaction in the bitcoin network as well as the cryptographic hash that is happening when mining.

There is an interactive tutorial in the website which will guide you on how to make use of the simulator.

They also include video tutorial on how the simulator works.

3048  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Basic security guide (firewall, backups, antivirus..) - not only for beginners on: May 19, 2020, 11:55:07 AM
As for the antivirus and since I am using Windows, I think it is enough to just use Windows Defender instead of any other third party applications that can be found on the internet. It would just make your system far more insecure. Is it not?

In choosing your passwords. I definitely agree that a lengthy and easy to remember password with a combination of different special characters are good but we can also just use an open source password manager like Bitwarden and KeePass.

Hit start  go to control panel  go to system  on the left side: „Remote settings“  tab on the far right „Remote“  Check if „Remotedesktop“ ist o set to not allow any connection. If you need remote connection to your workstation i recommend useing a software like TeamViewer or different remote management software.
Anyways, I applied this tip. Is this somehow related to RAT (Remote Access Trojan) why we are not allowing remote access in our computer? Also, looking forward to the hardware based Firewall.
3049  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcointalk is not doing well in Alexa rank because of the Merit system on: May 18, 2020, 03:36:19 PM
I have been seeing a lot of this phrase lately.
Yes, you will be seeing it a lot especially if someone is talking about merit, and it will be a neverending argument and drama in this forum. I think you just need to be passionate about what you want in this forum.

Choose at least 1 or two on how you can contribute, it maybe scam busting, or maybe you want to focus on a technical side (which I prefer), or be a good forum statistician. It's your call. Just be passionate man!
3050  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcointalk is not doing well in Alexa rank because of the Merit system on: May 18, 2020, 03:08:55 PM
You don't expect a newbie to do a great job in this forum if they are not handled in a better way than just asking if they can't make topics or write posts? they can do all that out of choice. They own their gadgets and do what they wish. The earlier they are appreciated the better. People have different IQ and will need enough time to understand things like blockchain and bitcoin. Don't compare how easy it was for you to others.
Most of them are unappreciated because they do not actually care nor absorb the replies of the members here. They just ask and leave their thread as if nothing happened.

You're right that it takes a lot of time to learn stuff that is new to our ears, but that doesn't mean that you should be in a hurry in making such lengthy post in which you expect to get a lot of merit, it just doesn't work that way. I don't want to lecture you nor make some hateful post about your stand. Just wanna say that be observant and learn your stuff in a natural way Wink

It is the fault because the merit system is adored more than bitcoin in this forum that any new member that visits here must get to see or know about the merits. It encourage some and discourage some in other ways like can I do what it takes?
Try not to focus on getting merits but rather on the knowledge you can get. All you have to do is to read and ask. Most of the answers you will get from this thread will not make any difference.

Hey I am talking to you calmly okay!

Maybe the operator of this casino is being backed up by politicians or police maybe as they can still perform even that the government are locking them down.
good question, that's for sure anywhere, they are the most active, but 'not them, (person).....certain...!
If that's the case, then I think it would be a good idea to report these assholes to a higher officials other than your local government units. We can't just easily risk our health safety only because we want to gamble and enjoy and take advantage of this draconian event. LOL Roll Eyes
3053  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the best proposal message ! on: May 18, 2020, 04:11:48 AM
Is it possible to start this work?
How to I apply for this job?
I don't think you can apply as an assistant of a bounty manager in updating the spreadsheet since it is solely their role and task in managing the campaign. It would be very difficult to update the spreadsheet if you do not personally count the post history of the campaign participants that is based on the rules and your judgement. Otherwise, you should just become a campaign manager instead.

I bet there are people who needs an assistance in managing a campaign but unfortunately most of them are just managing projects of shitcoins/ ICO that does not guarantee something valuable in return as most of them are scams.

What is the best application letter? Can anyone create a proposal letter for me?
Instead of providing an application letter, you can just post your announcement saying that you are able to assist campaign manager in updating their spreadsheet in services section below.
Service Announcements (Altcoins)

You can try your luck.  Wink

Do you have any other bitcoin address aside from native segwit (bech 32)? Can I have your segwit address (P2SH)? I want to send some beer money for your hardwork to this bot since your receiving address does not support my wallet. Huh

I must that I am an avid fan of these telegram bots! Thank you @TryNinja.

By the way, how are you going to maintain this bot? I ask this because as far as I know the telegram bot of @giammangiato will stop anytime soon and I feel guilt because I still didn't send a single penny for his hardwork (my wallet can't support his receiving address)

Also, can I ask a what language did you use for this bot?
