3041  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [450 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: December 28, 2013, 08:40:06 PM
I should have earned .016+ BTC and got nothing for it instead as well.  This is my second day and I've paid out a lot for mining rental equipment so this is a real BLACK mark on this pool, in my eyes.  Angry

*smirk* there are soo many reasons why you might not have received your $10, the most obvious being that you paid for renting mining equipment.

alternatively:
1) pool luck - its not uncommon to go 24hrs without the pool solving a block some days, and other days solving 10 blocks
2) your machines not properly connecting to the pool - whats the reported hashrate?
3) payout is delayed for 120 blocks if i recall (~20hrs) so whatever you earned may be 'pending' still
4) the first bit of time on the pool will have very low rewards until the PPLNS system reaches its peak for your system. (I think this takes 10 blocks?)

because i give a s#!t about ebay auctions that are 6 days from finishing....

fool.

I don't know if its anger or hate that made you post such comment but whatever it is, gotta have self control before you call someone a fool, at least he had in mind of being helpful and contributing to the forum.

Best Regards

his contribution:
1) point at ebay auctions
1a) auctions are more than 6 days from ending
1b) prices will obviously increase when people bid in the last 2 days of the auction
1c) auctions are almost certainly his (2 auctions are by the same ebay user)
2)create a thread

helpful is his middle name. realistic is mine

3044  Economy / Goods / Re: ► ► ► LEALANA PHYSICAL LITECOINS FOR SALE - SILVER & BRASS DENOMINATIONS on: December 28, 2013, 08:13:40 PM
Glad to receive my coins after 4 weeks. The coins are pretty and in their cases.
But I wonder what was the use of the cases because they were dirty :

Click on the pictures to have the full size

the plastic airtites are magnets for static-attracted dust and other stuff. I was sealing up coins the other day and during my inspection of them found one that a tiny spliter of wood was inside it - took forever to brush it out since it kept sticking to the plastic with static the whole time!

Do you know how many paperclips you can buy for $20??

In all seriousness is it really any sort of safety hazard to use the paperclip trick? For all I know (very little) add2psu is just a paperclip in a fancy container.

I would suggest a small (0.5") length of wire rather than a paperclip. same function, but less chance of it touching anything else. And then wrap it in a bit of electrical tape to make sure it stays put. I have 2 PSUs running that way at the moment

And you have no issues with the BIOS picking up the GPUs?

I am running Antminers and a bifury system.

however, i see no reason why bios would notice/care how GPUs are powered. There is a slight delay in BIOS load/detection that surely allows for the time it takes for a GPU to receive power and boot up to a detectable state.

I will repeat to all
Please invest in dell 750 w server psu for 10-15 £, do small modification, and run smooth, as I am doing even with OC Smiley.
any question please pm me.

how do you modify them for easy/safe use? I actually won a pair of 630W ones on a local ebay auction the other day but have not picked them up yet.

3052  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: December 28, 2013, 05:38:53 PM
go for a PSU that is at least 600W and you will be able to get an extra 20GH from your antminers. (equal to mining an extra 0.2-0.3BTC and well worth it)

get a single 12V rail with 550W on it. PSUs with 2 rails are a pain in the ass because you cant run an antminer using just the pci-e cables (usually the 12V2 rail) and need to also use the ATX mobo connection (usually the 12V1 rail)
3053  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Mining Farm Build Draft on: December 28, 2013, 05:30:37 PM
my suggetsions:

1a) The mobo only has 3x PCI16x and 4x 1x slots. Its possible you may not be able to get 7 cards per mobo to work
1b) Build a 7 card rig first to test the waters before you build another rig with 7 more cards. (I assume this is how you planned to use 14 R9 290's?)

2) You dont need a premium processor/ram/HDD for this. 500GB or 64GB SDD would be fine (the sdd is quiet/fast but functionally has little or no advantage to a dedicated mining rig)
3) bitfenix has some great 230mm fans with white blades and LEDs that are quiet and push lots of air while looking nice. (theres a good example in the mining rig thread thats been reposted about 10x in the last few pages using a metal casing a 4 GPUs)
4) If you plan to leave the machine on 24/7 you may just want to use the paperclip trick and turn on the PSUs simultaneously by hand. same effect but you save $20
4b) consider getting 3 slightly smaller PSUs - often it will be cheaper than 2 big ones.

3055  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Block Erupter USB - Overclocking/ hacking ? on: December 28, 2013, 05:10:30 PM
just want to check: if the usb is modded to draw more than 500mA will a hub allow that (assuming you have it connected to sufficient power supply)?

one i'm trying to connect is a 600w xilence psu.  In the setup thread  it's written to buy 450 w psu. I think the make-shift jumper wire out of a power cable maybe the issue or xilence psu takes more than to just cross green and black cable i dont know.

If either of the above are your PSU, please note there are TWO 12V rails. Usually this means 1 rail supports the ATX mobo connectors and Molex wiring, while the other is dedicated to the PCI-e connectors.

If you run both sides of your miner using only PCI-e cables on the one rail, you will be using more power than the allowable amperage (at stock speeds, ~360W or 30A). Even if split up properly, you should make sure each rail is capable of a minumum 18A to allow a little bit of headroom.

It sounds like you are running them on only 1 rail so the system starts fine at low power draw, but once it connects to the stratum server and begins to pull the full amperage required for hashing, your PSU rail is overloaded and it shuts down.

use the 2x4pin ATX connectors for 1 blade and a pci-e cable for the other and you should be fine
3057  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales NEW STOCK ***NOW SHIPPING*** on: December 28, 2013, 03:30:22 PM
even at 3.15 btc, the jan batch of antminers will be hard pressed to make that back, given the diff is doubling MoM.  So they either need to accept fiat or lower the purchase price in BTC otherwise you will be throwing away BTC.  (This is coming from the mindset that you are long term accumulating btc.)

I agree that 3.15 BTC may be hard to get back. The 4.25BTC batch though has already returned around 2.5 BTC per miner though Smiley

and im happy buying hardware as long as it can return at minimum 90% of its cost, since the hardware retains 'ebay value' and is something of a hobby.
3058  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Announces More Vapor Ware! on: December 28, 2013, 03:20:38 PM
This will earn about 0.1 BTC per day IF it ships on Dec 30 and will decline quickly to 0.025 BTC per day as HF and CT ship their backlog and everyone else continues shipping.
I would say they are worth around 2.5BTC or about $2400 IF you get them ON TIME.

exactly say no to these fucktards. Vote with your wallet. Think first and don't buy later.

No. Just hope more people get the message.

prices dropped to $7500 - still a joke.

you can get a 200GH antminer system for 3.15BTC or roughly $2200 (plus PSU cost) that uses about 1/3 the power per GH
3059  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S1 Art on: December 28, 2013, 03:10:00 PM
looks like they were mounted on thier sides. I am considering doing this, but feel that it may cause the chip side of the board to have no airflow and get even hotter compared to standing upright
3060  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales NEW STOCK ***NOW SHIPPING*** on: December 28, 2013, 05:54:42 AM
Don't bother. At the current prices, there's no use buying these.

IMO, full rigs need to drop down to ~$6k to be competitive at this point. Throwing money at Bitmain presently makes more sense.

The present pricing leads me to believe that the Bitfury directors are making way more money mining with their hardware than selling it, and selling to us at a reasonable price would be counter to their present goals of controlling as much hashrate as they can and keeping it out of their customers' hands. Where have we seen this before...

IOW: Tytus got greedy, and is flying the middle-finger in our faces with his outrageous current pricing.

 </conspiracy-theory>

I wrote Tytus complaining about the pricing. He responded that he is not in charge and then wrote a wordy bitcoin economics lessen that I could not follow.  I doubt it made a difference but the next day the h boards dropped from $999 to $675.
All I know is they are still too expensive and sushi has been getting a lot of my money lately.

+1 and +1

Bitfury is really falling behind in my eyes. unless they can keep up they will make no sales. (IMO, an H-board should already be less than 0.7BTC if they want to keep up with the competition)
