3041  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: History is repeating itself or not? on: January 01, 2021, 05:53:02 AM
I do not think so, if you have been looking at news articles about crypto which I am sure you are, companies are starting to consider bitcoin as an investment for their company. The bull is still on parade, hopefully history won't repeat itself because that would be too predictable for hodlers when to sell and when to buy. Happy that there are people returning to the platform.
3042  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: $188 million worth of BTC to unknown address from unknown on: January 01, 2021, 05:20:28 AM
Another whale that just moved a wallet from his other wallet, I guess or the one that you have said that another OTC tx made by an institution. We will never know. This year has started very well @ $29,000. There is still no sign of it going down or we're not going to see $20,000 below prices again. If it does, the chance is little.
This must be a personal transaction between companies that do not want the media fuzz. The only scary thing about this movement is that it might not be a crypto company but a shell one that launders money, even if that is the case I wouldn't care as long as the prices are still up. Good thing that the prices are still skyrocketing and is still setting some new records, I already put a line on when will I sell my funds.
3043  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: No 2FA and robbed of 0.097BTC on: January 01, 2021, 04:42:09 AM
Sorry for your loss that's an expensive mistake. I used to avoid 2fa as well since they're frustrating but once most sites started requiring 2fa it eventually grew on me and encouraged me to activate 2fa on all my accounts.
Indeed an expensive, these stories are some of the reason why I stopped gambling online, physical locations are much better and are livelier. Regarding 2FA, this was ingrained to me because I am paranoid about my security online. But 2FA is not the best security measure out there, someone can impersonate you to reset your 2FA or at least disable it. The best defense against those is to shut your trap when about your dealings online, remember the old adage in military, "Loose lips sinks ships".
3044  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin 2021 resolution on: January 01, 2021, 04:04:30 AM
Truth be told OP, resolutions do not last that long. If you really wanted to change, New Year is not a special time, it could have happened at May 20, 2020. My point is that change does not need to have a schedule, it is gradual and the only way that your resolutions can happen is when you put the effort to do it, do it instead of announcing that you will do it.
3045  Other / Meta / Re: Dark Theme for Bitcointalk | Nord 🖤 on: December 31, 2020, 08:53:55 AM
Is the theme usable now? I really love dark mode when it comes to websites. Hopefully, you will drop the instructions on this thread because I am wary of links although I know it is github link, I still have to take measure.

3046  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The "rat poison" is worth more than Buffett's company on: December 31, 2020, 08:19:09 AM
Yeah,I guess that we will continue with the "Bitcoin is bigger than 'insert random company name' stocks prices" type of forum posts. Grin Which company will the the next one?Google,Amazon or Microsoft? Grin
I couldn't care less about Buffet's opinions in regards to Bitcoin. He clearly said that he doesn't understand how Bitcoin works and he doesn't invest in businesses and financial assets, which ha can't understand.
"Rat poison" is actually a great thing, because it kills rats.Bitcoin is the rat poison, that will eventually kill the "fiat money rats". Grin
If that is the reason that he does not invest then I think that it is a reasonable thing to say, do not invest on what you don't know. He could learn about bitcoin though if that is the only reason. I think rats is not the appropriate word for capitalists, maybe pigs or leeches. If companies continues to invest in bitcoin then the day will come that bitcoin will be larger than any company, but I do not think that it will be that easy because there will be innovations that will revolutionize our current technology that might surpass bitcoin's worth.
3047  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Small Business that accept bitcoin or cyptocurrency here in PH, worth it ba? on: December 31, 2020, 07:25:14 AM
Magandang makita na ibang mga establishments and small businesses dito sa Pilipinas ay ina adopt na talaga ang Bitcoin and cryptocurrency. But do you think is it really worth it na gamitin talaga as daily use ng Pilipino?
I think worth it naman na iadopt considering ang taas ng value ng bitcoin sa Pilipinas, in a business perspective.
Like oo alam natin na ang purpose ng bitcoin itself is a peer to peer transaction of payment in virtual world. But to the fact na volatile ang bitcoin and other altcoins at nd talaga sya stable to use for daily purposes. Siguro sa opinyon ko si Bitcoin talaga ay for Investment lng talaga just like stocks and package nlng talaga yong virtual transaction or gamiting as payment. Mas mainam pa rin na gamitin like gcash, paypal or credit card for online transaction.
Hindi rin siguro, kasi kung kapareho ito ng stocks edi dapat may return habang nakahold ka like dividends. Sinabi mo na nga na P2P payment yung bitcoin tapos pang investment lang, edi parang contradiction yung statement mo. Walang masama kung gusto ng tao payment ang bitcoin, which means no tax to follow up.
3048  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] FLAMING FARM!! Avoid These Scams on: December 31, 2020, 06:42:01 AM
Before I open this thread, I thought you're a bounty hunters before Cheesy but I'm wrong LOL you're the campaign manager from that bounties.

You have stated this statement in your thread
*   The coins will be distributed at the end of the bounty program.

Even you not got any payment from the developer, but you need to be professional as a campaign manager to pay the bounty hunters as your promise (with your own money), it's the risk to become a campaign manager on bounties section.
I feel for this guy because he/she is the campaign manager. I know that OP needs to answer for those under him/her but it doesn't seem to be unfair because you never expected that you will be duped too. I do sympathize with OP but to be fair to the hunters, you need to answer for it, you might never know maybe they will honor your commitment and your reputation gets better.
3049  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] ideltaprotocol - AI generated images on: December 31, 2020, 06:09:23 AM
You have caught them in 2019, how come they are still active. Anyway good catch. I am also fascinated with this AI generated images but for a different purpose. I am curious if you know what AI Image generator are they using because I only know one and that one is not perfect because it gives away details to a trained eye that it is generated.

3050  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is cold storage better than coinbase? on: December 31, 2020, 05:15:26 AM
Cold storage is not prone to attacks online, the only risk of security for cold wallets is that it is physically stolen from you. Unlike Coinbase which locks some users accounts, you can access your funds anytime. You have to watchful because cold wallet are far more inconvenient when you are trading.
3051  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who else is putting their Stimulus into Bitcoin? on: December 31, 2020, 04:33:44 AM

"Not that profitable" is way much better than consistently depreciating. That's Bitcoin versus fiat.

Here comes Bitcoin. We're safer with this one. It is volatile, yes. Its price could crash anytime, yes, but it is still generally going up. So even if you are not after the profit, you may still safely park your savings in Bitcoin. Gaining a little is better than losing. Gaining sometimes is better than losing all the time.
I respect that, but shouldn't this be an opportunity for small amounts to become bigger. If you want to safely park then you might as well just put that money in blue chip stocks because there, there are dividends as long as you are an investor.
3052  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who else is putting their Stimulus into Bitcoin? on: December 31, 2020, 03:52:03 AM
~

Better to dollar cost average then don't buy at all, look at the price of Bitcoin completely getting parabolic. Sure it may come down and have a flash crash. But if you look at the wider picture. Institutional and big companies are coming in. Grayscale invested billions of dollars, billionaire's putting 1% of their portfolio into BTC. Many other people felt they've missed the boat and looking for the opportunity to buy in. Shorting BTC now would be disastrous when price starts to take off.
I do see the bigger picture, but I do not think that we should rely too much on this institutional investors, yes they are pouring in but bitcoin is still inherently volatile so anytime the crash can happen. Also my point is that investing at this time with such a small amount is not that profitable, yes you could get the money back threefold but the highest return is what they should be aiming, it will be good for institutional investors because that threefold could drastically increase their profit. Meaning that if you have a small amount of money, you should strive for more than threefold which bitcoin could do.
3053  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are people buying BTC @ $27000+ idiots? on: December 31, 2020, 03:10:05 AM
Based on my experience, it's not really wise to buy during the peak, bad idea, unless you are a long term holder who are willing to hold longer and will not panic when the price dump. We are again at the time where some people get FOMO and we can't stop them since they believe the uptrend will continue and we also don't know if it will stop, so let them do their thing and learn if they make mistakes.

I'll just wait for the dip and then start buying.
That is what my veteran friends do and advice to me when I was a fledgling in bitcoin. Buying at low and selling at high, I see that it is reasonable and I like the idea because I am a lazy person so trading isn't really my strong suit. FOMO is the biggest mistake that any newbie can make when it comes to investing in bitcoin, I get that we do not know when will the run stop but I believe that reducing your risks to almost zero is the best way to go, I agree about not letting them stop, it is their money after all.
3054  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who else is putting their Stimulus into Bitcoin? on: December 31, 2020, 02:28:09 AM
At this time of year is not a good timing to buy a bitcoin because the prices are running high. I understand that the 600$ is not a lot but I do not see the profit because this run will not be going on forever. I hope that you can get your profit even at this ATH in the bitcoin prices. On the other hand, that amount could have helped you subsidize your expenses in goods for daily needs.
3055  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Browser Extension that Gives Bitcoin on: December 30, 2020, 09:48:46 AM
Quote
Lolli partners with top stores that pay us when you shop. Once you make a purchase, merchants pay us and then we pay you, sending you free bitcoin or cash to your Lolli wallet.
it's more of a cashback rewards system, there are a lot of it in the internet you don't have to install an extension, you just need codes for it you can Google for reputable cashback rewards sites.
If you want to put it that way, that is okay. That is still a money saved from buying online although I am not a fan of online shopping because most items are overpriced compared to physical store counterparts. I am curious about this one that you are talking about, the one where you put codes, and other same websites. Hopefully, you will respond because I am genuinely curious.
3056  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best Way to Carry Your Seed When Traveling Or Moving Abroad? on: December 30, 2020, 09:07:44 AM
You can just write it in the book or note book, no one will notice it
Exactly, a piece of paper will get easily lost. Try having a journal or a ledger to write your seed phrase. I have mine on a Moleskine and it feels safer there because even if the custom looks at it, they will never bat an eye. If you really want to up your game with hiding it, you can use layers of ciphers to mask your real seed phrase.
3057  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PayPals Bitcoin is a scam on: December 30, 2020, 08:31:36 AM
I have been using Paypal for a long time, so I really believe Paypal will not do anything that could damage its reputation. We cannot
blame Paypal for not allowing its users to withdraw Bitcoin. They do this must have their own reasons, we give time to Paypal to perform
services that they think are right. I believe all the rules they make regarding Bitcoin are temporary, do not rush to require Paypal to provide
the services that many people want.

Because I believe they are more experienced in the digital payment world, so Paypal knows what is best for their platform. At least there has
been great progress Paypal has finally accepted cryptocurrency, if there are still shortcomings, because this is still in the early process of adoption.
The only reason that I can think of is that they are doing this to prevent money laundering in their platform, which is reasonable but to hold your customers account just because they have bitcoin in there is definitely something. I like the service of Paypal because they are the most reliable International payment system in my country but I think that they are still a youngling when it comes to integrating it in their payment system. Or a far more sinister which I hope is not really the case which is they are trying to find a way to screw over the people.
3058  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NFL have their first player played in bitcoin on: December 30, 2020, 07:53:39 AM
Good for him, there are only a few personalities that are willing to wager some of their money into bitcoin. I really like his idea that half of the salary will be payed in bitcoin, hopefully this serves as a motivation for companies to integrate or at least consider integrating bitcoin or cryptocurrency in their employee's salary. 20BTC is a lot of money for a month, in his case, he might become a whale in a years time.
3059  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Had you sold your Bitcoins ? on: December 30, 2020, 07:21:02 AM
Well, yes. I sold my bitcoins. But unlike you, I didn't sell all of them but just a part of it whenever I feel it's right or whenever I deem it necessary. I did that primarily because it's holiday season and I want to give presents to others from my earnings in bitcoin.

After selling for such, I'm back to continuously holding and earning btc regardless of what price it may be. We all have varying reasons when it comes to our bitcoin and I totally respect you for yours.
I did the same as you although a lot went from being sold although the purchases are worth it. I do not regret selling it, after all, I had to stick to the line that I had drawn on where and when to sell my coins. I would buy a lot when the bull run ends just like OP. Holidays are the weakness of the many, good thing that I am not that materialistic when it comes to spending when it is holiday, most of my expenses are items that will grow in value when sold and such.
3060  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: eth 2.0 is this the end of bitcoin? on: December 30, 2020, 06:45:15 AM
I always thinking high for the Ethereum before that it might surpassed the Bitcoin but after the latest bearish and after this current Bitcoin performance I don't think that any Altcoins can beat the Bitcoin anymore for the number 1 spot. There are lot of new platform that emerge in the market because they don't want to use the erc20 platform anymore so I suggest to stop thinking about dethroning the Bitcoin because $26,000 ATH is very impossible to any Altcoin to beat.
Everyone has their time to shine. Many also said that bitcoin will not reach this X number because it is impossible, look at what happened, they did not expect the "bubble" to grow bigger again even though there is no popping. Maybe it will not reach that same height but it will be reaching higher than expected.
