Bitmain has never sold their s9 chips. Period. That ^^ reseller is either selling stolen chips, ones salvaged from improperly disposed scrap, or relabled dummy chips. No matter what it is a highly ILLEGAL operation. DO NOT SUPPORT ANY GRAY-MARKET ACTIVITIES LIKE THAT.

Canaan is no longer having chips made for the A721/A741's and issued an EOL (End Of Life) statement for them here last Dec. Maybe a couple of the miners are hiding in a corner somewhere but is doubtful.

Seems like demo day came and went as expected.
Yep. As in ZERO information resulting from it. And Halong just keeps the waving the SCAM flags harder and harder....

Wow only one?!? I guess that must have been me! ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Only one BTC payment? Um check yer sales, This month I've gotten 2x Bitmain APW PSU's, 2x of the Feb 7 A821's, and 1 of your controllers for them. All different orders and all paid in BTC.

Fist and foremost be aware that Bitmain does not use nor support ANY resellers. Even if a reseller is legit you have NO factory warranty protection. Warranty issues are strictly between you and the reseller.
That said I would trust only Myrig.com and Blokforge.com as a US based reseller. Myrig also repairs s9 miners so not too concerned about warranty there. Not sure how Blokforge handles Bitmain products but as an authorized distributor for Canaan's Avalons I *would* trust them at least as far as sales go.
Personally, I say screw Bitmain and get Avalons. They don't break anywhere near as much as the s9's do.

Dying to pick up a couple of 821s to feed into kanopool, but really want to do my buying through minerwarez.com They are being very quiet about the new units and it has me wondering? Other distributors (blokforge etc) are taking pre-orders but minerwarez hasn't even made an announcement. Is this their typical SOP with new products or should I be jumping horses and going with a new provider and putting up with wire transfers and overseas shipping? My gut tells me to be patient but I have limited experience all around, and with them in particular, to go on. My one single order with them went perfect by the way.
Just curious...
So perhaps ask in the Minerwarez thread?

Is the 821 firmware available for the controllers yet? I got a blokforge 741 controller but now getting an Avalon 821 miner instead so mineaswell get ready
Firmware has NOTHING to do with the controllers. Firmware resides only inside the miners themselves. The 721/741/821 all run the same controller SOFTWARE which is based on OpenWRT & LUCI.
|
|
|
Anyone know if the 741 controller will work with the 821? Also would a 1500w power supply be sufficient on 110v?
For the umptheenth time here in the Forum, yes the the same controller can be used with the 721/741/821 all at the same time. Just don't update the Firmware with them like that because Firmware updates are applied to all miners on a controller and the Firmware is miner-specific. As long as the PSU will put out 1,500w when fed 110v sure. Check the ratings on its label...

or the crypto miners of today are just that dumb. Given how so many apparently think that all coins are 'Bitcoin' and refuse to post altcoin queries in the right areas I say, 'Bingo!' IMHO Twitter and its instant gratification in 250 characters or less ilk are just as bad of a Social Disease as Syphilis and seems to be affecting folks's brains just as badly.

^^ and since at least in the USA the exchanges WILL report your coin to fiat exchange into your bank account, if you have moved say more than a few k$ it is much safer to just report on your taxes.

"someone else" ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) Only the manufacturer can apply to have their equipment certified/recognized by the various product safety organizations.

I on the other hand was amazed to see they still have stock. Wonder how many pallets they got in? Anywho got 2x of the 821's to add to my farm and very glad to have them coming as 2 of the s9's in the farm are starting to act up... With BTC up a bit from where it was, werks fer me! ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sherv.net%2Fcm%2Femo%2Fhappy%2Fhappy-dance-smiley-emoticon.gif&t=664&c=Ip98KgrwlVFZ3A) I always love your posts. I couldn't believe how long the 741's sat there. I pointed an Internet friend towards them and he scooped up the 2 they had. Congrats on your 821's I'm looking forward to hearing from people who bought them. Watching the last 2 links posted for forum users, it shows the difference between early, or earlier adopters and people like myself, who started in the last 9 months or so. I also think the recent drop in all coins really, helped keep those on the shelf for you guys. Can't wait for the march batch. Ya there certainly is an odd - fiscal disconnect - between them. The only fiat I have spent was a total of around $8k in early 2014 to get my initial gear. After that most BTC income was plowed back into expansion/upgrade to the current >255THs. The bigger the farm the faster you recoup the BTC spent for growing. In my case the farm will pay for the 2 new miners in a bit over 3 weeks and then back to pure profits... Point is, as yer BTC stockpile and farm grows it is easy to forget the actual $ value of miners. I just take it out of the earnings pile. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sherv.net%2Fcm%2Femoticons%2Fmoney%2Fcoin-shower-smiley-emoticon.gif&t=664&c=ObIVcpR9ZPg6uQ)

It is still unclear to me: Can I use a wallet that starts with a 3? It was generated by Electrum.
This is a multisig address, correct? I can't see why you couldn't mine to it, but it seems a bit of extra effort for a pool payout. I don't run Eligius, so don't take this as a definitive answer. I never tried to mine to a multisig address ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) I am not sure if it is a multisig wallet.. I am not entirely sure what that means haha. But from what i've googled, I don't think it is a multi signature wallet... As the name implies a multisig wallet requires 2 or more people to login and access it to approve transactions. Geared for Businesses when you do not want to allow just 1 person to have access to all of the money.

This pool has the best community.
I have one of Sidehack's hacked S7s (which used to be in Fuzzy's mine) running in my office again - at least another 3th/s to the pool! ...
I'm very pleased I was able to find those s7's new homes and help Sidehack with a Good cause by donating them to him for mod/resale ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Out of originally a couple dozen that were in the farm I have just 1 left and yes I UV/UC'd it for the better eff/lower noise. Works fine in our inspection room at work ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

For one Blockchain info supports it. Just make a sub-couple wallets - with Blockchain.info all are part of the master wallet - and point mining income into one. In my case the wallet/address I labeled 'mining income' and every couple weeks I transfer all from it into a couple other holding/spending wallets. Ja still entails a fee to combine them into the other wallet but just do it when fees are lower(er).

As Sidehack said - ALL of the miner makers use their own custom-designed-by-them chips. Because only TSMC, Samsung, and GloFo are capable of actually making the chips using the designs supplied by their customers, in this case Bitmain, Bitfury, Canaan, et al, yes the manufacture of wafers holding the dies that go into a chip package is contracted out to them same as those made for Apple, AMD, Cisco, et al.
Mining ASIC's are by no means generic and are all highly proprietary.
