3061  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] MMOCoin - a game Within the Block Chain - NMC Fork on: July 25, 2013, 11:56:45 PM
Neat idea, I'd be happy to have you in the Alt Currencies section should you decide its worth doing.

edit* The biggest issue people have with new coins is the lack of innovation. Its just lazy if people copy others. Your idea on the otherhand is a new idea, and I'd say a cool one if you had the dev team / knowhow to do it.
3062  Other / Off-topic / Re: quit sending pizzas to me on: July 25, 2013, 04:32:12 AM
Yes I meant them being paid for. They can send anything they want from amazon and pizzas that are paid for. That's fine and can use them.

When people said, pay back or we will send you pizzas, they did not mean, they would give you free pizzas, they meant they would order things and then force you to pay for things you did not want. Esentially they were saying, pay the guy back, or we will annoy you until you do.
3063  Other / Off-topic / Re: quit sending pizzas to me on: July 25, 2013, 04:27:09 AM
Just going to leave this here from the other thread.

Note to Joseph Rondini: You have until the 1st of July to return the scammed funds. We have your dox.
Releasing his information to the public could be helpful. Joey, you have until July 1st to repay your debt or prove to me that you're making an effort to repay it. If you can't meet these requirements, any information about you is free to be published in this thread. Any users you have scammed can then make their own attempts to reclaim what you have stolen from them.

If Joey doesn't log in today, I can send him an email to make sure he knows the terms.

If only the first of July could come sooner. Will be sending infinite pizzas, things from Amazon, phone calls, and other things to his house.
Go ahead and send me pizzas and things from amazon. We could use them. And you will never get my phone number.

With boatedaces being an alt of Joey that he accidentally posted as in reply to the comment about sending him pizzas.
3064  Other / Meta / Re: Is doxxing private personas acceptable on these forums ? on: July 24, 2013, 06:09:21 PM
I actually asked a question like this and got a pretty definate response from Theymos a while back. The consensus was that Doxing is allowed, because any information found via doxxing is fairly public info anyway that anyone could find with a basic search engine skills. It just means that someone took the time to compile the information together to get a profile of the person.
3065  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-07-19 BBC: Living off Digital currency for a week. on: July 19, 2013, 08:13:35 PM
Lol, I've spent the last 2 years living solely on Cryptos. Although, my expenses aren't very high. I want an article   Tongue

So you spent the last 2 years:
  • Not paying taxes? Don't worry, this is only a felony.
  • Without filling up the tank? No problem. Live in Manhattan.
  • Eating only Foodler (junk food)? Must be American, I guess.
  • With no visits to the hospital? Some just never get sick.
  • Neglecting rent/property tax? Or, you know, live on the streets.

I find your statement incredibly hard to believe, unless you live in a slum in Somalia.

I have not had to pay taxes. I've had an internship, but no actual income to report.
Nope, no gas bills
College diet
I've got medical insurance which covers me until I'm 25
Scholarships pay my room and board/tution

read her profiles, she's a 12 yr old female. of course she can live off cryptos for 2 years

Lol I actually changed my profile to that a few months ago, just to see when someone would bring it up, you are the first.

3067  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CRC] Craftcoin - Portable Minecraft Game Currency w. Economy Plugin on: July 19, 2013, 03:47:17 PM
Do I have to buy minecraft in order to play on the craftcoin minecraft server? Would like to try it out but only seem to be able to connect to the minecraft demo server.

You do, if you decide its worth it,  I've seen people selling Minecraft accounts for just a few dollars on the forums/bitmit.
3068  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Miner's Official Coin LAUNCH - NUGGETS (NUGs) on: July 18, 2013, 07:44:12 PM
Is it really that hard to just delete this entire pointless thread? Pretty ridiculous it even got to this point without any mod intervention

Yes, yes it is, if I made a habit of just deleting threads like this, I'd be fired. Because it is the OP's thread, and he doesn't seem to have much problem with it (waiting for clarification) I don't have the right to delete it or any comments he chooses are fit to stay. I will however edit out excessive threats and other things that are excessively useless. If he wanted to make a thread called Land Whale spotted on Mars and the comments to be compiled completely of people's names with the letter Z, as the creator the thread, it is his choice. I however can and will edit/delete anything that is excessively unnecessary in nature that could be damaging to those that respond or view the thread. Threats, Obscene images, very excessive use of offensive language or unwanted personal attacks, etc.
3069  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Miner's Official Coin LAUNCH - NUGGETS (NUGs) on: July 18, 2013, 06:39:35 PM
Watching this thread and waiting for a response from the OP before I start purging posts that are way out of line, and there are a few of them. If you are responsible for one of the 50 posts that have been reported here, I'd suggest cleaning it up yourself. If not, I will be. So you are aware that your post has been edited/deleted, I'll be sure you send those that are effected a pm letting you know.
3070  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAMMER: TradeFortress! Blackmailed me with dox to install Teamviewer on: July 18, 2013, 03:02:50 AM
I don't think this is a scammer case, he didn't trick you in any way that damaged you financially.

*I'm not a mod in this section, the title just caught my attention*
3071  Other / Meta / Re: Temporary Ban for Press Guideline Violators on: July 17, 2013, 03:52:58 PM
Probably would have worked out better had you posted this in the staff section, rather than public, so you could have gotten an answer without the ridicule.

Your task is like herding cats, you will never succeed, but hopefully you can at least help and sucessfully get a few cats following.
3072  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin overheating 95C - 100C? bad for ATI? on: July 15, 2013, 02:05:55 PM
LITECOIN is a GPU killer
my gpus are overheating in shipping container, 95C on average, alas we have a hot summer in London UK Sad outside 30C
will my gpus last?
they are 6970s and 7950s
what is your experience with temperatures?
I am not sure if it was hot temp that killed one of my 6970 HIS or was it intensity 18.
what do you recon?

Back in the early days of BTC mining, a friend and I had a 6870 that I found at a yardsale for like $20. I had it mining for pretty much two years straight. At 100- 105C. It was cheap so I didn't care, and took over 2 years to die and I dont know how much use was on it before I bought it. But, I still don't reccomend doing that, had the card not been cheap to the point of not caring, I would have been worried about it dying.

I'd try and run your GPU's cooler, 76C is acknowledged as target temp.
3073  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HOW DO YOU MINE PRIMECOIN? on: July 14, 2013, 06:23:16 AM
Windows directions:

Install

Open Prime

Help

Debug Windows

Type "setgenerate true"

Yep, no conf needed, you can also specify how many threads by instead typing "setgenerate true 8"
where 8 would be 8 threads, it could also be 2, 4, 6, 16 or whatever you want to make it.
3074  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Bounty] Primecoin Standalone CPU Miner! Current: 2.5BTC on: July 13, 2013, 05:54:13 PM
Would a mod be interested (Salty? Smiley) in doing escrow for this bounty pool?

Maybe I should make a thread with a bounty for a CUDA miner as well? Smiley

If people want me to I will, I'm a fan of Primecoins, and would like to see further development.
3075  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XPM] Primecoin v0.1.1 Release - Windows Build Ready on: July 13, 2013, 12:13:40 AM
neat, my primes/sec went from 2-7 to 1787.
3076  Other / Off-topic / Re: best movie you have ever seen in your life on: July 12, 2013, 02:33:28 PM
Cannibal Hollocaust: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannibal_Holocaust

Found it on a list of the best horror movies, so decided with a name like that, it couldn't be bad. After watching it with some friends, they wouldn't talk to me for a while. Its so good it was banned in a bunch of countries, and the director was charged with making a snuff film because some of the death scenes were beyond the scope of 1980s special effects.

But really, if you are into slasher movies like SAW, this movie goes way beyond that, I wouldn't reccomend it for the faint of heart, or those with a weak constitution. I wouldn't say it is the best movie I've ever seen, but it was the most impressionable.

More in depth on the director's snuff accusation:

He was found not guilty, but not before being arrested and serving a bit of prison time. What happened was, they wanted to get media attention, so what they did was after the movie was shot, he told some of the actors to go into hiding, so when they weren't seen or heard from again, people started speculating he had actually killed them. After being arrested and forced to prove that he could recreate the scenes in question, he had the actors come out of hiding, and was let off, but was still convicted for obscenity charges.
3077  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [WHO ARE?] | The Top 10 Greatest Coin Developers of All Time! on: July 12, 2013, 02:24:46 PM
If we are just talking coin creators, and not people who have created additional essentials (like Artforz)

I would say Satoshi, Coblee, and Sunny King.

Satoshi invented the original, its obvious why he gets in, Coblee invented the first sucessful scrypt coin, and Sunny King does have a lot of neat innovative projects.
3078  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CRC] Craftcoin - Portable Minecraft Game Currency w. Economy Plugin on: July 12, 2013, 02:18:13 PM
Luckily most coins are alike so given a working module to plug a cryptocurrency into minecraft and/or minecraft clones pretty much any cryptocurrency should be able to work with it with trivially simple changes (port number, maybe, maybe not even that; and cosmetics such as what name/symbol to display).

So really the coin itself isn't the important/interesting thing here anyway, the module is; people could go ahead and use it with real bitcoins instead of mucking around with some obscure newfangled coin, or maybe litecoin or devcoin or whatever if bitcoins are considered "too valuable" for use in games...

-MarkM-

Well, Blindfolded did have a Minecraft server set up with an integrated payment system denominated in LTC. Problem with that was it was right before LTC became valuable. I deposited >1,000 LTC onto the minecraft server, just to find out they would hit a few dollars each in a week or two. After that the server became inactive, because no one wanted to use a coin that was worth that much for game transactions.

3080  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Does anyone send Cash in the mail for Bitcoins... on: July 11, 2013, 09:11:03 PM
People have done it, sometimes it works, but not always a great idea. I would advise moving your thread to this section.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=53.0

I believe I've seen a few people buying/selling via mail order in the currency exchange section.

Ok, if I know how to move it lol ... also when you say "sometimes it works , but not always a great idea"  explain?

Thanks!

I've seen deals go through like this, and both parties turned out happy, I've seen cases where someone would never send the BTC after recieving the cash, and I've seen people who claimed to have sent cash, and that either the seller is a scammer or the postal service lost the package, in an attempt to pressure the seller into giving them some sort of compensation so they can keep their credibility. There also is the possiblity that the postal service actually does lose the cash, or an employee steals it, so if you are going to start doing this, I'd write up some very strict TOS, like how money must be sent, whether or not it has to be insured, what class mail (standard, registered, etc) and such.

I wish you luck, because it is a needed service, just make sure you protect yourself *tosses legal condom*
