But even assuming they do add a delay, it will be the end of jan when ASIC will hit?

I am not able to guarantee it, but our ASICs are planned to be ready before the end of January. I still don't have an estimate on how much time will be needed for deployment, but I don't expect it to be much different than what it took to put FPGAs online. So the end of January is a reasonable date.

For everyone: in the case we arrive at 31st of January and ASICs will not be already running because we're still working on them, please do not flame (like when we were waiting for the July FPGA deployment which took about a week more than planned)... I am really doing everything I can to speed up and optimize things as much as possible. The sooner they will be in production, the better is for both me and you all. This should be a warranty on the commitment I am dedicating to this activity.

To add to this point. Please consider that there is no single supplier that hasn't add delays yet. Considering that BFL has already delayed their deployment 3 month (and is expected to delay further) a view weeks delay will still be awesome.

Like I wrote before. I have a rough picture about how much work that is and I was expecting delays from the beginning. So no flaming from me.

What I especially like is that they don't state Bitcoin enable Iranians to pass by the embargo, but
Quote
Jung Iranians are going for Bitcoin. To get money out of the country - or to buy Dollar or Euro. Everything anonymous, the regime has no chance to control.

Really positive.

Naively positive, though. A little research would've revealed that we're talking about something like maybe 20-30 dudes in Iran using bitcoin. Of course, every journey starts with a single step.

Right, from the writing you could get the impression there is some kind of bitcoin gold rush going on in Iran.

Do you mean these?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFWPOxSfxgc&feature=plcp

I mean he tries, but you can really see that he is awfully nervous and doesn't feel comfortable in this environment. Just look at his body language in the second video and compare it to the guy right next to him.

He has good intentions and he tries but he really screws up.

We desperately need people to do such events that actually enjoy speaking and are able to explain bitcoin from a business perspective and not the techy way.

Bitcoin is so superior to all the alternatives, it really hurts seeing it presented in this way.
3065  Economy / Services / Re: I'll Pay 5 BTC to Anyone that can build the following. on: December 05, 2012, 10:07:37 PM
That is quite false conclusion, and coming from you I don't know what to think because I started to respect the things you say on the forum lately. The answer to these perpetual moving machines is simple oscillators that get their impulse energy at resonance. The part you didn't get right is a known property of physics called inertia which is responsible for making them work. They are very real and simple to build, but tricky and require the builder attention at all details.
The argument I made explains precisely why these machines can't work. Whatever state they're in, whether resonant or not, can be assigned a number based on the minimum energy required to assemble the machine into that state. And no known law of motion, energy, inertia, or resonance allows a transition to a higher-numbered state or to a state with an equal number while withdrawing energy. It really is that simple.

As stated before in an environment that causes no frictions (Vacuum, no gravity, perfect mechanics - which don't exist) it should theoretically be possible to construct such a machine that once set in motion keeps spinning at a constant rate for eternity. But as soon as you start to remove energy from the system (generator) it would start to slow down and eventually stop.
3066  Economy / Services / Re: I'll Pay 5 BTC to Anyone that can build the following. on: December 05, 2012, 09:38:38 PM
It can't work because of this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conservation_of_energy. Generating energie out of nowhere is impossible. It (hypothetically)  might be possible to create something thats keeps spinning at a constant speed, in a vacuum and with no friction.

That's it period.

Fake.

Really?
Excuse my bad paint skills.
Picture (see above)

Why do people always assume that things are impossible? Nothing is.

Ok, if you just being sarcastic, sorry for not understanding.

Do I really have to explain why this wouldn't work?

Simple: In order to enter the Water tank, you balloons would have to displace the water at first, thereby raising the Waterlevel. This would require the same energy the water uses later to displace the balloon upward.

At next a drawing where you lift yourself up by pulling on your legs please.

Also sorry for using the term impossible.

"With our current understanding of physics it is epistemically impossible" - better?

To the initially device in the video, its basically this:

The first application shown in the video, the magnetic accelerator, is a know application of magnetism and dosent violate any law.

The energy required to create the magnet is still bigger than the one the magnet will provide during its life.

Anyway, it would still be surprisly interesting to create such a device and still, I don't see why it should not be possible.

It's not free energy stuff we are taking about here.

I'm talking about the last one. That's a Perpetuum mobile (or at last it tries to look as one) and violates that law.

Anyone believing that could really work has either slept at physics or can safely called stupid.

To further clarify, I'm talking about this:

This simple video progressively shows how the Calloway V gate magnetic free-energy generator works, leading up from the most basic principles of magnetic repulsion. This technology has been suppressed because it is a threat to the profits of the energy corporations. Anyone can build a free energy generator and be free from the grid.

Given any sufficiently long random sequence of letters, it is likely to find many such patters that have meaning to humans.

That was a real interesting read, thank you for posting that.

The conclusion, doing ELS analysis on other book was what I expected. But having a link to show people is always a fine thing.
3074  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Who is the Greatest Holder of Bitcoins? on: December 05, 2012, 09:17:27 AM
The private person with the most BTC is probably ArtForz

Edit: Forgot that guy below. Yes, if he wasn't entirely stupid it's pirate.

But I can really imagine that he lost most of the coins himself by trying to manipulate the market and has "only" something around a 100.000 left. Surprisingly Ponzi operators often convince themselves that their plan actually works and are caught by surprise when their ponzi collapses.
3075  Other / Off-topic / Re: Strange noise coming from the sky on: December 05, 2012, 09:07:41 AM
From what I've heard if these UFO's are of alien origin they seem to be pretty peaceful, they haven't shot at anyone and in fact I've read in places with reports from perfectly sane people who operated nuclear missile sites etc. that they've attempted to turn those off. Who knows if they're aliens? They do clearly seem to know however that the Earth is a pretty fucked up place right now so they're keeping their distance.

Exactly, we are ~7 Billion, but have enough nuclear weapons to kill over 40 billion, or to wipe out all (complex) live on earth multiple Times.

Just ask yourself, would you get in contact with us?
3076  Bitcoin / Press / 2012-12-05 pr.com - GigaTux Accepts Bitcoins on Its Hosting Platform on: December 05, 2012, 08:50:21 AM
Not really Press about Bitcoin, but it's a press release after all.

Quote from: http://www.pr.com
GigaTux Accepts Bitcoins on Its Hosting Platform

GigaTux is proud to accept Bitcoins on for any of its hosting products, including VPS and web hosting packages.

London, United Kingdom, December 05, 2012 --(PR.com)-- GigaTux understands that transacting with some countries can be difficult using the regular currency channels, and also that some people would like to retain some degree of anonyminity, so Bitcoin is now accepted directly with no additional charges. The daily Bitcoin exchange rate is used for all purchases based on the price for GigaTux services and payment is usually registered within one minute.

Bitcoin is a decentralised digital currency and the most widely used alternate currency in the world. Bitcoins are not tied to any exchange rate and are exchanged between users on a peer-to-peer network which regulates Bitcoins' balances, transactions and issuance according to consensus in network software. Although not officially recognised by many organisations, Bitcoin is a fascinating experiement on global money transfer and GigaTux is proud to participate in this economy.

Payments can be made for services running on GigaTux's Linux hosting servers in the UK (London), USA (San Jose and Chicago) and Germany (Frankfurt). All servers run on Xen with hard disks in a RAID-10 configuration and two Intel Xeon CPUs each.

3078  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: FPGAMINING scam ongoing on: December 04, 2012, 07:49:33 PM
This is the only issuer that has got the list (that I had shares in) that didn't even post a statement or anything since then. So yes, I think it's time to reopen the thread.

But what will giving someone a scammer tag, when he has probably abandoned the forum, do?
3079  Local / Deutsch (German) / Re: Deutscher Taxifahrer verlor Job wegen bitcoinaufkleber am Taxi on: December 04, 2012, 06:23:36 PM

3080  Local / Deutsch (German) / Re: Deutscher Taxifahrer verlor Job wegen bitcoinaufkleber am Taxi on: December 04, 2012, 10:56:24 AM
